I AM AN ACTIVITY DIRECTOR OF AN ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY AND WE SHOP AT YOUR KENMORE, NEW YORK LOCATION ON DELAWARE AVENUE. ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. ON STANDS OUT ABOVE THE REST AND THAT IS HENRY (I DIDNT GET HIS LAST NAME. BEING SENIOR CITIZENS WE OCCASIONALLY NEED ASSISTANCE REACHING ITEMS OR JUST GETTING AROUND THE STORE. The return policy is very unfair. I paid thirty two dollars plus tax and went to return it and they wanted to give me the sale price which they were running for that week because I did not have my receipt. Ten dollars plus tax is all they were willing to give me. I was even purchasing probably twenty dollars more than the return value. They were keeping twenty dollars of my money. To me that is just plain robbery.
Where should i start!! I stopped in for a pack of batteries and had to wait while the lady in front of me was finishing her shopping while already checking out... Okay so it was 10 minutes till they closed. So The so called manager goes outside to talk with the people that were with the lady in front of me.. Okay fine 5 more minutes. Then she.. The MANAGER comes back in and starts discussing verizon.. Still standing line... waiting.... I just say that's a lie. concerning the service you can receive from verizon .. where she ( the manager) takes out her phone and childishly tells me.... 2 bars.. Oh thats great service...... Still waiting for the lady in front of me to finish....... All I can say is WOW!!!!! My daughter in law said it looked like things were going to get out of hand and was ready to come in herself. Finally I was able to check out still with the MANGER being aggressive with me concerning verizon.. Like I really cared.. I just wanted to buy my batteries and go.. So much for a quick stop!!!!!!!!!Never again.. I will go to a gas station and pay the extra money since I know the people that work there act as if they really care about you........
I had no choice but to rate this store 1 star and in my honest opinion it deverves negative stars. I have been working at the dollar general in west long branch new jersey. My first day there, the assistant manager who is 22 years old started making sexual comments. I don't say anything because it's just not me. He had told me he needed my number and I gave it to him because hes a manager. He sent me provocative pictures and says the dirtiest things to me on a daily basis. I got hired as a part time employee And last week I worked 47 hours 5 hours of which the store manager who is also young 25 years old paid me out of his pocket. I have worked several shifts I should have had a lunch break and have gotten 1 since I have been there. The other day someone came in and apparently stole so the cops were there. I got arrested because the asst manager told them I had outstanding warrants. I have heard from several of my co workers he's tryin to get me fired because I won't sleep with him. So he told the cop I had warrants so I got arrested. My warrants were for unpaid traffic tickets. I took care of them and called my boss to apologize. To be told that I am suspended from work because the asst manager told them I was arrested for drug offenses. I'm not allowed back until they re run my backround. I do not think I am being treated fairly at all but can't afford to lose my job. I have 2 children to support on my own. I have never in my life had a drug charge or theft charge. No felonies just traffic. Not to mention since ihave worked at this store there haven't been bathrooms. I work over 2 overnights a week an there's. I bathroom.
The Dollar General located in Mesquite, TX is the poorest store I have ever seen! The store is filthy dirty and every isle is so crowded w/ stock you cannot even navigate through them. The outside of the store is just as filthy, trash everywhere, the doors have been broken, there is no reason for this. The glass is so filthy, you cannot even see in or out of the store itself. There are not enough check out people and if you do happen to get one, they don't know what they are doing. The store is never going to be the same way when Dennis use to run it. I now see it is to be open 24 hours, what in the world for??? I haven't a clue. Will never go into this store again, will find another just down the street. Whoever owns this store should be ashamed, it looks as if it belongs somewhere in the slums.
I am disabled. I spend alot at the d.g. is in the town I live in. There is a girl that is not nice to me when I go shoping in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please call me on this phone number 1 814 622 1131. Thank you.
Someone need to check on the store in rosedale,ms. Its messy,unorganized,music is played so loud til you can't shop. Store Mgr is unprofessional. I just moved to the area & you can best believe your company will not get any of my money.
I work for dollar general and have so for almost a year now. As I was reading some of the comments as to it being only two ppl in the store working shifts and there being long lines. This is because I know at our store only has so much payroll a week for all the employees. They dont pay well at all and want to get as much work out of you as possible with little pay.Thats just the culture of there company. Working hard and not being rewarded
After reading these comments and now seeing that Im not the only person who feels this way. I am truely disgusted and embarressed to have to work for a company like this. They better be wear because family dollar corp is coming for them. In the memphis and surrounding areas when u see dollar general a family dollar is either right beside it or a few doors down, which would u choose. As a matter a fact there building a family dollar right across the street frm me... And dg is right next door!!!
Dollar General needs to know that I was let go because My niece was working at the store that was hiring me. Relatives can not work together ; well The General Manager And his wife work together and the store that I was not allowed to work at hired the head cashiers daughter in-law and her daughter is starting this coming week and they will all be working at the same store at the same time. So, either dollar general has a policy or they lie a lot. I was also hurt and broke my toe while working at Dollar General and they have YET to give me paperwork tp get this fixed. Now my toe is still bad and too late to be fixed. I will walk with a slight limp and have this condition for the rest of my life. I don't have the money to correct this;so again Dollar General Does not care if they ruin you or even if you get hurt;Tey could care less.I did not fight because I was told by anopther Manager for Dollar General that if I did my niece would loose her job immediately.
I cant even begin to tell you how awful the dollar general in Melbourne Florida on Appollo is.. I ts starts with making it in the front door if you can get by the smell, followed up by..any item you need off a shelf is blocked by a 6 wheeler of merchandise thats been waiting to be put away from 6 months ago,end caps of merchandise thrown everywhere, opened and outdated,Ive tripped over crap all over the floor,and watched while all cashiers main concern is to be outside smoking and on their phones,and then you have to watch them as their eyes role and they groan when they have to come in and actually wait on you...They are the dirtiest most cluttered store Ive ever seen...they dont deserve to make money they obviously dont care about the consumer.....
They NEVER take care of problems within the local store here in Cooper, Tx, I have called several times & have been told they would "take care of it". well they never have, this is the only store with in a reasonable drive, (the closest WalMart is 20 miles one way & I detest WalMart), first they would ONLY carry three big bags of a popular cat food, finally after SEVERAL calls to "Corporate" that was resolved, for a time being, now they are back to just three bags, they only seem to order 3 bags of the 20 pound dollar general brand cat litter, I mean this is for the WHOLE week, so if you don't get there right after the ONCE WEEKLY delivery truck runs, one is not able to purchase it. It is hard to get around the aisles, they CONSTANTLY have stock in the way & one has to TRY to get the heavy carts out of the way to purchase an item, this is not just after a delivery, but all week long. There is no "just running in" to pick up am item, as they always have a long line and one cashier, with whom ever is store manager or supervisor at the time doing "other" stuff, (not putting away stock), several times I have witnessed a long line at the cash register & the supervisor on duty just looks, no help..period. Corporate, or Regional or SOMEBODY needs to do something with this store, especially since we here have no other choice, but I doubt they will!
I work for dollar general, and unfortunately i regret ever thinking about applying. This laura nj, sums up the whole dollar general experience into one shell, they hire whom ever, management as well and the service is poor, detestable and down right disturbing. The way they package merchandise, what goes on in the back of the store is atrocious, they pack the big gallons jugs of detergent over cereal boxes, foods, candies, you name it.The employee, if they arent the nicest of the bunch are some of the laziest i have ever had the pleasure to work with. the stores i've been in had serious roach, and ant problems, and dust, wow dust let's not even dicuss how unclean everything as a whole is. Working there is horrible, so many rules and regulation design to make dollar general profit remain increasing, because theft as well as the employee theft ratio is so high. we aren't allowed to price check anything or be terminated, we aren't allowed to check another employee out or risk termination, unless it is a manager checking out the lower employee, pretty much we are forbidden to give good guest service, why because we arent allowed to leave the front desk, or there is only one person on the floor/register/backroom... seriously. employees are paid 7 bucks starting wages, which is less than minimum wage, and fdollar general only hires part time. Scheduling is a disaster, they are allowed to change the times you work pretty much the day you come in. like for example i go in at 8 am, and they need help early in the morning to clean out the roach infested backrooms, they can change it to 6 or five, and tell you that night. not ask if you want to come, but tell you. every day i go into work, its only for four hours, but i dred it, i just want to walk out and quit right there on the spot, but why let such a worthless lower than me thing corporation beat me... i have complained to better business bureau, as well as corporate office on the whole sanitation and work experience, and you know what was done and said, we will take this under consideration, and this was the first week i got hired on, 2 months later nothing is still done, it just keeps getting worse. here's a suggestion, instead of making it harder for the employees as well as the unkept unclean sanitation issue of it all, they need to change their hiring priorities. hire people who would actually do their job right. the test for the hiring store is pretty much your basic have you ever stolen from your work before questions... seriously who is going to answer yes to those questions?

The rating should be less than poor. The Dollar General Store in West Milford, WV should be inspected by someone from the district or corporate level. I try to be an understanding person, I have worked with the public myself and know how rude a customer can be even when there is no violation or discourtesy. But I am through being patient, kind and understanding about conditions and practices at this store. Today I went to this store and I needed to return items. I waited patiently while the clerk waited on two other customers. When the clerk was free, I told him I had a return. He said that he was sorry, only a manager could do the return and he wasn't there. Thinking he may be at lunch, I asked when he was expected to return and he informed me he had no idea as the manager left to take his son to his wife. He obviously was not able to do this and other things that would possibly involve the register and other things. There did not appear to be anyone else working, but of course that is not unusual at this location. What if there were an emergency or a problem with the register, and so on. On other occasions I have stood at the register which is located at the doors and had to shout to inquire if anyone worked there and would check me out. When the employee finally arrived I was informed rudely that she had to stock shelves. I politely told her that someone really should be up there at all times because someone could just walk out and as I wasn't raised to behave that way I did not do that. She looked at me hatefully and said "We have cameras". On other occasions I have arrived at the store and ALL the employees are standing outside and blocking the doors while they smoke. When another customer reminded them that it was against our local smoking ban to smoke that close to an entrance, he was informed he could shop elsewhere. On a regular basis you are not able to shop in various isles because the dollies stacked high are blocking the isles and shelves. One day I inquired why there were no lids for Rubbermaid containers in a certain size and was told they came in damaged. I asked if they were marked down and I was told no, but I could purchase it at the full price! A cashier was loading my purchase on another occasion and she knocked over the fabric softener and the lid came off. Accidents happen, so I waited while she attempted to clean it up. When she was finished she proceeded to place the half or less full container in with my other purchases. When I ask if she would get me or I could go get another one, she said. "You don't want this one?" I ask you, was that appropriate? There are other incidents I could relate, but I see no reason to beat a dead horse. Why are these people still working there?
TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN THE DOLLAR GENERAL IN BALTIMORE MARYLAND , ON WASHINGTON BLVD HAS BAD SERVICE. THEY PLAY WITH PEOPLE CHECKS. AND THE MANAGER IS NEVER THERE IN HIS STORE !
Regarding your store in Bethel nc, the checkout process is usually very good no problem there, but the store floors are often unclean and the stock/merchandise is on carts consistently. This store is very busy and I feel the employees are trying but there needs to be some oversight w/cleanliness and merchandise, please look into this, thanks
When are you going to get security cameras for the poor people who have to work in your stores? The store in our neighborhood Grovetown ga. has been robbed once at gun point and 3 or 4 weeks ago someone stripped all the copper out of the air conditioning units in the rear of the building. To date the store has to close at 11:30 am because it's too hot for anyone to either work/shop in there. Don't you idiots realize how much revenue you are losing each day? Don't you realize how much danger you are putting your employees in with no security? Are you too stupid to realize that's WHY they get robbed!!! With all the stores you own, and all the money you have.....you'd think you could spring with a little of it to make the store safe. Are you a bunch of idiots who just collect your perks and don't give a crap about other people?? Get off your useless butts and remedy the situation!!
I work at DG in Dalton ga, an the one thing I hear the most is, do you sell baby food? A small slection would do good in the DG stores.
You have an employee named Kaye at the Dollar General that I shop at. She is an unbelievable worker, always helpful, cheerful and very good at her job. I hope that you realize the incredible asset she is to your company. As a business professional, I want to say that not just on occasion, but every time I shop in this location and she is present, I leave amazed that such a worker exists. I sincerely hope that her work ethic is noticed by corporate leadership and rewarded for the asset she truly is. During the last week, upon entering your store, it seems the airconditioning is not functioning resulting in a miserable shopping experience for patrons and must be almost unbearable for employees. when I commented on how extremely hot it was and were they working on it, I was told that it had been checked out and said to be working fine. I do hope someone with any kind of authority can look in to this situation and help remedy it. Not only does it prevent one from purchasing all but the minimal essentials but surely isn't good for the stock of candies and such that are on the shelves constantly in this heat. I spend well over $500.00 per week in this store on a regular basis, but if this air conditioning is not repaired soon, I will be forced to do my shopping elsewhere until it is fixed.
