Canton, Ms, Store # 10358 WAS clean and well stocked when it first opened. Now, the shelves stay empty because everything is in boxes and not put on shelves for YOUR CUSTOMERS TO PURCHASE MERCHANDISE. There is at all times no less than 3 males at work in the store. You would think that when they are not HIDING in the back, that they could at least stock the shelves. The only reason that the chips and drinks are out is because the people that deliver them, take the time to stock their products. After my last visit, I have decided to shop elsewhere. At least "Fred's" will stock their stores.

Went to the store in elgin tx and will never go again. We shop in there once a month when my mother in law gets her check. She spends a lot of money every month. She had to use the bathroom and now they have a policy that no public restroom. My sister in law asked the cashier if mom coukd use the batroom she's. 65 years old. Cashier rudely said we have no public restroom. Then we asked to speak to the manager. Was told he wasn't there very rudely by the saame cashier. My sisterin law got a litttle loud and the cashier told herto SHUT UP.. I then asked for the manager. He finally came out but didn take us aside and the cashier is steedily yelling at us while we try to tell our side and the manager says not one word to her. We left our 70 dollar basket and went to another store with a public bathroom and better customer service. Will not go tothis store ever again.

The Dollar General in Olivet Michigan has not had air for 3 months now. Their employees are working in 90+ degree temps in their building. Can some one explain to me why a multi million dollar company, who can afford to have a race car that costs millions of dollars to run, will allow their employees to suffer in those heat conditions. They have been saying for weeks it will be getting fixed, why the HELL can't they afford new air conditioning units when they already have been told the ones that they have now are so old that the parts have to be specially made. That shows how GREEDY the Corporate worls is. SAD VERY SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

like dollar general! just want to add requests! ICE?! USA Today newspaper?! thank you.

once again, i would like to complain about your Lexington, Ms location. #1 ~ you are only 3 days into a new sale ad, and once again, more than half of the sale items are NOT to be found at this location? they're already out of said items?? humm ... funny, but i couldn't even FIND the spot where one of the sale items had a shelf spot, forget was actually out of the item #2 ~ almost every time i go into that location, the staff is rude, unhelpful, and seem incompetent. mostly, tho, they are argumentative and rude! today alone, before i got waited on, i listed to the 2 of the 3 customers in line before me get treated wrong #3 ~ EVERY time i go into this location, they find SOME reason to disallow EVERY coupon i TRY to use!!! one time, they claimed it was because the coupon was new, and the cash register wasn't yet programmed to take it. when i then inquired about them taking it off manually, they claimed they couldn't do that w/out calling headquarters. because the clerk was being so rude, i went ahead and told her to do so, please. she called the so-called manager on duty at the time over, who once again went thru the whole schpiel, and then REFUSED to call headquarters, saying, "it will take AT LEAST 30 minutes before they'll even answer the phone, and i don't have time for that". today, the clerk claimed the cash register said it wouldn't take my one and only coupon because "no match". when i then decided to have him void the sale of that item, he realized he'd never even rung it up! so, i had him do so, then try the coupon again. once more, he claimed the machine said it didn't match. well ... the item on sale was the 10 pack of Ivory bar soap on sale for $3.50. the coupon was for "one Ivory or Safeguard Body Wash, BAR or hand soap. explain to me who/why that was NOT a match?! i was buying bars of Ivory, the coupon was for bars of Ivory. #4 ~ last time i complained, i said i was never going to shop in this store again. someone had told me, tho, that they had some new staff. so, i decided to give them another chance. they blew it ONCE AGAIN, so ... I WILL N.O.T. BE SHOPPING AT DOLLAR GENERAL ANY MORE!!! and, if asked, i will N.O.T. be recommending the store to anyone, either!!!

I WENT TO THE STORE IN GALION, OHIO I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW GROSS THIS STORE IS ! THERE WAS DIRT, BUGS, COB WEBS, STENCH THROUGH OUT THE STORE... IT WAS SO HOT IN THERE THE ICING WAS MELTING OFF THE CREAM STICKS... SERIOUSLY GROSS. A POP HAD BUSTED & WAS NEVER CLEANED UP & ALL OVER THE OTHER PRODUCT THAT WAS CLOSE TO IT! MERCHANDISE WAS ALL OVER THE STORE MAKING IT VERY HARD TO GET FROM ONE AREA TO ANOTHER... IT WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER & I WOULD WALK 20 MILE TO A FAMILY DOLLAR OR OTHER STORE BEFORE I WOULD DRIVE 1 MILE TO THIS DOLLAR GENERAL STORE... NASTY, GROSS, PATHETIC SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN... THERE IS A DOLLAR GENERAL IN CRESTLINE, OHIO... AWSOME PEOPLE WORKING THERE, VERY HELPFUL, ALWAYS GREETED WITH A SMILE & FRIENDLY HELLO.. STORE IS SPOTLESS 24 / 7.. THIS GROUP SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR THERE DEDICATION TO PLEASE CUSTOMERS & FOR KEEPING THERE STORE IN GREAT CONDITION....

monday july 2,2012, I just returned home from one of your stores #12312 on kelly rd, kevil, ky. upon getting home and unpacking the items and noticed a towel missing and found my ticket and sure enough i was charged for 4 and only had 3, i then looked over the ticket and noticed i had been over charged for some vitamins, these things happen i know, but i then called the manager and asked him if this happened often, i think the bill was wrong on purpose, i then asked him how many people the did this way in a day , he said quote" ALL THEY COULD" this was not the answer i was looking for, My question , is this the norm for your stores or is this one just special? don timmons hm ph 270 488-8000 address 12515 blandville rd paducah, ky 42001

from reading these other comments, i see i am wasting my time, but i will be calling

The store in Ridgeland, SC is disgusting. They never have their carts unstocked, you can never find anything. Then they have the nerve to put a sign on the front door, "No large purses or strollers"...Please..clean up your store!!!!

The store by me is a disaster! Why is ther so much product in the Aisles to be put away? 4 workers on shift n all they do is take smoke brakes, leave the racks in the back room until you have time to put it away, I waited 13 minutes in line to check out because 2 girls had to smoke at the sametime, omg! Wuold someone please listen, this store needs some serious help, or Shut it down. No one goes in there, because its Pointless the shelves are eightr blocked by racks or its out of stock. The store is in demotte indiana, zip 46310. Its a brand new building,

Store 08276 has no air conditioning and they have been working in these conditions for months. Bathroom is cool but temp in store was 95 an hour ago. Headquarters should be in there working these conditions that the employee's are working or should be shut down until fixed. I have been a customer in the Paris Il store for over 4 yrs. Get it fixed! So disgusting for your company to hire people to fix this problem that are reporting nothing wrong. Get a clue and get up off your butts and take care of your employee's and customers. I was in management for over 26 yrs and this store would be shut down. One of your employees could get heat exhaustion and or get sick.

I have shopped Dollar General for years in Canyon Lake Texas. The "New" store located in Startzville is cluttered and hard to get assistance. They are running a promotion until 7/6/12 for $2.00 off a $10.00 or more purchase by sending a text to 34898 saying "Save2". You are suppose to get a text immediately back with a code to save $2.00 on your purchase. I did the text and did not get anything back. The cashier said "I don't know anything about that. You will have to talk to someone else. That will be $16.00." I had her get someone and the other cashier said it is usually quick, we will have to wait." There was a line of people behind me. I paid for my purchase and left: NEVER TO STEP FOOT IN A DOLLAR GENERAL AGAIN. If it was not for other experiences such as 6 people working in the store and only one cashier I would not be so hard. Last straw.

your company needs to change some of theyre rules, Your rules get the employees griped out constantly!! Like people get tired of being asked for literacy money, ( put out a jar!!) people shop there because they dont have much money in the first place... And feel as though they are being pressured for the change they have left. My Fiance works there and gets hassled ---ALL THE TIME--- Because of some stupid rule or another, And every time you turn around BAM! Another new stupid rule... We live in a small town where most people dont have much money anyway's People will use a jar if they want to donate money.. And why make them work every holiday except christmas day? Im sure you people at corporate take holidays off besides christmas!! My Mother has worked for DG for 10years and still doesnt make much over minimum Wage!! Her hard work isnt appriciated. Also, Too much is expected out of these people.. store recovery ,after working theyre hind end off all day is almost impossible, they have to unload, stock, clean, cashier, put up with, people stealing and cant call the police ( but if theft is too high its theyre fault????? ) Plus on top of all that her boss calls her and other employees stupid and talks about the employees behind theyre back's and then to the other employees behind that ones back! P.j. Moss Harrisburg il.

The career site they have chosen indicated the poorest of decision making skills. Brass ring- really? Site never works right and they wonder why they cannot get quality people. LOL.

I hope that someone at Dollar General is assigned the task of reviewing these reviews. Otherwise, what good is it to bother with them except if an individual might want to wade through 38+ pages (to see if a store in New Jersey has friendly employees and I don't live in New Jersey). The reviews I did read were for the purpose of learning as much about Dollar General as possible before contacting the corporate office. My nephew's wife took a application to a Dollar General store yesterday that is approximately 20 miles from where we live. The 'acting' manger told her to return today for an interview. The woman also told my niece that she was hiring. Now... to make a longer story shorter, my niece has a felony record. Not proud about it, but some of us do make mistakes when we are 'young and dumb'. My niece filled out the application honestly, indicating her felony record. So..... today she drives the 20 miles again to Dollar General (with high spirits and higher hopes) only to be told that Dollar General doesn't hire felons. WHAT THE F@#%!!!!!!! I GUESS DOLLAR GENERAL DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT ONCE YOU HAVE SERVED YOUR TIME, YOU HAVE PAID FOR YOUR CRIME AND SATISFIED YOUR DEBT TO SOCIETY. My niece is a very quiet, reserved young lady that made an unfortunate mistake when she was a teenager. She also unfortunately had to spend a year in a womens reformatory because of her mistake and now has to deal with 3 years of probation (at $35 each time she spends 10 minutes at their office). The probation department does nothing to assist with integrating a person back into society (like work assistance). They don't care if she has a job or not, it's like they sabatoge you so you end up back in prison. If she misses two probation payments they will issue a warrant, but they have no programs with the community to HELP a young person re-establish their life and IMPROVE their life. THIS IS WHY IS JUST GALLS ME THAT STORES LIKE DOLLAR GENERAL CAN'T BE DECENT ENOUGH TO GIVE A PERSON A CHANCE TO SHOW THEY'VE CHANGED. My niece didn't kill anyone, she didn't steal anything, and she has never used illegal drugs. She is friendly and kind and generous to others........ BUT THAT'S OKAY DOLLAR GENERAL YOU JUST KEEP ON HIRING STUPID, IGNORANT, BIGGOTED PEOPLE because I guess you think that's the kind of people your customers like. I FOR ONE WILL NEVER!! SET FOOT IN ANOTHER DOLLAR GENERAL STORE AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE KIND OF COMPANY YOU ARE. AND SINCE I CAN'T RATE YOU A MINUS 5 STARS I GUESS SINCE 1 STAR IS THE LEAST YOU CAN BE RATED, THERE YA GO!

I was wondering why when I chose a purse today and took to checkout, it rang up at $.01 instead of $8. Then the lady called supervisor and it was decided that they couldn't sell me the purse because it was on a recall. So the exact same looking purse with a different scan number the lady told me she could sell me. My shopping experience had stopped at the checkout and I had to go back through the store shopping to find another purse. I had popsicles melting and milk that was getting warm. I was very disappointed. I was afraid to buy the lookalike purse since there was no explanation given as to why the recall had been made on the purse just like it. I was afraid there was a lead concern and have babies in the household. Now wondering why the rest of the purses are safe to sell that look just like that purse. These were zippered purses with leapard and tiger stripes with a ribbon/scarf like material threaded through some holes.

Shame on y'all for allowing this to go on in your stores. I love in Mobile, AL and yu have stores sprouting up all over. And many of these reviews I have read echo what goes on here as well. I do not shop at DG and learned my lesson long ago about your stores. What I am interested to know is what y'all plan to do about it. Be a shame to see skeleton Dollar General stores all over. Believe me people won't take disrespect from your employees forever. SHAPE UP!!!

I worked for Dollar General for almost 5 years. I was a widow and needed extra money to help raise my great grandchildren who lived with me. I worked hard, long hours and was loyal. I never missed work except for I fell in the store because the roll tainer that had just arrived was not packed good and things fell off of it and I fell over them. Dollar General did not want to do anything about my injuries. I had to fight them and I was not asking for money, just medical. I was their through all kinds of weather and even found a place to stay when it was icy and no one was getting around and we were open. I verbally told the manager that I had an offer at another store and they really wanted me. My hours had been cut to 16 hours a week. Everyone who made more money and had been there longer got their hours cut, but they kept hiring new people at minimum wage. When I went back after cataract surgery, I asked how many hours I had. The manager asked me how many I needed and I said 40 or an hour less, if they didn't want me full time. She said for me to come in to the office and I did. She said I have you down for 40, but I looked at the schedule and she did not have me down for anything. I said I had to go ahead and take the other job. Now I find out I am not rehirable at Dollar General because I did not give notice. There are a lot of people that was rehired at that store who never gave notice. You work yourself to the bone for a company, just to find out your hours will be cut when you reach a certain point. This is ridiculous. I can outwork any young person and I am almost 70 years old. I feel as if Dollar General did not do right by me, as they have done to so many other workers.

The DOLLAR GENERAL on 65th Street in Little Rock, AR is my GO TO store....I tell people I buy most of my groceries there, as well as all kinds of other items. lol. I probably average $100 a week. Most of the staff is very sweet and courteous. TODAY there was a new girl, SHARONDA....SHE WILL BE MANAGEMENT MATERIAL, I HOPE. I was sweating profusly and thought I was going to pass out. She insisted on getting me some water...and said to another customer who offered to pay for it that she had brought it from home and it wasn't necessary (I could have easily paid for it myself, but she was quickly getting it for me from the cooler.) THEN, she took my purchases to the car. THIS WAS VERY NICE. I am 73 years old and subject to stress out trying to shop, etc. PLEASE pay attention to Sharonda(sp?) and make sure she is paid as much as possible. I don't know the names of the others, but the short-haired girl, whom I believe to be the manager is very nice and the older lady is very nice. GOOD STORE. GO DOLLAR GENERAL...MY SON IN LAW OWNS STOCK and he regularly checks stores out hahha. Pat Downing 501-766-1741

unbelievably rude cashier 3 weeks running, even in front of the manager. I'm never shipping there again.
