I am absolutely appalled at the conditions in which you allow your employees to work in, let alone allow your customers to shop in!! This is inhumane and without a doubt, the most disrespectful example of customer service in any industry. The DG in Pelham, AL has been without air since the end of June, and this happened last year as well. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I hope the employees with health issues file a lawsuit because I certainly would!! We will be taking our business to Family Dollar!!! Shame on your corporation!!

I visited a Dollar General in Ferguson MO recently. I returned an item and was told that since the value of the return was more than $5, I had to provide my name, address, and telephone# EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY RECEIPT. I could not get my money back if I did not provide the requested information. The cashier claimed that it was the "store'S policy." I had never heard of that before, and it wasn't posted anywhere. I do not shop at stores that have such a strict return policy. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told that none was in. I've been calling the store repeatedly only to be told that "the manager Isn't in, they didn't know when she'd be in, and to call back tomorrow, maybe she [the manager] will be in then." DOLLAR GENERAL HAS FOREVER LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER.

I have tried contacting Dollar General in Vestaburg, MI several times by phone. It just continues to ring and ring. I still have not gotten through. Managers need to start taking the phone outside with them on their very lengthy smoke breaks!!! Customers cannot even reach someone because they are outside smoking and have no idea the phone is even ringing. Everytime I shop there, employees are constantly outside smoking.

What kind of operation are you running in Canton, MS? You have sale tags on the shelf in front of the product when you check out it rang up a different price when I questioned it, I was told that product is no longer on sale. When I asked if they were going to fix the price I was told I can buy it at the price it wrang up of remove it from my list of items. I then asked for the district managers name and phone number. That took another 10 minutes easily waiting on the team member to find it. The number he gave me is to some that does not even work for dollar general. What an Awesome shopping experience. I will not even comment on the stores appearance. I have seen better right after Katrina hit in 2005.

DOLLAR GENERAL LOCATED ON DOC BAILEY RD;CROSS LANES WV HAS THE RUDEST EMPLOYEES ! THEY ALL GET MAD IF A CUSTOMER WANTS TO RETURN AN ITEM FOR REFUND OR STORE CREDIT & ACT AS IF IT IS TO MUCH TROUBLE;THE WATER HOSES THEY SELL ARE NO GOOD BLOS HOLES AFTER A COUPLE USES !! DONE SHOPPING AT THIS DOLLAR GENERAL !!

I work for DG in Gilbertown/ Butler, AL. It's one of the best corporations to shop at/ work for. But, unfortunately, we do have quite a few arrogant, narrow minded employees with nasty attitudes. All the way from cashiers and clerks up to the retail managers. BUT, if you have a complaint with your visit, just go on about your business, make your purchase, get your receipt (KEEP IT), and on the bottom portion there is a number to call to do a survey and rate your visit. Trust me, they look at this stuff for the individual stores. One of the stores I worked in was trying to get a new store, but couldn't because of their low survey rating. And you can also always talk to a rep if you would like to go further and more personal than rating. So before downing the Dollar General corporation as a whole, please take part in the survey. There are many really good stores in the business. Hopefully I could be of help to you for your next visit (:

I was in the store again today in Blairsville, GA (#03810) & it was so hot in there that I assumed the air conditioner was broken. I had a lot of shopping I intended to do, but it was so uncomfortable that I had to leave. At the checkout I asked the cashier if the a/c was broken. She said no, it was corporate who sets the temperature. I was shocked that someone in a cooled air conditioned corporate office could sit there in comfort, making a BIG salary, while minimum wage employees have to try to work & suffer in temperatures that are over 100 degrees. The last week the temperatures have been this high in our town & it isn't fair to your employees or your customers. If Dollar General can afford to spend millions of dollars on sponsoring NASCAR, they certainly can afford to let each individual store regulate their own a/c for not only the comfort of the employees but for the customers as well. If each corporate employee had to spend just ONE day working in a DG store in 100 degree heat, they would change their policies regarding the air conditioning. I have a feeling that in the winter, it will probably be freezing in the stores. Until things change I won't be shopping there any more.

I live in Henrietta, Tx., There were 2 young female workers there that were very rude with their remarks as i was getting checked out. I dont have to shop their and have to listen to rude remarks.

there has been a power outage in the harrison, tennessee store-1443-located on highway 58. two female employees are guiding customers through the store which is black dark....unprotected and working in humid conditions. yesterday was a scorcher(july 6)today-july 7 heat index 107, temperature 100 degrees. if this is how they treat their employees, it makes me rethink spending my dollars there. the health of these employees and safety is at risk. prayerfully nothing bad happens.

I am appaulled at the fact that the store in Reading Michigan has been without air for a month now. It's hot people. Take your corporate air conditioners to your employees!! I have been to this sort and have seen the employees soaked from sweat. They can barely function in all this heat. Last but not least, your food that you are selling in these stores without air can't be good. I tried to buy my grand kids a candy bar and it literally folded over it was so soft. Had to go someplace else to get kids their treat. FIX THE AIR CONDITIONERS!!!! after reading the reviews, apparently this is a theme for Dollar General!! There are more stores with more employees that are in the same boat as Reading Michigan. Whoever is in charge should have to work in those conditions. Might get fixed faster!!

Store #10358. I love the convenience of a Dollar General! I buy all paper products, cleaning supplies, and as many groceries as possible at DG. The Canton Store has REAL issues! The aisles are Blocked with stock on huge carts, so blocked that you cannot get Buggies down the aisles. I have pictures to prove it! Every aisle completely blocked, one employee on location checking customers out...and he by himself had to unload the shipment from DG distribution while checking customers out. On a separate occasion, I enered the store and there was NO employee...after a while, one single employee came and apologized that they were having to do both unload truck shipment at the rear door and check out customers. It appears the manager schedules help only when she s scheduled to work so that she doesn't have to! Shocking isn't it! I have pictures of those aisles and have no one to send them to! Is there a concerned DG corp administrative person that would like to see them? You know there are tons of hard working Americans looking for jobs.... Why does DG tolerate this stuff? Pictures available-Canton, MS PS When I was preparing this note I did not have my receipt close at hand, so I contacted store # 10358 . Guess what the manger said when I asked for the store #? She stated "I don't give that info out", so I politely reminded the manager the receipt given each customer has the store number printed on it!

THE DOLLAR GENERAL IN GAINESBORO TN HAS A FALSE ADVERTISING GOING ON RIGHT NOW N THE EMPLOYEES AND MANAGER SAY THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO N WERE EXTREMELY RUDE.NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I BEEN TREATED THE WAY I WAS TREATED IN THIS STORE BY THE MANAGER.AND THE ADVERTISING WAS FOR SCRUB SHIRTS ADVERTISED AT $8 A SHIRT 4$ AT 50%OFF THEY RANG UP AT $10 AND 5$ AT 50% THE MANAGER SAID"WELL YOU ONLY PAID $5"BUT THE POINT IS THE TAG SAID 8 AND 4 FOR THE 50%.tHEY SAID THATS HOW THEY COME IN...THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE TAGS ON THE ITEM.THATS HOW THEY COME N IF THEY DONT RING UP THE SAME ITS NOT THERE FAULT.(PROBLEM).fALSE ADVERTISING IF YOU ASK ME.HOW CAN YOU SHOW AN ITEM FOR $8 50% OFF MAKING IT $4 AND NOT HONOR THAT????WHAT KINDA OF BUSINESS IS THIS....REALLY?

Dear Dollar General. Just wanted to let your office know what a wonderful experience I had at the Carrollton Dollar General. I traveled 30 miles to go purchase baby outfits for my sister who had triplets , was pretty pleased when I saw the 70% off all yellow dot apparel . Proceeded to the check out with 15 sets in hand. Cashier started to ring them up and I noticed that the sale was ringing up incorrectly . The present cashier went to find the manager so she can correct the mistake. As she proceeded to look at the items, she said " Well I can't give them to you, you purchased to many" I said excuse me? Then she proceeded to give them to me at 50% off. I said no ma'me the sign/flyer stated 70% off and that is what I would like to get . She still insisted to NOT let me purchase my items and walked away. You see where I am going with this? Was very rude and walked away and took down the sign. In a nut shell, your corporate office should be ashamed of allowing folks like that work in AMERICA. I grew up in a COMMUNIST SOCIALIST country for the first 10 years of my life and have seen many things that would make you hang your head down in shame, but never did I think I would be refused to purchase an item in AMERICA. I will NEVER shop in any of your stores , never. I was insulted and refuse to support a corporation that does NOT put the customer first. The time I was there shopping was July the 6th between the hours of 12am-1 pm in Carrollton Georgia on highway 27. Took my business else where as I will from here on. Disgusted in Georgia.

i work for a dollar general and the other day i found a lot of food that was out of date on the top shelve. some were over 6 months old. i thought i was doing a good thing taking them off the shelf you know so no one can get food poisioning. but when my store manager got to work she started yelling at me because inventory is coming up. then she went down the aisle talking loudly about how much of a screw up i was to another associate. to be honest if she blames me she should blame everyone including herself. i am just wondering if i was really in the wrong for taking the food off? i thought its best not to get sued.

since dg came in to our little town it raelly have help us out alot.our town is growning a little at a time

STORE 152 HIRES DENSE, RUDE PEOPLE WITH NO COMMON SENSE!!!!

Dollar General Red Bud, IL. Honestly, isn't it time to hire District Managers who can train retail managers who can train employees how to behave in a retail environment????? Quick story. Dollar General Red Bud-- usually in around 6pm during the week--which in that bedroom community is the high volume time. They don't seem to plan for high volume time that occurs daily. (hint). It's normal for 8-15 customer deep lines with 1 register actually being used. Two employees outside smoking. One employee stocking and ignoring the lines. After years of the same pattern, you know its coming, and just don't worry about it. The last couple of weeks have gotten under my skin. Two weeks ago, another line, another ignored group of people. One new lady at a register who didn't know she had to clear the debit screen to do a new one- so the line was at a complete halt. Finally, somebody comes in from outside and helps her with her register error. Ignoring the lines, she wheels on her heels to head back out to playtime outside- but WAIT- a friend who was not in the line calls to her--hey- don't you have a register open? Yeah. Well I dont want to wait in line so check me out. This fine employee actually had her friend walk up and check out while ignoring the fustrated customers who had been waiting. I said- Really?? Is that the right thing to do? I was ignored by the cashier who was new. The other one looked at me and said- she's my friend, we always take care of our friends and besides, if you wanted this register running, you should have come outside and told me. Then, this outstanding retail employee left the building again without checking out the customers in line. Really, truly happened in Dollar General. Today, went back in- another 9 person line. One cashier. Two outside. One stocking. but i've learned. I asked a lady stocking- can you open the other register please? She said, it's open, but i cant touch it--dont want to get in trouble. Not willing to go ask the person with the register to come help. Just no. Ahh, but help arrives. The register is manned and the call- i can help someone. I was unfortunate to have a heavy load, so of course the back of the line folks ran around to be checked out. I stayed put, oen person ahead of me. The poor cashier couldn't get them checked out. The other one finished her customers, and put her register closed sign out and walked out... Not even saying- hey, i'm free. This "screw you, You're not my high school buddy" attitude is ok for jr high-but really- really--really-- why is ok for Dollar General. i'll shop there- it's the only place in town. but i will never again shop there quietly. this rudeness, lack of concern, and lack of common courtesy is inexcusable.

I think it is horrible how your workers are being treated at the dollar general in greenville, il. they have been working without any air conditioning in 100 plus degree temperatures. not only is this a health hazzard to your employees, but you are losing customers and sales as well. i would like to know what is going to be done about this, and what is going to happen when you have an employee or customer stricken with heat exhaustion.
