I moved down from New Mexico to Corpus Christi Lake Mathis because I am working at the Army Depot. On July the 27th my mother which came in from New Mexico went to Dollar General to get a few last minute things for my sons birthday party. While we were there I had decided to get some school supplies for school. I usually carry a wrap around shoulder bag as my purse, I was told to leave it behind the counter by the manager Rose which said that she was sorry but they had a lot of kids come in and try to take stuff mind you Im 42 yrs old. I then replied its my purse with my military badge, wallet and personnel belonging Rose then replied" oh nothing will happen to it back here at the counter, mind you I managed retail for 15 years. She assumed that I was trying to take something because of my purse. I work for the federal government! I then told her I'll just take it to my car . I returned back in with my mom and we still needed to go to the grocery store in town so I asked an employee by the name of Ruby if she could hold the had basket with school supplies until I got back from the grocery store because I needed plastic folders with brads and if the didn't have them then I would buy more of the paper folder with beads Ruby looked straight at my mom and I rolled her eyes took a deep breath and said I GUESS JUST PUT IN ANYWHERE HERE! My mom and I looked at each other and I told Ruby Nevermind this has been the worse experience here I want your name, your managers name and your coorperate office number, Ruby then replied " I don't know what I did wrong but it's Ruby and my managers name is Rose, then she yelled across the store for her manager Rose and I asked her for the coorperate number and she said she didn't know it , I then told her that was fine I would get it off the Internet. This is not the first time I've had bad service there but this was the worse ever and my worse experience ever. I will never return to that store and if you cannot deal with your job and customer service maybe that's not the job for them. Customers make the business and without customer service the business won't be as successful. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. The other time I was there they were doing inventory and the manager Rose was at the checkout throwing my products around into the bag I bought I asked if she was having a bad day she then replied I have been working a lot of hours and tired. I understand I replied I've been there but we have to do our best to treat customers like a normal day. We are not at fault. There had been more customer service issues which I will add on to my report with the Better Business Bureau. Your employees just can't assume by the purses customers carry or because of kids taking things so everyone else will too or because the employees or managers are having a bad day are having a bad day we all gave those but that's are job and what if I was a police officer or private investigator and they did that they would of been in a lot of trouble!
I work at DG. I try to reach corporate to explain complaints of this store, but no responce. They treat you like crap, I am under paid, (minimum wage when I have 10+ years exp), I get talked to like I am less than human. All I do is stock, clean, cashier, front shelfs and anything my lazy AM or SM doesn't feel like doing. I work part time because they wont give anymore hours. I am searching for a new job everyday because I can't survive on 15-20 a week. There is no support from management. The AM does nothing but sit in office and talk on phone all night. There is no respect for employees at this store and you get no placce with corporate. The manager came to work in stretch black pants that were to little and too short, hair not fixed and looking trashy, AM wears the same clothes everyday and constantly needs to shower. If I went in public like that I would be so embarassed! This place needs help! I hate this job and so does everybody that I talk to about working there.
Your Amenia store is a JOKE! The store manager John Stroh was more interested in flirting with the little girl behind the counter than helping customers,When I approached him to ask a question,he made a face and ran to hide in an aisle.I did some checking on my own and come to find out that he was hospitalized at one point for mental problems!!!!! What kind of business are you running?????!!!!!!!!! NEVER SHOP THE AMENIA STORE! FAMILY DOLLAR IS AROUND THE CORNER AND MUCH BETTER!
I DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF TRAINING YOU GIVE YOUR STORE MANAGERS .BUT THE MANAGER AT YOUR PENSAUKEN N.J. LOCATION NEEDS A REALITY CHECK HE IS VERY RUDE TO HIS EMPLOYEES AND HAS NO MANAGEMENT SKILLS.MAYBE THE OWNER OF THIS BILLION DOLLAR A YEAR COMPANY NEEDS TO GO UNDER COVER TO SEE HOW THIS STORES ARE BEING RUN TO SEE JUST HOW JEREMY IS TREATING HIE EMPLOYEES

I am complaining about dollar general in pine bluff arkansas on dollarway road..I am so tired of this store letting other stores such as liquor stores and even family dollar come in and buy up all the drinks and then people within the community cant buy them-also this store is always dirty and clutter with products that should be put on shelfs its sad when you have to dodge boxes and carts just to shop. They also do not maintain their products I bought a bag of cheese out of the freezer got home made supper opened the cheese just to find its full of mold..I am so sick of this crap.head quarters needs to get on all these stores to maintain and run them right.I will not shop at my dollar general anymore until matters are addressed
Wow, for Dollar General to be a "Publicly" traded company in the retail industry, I have a question, are all of the Corporate Office personal and the Stock Holders, Stupid or do they just not care? Just take a look at all of the NEGATIVITY in All of the comments here. There is "Obviously", a lot of issues around most, if not ALL, of the DG stores. Any one that has worked with or in the public sector, must admit that DG has a major personal problem, stemming from the Corporate Offices and runs all the way down to the cashiers and store clerks. Most of the stores are simply "Filthy", and poorly managed! If DG would invest in the time to create and (TRAIN) Management, the rest would take care of it's self. I have never witnessed "ANY" retail store, anywhere, that is managed by such a failed Corporate Headquarters. The stock holders are simply pathetic in managing their money if they allow DG to continue to do business the way it is at this time. I understand that we all get into the game to make money, but come on, the (STOCK HOLDERS) and the general public are loosing here. It is a real shame that DG Corporate Headquarters, cares more about padding their pockets, than they do about developing and maintaining a Corporation that makes money and benefits the communities where all of these DG stores are. Wake up, and make the desperately needed changes, don't just fill a position with a warm body, if management is not trained, take the time to train them right. When the PUBLIC get's fed-up with the PATHETIC way DG stores are conducted, and the LAW SUITES start piling up and the STOCK HOLDERS start dropping DG stock, it will be too late!
The new store in Braselton Ga has a wonderful group of employees. They are all always smiling and trying to help. I love how neat and clean they keep their store and how organized they all seem to be. Its by far the best Dollar General I have ever stepped foot into. Its never cluttered and it always easy to get in and get out. I drive from Winder Ga just about every day and there are 3 other store in my path that I could go to but I go to the one in Braselton. Yall did a GREAT job when you hired those wonderful people!!
801 East FM 150 Kyle Texas (512) 268-5908 This store has been without Air Conditioning since the beginning of the Summer. I usually shop there at least 3 to 4 times per week, but have decided that I will no longer be doing so because management says they are not going to fix it till next Summer. It is absolutely miserable in that store. I can't believe that the employees have remained working there. Dollar General is a large business and should be able to fix the issue without any problems. Why they have chose not to, is beyond me..
We live in Vinita, Oklahoma, a small town of about 7000 in extreme northeast Oklahoma on I-44. Dollar General Stores are popping up everywhere in Oklahoma. We love DG, much easier to get in and out of than WM, and many items cost less than WM, especially the pet supplies. Staff is friendly and helpful and the grocery items are a plus also. Near Vinita, are two small towns that recently lost their grocery stores to fire: Bluejacket, OK and Welch, OK. Both are in desperate need of a Dollar General store if you could put them next on your list. Welch and Blujacket are miles and miles from a DG, nearest is Miami, OK or Vinita, OK. Welch, OK serves several ranches in rural Craig County to the west of Welch. Even Chetopa, Kansas could use one. Please put both Welch and Miami on your list for an up-coming site to build a Dollar General. Both towns would serve beneficial to DG to build there. Thank you for considering this idea. I work for the State of Oklahoma at Grand River Dam Authority, a State of Oklahoma Agency that produces electrical power both via 3 hydro dams and a coal fired plant. I've live in this small town for 50 years and I had been meaning to email DG Headquarters for a couple of weeks, especially since Bluejacket's store burned due to fireworks and Welch's store had an electrical shortage. Your consideration of this matter is highly appreciated. Teresa West - 918-256-0682 (office) or cell 918-257-9208 An additional note is that the Vinita, OK store is in need of expansion as they see a large amount of business. The staff is wonderful. Have a great day. Thank you.
On 2 separate occasions i have left Dollar General in Apache Junction, AZ with a bitter taste in my mouth. The 1st time was several months ago when I had done some shopping and was checking out. The Manager was acting Cashier at the time and was extremely rude. As I approached the counter he did not acknowledge my presence and continued to yell instructions to one of his stock boys across the store. When he had the total he stated what I owed and I told him I did not think he even knew that I was there since he had yet to say hello or anything else for that matter. He looked dazed and confused. The incident this past Saturday Aug 4, 2012 was by far worse. There was a very elderly woman using a cane shopping and came to the cashier and asked if she could bring one of the lawn chairs inside. At first the cashier ignored her. When the young woman in front of my brought it to her attention that the elderly woman was speaking to her she finally turned around. The elderly woman repeated her question and the cashier asked for what purpose did she want to bring the chair inside. Again the young customer in front of me stated she thought the woman wanted to sit down in the air conditioning. Keep in mind if was 107%. The cashier (who by the way was at least middle age herself) rolled her eyes, shrugged her shoulders and just shook her head. The elderly woman said "I will buy the chair if you want me to" At this time the young woman in front of my stated if it was OK she would go and get the chair for her and did so. I asked the cashier what was the harm in her sitting in the chair the cashier states "I didn't say anything" my response was "EXACTLY MY POINT" I had the purchase of the chair added to my bill and paid. Now in Arizona Senior Citizens go along way in keeping some of these businesses in business. Above the fact that this cashier showed no compassion to this elderly woman in need she was rude. Hope this store can do something about their manager and employees to remedy the poor attitude they portray. This particular store is not the only one in the area just the closest.... I can and will encourage others to travel a little further to the competition.
My Mother was injured while leaving your store in Bonner Springs Kansas. She fell off the curb outside the front door and landed on her knees. Her granddaughter Cory Stacer was there with her. They both with back into that store and made a written injury report. There was a phone call made that day from the store to someone and then two women showed up and there were witiness to all of this. Mother got medical treatment a few days later on her knees because of swelling to her knees. When Mother went back to get a copy of the report. She was told that the file was not able to be found. The manager who made the report had been murdered during a store robbery. No one was able to do anything or find anything to help my Mother get a copy of the written injury report. Dorothy Rose has had on going knee problems since this inncident. It's not fair to her that your company did such a poor job of taking care of their paper work after this horrible incident that happened. Our family is very sorry for what happened at this store. Thought Dorothy Rose has to live daily with this injury that occured on your property. Then some how your company lost the injury report. The approiate actions were taken to report this injury and your people lost the paper work. I am hoping that there is something that you can do to make this up to my 83 year old mother. Shes suffering more and more from this injury. Brenda Stacer
Its a shame i walked into the dollar store in Zachary louisiana it was beyond dirty i mean its a shame to have to shop in a dirty store then on top of that things all outta place i bout 3 containers picked em up from where the price said $1.35 when i got to register they were $3.25 i told cashier she told her manager which whom had a very nasty attitude so he said they were in the wrong spot so im thinking no customer did this because about 10 were in that spot he told me i could not get them for $1.25 and not to be rude i told him keep them and also in a nice way told him he needs to clean that filthy nasty dirty store...thats one store i would never return to such poor management.

We have lived in ocilla Ga. Our entire lives. Three days ago the manager accused my wife of shoplifting, along with her aunt Debbie. Well, the police were called and when they got there they asked my wife if they could search her, and she said yes.The manager, whose name is John Archer accused my wife of stealing makeup, then it changed to shampoo and the police Searched her and Debbie, and the car not once but twice. They were searched at the store and again at the police station both consented searches by my wife and her aunt. The police watched the security tapes and said they saw my wife Amber take something out of her pocketbook, well it just so happens her Iphone is white, and the reason she took it out of her purse was because I called her to tell her to get toilet paper.well, my wife and her aunt were both written 500.00 dollar a piece tickets? That's really not my concern. a lawyer is handling that for us,but what concerns me is how my wife has had twenty three people call In the same day sayin that John had told them that they caught my wife with shampoo, makeup ,and all kinds of other stuff when they paid for everything. That's the way to do business accuse your payin customers of stealing and then runnin there names in the dirt. Thanks dollar general and thank you John. God bless.
My 71 year old Mother went to your store(in Independence, Mo store #1216) which she shops at weekly yesterday and was followed to her car and accused of stealing. She of course did not have anything but the Manager was rude in the way she conducted herself and did not even exend an apology for the embarrassment. My Mother is contemplating a law suit. Maybe you should train the Managers better.
After reading all these horrible comments....why isn't anything being done?
The dollar general in fort smith Arkansas on grand ave is the worst place to go to. I went to dollar general to buy an item that was in the ad this week. Found the item and another item on the clearance shelf. While I was standing in line checking out I was reading your coupon policy to make sure I was able to use coupons for the items I had planned to buy. Cashier rung up my stuff. I gave her my coupons. She seemed like a new worker. She asked the other workers there I believe one was a manager. They refused to let me use a manufacture coupon for the item on clearence because kit was on sale. I gave them a store coupon and a manufacture coupon for my second item. They scanned my store coupon but refused to let me use my manufacture coupon too because I can only use one coupon per item and if I used two I wouldnt be paying much for my merchandises. I pointed to the policy on the register counter and stated that im allowed one manufacturer and one store coupon per item. Then they looked at my coupon and told me the picture on the coupon don't match my item. I told them the coupon says "$2 off any one" stating that I can use the coupon towards any item of that brand. They still kept telling me I couldn't use two coupon and the coupon and item didn't match. I left have the store with my coupons. I was very disappointed that your employees especially managers know nothing about your store policies. Policies in a store is the most important thing an employee should know when training for the job. Dollar general employees need a reality check! What happened to "serving our customers needs? "
