Wow, after reading the above reviews, I must be going to the wrong chain! There are two (2) Dollar General stores close to where I live and the "newest" is within walking distance. I can't say enough about every singe employee there. I stop in three times a week on my walk and have NEVER EVER been treated with anything other than warmth, respect, terrifc customer service and some times laughter. Yes, each and every employee!!! As many times I've been there since it opened, pretty sure I've met all of them. I don't spend a lot each time, but they are still friendly and an awesome compliment to Dollar General. The other store (that I would have to drive to), every one there are all the same. Consider myself very blessed and lucky to deal with such terrific employees! And trust me, there are other places I shop this would never apply to them. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for your new store and building it close enough for me to walk to!

I was in the Roscoe Pa dollar general store #13449 at 12:35 p.m. on august 17th I was treated extremely rude!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a paying customer with two little children . I went in to purchase school supplies for them and a few groceries well I had gone by the hair care isle to look at the hair clips and i didnt see anything and when I walked around the corner to the next isle the two employees that were working that day was whispering about me as if I had stolen something. I looked at them and they kept staring at me and wouldnt talk anymore. IM extermely upset the one girls name was April and the other girls name was Angie I am a paying customer if it wasnt for me buying in that store they wouldnt get paid!! I purchased a bookbag and lunch box and two small toys only because my children dont understand ignorant people and I couldnt dissapoint them!! I was however going to purchase other things but you lost a big sale on me because of ignorant employees you have working in that store!!!!! I am highly pissed off I DO NOT appreciate the way I was treated!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would give it less but it's the worst I could give it. The DG store in Blountstown FL managed by Cindy, could not get last name. The cell phone they sold is "bad" from a bad batch of Verizon phones which they admit! Yet I came to get my money back and I waited over 1/2 an hour (still waiting) for "CIndy" to activate a BAD phone!! WHAT are you kidding me??!! I asked for my money back but now after Thirty minutes she wants to use her cell Phone to actIvate this one?!! Seriously? Just refund My money and I will buy a phone that actually works somewhere else! Admit you have a problem!

store #13270 Just quit my job as assistant manager after 2 weeks of working. Store manager was really mean and treated employees like they were stupid. (and he wonders why he can't keep employees) Also he told me if I called anyone to file a complaint against him, they would believe him over me and it would just make him mad and fire me. Decided to move on to a less stressful work environment. In all my years of working retail, this guy was the absolute worst manager I have ever come across. Makes me upset because I really loved that job.

I will be contacting Corporate regarding the above incident. It happened at the DG Store at 3852 Dickerson Pike, (Bellshire), Nashville, TN, 37207-1318 location. I was so appalled by the treatment by the black female employee's actions, language, threats, etc. , I was afraid for our safety and called the Metro Police, to make an incident report. My fiancé & I are white, majority if not all customers were black, employees & shoppers. I want the employee terminated. I was in tears over this and have no plans of shopping ever again at any DG Store until this issue is resolved. I've given this a lot of thought and ask the Lord for answers and direction into how I should proceed in this matter. It has also crossed my mind that the employee could have done this purposely to cause a distraction and ruse, to divert attention away from other shoppers that were her friends, so they could walk out the door un-noticed, with thousands of dollars in merchandise. Obviously DG Stores do not have security camera's to keep their overhead cost down. If true, this is a major problem for DG Stores, because I've heard the statics say that businesses lose more money in stolen merchandise, by employee theft, not stranger or shopper theives. Why should I support an organization that allows this type of behavior by their employers. I won't, even though I have shopped DG Stores several times weekly often in the past. These days Americans need to shop thrifty, but not at the cost of my reputation, mental and physical well-being. Corporate should be ashamed of employing these type of people. I will never forget this incident as long as I live and will continue to tell all that will listen, what happened to us at the DG Store. I also feel that racism was involved on the black employee's part.

I went into the dollar store at 1717 Dort Hwy, Flint MI to return an item and the policy stated that was posted ON THE COUNTER stated 90 day return policy, and my purchase was less than 50 days. The manager Mike? refused to give me the return stating that the policy was changes to 30 days return policy. When I asked to see this, his answer was to to online. I told him I had no access to that and wanted the general managers name, phone number to corporate. He refused all. It's not so much about the $4.00 + TX. As it is about attitude and ignorance. I am a single mom of an 8 yr. Old in a wheelchair and have to use public Trans. For any and all transportation and do not appreciate the attitude and refusal to do their job!! I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau for this issue. If the store policy has changed, then DON'T ADVERTISE THE INCORRECT INFORMATION!

Store number 11909 The store manager is very rude to some of the customers depending upon who it is. Others she treats as if she's known them all her life. I've witnessed her rolling her eyes at people who ask questions and even has a snobby attitude along with it. It's as if she has no respect for her customers.

Heyy everyone I see there seems to be some problems with the Dollar General. Also seems like nothing is getting done about it. Well i'm here to help. I realize this may jeopardize my job at the DG but I have never seen a group of people who didn't not act professional.. They treat employees and customers very rudely. I am truly saddened at the way this place is handled. I have worked many jobs and have NEVER seen so many people come and go at this particular location. I believe the workers there have a lot to learn and the management especially. Although I may loose my job I feel that I was completely discriminated against and still am. I will NEVER recommend the DG to anyone to work...

I have been reading/hearing about all these DG stores that have had A/C Problems -- I have to wonder if they are actual malfunctions or "planned outages" - that is -- since corporate can control most of these stores by computer -- did they shut off intentionally?

Many customers are posting here expecting someone from corporate to reading these posts which is unlikely. As a former store manager it is unfortnate that a lot of the posts are true. I worked in different districts/region so my first experience was great but my last experience was not. Based on my last experience and what I have heard of some other districts from other managers it appears that the DM's are much to blame for the customer issues as jobs are threated for doing things like over-riding coupons or price modifying and they think most everyone is a theif both internal and external. The mnanagers are generally over worked and do not have enough payroll -- but its the mis-treatment of staff by the DM is the worst part of it in my opinion. It appears from the comments here and I have read elsewhere that my first experience is not the norm. However nothing does excuse being rude to customers -- I have had to follow policy or DM's directives -- and was not able to deliver the customer service I would have liked - but I always tried to explain and be pleasant. Some of the comments sound like -- it was not all DG and maybe the customer at times.....and I have not interest in defending DG

I just wonder why they never have what they have on sale. and the best you can get is a sad ass line of crap. They have never stood behind what they have on sale. This has happen to me a few times but wont happen again if dont do something to get it right. Iam done with this line of bull sale ads. Have a sale on this

I was excited when this store first opened. I still enjoy shopping there because they have some great prices. However, I avoid going there during the summer as the store never has any air conditioning on. I don't know how the employees can stand it.

My manager asked for money from my till then said I was money short after collecting it,then she never trainned me and this all happened in three days.I just started

I was not able to work at the store of my choice because my girlfriend worked there and now i find out that the acting boss at the store in westmont PA has a relationship with an employee there. Why is this exceptional? Also displaying it right out in front of the store as the acting boss is still working. How is this excepted but i can not work in the same store as my girlfriend? It has put a hard toll or our relationship when i have to drive an hour two and from work. Does anyone see something wrong with what is going on here? I'm sorry but I do not think its right for some people to be treated special.

Dollar general hiring process is very stupid. The assement test is very stupid and has nothing to do with work relate topics I have taken the test and past it then I work there for a year untill I has to resign because of dr orders then I went back to apply and said I fail the test it's very stupid the test and I am more than qualify to work there I believe they should revise the test or just do away with it

You folks must be having serious mgmt problems, because your store in Summit Ridge Center in Elkhart, In has turned into a dump inside and outside. Pay people a living wage and it could make all the difference.

iwaa verbally attacked by the store manager today at 1777 sharp road baton rouge Louisiana stupid angel hair pasta was listed on the shelf as $1.00 each. It rang up as$1.79 each I asked the cashier to pease check the price and she called the manager the manager went and looked and said their was no such thing I asked if I could show her and she agreed. I pointed it to her that there were actually 2 shelves with the product and the price of $1.00 each she said that was Wrong! that that price was good only until July 30,2012. I told her that was false advertising she told me that I was rude! went back to the register to check out and she told the cashier I was a bitc h and rude to give me the pasta for $1.00 each both myself and the cashier were stunned ! I td the cashier I did not want the pasta she said yes mam and the cashier apologized ! the cashier needs a raise and the manager needs to be fired!

Dollar General could careless about your complaints, let alone any attempts to correct there employees behaviors. Secondly your complaints written here on this site mean nothing, as they are not read by anyone at Dollar General Corporation. This is nothing more then a bogus complaint area to keep you from reaching the corporate offices where the real complaints are handle. Thank you.
