The food tastes good. I only have two problems with Cracker Barrel facilities. First, they don't offer Senior Citizen entrees or discounts, and the seating is SO uncomfortable. Surely, adding a chair pad would help!
Dear Sir: I live in Toronto Ohio. My daughters and I go weekly to Cracker Barrel in Robinson Township Pittsburg Pa. I have always been treated with upmost respect. They are always smiling, the food is Awesome, done to perfection just the way we like it. By the way each one calls us by our first name when we walk in. Love it! We spend hundreds of dollars their. I love my gift certificates I get throughout the year. If I could rate Cracker Barrel 10 stars I would. Thank you so much for good memorys.
Went to visit the Cracker Barrel in Alma, AR for breakfast, which is my fav meal there. I can say that what I normally order, the Momma's Pancake Breakfast was just as good as before, but I felt terrible for my husband. He ordered the sausage and hash brown casserole meal. Wow! For $4.00's and some change, it might had been enough to feed my three year old, but not for anyone over the age if my toddler. Thank goodness I ordered a side of hash brown casserole, but for $2.00 and some change, it was like a three tablespoons full on my dish and that was it. I wish I would had taken a picture for cooperate to see. I ended up giving my husband my side, but my question is, has CB decrease their portion sizes on their food? And didn't this dish used to come with fried apples and not just a choice of one or the other? Thank you, Penney Davis Fort Smith, AR
This is for only one experience. We were traveling through Georgia second week in January and stopped for dinner at a Cracker Barrel. The worse service ever, two waitresses and they still didn't get our order right. We do alot of traveling and always had good food and service until now. Don't know if we will stop again. Just thought you should know.
My daughter, her two toddlers and I were on a roadtrip recently, and we had driven 300 miles before we decided to stop at the midpoint (Columbia, Missouri), at the local Cracker Barrel to "top off" our appetites and proceed with our trip. We have always been pleased with the quality of food and service and knew that it would be the same here ~ NOT SO FAST!! We ordered the toddlers a big serving of macaroni and cheese to share, and noticed that there were sizeable chunks of brown particles as we were attempting to load it up on the spoons to feed them. My daughter said "gross!" and I said "It could be bacon bits to give it flavor?" The kiddies refused to eat the stuff, and FINALLY, when the waitress decided to check on us, we asked her the question of what it was in the mac'n cheese. She said, "Well, when they SCRAPE THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN, the stuff that STUCK to the bottom of the pan sometimes surfaces and gets mixed into the food!" She asked if we would rather have another side to feed them, and by that time, the kiddies no longer wished to eat! (Good thing I had some apples and bananas in the car that they were able to munch on afterward). I am truly disappointed that the waitress didn't even offer to take the charge off our bill....another big blunder! When checking out, the cashier asked if everything was OK. I replied "NOT REALLY!" She never ONCE asked me, "what seems to have been the problem?" Without a glanc e, took my charge card and ran the bill ~ COMPLETELY! I have been in the customer service business all of my adult life, and I NEVER have seen such an act of discourteous service in all my years (59). Incidentally, my "miniscule" portion of your famed "potato casserole" was served on such a small dish (about 4" diameter), that it was near impossible to eat gracefully. Why not put the food on one REGULAR plate? After all, I ordered the popular "pot casserole, fried apples & biscuit" special, and all three items were in three separate containers. WRONG! Tsk tsk tsk! Shame on Cracker Barrel. I have notated the bad experience in my memory bank and will surely NEVER return to another Cracker Barrel and will NEVER recommend it to friends. What a slap in the face! Thanks for the only bad experience in our entire trip, Cracker Barrel....
The Cracker Barrel in Valdosta, Georgia needs some attention from Corporate Headquarters. The health inspectors from the County have rated them a C rating for the last 2 months. Needless to say our family has not been there for those 2 months and will refuse to eat there until you do something to raise the score. I refuse to eat anywhere the score is below an A rating. Our favorite is Breakfast and we miss eating there. We look forward to the time when you get an A rating!!!
After giving up a year ago on the Marietta GA/Delk Road Location (poor service, out of Meatloaf at 7:30 PM (!!!) I decided to give this location another chance. One of my relatives gave me $50 worth of C.B. Gift Cards for Christmas. Didn't feel like driving to the Kennesaw Ga Store, so decided to risk it & give Marrieta/Delk Road/Store ONE MORE CHANCE. 8:15 pm Wednesday evening 12/28/11 Three (3) attempts calling the Marrieta Store. Call Attempt # 1. Hostess transferred call to Kitchen & was disconnected. Call Attempt # 2 Hostess transferred call to Kitchen & phone rang, rang..no answer after for minutes. Call Attempt # 3 Hostess Transferred call to Kitchen & phone rang, rang..no answer Decided to drive the five miles to the Delk Road Store to eat there, since my efforts to place a to go order were unsuccessful. Seated pretty quickly (I was alone). I explained to the hostess that I had made three attempts to place a To-go order (see above), so I had to come down in person. I would have thought maybe she would inform one of the manager(s) on duty, but I'm assuming she didn't, because I was ignored for a full 10 minutes, while MULTIPLE employees walked past my table, closed menus in full view. Finally, a waitress approached my table & took my order. After about 7 minutes, she returned to my table to explain they were out of the Daily Special (Broccoli/Chicken Casserole). I asked to speak to the Manager. After a few minutes, an assistant Manager approached my table to offer a different dining option. I advised him that I thought it was poor service that a restaurant would run out of their Daily Special almost two hours prior to closing. I then got up, walked over to the Wood Burning Fireplace & advised the manager that I wouldnt be needing the $50 in gift cards that I was given for Christmas. I then proceeded to toss my Gift cards on the burning fire in front of the dining room. Needless to say, I wont be returning to Cracker Barrel anytime soon.

12/09/2011 Pastor Don Honig P.O. Box 65455 Virginia Beach, VA 23467 Dear Sirs: I want to take the opportunity to thank you and a moment to say why. In the past my wife and I have been very disappointed in the quality and service of the Cracker Barrel restaurants. We purposely decided to stop going to any of the Cracker Barrels based on our past performance. I even sent in a letter of complaint about the poor quality and service of a North Carolina location. You responded by sending us a golden ticket for a free meal with an apology. My wife and I held on to that ticket for over four months and purposed to give it away rather than be disappointed again. On 12/09/2011, my wife and I decided to try one more location in Chesapeake Virginia. I am so happy that we did. We finally redeemed the ticked you sent us and the food was excellent, the service was five star and the management was more than I could have ever asked for. So much so that I had to ask the manager to come to the table so I could thank him personally. He took care of us like we were royalty and completely re-established our confidence in Cracker Barrel. I’ve enclosed the location and names of the people that made our dining a complete joy to be there. Store: #629 Server: 4-Star Trey Ramsey Associate Manager: Adam Levell Thank you again for the golden ticket which gave us the opportunity to visit your establishment again Pastor Don Honig 770-855-9695
We invited a friend to Cracker Barrel to celebrate her birthday. She ordered beef stew. The bowl contained ONE piece of meat, and the rest was a soupy potato mixture. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, he brought her a small side-dish of brown gravy with some meat in it. I guess that was supposed to replace the beef stew. We would not have offered the original beef stew dish to our pet, it looked so UNTEMPTING! It was a very embarassing incident, and we felt we had to apologize to our friend. We will not only not visit a Cracker Barrel restaurant again, but we are also telling our family and friends about the poor quality of your food. Obviously you need some quality control! Wm. I recently ate at Cracker Barrel in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was quite late, so we ordered a late dinner. The waitress was friendly and prompt to take our order, but she definitely messed up our dinner. I ordered brown beans and cornbread. I did not get any bread of any sort, when I made the remark I did not get cornbread, the waitress walked away, never to return until the check came. I am disappointed and probably will never eat there again.
I would not even give you poor ass restaurant in Palm Coast Florida one star. I sat for over 45 minutes( was told only a 30 to 35 minute wait for Thanksgiving dinner. My wife and Granchild finally got a table, and the waitress disappeared, never came back to the table to offer to get our beverage or anything else. Table's on each side of us orders were taken and food delievered and still no waitress. We waited for over 25 minutes and I finally got up and left, telling the manager or whatever he wasn't about the lousy service your restaurant chain in Palm Coast was offering. You should send someone down from corporate headquarter's and fire a manager and get some some better waitress's. I plan on putting a very derogatory piece in the Palm Coast's local paper about your restaurant and how it ruined a family Thanksgiving meal. My wife and I went to another chain restaurant and enjoyed a nice turkey, dressing and all the sides, with no waiting for a table, a nice polite waitress, who promptly took our order's and brought our food to the table in a timely manner, food hot and delicious. You have lost a loyal paying customer who will never step through your doors again. You should be ashamed to have someone running one of your restaurants in the manner I saw tonight at this Palm Coast Florida Cracker Barrel Ronald G Coleman (ronandjeannie26@att.net)
My family and I had a WONDERFUL experience at your Sulphur, LA location. We arrived (17 of us) on Friday, Nov 18 and immediately the hostesses made us aware of the wait. We understood that we would have to wait because of our party size. Once we were seated, Jamie and staff made us feel welcome and special. It was my birthday celebration and our family doesn't get a chance to be together often, so this was a very special night. At the end of the meal the servers brought out my cake and sang Happy birthday. We had a great time. Jade took as many pictures as we asked and was so pleasant and sweet. Thanks again so much to all of the staff and management for making this a wonderful and special family gathering.
Why in the world don't you open Cracker Barrel in San Diego, CA. We have a huge senior population that really enjoy a home cooked meal. I noticed Marie Callender in Carmel Mountain Ranch is closing, you could take their spot. But, clean it up first :) You are missing a huge opprotunity to have a successful place.
Hi. Yesterday I ordered a chicken fried chicken. As I was eating the edge, I thought it to be a little rare. My boyfriend kept telling me it was ok.....when I got to the middle it was RAW! I agreed to a paid dinner. But after my meal I am sick. I am thinking about contacting my lawyer, but don't want to make a big deal. I have a picture of my raw chicken I'm just not sure how to attach.
Cracker Barrel at Greenbrier in Chesapeake, VA., has poor food quality every time we've eaten there. This last time was our last time. No more for us. The eggs were runny, undercooked and cold. Service was poor. Coffee cups sat empty, which is unusual in most Cracker Barrels. Okra was soggy and cold, not crisp. When we were paying our bill, the lady in front of us was telling the cashier, who asked how her visit was, said "terrible." So we weren't the only ones.
As an employee for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, I can reiterate a previous review's claim that your service can range from outstanding to lousy, depending on any range of variables. I am a grill cook as well as a backup cook who can also fill in on prep; in other words, I can make your salads, your biscuits, and your steak just how you want it in less than the average time, every time. Guests stop in when my car is in the lot because I can prepare a perfect medium rare ribeye or sirloin. But I cannot assure the gravy or biscuits someone else makes will be on the same level as mine. Nor can I guarantee that your salad will have zero pieces of brown lettuce. As with all industries, there are people who aren't very good at their jobs; at my store they either get better, get moved to a position that fits their strength, or they leave. One bad experience may be traced to any one weak link in the service chain. On Sunday mornings when the "star players" are working together, I've seen a 5 man grill line feed hundreds of people for hours and not have a single plate come back. I've also seen a three man crew completely drop the ball on a Monday night where a manager will have to comp hundreds of dollars in meals. All it takes is the right amount of communication, efficiency, and preparation to make a bad shift a great shift. Great shifts lead to happy employees which create great food which leads to happy guests. For every bad review that gets posted here, there are ten great ones that no one has taken the time to write. For every person who leaves my store unsatisfied, there are 5 regulars who stop by at least twice a week. If you have had a bad experience at any of our stores, I personally apologize. I know there are some managers who are in the wrong restaurant if not the wrong business and any complaints should not go unaddressed. Your bad experience is a concern to everybody who works at any store or corporate because our collective goal is to be the best family restaurant in America. That is why we have phone numbers and websites for your concerns; help us make our restaurant better by bringing these conflicts and concerns to the attention of the company. We aren't like McDonalds wherein our manager answers to the owner--all our stores are owned by the company where we have a direct line that waits all day to hear what you do or don't like about what we are doing.
As I read the other comments from other customers, I wonder how many went to your facility with a chip on their shoulder. However, for what I am taking the time to write to you about. As a retired national sales and marketing director, when I find something that a supplier of mine needs to be aware of that could help business I tell them. For several years now I have requested you add salsa to your condiment menu (even at an upcharge) and vinagret dressing to your salad dressing offering. I noticed the dressing came available about a year ago slated for another salad (which I constantly ask for and get on my steak salads) so you have added the dressing and I and maybe even millions of customers thank you. But recently in a West KY facility I asked a server if the store manager or better still does corporate management ever ask what the employees feel would add to the store. Both the manager and the server said the same thing, no one at headquarters ever ask them for any ideas and seem annoyed when someone offers an idea unsolicited. I certainly hope this is not correct, I have demoted and even fired employees who disregard suggestions that might help. Remember "the boots on the ground" know whats going on. The server told me when I asked the last time and I always ask,"We get more requests for salsa especially for breakfast. ( There are a lot of us exTexans around, and a day with no salsa on eggs is like a day with no sunshine) I asked her if she ever turns in the suggestion she said yes but no one even paid her any attention. A friendly suggestion, ask the people on the front lines for ideas and get salsa in your restaurants so I can come back from Denny's or IHOP for breakfast more often. If there is more cost than I remember when we had home made salsa at home then add a charge for salsa.
MY WIFE AND MYSELF ALONG WITH MY BROTER AND HIS WIFE WERE AT YOUR STORE IN MIDDLRTOWN OHIO. WHEN LEAVING NOTICE THAT OUR CAR HAD BEEN BROKEN IN TOO. I CONTACTED THE MANGER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAMERS DID NOT GO TO THE BACK LOT. AND HE ALSO TOLD US THAT HE HAD A EMPLYEE LAST NIGHT WHOS CAR ALSO WAS BROKEN INTO AND EVERYTHING WAS STOLEN. SAID IF THE POLICE HAD ANY QUESTION TO COME AND TALK TO HIM. MY QUESTION IS WHY HAVE THE CAMERAS AND THEM NOT WORK. IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORST BUT WE HAD A 100 MILES TO DRIVE HOME. NEVER ASKED IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO OR JUST WALKED AWAY. SOUNDS THAT YOUR AS LON AS WE ATE AND PAID WHO CARES. IS THIS HOW YOUR MANGERS SHOULD TRAT PEOPLE. WONT BE A RETURN CUSTOMER BECAUSE WE FEEL UNSAFE. WE BOTH ARE SENIORS AND WE WILL GO TO SOMEPLACE ELSE TO FEEL SAFE. DONT GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS THE FEELING WHEN THEY SEE CAMERAS THAT YOUR PARKING LOTS ARE SAFE. WILL LIKE TO HERE BACK FROM SOMEONE THANK YOU ROBERT BROWN. hbrown003@woh.rr.com
