I recently had a horrible experience at the Costco of MILFORD, CONNECTICUT. I was in a rush to buy some things, and unaware that my membership had expired. The UNQUALIFIED and IGNORANT supervisor, Sue, handled the situation with NO consideration on how to properly assist me. Being a member of Costco for many years, I imagined I would be allowed to make this one “transaction”, which she later so rudely informed me I was not able to make. She apparently has NO RESPECT for customers. As she arrived to the register she informed me that I need to renew my membership, and in response I told her that I am in a rush and I need these things but I will be sure to return and renew my membership, and she completely disregarded my request and began to unload my items off of the conveyer belt and into the cart saying “You won’t be able to make any transactions without a membership”, she also continued to make a scene in front of all the customers and employees. I was left with no supplies in a situation when they were necessary. She has caused a great inconvenience for me, and she will continue to do so with others and cause a decline in the profit of this Costco by luring away customers with her vile behavior and unpleasant attitude. As she continues to offend and draw away current customers, I will inform many potential customers of my disgust towards her and whoever allowed her such a position that involves communication and management skills that she apparently does NOT possess. I will under no circumstances return to The Costco of Milford if they continue to disgruntle customers with this unfit so-called “supervisor”.
If I could give a zero rating I would. I have been a Costco member for many years and have been a very satisfied customer until just a couple of weeks ago. While shopping at the Park Meadows store, near Denver, my wife and I were suddenly surrounded by 4 male Costco employees, one of whom was the store manager, and two of whom had makeshift clubs in hand. For more than 10 years I have shopped in that store, and others nearby - sometimes several times a week - and always carrying a firearm openly, as allowed by Colorado law. No one ever said a word to me about it. There was no sign posted prohibiting open or concealed carry, as required by Colorado law. The manager was loud and rude and threatening. It was embarrassing and it scared the hell out of my wife. We were told to leave and were escorted to the front door. We are no longer members at Costco.
Time for PRIVACY OPTION. Love or hate Costco. The privacy issues shopping there are of concern to many. Why is it necessary to pay to get into a store to shop? Answer - Because they track and record every purchase of every single product you have ever purchased. This information is given or sold to many entities. Admrial Poindexter and his TIA (NSA) & (CIA) agencys are probably directly linked to this information as they build a profile on every American, direct violation of 4th Ammendment. It is not simple market analysis. I have done extensive price comparisons of many stores. Costco quality, price and value is no better than many local chains and other national chains. There is no advantage financially to shop at Costco. You get to shop in a warehouse where there is no sales help , below average IQ employees and monolithic management structure. You can keep your drugged up beef and rotting third world produce. My family will now shop where descression can be maintained.
Six stars to the staff of the whse #1015 in San Dimas CA. The team headed by Pharmacist Inness Wah-Mah is the best @ customer sevice. Patient, positive, very clinically competent, friendly, provides timely follow up, just a really committed team to quality service. The environment is fast paced, but each person -I wish I could name them all-has time for Star Customer Service. They have checked insurance coverage, given quotes and followed up with docs. and answered each of my questions. If there are alternative med.,these are professionally suggested. People often write about the bad stuff;this department is at the top of its performance---always! It's like going to a neighborhood pharmacy.
I had a very bad experience with Costco supervisors and mangager named Alan at the Tracy, Ca store. I recieved a 30 day free trial mind you I already have a membership. So I called costco and asked if I can give this to my daughter who does not have a membership and I was told yes by a supervisor. My daughter had used the card several times to make purhases for me and had no problems. On 7.14.10 I sent my daughter to the store and she was treated very disrespectful by a cashier and supervisor, she was asked for her ID then proceeded to be questioned on how she got the card and stated she could not use the card. Mind you there was no name on the card, they told she was not able to use it and it had to be taken away from her. Yes she was upset and used a fowel name at these women and walked away. When I called the store manager he seemed to be on my side until he talked to 5 people and all states my daughter was rood, yes I would be to if I was asked for ID and was treated like a criminal using a 30 day free trial membership. Why ask for ID does Costco ask for ID?
Well Well Well, I have shopped at Costco in San Jose for 15 years, The Almaden Store and guess what, the majority of the staff have all been changed with a 60 to 70 % hispanic work force being in place. Two of the staff that I tryied to talk to about an items placement indicated that they didn't speak english, I speak a little spanish. I am fairly sure these people do speak english as I spent 22 years in Law Enforcement and I am very good at detecting when someone is lying to me. Clearly my being a white male is now a problem at this store, (#470) and I would wager that the management team has been rolled over at this store recently and the new managers last name is Garcia, Rodriguez, or Manuel, further the store was not busy, volume is down, service is down, morale is down. So two questions, did the management team change, is anybody checking for racial discrimination in the new managers hiring practices and you might think about your last name if this is Costco's wave of the future before shopping at store #470.
As a result of Costco's promotion for new kitchen counters, I placed an order for granite counter top and undermount sink. On the scheduled installation date, three men showed up, the sales rep who was to be there did not show. I was told installation would take 2-3hrs. These men tore out my old sink/counter, ripped a 4ft long trench in the wall in order to make counter fit. They brought in a filthy shop/vac, turned it on and blew filthy white dirt throughout the entire house. You could not see or breathe. I had to go outside. Then I was asked where was the sink? NO SINK! I called the sales rep, Sam Fortino of Custom Stone Installation-no answer. I left my cell number-no answer. Finally several emails received (all of which I have) stating had emergency, sorry no communication, had to take several days off. Still NO SINK. I went six days without a sink. However, my discover card had already been charged for the full cost of installation! No one can tell me why. Not Costco, not Supply my Counter (Costco), not Sam. Costco doesn't seem to think they are responsible for this disaster-however these gentlemen were only in my house because of Costco's promotion. I have made it clear that I must be compensated for the cost of cleaning living room furniture and repair to wall. I have never been so disappointed in a job and have lost faith in Costco. Scott Forcier has been assigned to this matter, but he doesn't feel Costco is responsible for reimbursement of damages. Please respond. barb2220@yahoo.com
My mom has worked for Costco for 10years at two different locations. The two locations are in two different regions and there has been a dramatic difference in how she has been treated. I as well use to work for the company, I was accepted for a tranfer to the different store in a different state. Then when I got to the new store and state was told that they do not have a spot open for me. I showed up there with all my copies of my acceptance for my transfer. I was supossed to transfer from a store in Waltham, MA to a store in Albuquerque, NM. I was completely dissappointed with the company and outraged that I had moved and changed my whole life around anticipating a job just to be denied by the manager, (Dawn) here in Albuquerque. I have stayed in Albuquerque but not as an employee of Costco. I do not recommend them for a place of employment for the way I was treated and for how I see my mother being treated. I was recently in a roll over accident and have been in the hospital for few days. Have been advised by the dr not to do any lifting of any kind which is dificult with two young children at home. So my mother has had to take time off from work. She does have vacation time saved up but has been told she can not use that time. She has also been told by a manager there by the name Senlina, that her job is at risk. Selina has also told her "as your friend your daughter needs to help out more and that you can not afford to loose your job doesn't your daughter understand that." I apologize Selina for having dificulty moving my lift side of my body and that children are to young right now to do things for themslves. If they could change their own diapers and make their own bottles I am sure it would make Miss Selinas life s little easier. But family is number one and many of the employees there would not be there if it wasn't for their families. I have noticed that a lot of employees there are related to eachother one way or another when at that location the managment claims that they do not hire relatives. That is a lot of bs. The new general manager himself has hired some employees that are his relatives. What kind of influence do the supervisors and employees have if their own upper management can not stay true to their own policies. This is the store on Eubank Blvd my transfer was denied at the Montano location. I am currently on hold with the corporate office and find it absolutely ridiculous that the company has gone down as bad as it has. My mother use to look forward to going to work now it is a dreadful experience. Everyday she has come home with another negative thing to say about the company. She has also said how the supervisors are told by the managers that they are only there to babysit the employees. If I ever had people babysitting my children that manage that place then I know my cchildren would never learn anything or be productive at anything and that nothing would be done. I would fire them as a babysitter and management. Which is what Costco needs to do. Instead getting rid of their loyal employees they need to get rid of the employees that are only there because they kissed to much but to keep their job. Evaluate the people that do work hard and keep those people notice them for their working ability not for how their but kissing abilities are. Thank you If anyone knows of who to contact to get the respect these rmployees deserve please let me know, so I can relay the message to the good, loyal, hard-working employees. admr2.deer@gmail.com Thank you concerned relative
Re: a King kong USA massage chair The company that made the chair, which Costco carried, has sold. That new company is not offering repair service or replacement parts for the $2000.00 chair. Perhaps carrying the new companies product is not a good idea, if they won't even stand behind the King Kong USA's original product.
Trying to get this to the right office... Driving Northbound on the 57 Freeway at 8:30 pm just outside of Brea, CA Costco driver license plate T569864, on the drivers door #470 and in the back of the truck reading 960350 was driving extremely dangerously. (Wed or Thurs 6/30 - 7/1) He almost caused two accidents, one with me. I watched as this trucker literally weaved in and out of traffic like a motorcyclist. He was racing past cars and literally got into the second to the fast lane. This driver was WRECKLESS AND A DANGER TO BE ON THE ROAD. Can someone help me find the appropriate authority to report. Thank you, R. Wright
On 6/23/2010 I visited your Ocean, New Jersey store. While shopping my husband called and requested Zantac 150 mg. While I did not need two bottles (as packed) for convenience I decided to purchase the $18.XX item you carried. The product rang up at 19.99 at which time I informed the cashier of the stated price. She requests that a someone check the price. Instead of him coming back to inform us of the price after going to look, he went to another register and looked up the price. He then confirmed (by way of yelling across the isles) that the 19.99 was correct as if I didn’t know that your computers would be in sync. In disbelief, I went back to the item and there was now NO price over the Zantac. He then tried to convience me that there had not been a price there. Totally insulted and incensed, I instructed the cashier to take it off my bill. While proceeding to the exit, I decided to inform the manager. He then gave me the price that I had indicated. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied because I take issue with someone trying to treat me like I am ignorant and stupid. First of all, I have pictures of the missing prices. Secondly, I would have had no way of knowing that the price for that item was as much as 18.00, because all the surrounding products were less than 10.00. If Costco’s policy is to raise their prices with the hopes that their memberships will not be aware, or to treat their members as imprudent idiots, I will have no parts of it. Therefore! I would like to request the price of my membership back and I will shop elsewhere, where they have some level of respect for their members. Darlene Morris
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THROUGH TO THE COSTCO TRAVEL AND AS YOUR PUT ON HOLD THEY KEEP HANGING UP ON ME! I HAVE BEEN CALLING SINCE 8:00 AM AND THEY STILL HANG UP ON ME WITHOUT EVEN SPEAKING TO ME! I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT COSTCO HAS SHE SAME CUSTOMER CARE THAT THEY ONCE HAD. I HAVE TRIED TO HELP FAMILY MEMBERS GET JOBS THERE AND IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU KNOW ANYONE THERE, THEY DO NOT CONTACT YOU OR CALL AND I SPEND A LOT OF MONEY THERE. I KNOW ITS TOUGH BUT YOU ARE HIRING A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO APPEAR TO BE STUDENTS AND THEY STAY A FEW WEEKS AND THERE GONE. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET HIRED BUT NO LUCK.
On June 6, 2010 at 12:18pm I was pumping gas with my 8 year old son when a fairly large brick (stacked rock) fell on his forhead I took photographs of the pillar and have the actual brick in my position, I then immediately went and took more pictures of his injuries which included a golf-ball size bump and gash then went in the store to speak to a manager and filled out a incident report, I ended up taking him to the emergency and to be quite frank the manager didn't show much concern, I have my bills and receipts, photographs etc in my position. I have yet to even receive a letter of concern from you people, I want compensation for the medical bills, which I have and will be advising with an attorney if I don't receive a response to this matter in a timely manner. Sincerely, Ramona Balow customer #83187382001 (store #771)
my husband has been an employee for costco since 2008. The one in spartanburg sc. In the begining he didnt like all the gossip and unfriendleness of people which put him in a bad mood daily. As time went by he realized he was wasting his energy having an attitude so he turned a new leauge, stood away from all the gossip and lies, smiled everyday didnt let anything bother him. He's been like this for a while now. Now a supervisor of a costco store seeing that kind of change in a person should make them very happy. Instead Amanda (supervisor) decides to be unprofessional, and hold a gruge towards my husband. My husband was hired as a part timer in 2008, he has put in for numerious positions and time and time again he gets turned down. The reason "because he has a "bad attitude". People with less time working there has gone up. My husband has changed his ways for months now, but because that supervisor wants to hold her own personal gruge against him he will never go any where in costco. I would never recomend costco for a job to anyone. We have had nothing but an experience from hell. My husband is the better person in this situation for changing his ways for the better, and not holding any gruges. Maybe someone from headquartes should go down to the costco in spartanburg sc and have a talk with amanda, and teach her how to ba a successful and professinal supervisor. Im at the point where i feel i need to call my lawer and file discrimanation towards my husband. Most people that work with my husband is seeing what she is doing and not liking it. I would love an email back if anyone cares enough about this situation. lopez7224@att.net

Your Warehouse Demo Services Dept. is in bad shape in Fountain Valley. Older people employed there are now being given few shifts which to live on while now the youth are taking over as new hires. I also notice a new demo lady in charge who must have come in and cleaned house. Does she not know what many of us are upset about is that you cannot replace the older with youth and get same results? I am told hours are being cut when I ask and that some have left who were fixtures there as they cannot subsist on little work. Yet, many young boys are now either on floor doing demos or left in charge over everyone and they appears if they have not left diapers too far behind. This smacks of discrimination. Does your company have any say in this? It DOES refelct on you as they are in your store. Other Costcos I have been in do not seem to have this issue as I see many elderly working other Costco area stores and you seem to employ all ages in your stores. What is the problem with Fountian Valley and its demo dept? Not good at all.
I love Costco and almost everything in the stores but, I found out that some items are stocked in the stores for a trial run. This "run" could be 2 years. I went to get my vitamin Biotin and shampoo Nioxin only to be told that they were deleted from the buying office because it was a "temporary item". If you are going to stock with these types of items could you please place a sign that it is temporary. If I had known that after a year I could not get them I would have bought several more and stored them away. Thanks
REGARDING COSTCO'S CUSTOMER SERVICE - ON LINE PURCHASES: Well the so called "delivery" date for the week of June 1, 2010 has come and almost gone without results. It is incongruous to wait this long on an order placed back in March 2010. It has become quite clear you obviously do not have the capability to assist with this matter - after my endless communications with Costco's "Customer Service". I am tired of waiting and/or getting canned responses. I am very dissapointed with the whole Costco on-line purchase experience. Costco tells me The Manufacturer is responsible for the delivery. Sorry guys I did not purchase the item from the Manufacturer - I bought the $1,600 + item from Costco. This whole thing is very sad. I trusted you. I am no longer capable of doing so. I will re-think my Executive Membership. It seems, by the look into this site, I am not the only one experiencing problems with Costco. If the trend continues you will have problems.
I usually have excellent experiences at costco, but not today. I needed to know the price of some tires so I called the Gilroy Costco Tire Center. I was told they have the tires I need but can't quote prices over the phone. They told me to look up the price online. I hung up and looked up the price. I called back to make sure I had the correct tire model and price and was told it was the right brand but the wrong model and to look it up again, only this time by size. I hung up and tried to look it up by size but it was not there so I called the warehouse back a third time and this time spoke to a supervisor. She looked up the tire for me, but before giving me the price, gave me a lecture on Costco's tire price quoting policy, which is they don't quote prices over the phone in case the price changes in an hour, but she was making an exception for me. What a ridiculous policy! Why not change the prices once in the middle of the night, then it would be o.k. to quote prices over the phone. Lot's of people do comparison shopping over the phone, especially for expensive items like tires. I guess Costco would rather lose business sticking with their ridiculous policy than get more business by making it easier for people to shop.
Have been applying at Costco for the last 2 and a half years..I've been in customer service all my life, owned 2 businesses. I've also worked for other retail after the businesses sold.I purchased all my supplies at Costco. I have bakery, service deli, cashier and stock experience. Yet I don't get a call for an interview. Is it because of my age..I think so..I am 58, never miss a day's work, come in extra when called, work overtime, yet a younger person with no experience is hired instead of me. I have asked the younger workers what experience they've had, none or very little. It's usually a relative that has got them hired. I will not renew my membership again if this is how Costco treats the mature worker. Also the Costco I shop at is a big click..so many employee's the same age, and alway's laughing, caring on and talking about the next party.
