I love Costco but I have no illusion about what makes it a great place to shop: the return policy! The buyers generally do a good job sifting through choices and finding good products at reasonable prices. But every so often, they just miss the boat completely. When that happens, you realize that the warehouse staff are simply clueless or perhaps just powerless to do anything but give you a refund. I am sure the staff hear all sorts of stories from all kinds of people. But shouldn't there be a process for escalating issues that sound legitimate? A refund is great. But those returned products are costing me and every other member money in the form of slightly higher prices. Here's an example of the kind of thing I don't like about Costco. A few years ago, I ordered a faucet kit for a clawfoot tub from costco.com. The kit I got was completely wrong. Not wrong as in "I expected a red apple but I got a green one" but as in "I expected a red apple but I got a curling iron". I returned the kit to the warehouse where the manager suggested it's a shipping mistake and recommends ordering another one. So I did. A week later, I get the exact same wrong parts. So I decided to get to the bottom of this. Several calls to Customer Service later, I finally spoke with the buyer who had no clue what was going on and referred me to the manufacturer. I called the manufacturer and I finally speak to the one person who handles the items for Costco. She went down to the factory floor, got a faucet kit then got on Costco.com to look at the product. It took her all of two seconds to see that something was clearly wrong. What Costco was selling and what they were shipping were two distinct and different products. She checked some more and confirmed that they were shipping what they were contracted to make for Costco. Costco bought one product. Someone put a different product on the website. I get it. It happens. It's a complicated world. But shouldn't one of the many, many Costco employees I spoke to about the mistake have been able to correct it?

I am very impressed and amazed with bitter people like you sir,,you are retired, a costco member for 30 years so you must be about 75? is vinegar the only product costco sells? do you care a little bit about the economy of this country at all? you said you have the resources to exposed this company, could you use those resources to check how many people costco has under their payroll? if this company wasn't around how many thousands of people would be without a job? c'mon sir ocupy your time doing some good for your neighbors, your family, use your knowledge to do some good where is needed, do something constructive. I am also retired and had too much time on my hands, getting bored and bitter like you are now, didn't like myself so I decided to get a part time job working from home and help people who needs help. We already have enough caos in this country, relax and enjoy the last years of your life, don't like certain company? go directly to the main source. Who is your corporate book buyer - I assume you have one for all the stores. Two of my friends and I went to the Costco in Thousand Oaks, CA to buy Marcia Clark's new book, "Guilt By Association." I/We had read about it on several blogs and all the reviews are good and when we went to Costco to buy the hardcover (it's Marcia Clark after all -- potential collector's piece) you're not carrying it. Costco in london ontario has employees that use fake names and identification. I have tried to tell management several times providing them with proof, but there seems to be a serious accountability issues. They don't want to know what kind of trash bags they are hiring. There are many honest hard working deserving people that need jobs, to have them taken away by illegal immigrants. It would take 10 mins to figure this out and do the proper thing, but they really don't seem to care. I will be going public with this matter and will be flying a banner in my car that says "Costco hires Illegal immigrants and will show any one who asks me about with documented proof! I find this method of protest VERY effective in the past. As long as I tell the truth and have proof to back it up (I do!)I can't get in trouble for slander because its fact and can back it up ! Its really to bad that it has to resort to this in order for them to take notice, but it will most likely get them to respond. Shame on you costco !

Costco has become and is the worst place I have EVER shopped !! The produce is disgusting and the other food products are ALWAYS very close to expiration date and we pay top dollar for food the would be greatly reduced or considered unmarketable by ANY other store standards! It is also appear ant that there are employees there that are working under assumed names and fake immigration papers! When brought up to managements attention proof provided, photos of employee and copy of real immigration papers they just deny that person ever worked there although many people are aware of the truth and know this person in fact works there to this very day! I have also witnessed Very disrespectful behavior displayed by costco staff towards customers! Complaints go ignored ! Costco has no accountability it seems and is hiring some people who they don't know who they are. When giver evidence it is covered up. The eye glass department is run by kids that are not properly trained in the field and repeatedly give customers improper eye glasses. This is no bar gin. Employees don't have a clue what they are selling and can not provide any information when asked. It is like the staff are a bunch of ghosts wandering the isles and when approached with basic questions they vanish!costco is a rip off and the reason things seem cheap there is because the products are last year, or older models or extremely close to their expirey dates. They enable the employees to disrespect customers and be ignorant. After 12 years of membership and thousands of doars spent at costco I will never even consider renewing a membership or even entering a costco store ever again, I will also be telling EVERY one I know for years to come how rotten costco has become!! I just wish I was as brave as the other family in my city who drives with a banner in their car window that says something to the effect ... "COSTCO CANADA HIRES ILLEAGLES... Ask me about it " nice advertising for costco I find this very funny !!

Love shopping at Costco but wish you would open earlier especially in the summertime here in El Centro, California because starting in May thru Aug. the temps here are HOT & it would be nice to go early in the mornings. Sam's Club opens up for business people at 7 AM & regular hours at 9 AM especailly when you want to shop at Costco its about an hours drive or a little more. Hope you take up this suggestion especialy in the summer months here out West.

Dear Mr. Sinegal,    First off let me start by telling you how much I love Costco.  Up until last week I, shopped at Costco three or four times of week. Driving in from Edgewood about a 45 minute trip to do my shopping at your store located on Eubank. But on my last visit I was profoundly embarrassed, and upset, and hurt beyond repair by some of the actions of two of your employees.  I am partially handicapped I went deaf when I was thirteen years old. My laugh is awkward and funning to my husband and I.  Thanks to technology I am abel to hear again, but some things still remain(my laugh).   On my last visit i was talking to my husband on my phone and I was laughing about some remarks he made.  Behind me I could hear one of your cashier(Isaiah) mimicking me. At first I thought it was just a coincidence then I saw my cashier(Adam) look up at him and start doing the same thing. Making fun of me as though I wasn't even there. Mocking me laughing right in my face. I asked Adam "are you guys serious?"  and he laughed and said " this is how I laugh"  and isaiah chimed in again laughing.  At this point I am very upset and near tears when a woman in a red vest who over heard all this came up and told the two boys to stop.  And they continued on with mocking me and acted as though she wasn't there. She apologized to me and asked me to wait while she got a manager Adam then stated " doesn't matter who she gets I do what I want.." At that point i left. I was horrified, uncomfortable, embarrassed, angry and, disgusted,  not only are you allowing your employees to disrespect customers but other employees also. No wonder this behavior is going on at your warehouse.  I am appalled by this behavior not just to me but your employees who have to work there and the countless number of people these two have probably offended in their time at Costco.  I will not be going back to Costco anytime so. My family and friends will join me in this.  I want to know what you plan on doing about this.  I took time and thought about it, I am giving you a chance to correct this problem internally. Without me getting others involved. I just want to know that I can go into your stores without the worry of being harassed, mocked and put down. I don't  want to feel like I'm the butt of your cashiers jokes. I don't believe I'm asking to much. I read your mission statement and let me say this violates the whole thing. "to continually provide our members with quality goods and services...by following the code of ethics." Seems to me you have gotten away from your core values and what you stand for. COSTCO SUCkS what is the point of getting. Membership and being able to bring somebody as a guest but they can't pay.! We just spent two hours getting georceries && they deny us at the register after they ring everything up thanks a lot we really needed the food.

I'm not impressed with the Cosco operation. The corporation does not care what is in the products sold. Lead in Balsamic vinegar, Talc in vitamins, and much more. You do not care for your customer base. Health issues are not significant to the corporation. I am on a mission to search and disclose the crap you sell to the general public. I did disclose the lead in Balsamic vinegar from Spain to the Cosco in San Marcos Ca. You did not remove it from the shelf. You can take me for what ever you want, however, I will do my best to expose you and the poor products you sell to your customer base. I'm retired and have the resources to expose you to the shopping public in the USA. Try Me! The internet is a wonderful tool. I'm aware of you be a Billion dollar corporation, and also aware of your resources, I will work to show the customers of Cosco, how little you care about their health. I have been a member at Costco since 1984 and it is my favorite place to shop. I buy as much of my day to day food and household items there because the selection -value cannot be beat. I trust their quality and know am getting the best price on a regular basis. I don't understand all you complaining consumers- switch to SAMs? Never. In Washington- therefor a reason costco is packed while sans club is a,most empty. I challenge you whiners to do some more research and you will understand why Costco is superior to a SAMs.

I have been employed @ wharehouse 648 and i need help i don't think it's right how ppl go for jpbs and they just give them to who theyy want and not who qualify for it .i work well useing oyr code of ethics.i obey the law .take very good care of our members and suppliers and take good care of my co workers .i know there is no i in team.i get4to5 comment cards, a week all the time members think i'm a manager or superviser they way i take care of them @ 648.i just need help my whare house manager helps me but he's away right now he got married but can some 1 help ms please .and i also use you mission statement to ensure any member has what they want and need .Do you care? Bad customer service, non responsive manager.Costco, Los Feliz, has gone down in customer service and quality. Empty produce boxes everywhere, bad fruit and vegetables never removed.Employees are rude and disrespectful. I guess, service is not priority, making money is.

I heard that Costco supports the radical left propagandists of spend and spend more of our tax dollars. The left are all liars and cheats trying to destroy our foundation which is the constitution. I will not be supporting costco anymore!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoping this is corporate headquarters, if not, please let me know as that is who I want to contact. I have had some very distressing experiences the last few times at Covington Costco, Covington, WA. The last SEVEN times I've been in, my number must 'flag' the 'convert employee' who spends my complete checkout time 'sharing the benefits' of gold membership vs. what I have, totally distracting me from checking out. After 5 of these episodes, I told them upfront to save their time for the next person, I know the 'story' and don't need to hear it any longer....however, they did not stop. It is now harassment. On the last visit, being 'harassed' by 'convert employee', I was unable to pay attention to checking out, etc... and my garlic bread was not put into my cart...unnoticed until I got home! and frustrated as I needed it for dinner that night! :( Two weeks later, (today), I'm shopping there & put the garlic bread in my cart, told the checker that it was not noticed that it was not put in my cart last time, due to the continuing harassment of 'learning the benefits of gold membership', and he told me that I'd have to go to customer service about that, which I agreed to; in the meanwhile, he called over another person, (possibly a manager? I'd never seen her before, a dark haired, somewhat overweight woman), who proceeded to ask me "how long ago did this happen?", I replied "2 weeks, last time I was in"....she offered no apology, no kindness, no smile, didn't even acknowledge 'me', as a person...just a quirky "just move her out of here, I don't want to mess around with this". OMG! I felt like one of the cattle??? She did not even talk in 'first person'; she responded to him as if I were not standing there "move HER out" . I proceeded to (reluctantly) thank her, with absolutely no response. She was incredibly rude & thoughtless. For the $5 that the garlic bread cost, she sure lost a lot of credibility for Costco, which has already been waining. It's not my fault your employees are now harassing us to death to change memberships! Even when I ask them TO STOP! they won't. I see your customer service going downhill in a BIG way. We aren't morons; we don't need to be 'told' endlessly before we can make an intelligent decision. Come on....that is HARASSMENT!!!!!!! Who wants that when they are shopping???? PLEASE take my number off your list to beckon someone over when I shop!!! I'll also mention, since I'm writing this, that I see your quality changing, so sadly, as that is what Costco has always been about, in my mind........you changed from a wonderful product in 'puppy pads' to a very cheap, incomparable product for the same price! Some are saying that Costco is 'going walmart' and I am beginning to believe it. Very sad. You will lose me as a customer for certain. I do NOT enjoy being harassed each & every time I check out, by someone trying to inform me how much more I could save. When I ASK THEM to stop, I expect them to respect my wishes & move on. When I lose merchandise by not being allowed to follow my checkout, due to harassment from your 'convert employees' running over to me when my 'number' comes up, and then have to ask for a meager little purchase as garlic bread in my next venture to costco, as it was left out of my cart, I am treated as if I'm lying & trying to 'pull one over'.........PLEASE, give me a break! If I wanted to 'steal' I would have asked for something better like the artichoke hearts you've raised by a dollar a jar! I don't need to shop Costco any more if this is the way it's going down........yes, I DO spend a lot of money there, but I can easily go to Sam's Club. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, but I am fed up with the harassment at each & every checkout in Covington, and the very disrespectul way I was treated today by some brunette woman that wanted me 'out the door' with no trouble on her part....she had absolutely no diplomacy, no customer service skills, no smile, no nothing..........you are going downhill in customer service as well as choosing cheap products over the quality products you have been known for.............no bargains here. Beginning to hate going to Costco to shop...the whole experience is disheartening, bigtime, not at all like Costco 'used to be'.............yours truly.

You have the most foul mouth, disrespectful manager at costco store located on winchester and hacks cross rd. in Memphis, Tn. I was standing in the check out line when I overheard her cursing and yelling at the cashier, and it didn't stop there. When I told her everyone could here her, she said she didn't care,I later found out her name is Disrespectful Gloria Henley.

I was very pleased to learn from Greenpeace that Costco has adopted a more sustainable seafood policy. I have often purchased your frozen shrimp and fin fish but have avoided orange roughy and halibut because I know these are in danger of being overfished. Now Costco will not be offering these species for sale. Other steps will be taken related to better aquaculture and a more sustainable tuna industry. Thank you Costco. My husband and I will share this information with our friends who are Costco members.We like patronizing more responsible entities.
