just moved to a new apt. my husband and i opted for charter because our old apartment had some great deal with Charter, where you got internet and cable [basic expanded...minus several channels] for $20. I had a lot of problems with the internet, and many cable channels said "this channel should be available shortly" a majority of the time, but hey, it was $20. Well, we moved to a new place that does not have that deal, and they basically wanted us to pay $110 for the same crappy service, and they don't even take American Express [sheesh, at least let me get some frequent flyer miles out of the deal since I never know if I'll actually get cable and/or internet for my $110]. needless to say, I cancelled my service after one month and three days. I will only be charter's fool for so long. Now we have TDS [and yes they have their problems too, but not as much as Charter] BUT it is easier to put up with crappy service when you are paying $50/$110 per month
I spent two hours trying to connect with technical support this evening. I was first dir4ected to the billing department in Mexico, after specifically asking for tech support. When I explained my problem, the "person" began asking what was the problem. Then "he" tried to help me. AFter a few minutes, he admitted that he could not help me that he was in the billing department and he would have to connect me with tech support. That took another hour after I had waited an hour to get connected to the wrong department. Charter Communications is a "rip off". I hope against hope we will soon get someone to replace this theft. I am not getting the programs I am paying for. When I spoke with an agent, I was told that I had to click OK on the program to bring it in. THAT IS DUMB, DUMB, DUMB. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING CANCELING CHARTER AND SUBSCRIBING TO DIRECT. THIS IS JUST A PONZI SCHEME. THE VIP'S ARE REAPING THE RICHES, WHILE WE DUMB HILLBILLIES ARE PAYIING THEIR SALARIES. GOODBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To people who care, I got connected with Charter Cable and Internet in January of 2012. I have complained, nicely, about their poor broadcast of the National Hockey League Channel. They don't offer the NHL Channel in HD. Their standard broadcast has been horrible since I first got connected. Several technicians agreed that it was not the cable box or the cabling. This leaves the problem squarely with the source. After seven months of the run a round, I finally cancelled cable TV. They wanted my HD box, but I had a lot of movies on it. I told them that I would be willing to continue paying the $15 per month fee to be able to see my recorded movies and sporting events. Today, I realized that they made my HD cable box inoperative. I've lost all of my recordings. This is certainly unfair, and it is not right that they are blatantly thumbing their nose at me. What kind of company is Charter? They are only interested in getting money from us. They are not at all interested in customer service. It's all lip service. It's absolutely insulting to give money to a company like this. I only ask for fair and reasonable service for the money that I pay them. Why do they continue to take our money and not give us quality? I don't have the answer to this. I know the world is full of takers, but this is beyond the pale. Very disappointed, Jim Radigan
got my bill today ,changed my plan last month told that it would be cheaper. Wasn't getting what I asked for ,to make a long story short got my bill $50 more then before call Charter can't credit your account til next month. What !!!!!!! not paying that 50 no matter what
Charter claims the fastest internet and since we only use one at a time, it is hard to compare, but it's at least better than dial-up -- at least when it's up and running. it seems to me that we are too frequently on down-time for a company that claims speed and consistency with connectivity. Happened again lays evening to knock us out of the Olympic coverage (also poor from NBC. One would think, and certainly expect, that a company making claims like Charter does would, by this time, have a tech department that can fix the system in less than 5 hours, plus what's keeping them from doing what is stressed for we users to do - "Backup" your system and your files. It may be hi-tech, but having 5 hours of downtime at one shot is not exactly in that category. They should have a full reserve that can be brought to use with a flick of a master switch. When they do that, I'll also stop complaining about the lousy TV channel package selection options - way too few, and not enough attention to anything but who spends the money on their advertisers. Who cares what we are obliged to watch. Two channels is enough for anybody- right?! I know - I have an on/off switch, but I still have to pay the piper.
Recently, one of Charters Techs came onto my property to ascertain a problem with their junction box which they have an easement to..... Their tech destroyed the foliage around the box, when I got in touch with their office, I was assured that this would be resolved within the week.....Im still waiting 2 months later. SOOOOOOO.....sorry neighbors, if your cable goes out again,,,,Charter will NOT have access to this cble box. They abused the right of privelege to their easement by destroying my property, so they do not have access anymore. If they do try, I will have thir tech arrested for tresspass, and I will soux Charter.
Charter Communications is a rip off and have been doing to people for years. I have been with them for 5 years. They changed my plan that was suppose to accomodate me by lowering my bill and losing TMC. They changed it alright, then lost other channels that I wasn't suppose to and told me that i would have to pay additional money, If I wanted that channel. They then told me, when asked to have all the Premium channels removed and to just have the basic Cable Channels without the Premium channels, the phone and the cable, would run me the same price. WHAT KIND OF FOOL DID THEY TAKE ME TO BE? That's like telling someone, "SINCE YOU BOUGHT A LEATHER JACKET AND THE OTHER PERSON BOUGHT A MINK, I HAVE TO CHARGE YOU THE SAME PRICE, EVEN THOUGH YOUR COAT IF FAR LESS IN VALUE, THEN THE MINK". Their customer service as well as their business, ranks lower than an alley cat scrambling through the garbage in the worst ghetto area you could find. I don't stay with Charter because i want to, but because my area doesn't carry anything else. I will be starting a petition and hoping that Time Warner Cable would come in and relieve a lot of people from their misery, with this BOGUS COMPANY! They are lier, theives and If they think they will get another dime out of me, they are sadly mistaken.
I had decent service. That wasn't the issue. When I was I college, my dad would pay my Charter bill. This went on for two years. In June, I canceled my service I . didn't have charter. Long story short, my dad had over paid by 650$, and they are now refusing to give him his money back. It has been over two months, and we have called multiple times, and every time it is a different excuse. It clearly shows on the bill that they owe my father -650.00, and they have agreed. They basically said that they need to "process" the check. They just can't seem to be able to cough it up. As far as I'm concerned, they are thieves, and my father and I are filing a lawsuit on Monday morning.
I live in a nice subdivision in Sevier County TN. I have been trying for over a year to get Charter to service our sub (absolutely no provider in it). I finally got through to have an escalation report to be submitted for review. The local construction foreman LIED in the report and claims our sub lies 6 miles away from the end of the service line. The entrance to the sub is exactly 435 feet from the end. There is only 5280 feet in a mile. A local rep told me that the construction foreman is the laziest SOB he has ever dealt with, and will not run new service to anything that isn't fast and easy. I told the escalation team that the claim of being 6 miles away wasn't true. They said that they had to go by what the construction manager turned in. I promptly told them that they were missing a golden opertunity to aquire 87 new customers, and his ass needed to be fired. If we agree to pay $600,000, we can get it. What BS! I'm sure that outrageous fee is based on the belief we are 6 miles and not 400 plus feet away. Wish there was another company besides the Char-tards to deal with. If I have my way with the next county commissioners meeting, we will! Hopefully they will kick there lazy asses out of Sevier County.
I have had Charter for a long time (for lack of better options), and I have always been disatisfied with the way they run their business. We moved into a new home and had our service switched to this house and they had to come drill holes for the cable and hook up all the rooms. The man that showed up was not friendly, complained about his job while he was here, and then came and told us he was done and left. 30 minutes later, I walk into my daughter's room and there was just a hole drilled, no cable wire....I walk into my son's room and he had left some of his tools laying in the floor and the cable wire not even hooked up to the T.V....Went into to our room and we didn't have cable in there...he had even left the service door to under the house wide open. We called Charter and they said they would have to put another work order in for someone to fix it. We scheduled an appointment and I sat here ALL DAY (like I don't have better things to do) and no one showed up. I called and they said they didn't know why he hadn't came, that he must have been backed up and would show up the next day. I waited, no one came. It's been 3 months now and even after numerous conversations with our local Charter office, we still do not have our problem fixed....so 2 of my kids have cable, one doesn't, and we don't in our room. It is frustrating. If we had another cable provider to choose from we would definitely switch!
When Astound was the cable co in st cloud it was great then charter bought them up and it has been pure hell ever since. if you want customer service you have to call 1888 get charter and deal with a computer asking numerous questions that the computer will probably get wrong, then you have to wait on hold for a human till hell freezes over, when you get a human the human will make you jump through hoops anking numerous questions the human claims if for your protection, the human will claim to have taken care of the problem but most likely did not, if you ask for a supervisor you will be told the supervisor is not available, never is a supervisor unavailable to a subordinate, the supervisor will probably tell you problem resolved but just wait most likely it is not. When you call back later and tell someone so and so told me on such and such a date the person you are talking to will tell they have no record of that sorry!!! Can't wait for competition to come to st cloud so I can replace charter. By the way the corporate number of 636 207 5100 is not answered if you don't allready know this.
I have never had a company lie to me as consistently as Charter does - I only hve cable service with them because our county leaders get to choose who our provider is. They recently called to offer a free digital box and a drop in price of $20 per month. We kept the box for 24 hours after unhooking it after one hour - the picture kept shrinking, the channels disappeared. It was awfut and was returned the next day. Now I've received my first bill and, guess what? Not only did the bill double but the amount is for a partial month. Ever try talking to these people about your bill? Forget it. They know that they don't have to do anything. If I don't pay it, they'll ruin my credit. I'm on a hunt now for a senior level person that I can actually talk to but I hvae little hope it will do any good. I knew I was going to get screwed when they called with this offer - wish I'd listened to myself.
I turned my bedroom TV on the other day and wasn't getting my regular channels. We'd had a bad storm the night before, so I thought it was a weather-related issue. I called Charter (with whom I also have phone and Internet service) to report the problem. To my utter amazement, I was told that I would now have to get a cable box for each of my 2 extra TVs - at an additional monthly charge of $5 per box!! I already pay $90/month for TV service, am a long-time customer, and have been generally ok with Charter. Now I feel taken advantage of and that Charter has reneged on their original contract with me. I have attempted to renegotiate my channel lineup and was told that I couldn't. SO WHY CAN CHARTER REDO THEIR CONTRACT WITH ME??? Damn - I am so P-Od! I did NOT get the 2 boxes, so I'm stuck. I live in the sticks and don't have another viable option. Charter should be ashamed of this newest change and additional charge. I'll rot and go to Hell before I give them another dime. Thanks for letting me vent...
Ordered service June 23rd (it is now July 27), was simply told service was available to my new house. Contractors have been to my house four or five times now, can't seem to figure out what to do to install it, no one at Charter HQ knows anything. Today there was another tech at my house and he asked iof I was quoted on "the construction project for this" yet. WHAT? I asked him if it was going to be hundreds of dollars, and he said, Oh, it's going to be A LOT more than that." They expect people to pay thousands of dollars so they can be a customer? Are they out of their minds? Don't even THINK about contacting these fools for internet, TV or phone. They suck.
They require you to provide your address and or phone before showing you what service deals they have to offer? As they say, what is available to you! I am not one for more government but, when a company like Charter is your ONLY choice aside of attaching the Eyesore dish on your house, do you really have a choice? I am dumping Charter! I Really wish more people would do the same! By the way, they discontinued their "Basic" unless you are grandfathered you can keep it. My guess is they will slowly increase the price of that! We need competitive and realistic choices.
ive had charter for almost 2 years now, at first it was good the internet was fast and never had a problem with cable. but for the past few months the internet has gotten really slow. me and my husband are huge computer gamers and we cant even get through a single game without it lagging every 5 seconds or disconnecting itself. my bill was at 120 a month and now its nearly 170. i refuse to pay for horrible service, if they dont fix it soon i will be finding another company
Why am I unable to call a local phone number to contact a local Rep/Tech when I am having a internet problem ? I have to get in my truck and go over to the local office and talk to the person you pay your bill to ? . Then I must describe the problem and be told I should buy more bandwidth . I explain that it is an intermittent problem and could it be that charter is pinging me ? No answer . Then they want to send out a tech so it can be determined that every thing is fine , well it sure is then like I said it is an interment problem . I am keeping a record of all the issues that I am having using the internet and will at least try to go with a different provider in the near future . If the tech could be here when there was a problem then maybe it would be resolved , but I really think the tech/charter knows what is the problem but do not want to recognize it because then they have to fix it $$$ out of there pocket . POOR POOR customer service .
I didn't want to give them even 1 star !!! My cable ...bundle....went out Friday of last week . Today ( Tuesday ) between 1-3pm will be the 5th person to come and ...maybe ...see about this sorry cable company's service ! I have had to call and call and call and explain and explain until I want to throw up. If you have ANY OTHER choice at all ....I suggest you use it.
Tech came today to install internet, but left and did NO WORK! Said I needed to get a wireless router because they do not do that. WTF? I did not ask them to do wireless, just hook up the modem. I have a Linksys wireless working with DSL now with at&t. What a shit head! Called 5 times they could not tell me why their tech did no work, NOTHING! These assholes are brain dead! I thought at&t sucked, how do you top at&t no service? Easy get Charter.
CEO OF CHARTER I an fed up with my cable bill going higher and higher each month. I only have expanded basic and the internet. Our internet service is hit and miss. It's on and off and on and off. I am fed up too with hardly no movies and the movies that are there are RE-RUNS...on a zillion times. the other shows are so dirty who wants to watch that mess? Not me. Charter is the worse service company there is....Dirty shows, re-run movies and hit and miss internet. And I'm paying $129.00 a month for that?
