This Company became the worst rental company in the US. There customer serice is so poor I will never rent from them again. Even if you try to reach their customer service they will offer you nothing but to file a claim number - basically to make you feel they care... They should change their slogan from "we try harder" to "we hardly try" I rented a car from a Broolyn NY location and was never offered a "lost key insurance" I thought I had lost my keys and when I called they told me it will cost me 250 dollars to make a key and that I had declined that insurance when in actuality I was never ofered that insurance plan. To top this off, the rep at the counter in the Atlantic office by the name of Beverly was rude and nasty to me. i opened a case number for this and a guy called me back by the name of Tucker from customer service telling me that he would hate to loose a customer. of course nothing happened after that.... I rented again a car in Fort Lauderdale and the rep that rented the car from me told me that after my rental they will drop me off in a near by location. When I returned my rental the Avis rep told me that because it is a bad economy and that since he is privately owned location he cannot take me anywhere and offered me no transportation!! When I called Mr. Tucker again - all I was told is that he is sorry.... Basically this company has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I recommend going to other "smaller" companies that actually care about their name and customers!!!
I have read all the comments on this site. I must give credit and praise to Ms Johnnie Peet a Airport Manager at Hartsfield. Ms Peet went beyond her duty to assist with my crisis, during the snow storm of Jan 8th-15th. She was very pleasant when I had enquired about not being able to return my rental to her location. She was very kind to make it happen that I was able to return the car to a near location. She is an asset to the Corporation.
The experience i've had with Avis Budget Group has been the worst i've ever had with any Business. I've had a cliam that i've been trying to resolve over a year and i've done everything that has been ask of me,the telephones calls that i've made wasn't returned and not to mention the Nasty Attitude was Awful. Avis Budget Group should be Ranked the lowest as lowest can get and that's a Zero (O).
Customer Service is Terrible and they have a Funky Attitude...DO NOT Never Ever Rent from Avis Budget Group, it's a Shame that these peoples runs a Business and they don't know how to run it Properly. Peoples take your business elsewhere please.... Yours Truly
I rented a vehicle from Budget/Avis and traveled in it for 9 hours with my fiancee and 2 dogs (both housebroken), and we are non-smokers. During the trip there were no damages, spills, accidents, stains, etc. Within a few days of returning the vehicle, I received a letter stating that due to "excessive stains, dirt, soilage or violoation of the Smoke Free Fleet" regulation", I was being charged $150 on my credit card. I called their office, and was told that the issue was it took extra time to remove dog hair from the vehicle. Obviously I was upset. We had laid down the backseat in the midsize SUV, and placed blankets down as bedding for the dogs. One month later, and I have yet to have a supervisor or customer service reprensentative forward me the photo evidence they have, much return my emails or phone calls. I've rented with this company for many years, spent thousands of dollars, and they are willing to let me walk away for $150 excessive cleaning charge. The sad part is, Budget/Avis allows pets in their vehicles, which means they assume some form of pet hair removal when any vehicle is returned. Otherwise, they need to 1) Not allow pets in their vehicles or 2) Notify customers up front that there will be a non-refundable charge of $xxx for cleaning if you travel with a pet. This way it is upfront and forward, and not behind the back, vague, and just bad business. I will pay a higher rental price for Enterprise, Hertz, etc instead of renting with Budget/Avis ever again.
i see i'm not alone in this. me and buddy FLEW to nashville, confirmed budget truck reservation day before, and several times the morning of, prior to getting to budget outlet. no truck, no alternative, inventory control was supposed to call us back within 2 hours, twiddled our thumbs while the whole day passes without the phone call, had 3 guys (who we had to pay) lined up waiting for us to arrive with truck to help with the loading, couldn't find anything else (it was a sunday), finally had to rent car to drive back to florida sunday night, without the furniture we needed to get to florida. will have to go back up to do it at some point, at now double the expense. it wasn't the initial unavailability of the truck, it was them leaving us hanging all day without the promised call-back, no alternative offered, and their unwillingness to offer a truck at a later date at a justifiable discount because we will now have to get back to tennessee to get our furniture, at now double the cost. i know they are untouchable legally, but i will spend the rest of my natural life telling people about them (i've already told a dozen friends in less than a week), just like everyone else here is doing i'm sure, hopefully they too spread the word, and these kinds of things can spread a lot quicker than they probably think. "budget sucks, boycott them and affiliates" goes viral, i hope.
I worked for Avis Budget customer service, which is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They couldn't care less about their customers or their employees. I was terminated without cause, supposedly for failing my certification. I supposed I failed it because I resolved too many of the issues that the customers were calling in about. At least a quarter of the customers were calling in because they were swindled by the counters, for many, the swindle doesn't end there. This company is very unethical in general. A few nice people work there, but would you be surprised to know it's run by incompetent rubes and a lot of the higher ups are extremely lazy, rude, and actually hateful. Rent from anybody but Avis or Budget, you are better off that way. Tip: If you do foolishly rent from them, verify your contract, because they always slip insurance on there and trick people into signing it. That's the number one issue people call in about. At Avis Budget, it's all a swindle.
I made the reservation online for a budget truck four days in advance for my move called and confirmaed and also recieved confirmation email. I loaded up my two very small children in -14 degree weather to get the truck and it was not there. The guy at the pick up location did not even know what I was talking about. We called budget's Customer Service and the lady would not even let my husband get a word in. Worse Company ever I have never rented a truck for a move before so this was horrible thank goodness another comapny at least cares and values customers and I was able to get a moving truck tonight from the other company.
I won't be renting from AVIS again...the 5 % discount I was given at time of rental was very disappointing seeing that I rented one of your largest vehicle...and the 20% tax charge was outrageous... plus the customer service I received at that location is less to be desired...I usually rent from Enterprise but seeing that your company offers UPS employees discounts I figure I would utilize that discount but I was sadly mistaken...I'm thinking about writing our Corporate office regarding this matter...it was truly a disappointing experience...
If there were an option for "0" stars, I would have chosen it. This company should send its CEO packing. Their airport offices, web and 800 number components are not in sync with each other. Customer service was "closed on Sunday." Your company has a serious problem, sir, and in this economic climate, you don't need any issues with customer service.
Budget recently sent me a letter to tell me that the car I rented 2 months ago (which had a flat tire while I was driving it) had repairs which were my responsibility to pay for. My credit card was charged $183.99 and there is nothing I can do about it. At the time I returned the car they didn't indicate that I would be charged for the problem with their car. Gosh, if the car had no oil and a blown engine while I was driving it, would I be charged for buying them a new one? Hmm. Fraud. Outright Fraud.
This is by far the worst service I have ever received when renting a car and believe me, over the years I have rented many vehicles. The details are too extensive to go into detail but the service was poor from the time I made my reservation until I returned the vehicle. The vehicle was not very clean (outside and inside), the vehicle had to be swapped out because warning lights kept coming on, the manager was rude, I was not charged the price I was quoted, on and on and on.
Dear Budget, I have recently had a bad encounter with the Richland,Washington branch of YOUR rental/sales store. The general manager was pretty stand off-ish in our pursuit of a pre owned car that was traded in. I knew of the cars history and thought It would be a good project for the local troubled youths. I made what I thought was a fair offer on the 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle. She told me she had $1000 into it and would not take $1400 although they had done nothing to the vehicle and it has been sitting for 2 months now. I was disapointed at that point and VERY much so as she refused to return my $50 deposit. At no time was a non-refundable clause implied, stated, or given in written form. I believe I should be returned my money along with an apology from Budget, as my wife and I are very loyal rental customers in the past and did rent in, Santa Fe,N.M.,San Francisco, Ca, Washington DC, and would have rented in Chicago, Il, but no SUV's were available. The GM is Shelley Horton, but I choose not to deal with her any longer and I believe with a photo copy of the driving agreement, and receipt that the corporate end could facilitate that function. I am shopping now for future companies to rent from because prior to this event we have had superior customer service and thought that would be the same here, I guess not. Please convince me that your company has a soul. Respectfully Mark Pitman Christine Rzesutek Please check our rental past with your data base.
I will NEVER go to Budget again. I read the online policy for using a debit card, it said SOME places MAY run your credit score, if you didn't meet those requirments, a third form of identification MAY be requested. My credit sucks, so I brought a third and fourth form. In Canton/Akron airport all the stations close at midnight. The Budget lady ran my credit but by the time she told me I couldn't rent a car, all the other counters were closed! She actually closed her counter, leaving me stranded in the airport after midnight with my 8 year old son!
Rented a saturn outlook out of Midland odessa airport to take my husband to dallas on sept 27, 2010. Car was filthy. lady at counter was very rude. took car home cleaned out myself. Left that same day to dallas to hospital where my husband underwent surgery for colon cancer. returned car on oct 4 to dallas love field airport. the guy didnt even check the car or have me sign anything just gave me a receipt. i went in and asked the woman if i needed to sign anything or go over vehicle. she said no....BIG MISTAKE....oct 20 i got charged a 165 cleaning fee...i called and they directed me to Brenda Fredman...i asked her what the charge was for and she said the car was dirty..i said i returned it nicer then i received it..she went on to say that they was pet hair in the car that i carried a dog in there....i explained to her the purpose of why i rented the car and she argued with me.. i told her i wanted pictures..she never returns my phone calls never sent me the pictures..well in nov 16 they charged me another 165...still cant get ahold of this woman...and have taled to about 25 people who can not help me....this company sucks. if they dont know how to help u then what is the pont of being in customer service...so i am still fighting these two 165 charges....will never rent from them again. i always use enterprise and thought ud give avis a chance...boy was i wrong...what a joke cant even get the CEO information...
Lean & mean is the Avis/Budget motto. Mostly mean top with Bob Salerno leading from the top. This guy has a reputation as the industries number one hachet man. Diversity means agree with me or loose your head. Not a place to work at or rent from if you have an ounce of humanity in you.
I rented a car from budgetat BWI Airport for my son and prepaid it through the internet. When my son got to the counter to pick it up the service rep told him he had a choice between a malibu or a impala. He choose the impala. The girl told him she would need a credit card to hold until the car was returned. I gave them one of my cards and was charged a $189.45 on it., The customer service rep said it would all be refunded once the car was returned. I called customer service and they said it would be refunded back on my car in 48 hours. To make a long story short, they refunded my card $69.37 and said I had a upgrade and picked the car up an hour early. I wrote to the CEO and never heard anything back. I will NEVER rent from budget again and will let everyone I know about this problem. I will make sure this gets around so no one will rent from them. This is the most disappointing and stressful thing I every went through with a company.
We rented a car in Phoenix to drive to Las Vegas. While there, the car was stolen from the parking garage at the hotel. When we reported the car stolen to Budget, they refused to rent us a car to get home- it's against their policy to rent a car to someone if the car is stolen - as if it is my fault. So, they essentially stranded us in Vegas. Next we received a letter from their "Security" department telling us that neither Avis or Budget will ever rent to us again because the vehicle was stolen. The letter said if we had questions, we had to write to the person at the address on the envelope - No phone number on the letter. As a very long time customer, I was surprised by this attitude. Apparently if your car is stolen, it's your fault. Be very careful of ever using Budget or Avis.
Do not, I repeat DO NOT call Avis Rental thinking that you can pay with a Government Credit Card over the phone; you physical have to be at there location to pay with a government credit card. Called Customer service to try to reverse the changes from a soldiers credit card and could not!! This will cause major pay problems for my soldier. It seems that once they receive payment, a "We do not care attitude sets in"!!! Avis Rental is not the Rental Agency for Government missions. I repeat DO NOT GO TO AVIS RENTAL FOR GOVERNMENT MISSIONS!!!!!!! If I had been informed regarding there charge card policy ahead of time we would not have used AVIS RENTAL FOR OUR MILITARY MISSION.
This company needs to dump the Cendent/HFS mofia types like Salerno and Servididio before I will ever use them again. These two thugs have more heads on their belts than Sadam Hussain.
