I have just finished reading exactly how I feel about Avis. I rented a car in Kansas City, Mo, drove to Eldorado Ks and Winfield, Ks. One time my niece was in the car with me for a trip to the Post Office in Eldorado and that was the only time that there was another person in the car. I have not smoked since 1974 and my niece who is 57 has never smoked. I was never in the same room or building with anyone who smoked. Yet two weeks after I returned home I received a letter saying that I owed $250 to clean out the smoke smell from the car I rented. Are you at Avis completely corrupt? Is this just a scam to pry more money out unsuspecting patrons? I have rented from Hertz and other companies and have never experienced such complete dishonesty. I have learned my lesson you can be sure and I am sure you know what I mean and will pass it on to my friends if I have the opportunity.
Beware of renting a car with Avis in Europe. We declined insurance and first we were charged an extra 100 euros for cleaning. When we successfully challenged the charge with the help of our credit card company (Amex), the next week we were charged over $200 euros for a scratch on the bumper. We left the car clean and we did not scratch the bumper. Spend the extra money and take the insurance because as soon as they see it declined they find something and directly charge your credit card.
my trip started at teds moving in davie florida went to my storage packed the truck. left for north port 200 miles away . thats when the problems started the front end started shaking. not a litte shake than 75 miles into my trip the ac went and its 90 plus outside so i sweated and shook 125 miles to my destination a horrible experience.i feel compensation is due in this matter my phone is 9545156843
VICTIMIZED FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S DAMAGE! We had a terrible experience which we consider unethical for a world-renowned rental company as the Avis Budget Group. We rented a car for three days in Munich Airport, Renault Laguna GT 2 ODCI, Registration DE WIAJ7262, to be returned in Frankfurt Airport. We were given a key and a name card, with the instructions, "Go to P6, take the East lift to the 4th floor, and your car is in __. This piece of paper will enable you to exit the parking lot." I nervously asked, "Is there anybody there to inspect and familiarize us with the car?" "Sorry, no." We did not take full insurance as my husband is a careful driver, so we did as instructed and drove off. We did not even inspect the car and again, there was NOBODY at the Munich Airport Parking lot to inspect the car with us. We selected hotels in Stuttgart and in Heidelberg with parking lots and took the tram to see the town. When we returned the car in Frankfurt, as soon as the inspector saw that we did not take full insurance, she inspected every square inch of the car and found a tiny dent by the right side back door. She then blamed us for the dent and for not taking full insurance. When we explained that there was nobody in Munich Avis Parking lot to inspect the car with us, she told us to explain our case at the pay counter. When we got to the pay counter, the lady again blamed us for not taking full insurance and charged us Euro 692.68 for an almost invisible dent, which we did not make. We told her that there was nobody to inspect the car and see us off at the Munich AVIS parking lot, and SHE WOULD NOT BELIEVE US BECAUSE AVIS ALWAYS, ALWAYS has people in their car parking lots. I wished she would go to the Munich Airport or at least call her colleagues, but she did not care. Then she gave us a telephone number to air our grievance within 24 hours when we got to Bangkok so that the insurance would consider our case: Telephone Number 0045/6171/650. As soon as I got to Bangkok I called and called the number, and the operator said the number is not complete. IMAGINE, SHE GAVE US AN INCOMPLETE NUMBER! Please, please, please, AVIS Budget, assign staff at the Munich Airport P6 East Elevator Fourth Floor Parking Lot to inspect the car with the customer and make the lady's assertion in the Frankfurt Airport that AVIS ALWAYS has staff come true. And please tell the Munich Airport staff to INSPECT returned cars very well before renting them again to trustful renters. And if possible, please investigate our case Rental Agreement 652454950 because the phone number given to us is incomplete, and not charge us almost $1000 for a tiny dent we did not even make!
My wife and I rented a car on August 26th 2012 at the Avis location 6291 N Blackstone Ave FRESNO, CA 93710. Upon renting the car we asked the customer service rep how much would be pulled out of our account. The rep gave us a print out that should $158.77. On the following buisness day an amount of $358.38 was withdrawen from the account. We called into the location to find out why we were charged that amount. When I explained what happened with the over double charge to my card, the manager offered no apologies that I wasn't explained by the employee, Erica, about the 200$ deposit plus being charged for the whole weeks rental in full. He said it was a hold and I talked to my bank and confirmed that the amount of 358.38 is coming out of my account on wednesday (the whole cost of the rental is 158.38), even though we aren't returning the car until sunday. I told him to credit my card back the 200 and he said, 'no, I'm not doing that'.... he was laughing and very defensive and I kept asking him if he was really the manager because he was acting really unprofessional and rude. I told him I'd return the car and rent from someone else and he asked when I'd be coming in. He kept trying to hang up on me as I was talking to him and asking if there was anything else that I needed and goodbye... I told him that he was not behaving like a manager and should take it seriously that his staff isn't informing customers of all the charges... He said, "would you like to leave a credit card instead for payment NOW?" I said, "no, I don't have it one me, thats not the point" he was huffy and ended up hanging up on me. At the time of rental we were never given an option to pay by credit card or debit card and we were not informed there was a deposit if a debit card was used. I called into the 800# and recived the exact same responce.. Im sorry they didnt inform you but that is the policy. She gave me the option of paying by credit card but we would have to into the lacation and we would have to wait for the other amount to be returned to the other card; it could not be done over the phone. My wife and I live 40 minutes out of town, both work full time and then have to pick up our daughter after work. We do not have time to make a special trip to work this out plus. I felt there was a complete lack of customer service from every end in dealing with Avis. the extra $200 debited from our account really put us in a bind and was something that could have been avoided in the beginning if we were properly explained the policy and given an option to pay by credit
I have worked for this company for over 4 years and i am surprised i haven't killed myself inside the store thought about it plenty of times! This company is awful they don't care about there customer reps or even there customers they just care about lying to the customers my regional manger told me to lie!!!! and of course i didn't b/c i care more for the customers then i do the corp. guys Thank god i just got a new job and leaving this awful company!! PLEASE DON"T USE BUDGET!!!! THEY DON"T CARE!
Very poor experience with Budget.. Will never rent from them again. I called and needed a vehicle for the weekend. I rented from the office in Rehoboth Beach Delaware from the Super Kmart. One thing I wanted was a connection for my mp3 player in which the gentleman stated the fleet comes with both an mp3 adapter and XM radio. Awesome! The gentleman I talked to seemed pretty knowledgeable about vehicles he had in stock. I had my vehicle picked out and they said they had it at that location. After getting there, the gentleman behind the counter said "I'm sorry, we do not have that vehicle here." Even after they told me they did. Strike one. The man told us that we can "upgrade" at no charge, fair enough. I asked if they had the same options as the other vehicle, xm radio and mp3 player adapter. The man told me they did. I rented the vehicle and finally got it home as I was told that they don't rent on Sunday, I had to wait till Monday to return it. So I was told I had to rent it for two days. I had to be up at 3am to get to the Baltimore airport by 6am, this gave us enough time to get ready and load up the vehicle. Once everything was loaded and the family was secure.. We started on our way. Just as we were driving out of our development, the "low tire pressure" light came on. I am disabled, so this was a bad sign, I drove up the road to a local WAWA that was around the corner of our house. I pulled under the roofed gas pump areas as we were in a thunderstorm that morning, TERRIBLE, HEAVY rain. I noticed the rear passenger tire was a little low, so I pulled the car to the air machine on the side. Getting out (mind you I am disabled and did not want my wife or young children out in this storm), to add air to the tire, checked the pressure and everything was perfect. So I checked the 3 other tires, all within the correct pressure. After getting back in the vehicle, soaked from head to toe, the light still did not go off. That told me something else was wrong. I told the wife that we would have to take our smaller sedan and park the rental at our house. We get home, load everything in to our car. Now we are all soaked. (sorry family).... we made it on time, everything was good from our part. After getting home, we call the customer service #... That was a mistake. Couldn't understand the agent on the phone so I asked to be transferred to an American office. He sent me to customer service out of Tulsa Oklahoma and I got a lady by the name of Jane that greeted me and wanted my rental agreement #. I gave her the # and tried to explain everything to her and that I didn't need the vehicle now because it was inoperable. She said, "Sir, you signed a contract and the tire is your responsibility." in a snide voice. I told her I wanted to just return it than, she said all I can do is send you road side assistance and that will cost you. Excuse me? I was never told about ANY roadside assistance and looking at the contract, there is nothing on it that waived it. The man never went over any of that with me, never even gave me that option when I rented. I asked if I could be transferred to a corporate complaint department and she got rude and said she will open a ticket for it, put me on hold for 13 minutes. Case # 5135344 For anyone that wants to rent from them, THINK TWICE! I should have spent the little extra money and went with Enterprise. Lesson learned!
We had reserved a Budget truck a month in advance for a move from New Hampshire to North Carolina at the beginning of Aug. Two days prior to the trip we contacted our local agent to make sure the truck would be available. We anticipated no problems since we had used Budget once before for a short move and had been completely satisfied. You can imagine our shock when, upon arriving to pick up the truck, we were informed that there were none available in our area. No one seemed to care much that we were on a tight schedule, due to multiple stops and the accompanying hotel reservations. No truck. No service. No apologies. Thank goodness for UHaul. They are more expensive, but at least they deliver. I will not use Budget again and will advise others to do the same.
Please DO NOT rent from budget!!!! No budgets in Texas. I had a reservation for a pickup truck in Southwest Houston for 8am (which is when the store opens) I get there @ 8:05 and was told the truck will be here in 20 minutes, 2 hours pass and they are on the phone calling other locations looking for a pickup truck. I was renting the truck to take my daughter to school and she had a designated time to move-in. Needless 2 say she missed her time and they act like they really don't give a damn. I asked them what was the use in reserving a vehicle for a specific time if it won't be here, they said it was a specialty vehicle and that it doesn't have a specific time for it.....WTH?! I'm pissed and will not ever deal with this company EVER again. I wanted to cuss throughout this but I didn't feel a need to sound like their employees.
I am so pissed off because i have yet to recieve my refund off my rental it has been since June 14, 2012 i am tired of talking to customer service they keep giving me the run around. I called Corporate office I cannot gfet an answer there either this may be my last time dealing with this Car Rental it should'nt be this hard to get back my money the customers are nice but not helpful. Sad Face!
I feel badly that so many have had negative experiences faith Budget, but our family has rented from the Budget store in North Denton numerous times, and they are so accommodating and personable to work with.
Good luck with this Company. They have little regard for employees or customers...It's all about the almighty dollar. I heard one of the managers at the Pensacola Airport talk terrible to their Rental Agents and brush off complaints by customers. So much for "We try Harder"
We recently flew to Edmonton Alberta, july 11th, we had made the reservation thru AAA for a mini van at your Edmonton Airport office (for 9 days). After landing we went to pick up the van,I gave my paper work to the young lady behind the counter, by her expression I kind of knew something was wrong, she told me Mr Michaud we are locating the van right now, we don't exactly know where it is but we will get it for you. I sat down with my wife her two sisters and husbands, went back to see her after about 15 minutes, she said I am sorry but it is on the way. She told me if you want to go for lunch when you come back it will be ready. My wife was getting bad, so we went for lunch, after about an hour later , back to see her. By the way her name was "Teresa" (nice lady ). She said right now they are changing the oil and cleaning the van. Another 25-30 mins. went back to see her. My Michaud they just told me there is to much mileage on the van, we are getting another one from the main office in Edmonton which is about half hour away. Went back later, her partner name Wilfrid also a (nice young man) told me it will be here shortly. I knew everything was a lie, I do not blame them. At lease their manager a woman that stayed in the back room , should have come and talk to me. Her employees had to do her dirty work. Finally we got the van after a wait of about 3 hours. I drop the van 9 days later in Calgary. We were on vacation from Waterbury Connecticut. I drop the van 9 days later in Calgary. This was the 1st and last time doing business with Avis. Paul C Michaud
I had reserved the truck 3 weeks in advance. Upon arrival to Budget truck rental The agreed price was not correct after 30 minutes with customer service i got that fixed. I then found out that there was not a truck available after 2 hours they came with a smaller truck then what was agreed on after I paid the bill. They left me with no choice as I had to move. When calling customer service I was told that I could take truck back to where I rented and maybe get a refund. I was not offered a bigger truck. I will never use Budget again.
Recently I rented a economy car from Budget and prepaid ahead of time. Weeks later, I decided we did not need the car for as long as I had rented it for and I wanted to drop a day. Thought it would be a no-hassle deal to call and have them delete a day, but no, Budget said they would have to charge me more if I changed my reservation. I was in disbelief. I was not adding days but taking away one day. I even asked to speak to a manager but she held firm and said it was their policy that I would be charged at current rates if I changed. But I was not changing my dates at all, just wanted to drop one day of my reservation. Thought it was a simple request. After everything was said and done, on my old reservation which had not been changed, there was an extra 55.00 dollar charge. Guess they charged me just for asking. Ha. Well, I cancelled my prepaid reservation after I called Alamo Rental and they gave me a much better deal and I didn't even have to prepay. Lost ten dollars in the process since that is their policy if you cancel. I will not be doing business with Budget Rental Car in the future. They are not customer friendly.
What ever you do.....DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM BUDGET IN AMARILLO TEXAS AIRPORT...... I just found out from the corporate office that this particular Budget is indiviually owned, no wonder they can do what ever the hell the wanna do. If you rent from them you best read your contract word for word. This woman offered me to pay their price for gas which was 2.99/gal, she said at the time the Amarillo gas was 3.49 (this amt not exact); so I specifically said...Well I would be stupid to pay that price if you are going to offer me 2.99/gal so I will accept your offer. I purposely bring the rental back empty to get the 2.99 price. I get get a letter from them a month later that they forget to charge me for gas so these ASS-HOLES charge me 7.99/gallon for 11 gas almost $90.00. Their manger, Ken High, will not listen to anything you have to say. If it ain't in the contract, you are screwed. Their employees do not make mistakes...AT ALL. He says maybe there was a misunderstanding...if I said I would be stupid to pay the higher price and will go with your price...what is there to misunderstand? I'm just saying, there are other car rental places right there inside the airport. You BEST bet is to use one of those place because the individual owned BUDGET RENT A CAR AT THE AMARILLO AIRPORT IS OUT TO GET YOU AND YOUR POCKETBOOK..and there is nothing you can do about it.
Claim #10850566 First of all, I rented a economy car, the lever to adjust the seat was metal, I nearly cut my fingers off trying to adjust seat, whic didnt adjust. The car would turn off at a stop signal. I had to return the car in the middle of Central Oregon. I was then given the same car in a different color, smelled and looked terrible. The car grinded all the way back to Portland, I called again and returned it to Avis, when I told the customer service how frusterated I was, I was told that they are just cars "what do you expect?" The car I was traded was a larger Dodge Charger, gas usage much higher. I called customer service and spoke with employee #31055, Tony. I was assurred that I would NOT be charged for fuel. and that I would recieve a 25% discount on my total bill! I called everyday from the day I returned car and I was GUARENTEED I would not be charged for the mileage. I was charged 225.00 of which I did not have in my acct and was charged 35.00 of NSF Fees! My rent is absolutely due today and I have 225.00 out to AVIS for no reason, I was in very close communications with AVIS!!! Teresa Robles 503.858.7662
Budget was all about taking my daughters info over the phone and reserving her a car at the Pennsacola Airport for July 4, 2012. Once we arrived at the Budget counter to pick up the car, she was advised of additional charges because she was under 25. (22 years old) My wife informed them that she would pay and be the driver, but was belittled by the staff at the counter for trying to use our debit card and the fact that she had no credit. (she is a housewife) Her credit is none of their damn business any way. The "to good to be true" slogan rides again. They were so frustrated by this that they went to Dollar Rent A Car, they did not care about her lack of credit and they even take debit cards/cash! I work for a company that employs over 80,000 people worldwide, I will do all I can to make sure that they all know not to use BUDGET for anything! I am waiting on a call today from the company for an apology, I bet it never happens... No worries, they will never get any more of our money!
I recently rented a car from Avis and a few days after turning it in was informed by mail that my credit card would be charged a $250 fee for cleaning and "detailing," since it was a non-smoking vehicle. I protested by e-mail that I did not smoke in the car, that it was unconscionable to charge someone's credit card without their express permission, and finally that a cleaning fee more than twice the stated rental charge for the car was excessive and totally unfair. After 5 or 6 e-mail exchanges that resulted in a total stalemate, especially since Avis refused to send me an exact and detailed explanation of charges, I have decided to take my complaint to various consumer protection agencies. If businesses are free to act arbitrarily with their charges and refuse to act responsibly in explaining their "added-on" expenses, then it is appropriate to inform appropriate agencies and the general public. I have been a dedicated customer of Avis for over 25 years, but now no longer.
There is nothing less than a poor rating,,, the worst..... experience; renting from Avis received my confirmation # all in writing, get to Orlando Airport go to the counter ask FOR A CAR..told me 1 HR wait.....why make a reservation??????????????? Returned the car 2 days early, had a $30.00 coupon, no one knew who was suppose to deduct the $30.00 so they charged my account....OVERALL I felt I delt with incompetent staff....NEVER WILL I RENT FROM AVIS!!!!!!
