I have a 2010 Jetta Limited, currently in the last year of a lease with around 20k miles on it. The other day, the clutch failed without warning (there were no symptoms) until it was smoking and burning). Come to find out that the clutch is not covered under my new car (worry free) warranty, because it is considered a "maintenance" item like tires or brakes. The cost for this repair is quoted to me as $2400. That's $100 for every month the clutch actually worked. Customer care told me that the clutch would be tore down and inspected. But, if the cause of failure was deemed to be "outside influences" rather than part failure, they would not cover the repair. So, on 1 hand they get $2400 from me, and on the other, they don't. I wonder how that inspection is going to turn out. I have been a loyal VW customer for over 15 years. In fact, I traded in a 1998 Jetta (160k miles) with the ORIGINAL clutch to purchase this one. Yet, VW contends that my driving caused this failure. In well over 15 years of driving manual transmissions this is the first clutch failure I've ever had at ANY mileage, let alone at 20k. Go to Google and type in "how long should a clutch last" and you'll find that AVERAGE is something like 70k, with anything under 35k considered premature, even under the most intense of driving conditions. There is simply no way that this clutch was a quality part that failed because of use. It is terribly disappointing that VW will not stand behind this car or this part. So, as you consider dealing with VW, buyer beware. Their warranties are not always what they seem. It appears that the entire brand is built on image and fluff, with no substance or integrity behind it.

I own a 2011 GTI, 3 weeks after I bought it, someone backed up into it. It was in the shop for 3.5 months because the parts were apparently so hard to come by. However, when I finally got it back it wasn't running right. A few months later, I drove it from San Antonio, TX to St. Louis, MO to see my family for Christmas and on the way there my "check engine" came on. The VW dealership in Hazelwood, MO for me in and told me that the VW folks in San Antonio that "fixed" my car had done a shit job of it. Instead of using new parts (brand new car = brand new parts) they simply glued parts back together including my INTAKE VALVE. They seriously glued my intake valve back together and took the money from my insurance company and told me the car was officially safe and ready to drive. THEN something in my rear-passenger window broke and they glued that back together instead of getting a new part, as well. Not sure this is how supposed "certified VW mechanics" are supposed to handle things but hey, who am I, right? Just some girl who has tons of friends looking to by new cars and won't be going to VW anytime soon.

Truly, I am absolutely DISGUSTED with VW. I did a lot of research on the 2012 VA Tiguan that I bought BRAND NEW in January 2012. I paid roughly $40,000.00 for this car from the dealership in Winchester, VA. The pulled my leg continuously telling me "We will have it in by this date"...the date came and went. I finally got the car and after I gave them a poor rating on the survey, the general manager contacted me and I was going to set up with FREE mudflaps/installation. I drive 2 hours to get there (I live in WV) they give us a loaner to kill time while they install them, only to find out when we return that they don't make mudflaps for the SEL model, only the SE. You would think they would know what fits on their cars. HERE'S THE KICKER...I have 12,000 miles on this car and have only had it shy of 4 MONTHS. It broke down yesterday (5/7/12) It started vibrating very badly to the point of going not even 10 miles an hour. Appearantly FACTORY FORGOT to install a part and the transfer bolts backed out of the case and I am looking at EXTENSIVE damage. Obviously, I didn't return it to the dealership I bought it from. I had it sent to Staunton, VA, who by the way are MUCH MORE courteous and knowledgable!! I am waiting to hear more from them regarding further damage since they had only started working on it when I called to check on my car. They told me they are taking pictures of the damage and sending it to VW. I WANT A BRAND NEW CAR....NOT A REPAIRED ONE. Unless some other sort of compensation will be awarded. I WILL be contacting my attorney regarding everything once I get an itemized list of everything that went wrong. I WILL also be writing to VW corporate once I get the list of damage. Thank the GOD above that it didn't happen to me driving my daughter to and from Kentucky the weekend just before it broke down!! UNBELIEVABLE!

Has anyone in Manufacturing and/or customer relations looked into customer complaints listed on various sites, reported through dealers about leaks on the 2003 Volkswagen passet that would cause the Stop Check Engine Light to come on,on this particular model of Volkswagen, esp if the water pump, timing belt and thermostat have been replaced per the recommendation of the dealer no more than 2 years ago? There has to be some hose or faulty clamp that is causing this to occur and costing your customers soo much money is repairs of this and other items that they arent willing to purchase another Volkswagen because this and soo many other issues..I sincerely hope I am not the only one with these concerns..Please advise because I am leaning towards the many others who will not purchase another one unfortunately..I think the parts like the hose or clamps or whatever is consistently causing this should be recalled please up us customers out

My mom went to the dealer in Fairfield Ohio for the sole purpose of getting the handle on her driver seat (that allows it to move forward) replaced. She waited two hours for her estimate or the repair only to be told that the part would have to be ordered and by the way, they did a multi point inspection (that she did not ask for) and her timing belt needed to be replaced and the water pumped leaked. It would cost around $1300.00. They charged her $95.00 for which I could never get a good answer as well as $23.00 for the part that had to be ordered. I went round and round with the service manager over the reason for the $95.00 charge. First it was because of the engine inspection (which according to the website is a free service) and when I pointed that out it was because they had to see what part she needed to be repaired. When I told them I thought she had been taken advantage of he finally agreed to give back the $95.00. I also told them to cancel the part because I would not let her go there again. As a side note, I took her car to a reputable mechanic. There is no leak in the water pump. Her car has 52000 miles on it and according to VW the timing belt does not need to be replaced until she gets closer to 100,000 miles. My mom's car is a 2004 VW Beetle. It will take her years to get that many miles on her car. What a crook! Never go to Fairfield Volkswagen for service. Too bad they get one star.

I am a longtime VW owner. I bought a New Beetle in 1998 when they first came out, I upgraded to a 2000 New beetle when I saw it on the showroom floor I just had to have it. That was my first mistake. I leased the vehicle and before it was due to be turned back in to the dealership I decided to buy it out. Not only did I put around 12,000 into the car I had to fork over around 20,000 to buy it out. The car was in & out of the shop because the check-engine light kept coming on. I brought it to the dealer in excess of 11 times before the figure out it was the oxygen sensor. Then the door panel had to be replaced, the window regulator on both sides, the interior liner fell, the arm rest broke apart, the e-brake button popped off, had to replace the plastic fan for the radiator with a metal one, replaced the motor that drives the washer fluid, also the alarm goes off randomly, the car thinks the door is open when it is closed, while I am driving all the lights come on & the door alarm goes off, I have had the doors worked on numerously with no resolution, I have had all the normal things fixed of course as well. The check engine light comes on sparactically still to this day. I had purchased an extended warranty which VW did not honor, I have had to replace the headlights 3-4 times per year, as well as switch out the interior switches, now there is an electrical problem. I had even bought a 2004 convertible beetle but someone borrowed it and totaled the car. I have had this car for twelve years now and it has been a total nightmare!! I was layed off from my full-time job in 2006, which is why I bought the car. I didn't want to get stuck with no car at all. I obviously need a new car but I will not buy a VW. I am so disappointed in Volkswagen. When I first got my cars (yes I said cars) I have owned and paid off 3 VW New Beetles. One for 33,000 another for 24,000 and another for 22,000 (not including what I paid for the lease) I even referred two people to buy beetles from a local dealer I never even got contacted. I am frankly appalled.

I own a 2005 Jetta turbo. This is by far the worst purchase i have ever made. I have 97,000 miles on the car. In 2011 alone I spent 3450.00 dollars in repairs. I had to replace the transmition and have the entire motor taken apart and cleaned. Now they are telling me I need a 1200.00 catilitic converter. I owe way more than i can get for it so now I am stuck paying into this car. The real kicker is that the dealership told me that VW admitted to having manufacturing issues with that year of Jetta. Yet they offer you nothing in compensation. He did offer to lease me a new VW all I had to do was give him the 3000.00 deposit and the 6500.00 in negative equitty. VW is a horrible product and the people who make this junk need to step up and stand behind there products. Thats what you get for moving your manufacturing to Mexico.

I bought a $35,000 2012 VW EOS recently which now has a mere 1,900 miles on it. To date, there have been FIVE steering-wheel-ignition LOCKOUT incidents each of which has been VERY frustrating. I've asked my VW Dealership if anyone else is having the same problem and always received an emphatic NO, and then with another incident ~ YESTERDAY ~ was advised by a salesman and dealership officer of two different ways to unlock the damned ignition switch (neither of which worked in the past). I wouldn't normally think too much about this problem ~ win a few ~lose a few ~ but necessarily have come to the inescapable conclusion I'm paying for an EXPENSIVE, BRAND NEW LEMON! Two weeks ago, I had a heart attack, and was UNABLE TO START the damned EOS to take myself to the Hospital Emergency Room. Fortunately, my second car ~ A 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis ~ started right up (AS USUAL). The point being, had I not had a second operable car, I might not be around to write about it today! Trust me when I say I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DAMNED VOLKSWAGEN!!!!! They're NOT RELIABLE vehicles!!!!!

From the moment I bought my beetle It has been terrible. Any interior plastic piece that could break does. None of which are easily fixed or reasonable in cost although they should never have broken in the first place.I will never purchased another volkswagen. Again the quality is the poorest I have seen in 40+ years of driving. Only volkswagen will or can work on it. Cost of repairs is truly a nightmare. When you go in the dealership service area they brag about their training and how they are made so others can not work on them. Trust me It is clear they know their product is junk. They just smile and say that just how they are. I was in the VW repair today and the tech was telling a customer that the key to the ignition are made to break off easily but not to worry for around $150-$200 dollars they can fix just one part of the Key she saved and reprogam it for her. My window on the driver door left the track but they will also be glad to fix this for $450+ The plastic latch on the pocket can be repaired for 200+ not counting labor. As you may have guessed this will never be repaired. My last repair bill was over a thousand dollars it is still not clear what they did or did not do. I will go out of my way to persuade others not to buy a volkswagen. I am think about putting magnetic lemons on mine. I certainly would not use the dealership in Augusta Georgia. They will be very polite as they bill you or quote you out of the world cost.

Terrible rating for VW Camelback Phoenix, AZ. I am sorry to have to give them one star. They deserve nothing.Hope never to do business with Dusten (Sales Manager) or Christian (awful salesman) again. Did end up with a Passat after a most frustrating week, and am now dealing with VW credit who tell me they did not receive my January payment, although it was withdrawn from my bank account via a personal check on January 10. This experience is turning into a nightmare - sorry I ever went back to VW.

I would like to say we bought my daughter a Volkswagon Beetle 2003 for her 16th birthday in oct of 2009, because that is what she always wanted, and we even found her favorite color, GREEN.. Lime, we thought this was the cuttest car, but oh my.. TOTAL CRAP!! From day one the service engine light would stay on no matter what service we would do, always something, from windows, fuses, sparks plugs a constant thing, to running like crap, to electrical issues weekly, hatch back not staying shut, to sunroof leaking, water in floor board, to we would look outside and the sunroof would be going up and down on its own, to the alarm going off at night. My best friend also bought TWO for her daughter and the same problems, ELECTRICAL, the battery would have some weird fuse ran to them so this pointed out there is SOME major electrical issues, I was so happy to see this car GONE from our lives Last week, I want to throw a party.. NEVER Again do I want to drive or see a Beetle!!!!

I don't know who to contact and am hoping someone at VW Corporate sometimes peeks their nose in here. Ordered a 2012 Passat TDI SEL Premium on 9/24/11, with deposit down, hearing would be delivered sometime mid November 2011. Delays in getting parts, assembly, etc. I found out this week that the car should arrive today, however got a call back the 1.9% financing has ended, ONLY FOR THE DIESELS, now that they are finally shipping this incentive has been taken away. I realize that VW and VW Finance are seperate, but with all the complaints about getting these vehicles and waiting this long you would think you would grandfather folks in. The Auto Show is in Detroit and thinking of taking a drive there and seeing what's up. Giving VW one more chance, after about 6, to do the right thing here. I cannot be the only one who is getting screwed on financing after waiting so long. It is not my fault you could not forecast and mfg and deliver parts, FIFO deliver, etc. Namely just get the cars to the poor dealerships that are TRYING to sell them. I use to respect the brand, love the product and thought more highly for bring assembly to the US, but now I'm just not understanding it. Who has a number for corporate and a name to go along with it, someone who can OWN THE PROBLEM!

2010 VW Touareg TDI. Stay away from this company. This car has less than 15k on it. Purchased brand new for $44k. I love the feel, the look, the performance. Hate the fact that I have zero confidence in driving the car anywhere. In the shop 1st time for 4 days. 2nd time 3 days, car had to be towed when I was 350 miles from home. I had to get a hotel for two nights. 3rd time I had to get a tow again. This time I had a total power failure, no lights, locked in park and stuck in the middle of the road at 1am in a pouring rain. Car is still in shop, 4 days now. The dealers mechanics haven't a clue how to fix it. I'm over 50yo and I have owned at least 15 cars. I can honestly say that I never had trouble anything close to this. Each time I was stranded I was just lucky that I had friends nearby to get to a safe location. I'm filing a lemon law claim. Going to get a Honda or a Toyota ASAP

Volkswagen is running an ad in Europe that shows a terrorist, getting into a Volkswagen, driving to an address & then setting off a remote controlled bomb. Does VW still have that Nazi, Hitler mindset. In this day & age of terrorizm!! How dare they make a commercial like that!!

My wife and I are hard working, and don't try to live to much above our means. We purchased a VW CC, which was for my wife, and we have had a nightmare with this car. First, we were told that we would have unlimited oil changes, only to fine that we were told that we should have gotten it in writing. Now the CC, which is still not two (2) years old, need a new transmission. Of course the five (5) year sixty thousand mile warranty is passed, and we have to replace it with a new $4,200 one. Corporate will pay fifty (50) percent, but I have a problem paying 50 cent for a new transmission in a car that is not two (2) old. we bought the car new, with only 8,000 miles. We also own a VW Pasat, and I was thinking of buying a VW for myself, but now I might as well purchase a FORD...FIX...OR..REPAIR...DAILY. Shame on you Volkswagen. I will be contacting all of my friends and associates though the social network.

Bought a 2011 Jetta over the summer at Prestige of Turnersville, NJ for my daughter and the car started having problems shifting into 2nd. It would rev up then buck the car into second when it stopped racing. I took it back to the dealer since it is under warranty and told them something was wrong with the transmission. They said they couldn’t fix it because when they test drove it, it didn’t do it and they needed to see the problem before they could fix it. Eventually the car broke down on the road in the 5th month after constantly having the same problem. It was towed to the dealer and then I called the VW customer care center right away because I knew I was going to have problems with the dealer. Customer care did work with the dealer to find the problem and the transmission was replaced after they had the car for a week and a half. When I picked the car up after the new transmission was put in it sounded nothing like it did when I first bought it. It actually sounded like I was driving a truck. Also when I drove over 40 miles per hour it made a high pitched whistling sound. After 2 days of driving with these annoying sounds I took it back to the dealer again. The customer service person was very rude to me when I asked them to ride with me 2 times to hear the noise I was talking about. After 2 days they called and said the car sounded normal to them and the high pitched whistling sound after 40 miles per hour was happening in a lot of the Jetta’s but they couldn’t do anything unless it was recalled by the manufacturer. What happened to the car being under warranty???? So now I am stuck with a Jetta that sounds like a truck and has a high pitched whistling sound. I would never buy VW again nor would I buy any car from Prestige. They are not very customer service oriented. Guess I’ll be sending a lot of letters out and posting on a lot of forums.

Picked up a 2012 Jetta on November 19, 2011. It went back to the dealer on November 21st because the vehicle wouldn't recognize the key. FOUR times the dopes at Lash Volkswagon of White Plains New York told me the car was fixed and each time I went to pick it up the problem reappeared before I even started the car. On the fourth try not only did the car not work there was a dent in the door. Should have stuck with Nissan, 27 years of ownership and NO problems!!

I bought a BRAND new 2011 Jetta in December of last year from Boardwalk Volkswagen of Richardson and I can honestly say I will never buy another volkswagon as long as I live! I loved my car when I first got but since June my car has been in the shop almost every month since replacing the headliner, recall, , hub cap, vibrations in dash and door, ac cutting off and Break light coming on while i am driving ....I'm sick of it! I'm paying for a new car and I can't even drive it half the time. i am about to trade my Jetta and because of all those issue i had showing in carfax i have to give it for 6,000 less that what i bought the car for in the first place and it is not been one year i am about to lose all that money please dont you ever think about buy VW .

It seems Volkswagen is unable to get parts they need to repair their vehicles. I know this happened back in Jan'11 and it is still a major issue today. My daughter was in a fender bender and her car is at the body shop (3 weeks now), I inquired about the delays and was told there was a national shortage on parts from VW. Simple things...front impact absorber, hood, a/c condenser, front body radiation side panel. They are looking at an additional 3 - 4 week before parts are avaliable. This is just unacceptable, and frustrating. She needs her car for work and school yet she receives no help to resolve the issue. VW still ontinues to SELL, SELL, SELL. To bad thay can't FIX. This experance has put her on the down side and she vowes to NEVER purchase or recomend to anyone a VW.

Buying a car at Bergden VW in Gilbert AZ? Don't do it. First call to the dealership they told us, yes they still have the new Jetta @ 1.9 %. Picked out the car. They gave the price and monthly payments and months of loan. I bought the car from MI. I asked them to fax me the sales contract. 1.) there's nothing to fax 2.) they faxed me a advertisement printed right off their website 3.) next fax was an application for gap insurance 4.) they faxed me a sales contract @ 2.9 % This went on for a good week and a half. The sales personnel are arrogant. They lie. Right out front, in your face lie. Barked at me," first I want to know if we have a deal?!" I said until you fax me the sales contract so I can go over the figures, we don't. I need to have the paper in front of me while you go over the figures. Finally faxed the sales contract. I asked then for him to fax me a copy of the warranty. "print it up from the website." This was a horrible experience. Patronizing and condescending treatment. So, if you are in the market for a hard time, frustration and plain old rudeness....go to a vw dealership. Keep in mind, we called from an Audi dealership asking them of the APR was still 1.9 and the answer was yes. I think these guys are the guys fired from wall street, the banks or the insurance companies. It's a wonder they can sell a car with this reputation. Unbelievable. LIE. Just trying to help anyone who is thinking of going there. Do not believe them. Ask to see it in writing immediately. Vickie Kasper Monczka
