la fitness is indeed a scam farm. the one in dunwoody,ga at mt vernon and ashford center parkway has had a broken water thermostat for a month resulting in cold showers...contrary to the asswipe who thinks that at bargain prices we should tolerate anything, i object to the squalid state of the gym where weights are littered everywhere, the walls in the basketball court are literally falling down, and the lockers are in general disrepair. the manager seems to spend more time running down to starbucks than he does at the gym...he gets more excited about an open locker door than a broken showering system. the receptionists kept claiming that the showers would be repaired. at last report, they stopped making that claim. la fitness is the new ballys.

I was visting Boca Raton in late October [2011] and decide to use your facilities. An attendant told me I had to sign up for a yearly cotract, but if I left in one week he would cancell the contract. So I filled out a contract but was diligent to write all over it that I was only there for one week. The attendant gave me back my signed coppy and made a new one which I did not sign or read. Since I left Florida LA Fitness has been charging me every week. I called the original center and found out that my name was mispelled, my access card number didn't come up on the screen, and my email was simply made up - but I am being charged for service I do not use. I've talked to the manager in Boca Raton, who said she would fix the problem. If It is not fixed I will go the bank route and if I need to the Federal Court route.

I have been a member since the day the Woodstock LA on Towne Lake Pkwy opened up. The management has changed often and never for the better. Donna, one of the better managers has been moved and since then things have taken a nose dive. My biggest complaint is the condition of the pool. As a senior who takes the water aerobic class with Ann M., it is always a guess as to the water temperature. It is usually too cool but lately it has been below 70 degrees. The management was aware of this but chose to wait over a week to "discover" the heater was broken. The pool area windows are peeling plaster and the tiles on the sides need a good scrubbing. Several weeks ago on a Friday night 2 very small children were allowed up in the exercise area upstairs because the Kids Club employees wanted to leave early. The children yelled and ran around the equipment. It was a miracle they were not hurt as the parents were not attentive. And speaking of the Kids Club.. just what activities are they supposed to do? I have never seen the women do anything except sit and occasionally hold an infant. Older children are pretty much on there own for entertainment, except for a television showing kid programs. What is the minimum age requirement? When I joined, I was told it was over 14. There are children "exercising" in the club that could not possibly be over 10 years old. Do they require birth certificates or just take the parents word for it? This club has great possibilities but the management needs a wake-up call.

YOU MAY BE REALIZING THAT LA FITNESS IS A FRAUD SCAM GOING BAD. THE COMPANY IS NOW UNABLE TO COVER THE COSTS OF ITS RAPID EXPANSION, AND SWINDLING OF MEMBERS. SO, IT BUILDS OR BUYS CLUBS TO COMPENSATE. THESE CLUBS ARE THEN ALLOWED TO BECOME RUN DOWN, AND NOT OFFER THE AMENITIES AND SERVICES PROMISED. OTHERWISE, THEY JUST SIMPLY BUY AND SELL THEIR ASSETS. THIS IS SIMILAR IN NATURE TO A PONZI SCHEME, GET MORE MEMBERS, (INVESTORS) DON'T ALLOW THEM TO CANCEL, OVERCHARGE THEIR ACCOUNTS, FORGE SIGNATURES ON KEY PADS, SWINDLE THEM ON TRAINING SESSIONS, STEAL COMMISSIONS, STEAL MEMBER'S BELONGINGS, BLATANTLY LIE TO MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE CONSUMERS, MAKE FALSE PROMISES, SELL STEROIDS, BUY STEROIDS, BAIT AND SWITCH CONSUMERS, VIOLATE CONSUMER LAW, VIOLATE LABOR LAWS, VIOLATE THE HEALTH CLUB ACT, UNJUSTLY ENRICH ITSELF, FALSIFY CONTRACTS, DOUBLE OR TRIPLE BILL MEMBERS...THE LIST GOES ON AND ON... IF YOU FAIL TO SEE THAT THIS COMPANY IS ONE BIG FRAUD SCAM GOING BAD, THEN YOU NEED HELP. CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, AND GO TO ANOTHER CLUB. SEND A COMPLAINT TO YOUR STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE NOW. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT, A KEY PAD, NOTHING, INSIST THAT THEY WAIT AND ALLOW YOU TO USE THE FACILITIES.

my wife an i have been members of Ballys for a number of years.I decided to go over to la fitness an asked them what would it cost to continue at Ballys an also go to La Fitness. I received 2 different quotes from 2 different employees. My wife an i are retired just want to be taken care of properly.I was just told that today is the last day for this promotion they had another promotion which was better last week that lasted only 3 days. I think La Fitness would all be on the same page because everybody talks to each other this. I hope you will give me an answer so i can join . ron mckelvey

After having some surgery and my doctor gave me the ok to work out. I was thrilled to join the LA fitness center in Spring Texas. UNTIL.... I met a trainer who was so rude, degrading. I cancelled my membership after 12 hours. He was angry with me because I didn't want a personal trainer. This Adam guy needs to learn how to respect all types of people, race and overweight people. So I would and did tell all my friends to not to join the LA fitness center in spring Texas. Mean Person working there.

The entire North Brunswick Club in New Jersey needs a complete renovation. Everything is dirty, especially the bathrooms and locker rooms. The glass wall betweeen the pool and main club is full of handprints, dribbles, and god knows what else. A health club! You've got to be kidding. My main complaint is the pool. I am a senior citizen and their aqua aerobics program leaves a lot to be desired except for Jill who gives a good class. The other problem is the water temperature. It is not monitered correctly. Some days the water is so cold you can't stay in it for an entire class. Most of the people taking those classes are over 60 and have health issues, the last thing we need is cold water.

i was duped inot signing a one year training contract for over $3000. when i got home and read it i tried to cancell, but was givne the number for a juice bar. WTF????. by the time I got the sales man on the phone he assured me everything was as he said, but guess wht, same as a used car saleman, he lied. and now I'm past the 3 days and can't cancel and guess what can't get anyone to train me either. so some o how i accidently find out I can down grade if i do it in 30 days. wait... it gets better, no one will talk to me and tell me how to do it, one guy on the phone at corporate says he can't do it cause I'm not in texas to sign it. again WTF. so now what? BBB and protest the intial charge and change the charge to a bogus number so they can't charge me again is all I can think of for now. this is beyond messed up.

Bolingbrook Il. club has turned to shit takes way too long to fix anything in this place, every worker in this joint is a smart ass.I finally figured out why the staff cannot deal with a problem, they are all under 35,there is no one in the place 40 or over,35 is the new 21.Maybe its time to pay more at life time

People crying about a cheapo, national chain gym are funny...like clowns. I've been a Bally Premier Plus member for 12 years. I'm used to crappy, rundown, gyms. Some of their newer ones aren't bad. But where else can you go to that's $9.99/month, nationwide and many having swimming pools, saunas, whirlpool, etc. Sure it's dirty, but hey, that's what the extra shot of chlorine in the water is for right? I'm used to rolling around in pools of other dudes sweat and sometimes blood when I train at my fighting gym. Dirt won't be what's on your mind when someone's trying to knock you out. And I'm paying $150/month there with a mandatory contract. Someone didn't put away a dumbell or yoga mat? Boohoo. Call the Waaaambulance. LA Fitness is just another Bally, except not in financial troubles....yet. Again, it's CHEAP with a pool and tons of amenities. Want people to hold your hand while you take a dump? Then join somewhere for $100-$250/month or something. You're asking way too much from a junky place like Bally and/or LA Fitness when you're only paying $10-50/month. It's only like $19/month to join Bally right now w/o any contract. I'm trying out a brand new LA Fitness Signature Club right now. It's so clean. Free towels, pool, sauna, whirlpool FULL size basketball court for $50/month. Biggest complaint is that there are too many dudes and not enough people, making it a boring atmosphere. C'mon, stop crying already, waaaaaaah.

Hello My Wife and I also have life time memberships from Holiday spa and were transfered to Jack LaLane now to Bally's. We are also having problems here in New Jersey. I have been in contact with Bally's Corperate Offices and were informed that My home base Gym was Sold to LA Fitness and they purchased our memberships. I do have an unsigned letter from Bally's that I received in the mail stating this. I also have several emails saying the same. I contacted the main Corporate Office of LA Fitness. I was told that they have all the members information that were members at all the Bally's Gyms that they purchased. They said the Bally's is not being truthful with us about LA Fitness purchasing our memberships. They said they did purchase some members contracts, but did not and would not purchase any lifetime memberships. I then questioned why do they have my personal information without my knowledge or permission which seems to be violating our privacy. Their smart answer was they purchased the gyms, so they have a right to our information, but they did not purchase all contracts especially lifetime membership. They continued to say that we will pay them our membership dues from this point on, but will not honor our contracts as they did not purchase them. Really stupid answers. They then said that we can up grade our membership for more money and drop the lifetime membership. if we did not do this, they would not allow us in their Gyms. If anyone wants to pursue a class action suit, include us. We should also contact each other to speak. Also Should contact the State Attorney Generals Office as there are laws governing Spas. I have to say Fair and I am very sad to share this rating but I am just a new member on LA Fitness located at Hialeah, just they did The Open House last Saturday. We enjoyed the Club from November 12. Everything was good, some issues happened but resolved. But the biggest issue was last week I received an email that they are gonna charged me 20.00 more because I selected a Guest Privilege service, something I never did. Since that day I am trying that somebody resolved my problem and any answer from them. My husband had to visit more than three times the Club to resolve the problem. As result, today my account was charged this amount that never was in my Agreement to be charged, but the saddest part is that the employes, nobody can't , or won't help you. I hope this week could resolve this. But is a sad beggining with LA Fitness, sad, sad experience.

I have been a Bally member since 2004 and did not receive any information about LA Fitness buying the gyms in No VA. Only when I went in the gym, did I find out. The employees seem to not know what to do and are taking the brunt of the customer's anger. I have not had any issues with employees under Bally management. They have always greeted me with a smile. Now, I am greeted with not so happy employees. LA Fitness needs to better train their employees to help with the transition. They represent the company's image. There are many other gyms in the area to go to, so LA Fitness, do the right thing. Where is your public relations?

LA Fitness in Torrance made an oral contract with Silver Sneakers members that they would honor the Silver Sneaker classes through December31, 2011. However, today, December 9, 2011 the Manager Todd (310-542-3511)turned the instructor and the class members out of the premises, saying no classes would be honored. Since this is a contract violation, I am reporting LA Fitness to the Better Business Bureau, and suggest others do the same. Of course, the corporate offices are emitting busy signals and obviously will not avail themselves by telephone.

LA Fitness recently purchased Ballys Total Fitness. As a member of Bally I was informed in writing via email that I can go to any LA Fitness location for the month of December. My particular membership was transferred to the Somerdale location in South Jersey where Naija is the manager. On Wednesday December 7th, I went to the location to take a 5:45 am spin class. The girl at the front desk scanned my ballys card and asked for my name and phone number to identify me. She then wanted me to sign a key pad. I asked her what was I signing. She then told me I could not read it until after it is signed. After I told her that I was not signing she denied my access to the gym. She began to create a scene and other Bally members approached the desk to help me, which many of them were working out and didntt sign anything yet. I went to head to the spin class and three cops entered the gym. She had me thrown out the gym. I was extremely embarrassed by this incident and felt threatened and harrassesd to work out at a gym that my membership was transferred to. I dont know if she was having a bad day but I definitelty did not deserve this type of treatment. I would like this girl fired immediately. She is not a good representative for LA Fitness at ALL. I normally dont go out my way to do things like this but this was needed. Please email me

LA FITNESS..huge scam....Signature Club in Seattle, Ballard neighborhood is a pit. The lockers do not work-this has been an ongoing situation for over five months, members have kicked them in, pulled them off the hinges. Towel service sucks, exercise dude staff walks around tweeting some chick but would not bend over to pick a towel. Showers are dirty, towel hooks are falling off of the wall hae been for months. If there was a minus number I would give it.

I had the exact situation as a couple others above. It happened today. Neither LA Fitness nor Bally's corporate office will take responsibility for my memebership. I paid my dues for the year in Sept 2011 and they were not even due until Nov. 2011. LA Fitness informed me that I did not pay my dues and therefore my memembership expired and there is nothing they can do about it. When I called Ballys corporate they said they no longer have any record of my membership and that it was sold to LA Fitness. I pulled my check records and found the check that I wrote and the Bally invoice that I had paid. I am going to take it over to an LA Fitness and let them tell me again that I have not paid for my renewal and then hand over my paperwork. I was also told by a bally staff member that answered the phone at a michigan location , many people are getting the exact same story. He also said LA Fitness system is not totally updated with client information from the Bally change over yet and that is why they don't see the renewals. I don't buy it. I think they are just pulling this crap to sell their own memberships and using it as an excuse. I will get an attorney and I think we need to somehow build a group and case againse both entitites. Any advice is appreciated. I think the issue also is that many of us have a gold membership and pay minimal fees per year after paying a large sum in the first year. They want to make money at LA Fitness and they can't do it with our memberships.

Funny thing, well not really but, you join LA fitness to work out, get in shape , and be healthy right! Well since the LA Fittness I have been in is so dirty and basicaly extremely unsanity how is that healthy? It's not! And It's unbelievable that a health club chain that big does nothing to fix this HUGE problem. To them it's all about singing new members up. Nothing else. Well here's a small hint if anyone in the company is reading this. Better maintained clubs means more customers. There are no short cuts. It's basic good business sense. But hey what do I know, lol, I don't have business degree. But I bet the people in charge of this at LA Fittness do. LOL, well maybe they don't. It's a shame. But it is what it is! A big dirty mess!

I live in the Atlanta area. LA Fitness acquired all of the Bally's fitness center. I have been a fitness center member since 1981. I joined American Fitness. I have a life long membership with Bally's. I could use any fitness center that was owned by Bally's in the U.S. Guess what, not honored by LA fitness. Single gym membership is what I have with LA fitness. I questioned the manager and he said that what I am paying I have to take that and be grateful my membership was not cancelled. Also my membership fee is due in Jan. 2012 with LA fitness. I paid Bally's in May 2011 for a year. It seems like we have been royally screwed. We need a class action suit. This should not be allowed. We should protest big time.
