My husband and I have been members for close to 19 years now and you can imagine we have very low dues since we started with them from almost the beginning. The problems is that all over yelp and other websites we are seeing the same very low reviews and although are personal experiences have varied over the years you can not ignore the high degree of complaints all over the place. We just read that LA FITNESS has now added 171 BALLY Fitness centers as of NOV 2011 which will not help some of the existing LA Fitness facilites from being updated. We have two LA Fitness centers that are in prime high end area locations where we live, yet they need updating badly, and you can not help but see the high staff turnover and attitudes are negatively effected by the lack of maintenace since they get complaints constantly and LA Fitness Corporate level must not be listening (while recently acquiring 171 Bally Fitness centers as mentioned above). What are they going to do with 171 more locations and do NOTHING to correct the problems and complaints of members, staff (as noted by attitude, and old equipment). This speaks volumes. We hope that LA Fitness will wake up and start reading the information online before it has to file for bankruptcy. Locations in Southern California
I have been going to LA fitness in Mantua, New Jersey for about 4 months and Sunday 11/20 one of the people that work there came up to me and told me i was high (which i wasnt i DO NOT do any drugs) and the only evidence that he had was that my eyes were red and i was eating a doughnut And he told me to go get a blood test.... i am extremely offended that someone said that to me where i pay to go and relax... i had a very bad week and i was crying before i went into the gym... They had no right whatsoever to say something so rude. Who looks at someone with red eyes and the first thing they think of is that someone is high... First off he should have asked me about my week and why my eyes were red if he suspected something, now i would understand him saying that if i fell off a machine, hurt myself etc but i did nothing of that sort i was stretching and then i went on a stair stepper for 20 minutes working out perfectly. No body in their right mind would accuse someone of something so offending i feel as though there is something wrong with this. they would only give me a phone number to California with no name to contact only member services this is a complaint against him. i will not let this slide because this is not morally correct what he did and he was harassing me and deeply offending me. That's not what i need when a gym is suppose to be where i'm suppose to be able to relax and take my mind off things. Does anybody have any other suggestions on who to get into contact a little more close to where my gym is?
Fort Worth Tx. L.A. Fitness on HWY 183. I have been a member for several years now and have been pleased with most of the service at this location, however, lately the showers in the men's area are looking worst and worst. It appears they don't have a person that cleans them, or if they do, they do a pretty bad job. I talked to one of the maintenense personal about the situation and did not get an answer as to who is doing what. And lately when I have been there at the pool the cleaning person expressed to me that she was sorry about the water not running in to the drains but they have been like that for over a month. My question is this, do they have a person in charge of maintaining this areas clean or anyone that cares about the necessity of keeping this areas clean and well maintain? I would hate to pass this along to other people that I know attend this facility for they would probably leave the membership. Please contant people that will help, for I have no idea where else to go. No one there knows who the real manager is.
I am extremely disappointed in the Leesburg, VA LA fitness. They had a very rocky beginning and I tried to understand but I do not think this club is managed in a professional manner. I have to do lap swimming for races and events. I have come into this gym on many occasions only to find an unscheduled pool class taking place. I have spoke with the manager who told me that this class is unscheduled because it would fill so quickly and they would run out of water weights. Are you serious??? So why not put up a sign that indicates the limit of the class. Most gyms that I have belonged to in the past have put up limit signs and people choose to get there early to reserve their spot. But that is no reason not to put it on the schedule, at the very least block out the time so that your customers are aware that the pool is unavailable at that time. The general manage told me that I would simply have to remember that the pool was used at that time and not to make the extra journey. I have also called before coming and been told that the pool is free only to show and find the class in session. The front desk, which is directly in front of the pool was simply unaware of this class. The fitness level of the classes is also very unchallening as they cannot seem to hold onto good instructors for very long. The juice bar remains vacant after one year. Parking however is excellent. I am highly disappointed in this club and I will be pulling my membership.
Not at all impressed . . . I've been trying to get them to stop taking money automatically out of my account. The phone number on my contract is disconnected and the staff says there's no number I can call . . what's more they don't list contact info on their website or an address . . I have turned in the necessary paperwork that they require and they're still deducting money . . the people at the desk are lackies who know nothing or are trained to do nothing . . everything's out of their hands. I have been forced to go to my bank and close my checking account to stop them. Very unprofessional shady way of doing business.
I'm extremely disappointed and upset with LA Fitness. On Tuesday 11/8 at least five people in the men's locker room had their locks cut and wallets and other items stolen. This is unbelievable that it happened in the middle of peak time and no one said anything. This is the 3rd time that a robbery has happened with the MO and yet LA fitness has taken no steps to prevent any future occurrences’. The front desk staff, seem to be as un-affected and as a mosquito bite. The police appeared to be amazed that this is a regular occurrence with LA Fitness facilities through out metro Atlanta, yet no attempts to make any improvements have been implemented. The front desk staff is way to busy with their internal conversation to even notice with people walk in and out of the facility without scanning their membership fob. I'm disgusted that my lock was cut, and drivers license, credit cards and most important my military ID (with my SSN on it) was stolen and there is no recourse for the amount of time and suffering I have to experience for their lackadaisical attitude.
I am a member at LA Fitness in Sugarland Texas and I am very disappointed in this facility. The men's lockerroom is filthy and has a stench that is unbearable. There are numerous times when there is no papertowel available to dry your hands. As far as the acessibility to the company to cancel your membership, it is damn near impossible. There is no contact number to confirm if the company has received your cancellation letter nor is there any way to verify if the process has started or not. i have a novel idea, give us a contact number to track our process.
I joined LA Fitness in Mt Laurel, NJ for the express purpose of using the pool for therapeutic, low-impact exercise. The pool water, per corporate, is to be 84 degrees. No matter when you check the pool thermometer, it always reads 82. Trust me, it doesn't come close to that. The AC is always on high in the women's changing room. You enter the room wet and freeze to death. Several years of complaining, cajoling, sweet-talking, etc accomplish absolutely nothing. LA Fitness DOES NOT control the pool; it is handled by an independent facility. Thus, LA Fitness cannot do anything but will give you a line of tripe instead. Good-bye, LA Fitness.
I have to said that the manager at L.A fitness in west Pembroke Pines, don't do nothing to keep the gym in order, he is always sitting in his desk, and is amazing that all the weights are out of place, including the trainer don't put weights back when they are done with it. However I feel like cancel my contract since my wife hit and twist her ankle with a weight that was out of place.
I joined la fitness back in Jan 2010. At the time everything was fine, then I got hurt. I was out of work and my budget went down hill. since then I tried to get La Fitness to close my accout. I sent letters. sent E-mails, called but still they just wanted my money.Bills come due, just like everyone else, but I don't have the money to pay them every month. Sooner or later one wil go into default. could be the car, then there goes my job. Could be the house, living on the street may not be so bad. Lights who need lights any way. Water, bath more Musk wil help. Thank you La Fitness.
LA Fitness, Dale Mabry Highway, Lutz, F. A/C has not worked in 4 weeks. Said they are waiting for parts. Approached Manager with complaint. He told me to tell the girl at front desk. Problem continues without resolution.
Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area. Reading these stories are horrible... I was an unfortunate person who was hired at this company. Quit a management position elsewhere closer to home for one here. Wait. The day I start work I find out two of us were hired for the same position. I'm SOL because of course the other one hired was from a superior manager than the one that hired me. So they move me around and yank my chain... Yada yada... I get pushed into sales... Not like I have my great old management position I can fall back on to. It's fine to a degree.. I do find a few great people to work with. I learn to tell people EVERYTHING on the contract or at least make them read it so that way my ethical standards are being met. Well then we start having these weekly meeting by some *#@*#*@ *@#@* of a VP of the district... Our meeting area that he had it at? The cycle room of an LA Fitness. We're sitting on the damn bikes trying to take notes. What a joke. Well one of the employees at the meeting tells me to go iTube and look up a video to watch. It's a news story of my VP when he owned a used car lot. He would hold on to used cars at his business and wait until they sold to give the original owners some money for it. But he wasn't giving fair portions back or giving ANY money back to the people who gave him their cars to sell. They were ripped off blind never getting any portion back. Then the BBB told him he had to sell or face legal ramifications and they didn't want him working in this area ever again... What did he do? He had an employee's mother sign that she was buying it over from him. This lady had dementia and didn't remember giving him the almost $100,000. for the business or for even signing the papers. She lost her life savings. Plus he continued to "manage" the car business until BBB found out he was still running it and stopped the business. This was who LA had hired to be their VP. This shows their lack of ethics and morals... Needless to say I was gone in two months. I couldn't handle Mr. Vp and his ideas for selling tactics.
Arlington Virgina LA Fitness is the worst....the general manager is a complete liar and will say anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. It was unlimited free parking when I joined, then ten days later 3 hours free parking, a few days later free evenings and weekends and now five dollars an hour. Add that to the membership dues and you can join the health club at the Ritz Carlton cheaper. Run run run.
Last night when I finish swim at Arcadia LA fitness around 10:15 PM, When I walk out from the shower room; There is a men standing right front of the steam room about 3 feet a way from me, I was shocked, I'm screaming and run back to the shower room, I said:" Are you kidding, A men in the woman's locker room!!!!!!!". I was not wear any thing, I feel insulted, I'm went to report at front desk, There is only one guy there, He said he can't do any thing about..............I should call Police instead!!!!!
I signed up for LA Fitness and a training membership. The gym instructors told me that I had 19% body fat, and I am a woman. This was before working out. They told me they could get me down to 15% body fat, that I just needed to be consuming at least 120 grams of protein a day. I was only 135 pounds at that time. With the amount of protein and weights they had me doing, I actually got sick and had to go to the doctor because I stopped having my period and was feeling weird. My doctor told me that I needed to have about half that amount of protein, and that I was having kidney issues due to the amount of protein I was consuming. On top of that, I got vertigo while on vacation and tried to explain this to them- they told me I had to bring in my doctor's note to my home club- couldn't mail it, and they wouldn't give me a fax number either. My solution: I cancelled both of the credit cards they were charging for the membership and the training program. Now I only have to deal with their awful phone calls. I have mailed in copies of my doctor's note along with a letter explaining my situation numerous times but am still getting phone calls. I'll never sign up for a gym again and allow them to charge my credit card every month. I'll pay in cash instead.
I am a member at the Pleasant Hills, PA location. Since my membership I have become very irritated with the cleanliness in the dressing room and am considering cancelling my membership and my wifes. I love the facilities, but the musty, moldy smell is too musch. I have sinus problems. As soon as I walk in the mens dressing room- pow!- the smell hits me- I think it is in the carpet- nasty. HATE IT!!!!!! MOLD ALSO IN THE SHOWERS! Cannot take it any more. The other day they were announcing start of some type of program to clean things up, yeah right. When I got home my gym bag and shoes smelled from the carpet crap. I had to spray them with lysol to remove the stence. I HAVE HAD IT!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FED UP IN PLEASANT HILLS PA. I worked as a yoga teacher for this company ---- loved my students.....doubled my class sizes in just 2 months ---- I asked them if I could teach one class only and substitute when possible...as I had to return to nursing job as the pay is so poor there....... Not only did they not even consider....they told me not to come back. I asked if I could teach one final class to say goodbye to my students and they said NO.....THEY REALLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT STAFF OR MEMBERS....Stay away from this club. There are so many better companies who want your business.
Please advise the staff at the Dallas Mockingbird location to enforce the removal of property left in lockers nightly. I counted 62 locks on lockers in the men's locker room when the doors opened this am. Enforce the rule or assign everyone a locker. The rules should apply to EVERYONE! The "Special" people who think the rules don't apply to them should lose their crap!
My wife and I have just acuired a new membership at the Renton location. I have only been a few times and have noticed that an audit is well over due. I go to this location because it is closest to my house and is conveiniant for me. My expierence has been not up to my expectations, I am a previous Golds Gym memeber and loved their attention to detail and customer service. I guess when I am spending over $1500.00 I want a little more than two girls texting as I enter the door and not caring who comes and goes into your establishment. Some of the staff have been quite helpful although are more concerned about their sales and not much care for my health or showing me to the area to help me with my fitness. Your gyms potential for being a great place to go and enjoy a work out should all ready be in progress. But I can see it still needs a lot of work. My wife was impressed at first but now wants to withdrawl our membership. She like to be attended to and made to feel comfortable.I had made a couple of appointments and had to miss them due to O/T at my work and now I am ignored when I enter your gym. Not what I would expect from LA Fitness. Maybe I expect to much, and desire a second rate work out, but if I had a place to go that was consistantly up lifting and employment looked happy to be there and was helpful and atentive to my well being then I might be a little more abpt to stay with the gym.I am considering canceling my membership with LA Fitness.
