I agree with everything basically that's been written about the poor managemenmt, disorganization and uninviting aura of kmart. I recently shopped at a kmart in illinois (and I don't have an ounce of retail experience) yet I took one look around the store as I was waiting in line for customer service and decided I did not want to come back to spend my money at such a poorly managed retail outfit. I saw shopping carts filled with "return merchandise" that the lazy clerks had not restocked (and it was 6 p.m.). What I find most shocking is the fact that a person can't get a good shot at a manager's job at kmart unless you are overqualified. What's the point of hiring an overqualified person and the stores still look like kindergarten students manage them. Oh, one more point. Don't they pay the managers "slave" wages, about $13.00 an hour. Bingo, there's our answer folks. Kmart doesn't pay the frontline managers enough to care if the store looks like a Salvation Army store.

The store I worked for in Pensacola, Florida has gone out of business (#4723). I feel bad for the people who are out of work because of it, but I'm happy the place closed down! The managers were extremely abusive to employees when I worked there from 1989-1995. I suffered many nightmares about that place for years (post-traumatic stess). Now, the bad karma is coming back on them! The old saying "what comes around, goes around" is very true. Let that be a warning for other companies that treat their employees like dirt!

Kmart is the WORST CORPORATION that exists on earth. They take advantage of the hard-working and ethical employees and give all the love and attention to the employees their screwing. I can tell you why this company is shutting down, some of the employees including loss prevention are stealing from the store. The managers are peverts and incompetent. I will rejoice the day Kmart closes down, its a useless corporation thats taking up valuable space.

Today I went to K-mart in Buford,Georgia I walked around the store for about 30 minutes looking at various items that were being reduced due to the store closing. I had a small shoulder bag that must of looked like a backpack and as I was finishing up my shopping with several more item then I had planned to purchase the store manager came up to me and told me to take my backpack to the service desk. I stood there in shock!!!! She was accusing me of being what a shoplifter?? Why didn't she tell the parents with diaper bags to give them to the front desk?? So I dropping the items and walked out of the store. I will never go back and to think I was going to tell everyone about the good deals they were having. I think I might even consult a lawyer about this. I am over 50 and this just amazes me that even at my age in today's world there is no more respect.

I worked at Kmart for 12 years 8 months and was let go on February 10th, I didn't get any type of severance package, I guess because I was only part time and that really sucks because I guess the length of time with the company doesn't even matter. Kmart is one BIG JOKE, I haven't gotten a raise in like 3 years due to Kmart has a whole. I will never shop at Kmart EVER again, the only reason I did in the first place was because I worked there. Also when I got let go, the manager was more concerned about me giving back my discount card, I should have told him to shove the discount card up his you know what. It's like I just lost my job, and you're concerned about a darn discount card, which will be deactivated when you take me out of the system. Also all of my vacation pay should have been on my last check, not me having to wait separately for it.

I have shopped at Kmart for years. But I see why some of their stores are closing down. In my city there is this one particular store. It has the snottiest women workers at the front desk. That's why they're closing and unfortunately they will be without a job. In the same breath oh well. You can't be in customer service without that right attitude. Remember the golden rule," Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you". It really goes a very long way. I do feel sorry for some employees. But look at at fellow co-workers that I'm talking about and thank them. Without customers there is no profit in that store. And 1st and foremost Kmart's need to train ALL EMPLOYEES on treating and talking to customers. And then when you change the rules you guys seem to have gotten changed too. They changed their mind about you being an employee.

I HAVE WORKED AT KMART FOR 24 YEARS AND ON FEBRUARY 10TH, I WAS LET GO BECAUSE I HOLD THE POSITION OF A JEWELRY LEAD. I WAS NOT OFFERED ANOTHER POSITION AT THIS STORE. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CALLED BACK IF ANOTHER POSITION CAME UP. I WAS OFFERED A 8 WEEK SEVERANCE PAY THAT THE AMOUNT IS SO DESPICABLE THAT IT MAKES ME WANT TO PUKE. WHEN I THINK OF ALL THE LAYOUTS, COSMETIC RESETS AND ALL OF THE OTHER TIMELY TASKS THAT I PERFORMED FOR THESE HEARTLESS PEOPLE IT PISSES ME OFF MORE. DO ME A FAVOR AND LOSE MY NUMBER BECAUSE I WOULD NEVER WANT TO WORK FOR A UNORGANIZED CORPORATION LIKE THIS ONE EVER AGAIN. A WORD TO THE WISE BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the opionions that have been put into print. There are three things that make for a good buisness. One being good service,two well trained employees, and one good management. I am also upset with the comment that a manager made to me today in Covington,Va. I will call the corporate office and voice my distaste for the comment that was made as he walked away from the register. I was returning some flowers fo my wife that I was not satisfied with. It seems like the manager forgot the rule that the customer is right and to have used tact in handeling the return. Maybe he will have alot of time to think when he ends up in the unemployment line!

I have worked for Kmart 35 yrs I loved the customers know I'm let go because I was a jewelry lead daaa! I economony is not good people are trying to make a house payment and food on the table so u are letting me go wrong! The only thing I'm sorry for is staying there for 35 yrs. U would rather have teenagers that only care for a pay check me I gave it everything but quess what when one door closes another door opens. I believe in carma! I have told told hundtees of people never to shop at Kmart. Never thought I would say I will shop at Walmart! Remember your loss not mine! PS I'm pisses 35 yrs for what u will get it in the end Kmart will go under and its your fault you wonderful managers

Kmart is a failing business we all understand that. Certain stores like the 71st Pulaski store have some of the worst service and managers I have ever worked with. The store manager have relations with workers assistant managers abuse the use of coupons for the use of games to body wash and for this same act employees will get fired but managers can do it as they please. I've seen thousands of transactions where managers buy merchandise that they hide and buy it at 90% off regular price instead of sendind it back to genco. These managers include Heather Chris and also Rose and they will never be held responsible for their actions but all employees suffer because of they are management. The kmart corporation is one of the worst companies to work for and I wouldn't consider working for a company that is unfair to there loyal hard working employees while others walk around and talk all day but since the have a certain personal relationship with the store manager they will keep their jobs. I would consider that u never work at kmart or shop there worst company ever.

I KNOW GUYS WHO HAVE WORKED AT K-MART AND THERE GIRLFRIENDS HAVE DUMPED THEM.... THE MINUTE THEY MENTION IT TO THERE FRIENDS AND FAMILY ,THEY ARE ALREADY THINKING WHY WOULD YOU LOWER YOUR STANDARDS LIKE THAT ,I AM SO GLAD I DON'T WORK THERE ANYMORE ,I USE TO BE ASHAMED THAT SOMEONE I KNOW WOULD SEE ME THERE.....

Kmart used to be a good store, that is until they merged with Sears then they became nothing but shit. I am sorry to be so nasty but I was an employee of Kmart and was let go because of my lead Jewelry position being taken away. Working there for over 30 years, being the hard worker I am, and the one whom knows everything about that department and no one else knowing what to do without my leadership, and I get let go and told I will get a 8 week severance package and can come back as part time, ha! Is that going to take care of the bills? Is that going to get back my own insurances that I need? Or take care of my kids? NO! I do NOT advise anyone to apply to Kmart or Sears, no matter how bad you need a job because in the end you are going to get screwed over just like the hundreds of others who just did.

People dont understand what its like to work at kmart. Its hard because,a lot of the time its just one person in soft home and 2 wandering around in hardlines. I work in fashions, and i know that tonight, im going to be the only one working an 8 hour shift, and they are going to need me in fashions, jewlery, register, and to take calls concerning fashion/jewelry/soft home. the k mart store in santa paula calif. is a store that i do not intend to go to any more. it seems that their employyees are very poorly trained,if they train them at all.i was short changed about $6.16 on 02/11/12.i contacted the manager,and explained what had happened.he said that i should come in and see him. i think that this is dumb answer, because i would have to drive forty miles to retrieve the money that i was overcharged.at the price of gas to go there and back it wasn't worth it. it very evident why k mart has went down in the publics opinion. this store doesn't seem to take any pride in their traing of their employees. and the employees seem to be not responsible for their actions. walmart and target is the stores that i will shop at now. k mart will soon be a "DO YOU REMEMBER THAT STORE".the store is only as good as the manager wants to make it. MY ADVICE IS FIND ANOTHER STORE.

And here we have another example of "workforce downsizing". A very close and dear friend of mine was let go on 2/10/12. She worked at store 4327 in New Port Richey, Fl and in 2 weeks would have celebrated her 40th anniversary with the company she had literally spent the better portion of her life. This was an employee who was working for K-mart when K-mart was at the top of the ladder, maybe one of the reasons they were. But over the past several years, large companies, like K-Mart, believe they can be more profitable by replacing higher paid employees, employees who were proven performers and cared about the job they did, with part time and new highers making lower wages. Well K-Mart, with the closing of over 100 stores at the end of last year and who knows how many more in the future, how is that working for you? There's an old saying, "you get what you pay for".

Today one of Kmarts long time, very hard working & loyal workers was let go by my company - why because she a Jewelry Dept lead & Kmart no longer will have that position ! This is just another ploy to convert FT workers to PT ones, a tactic that used to be illegal or just plain unethical in America! Audrey was given an 8 week severance deal & was told she could then re-apply for a job with our store at a lesser level & of course less money - what a way of doing business, screw the ones who work their butts off year after year ! Why don't the CEO's lay out a plan that will put more money in the registers rather than taking more money out of good workers pockets ? Kmart used to be the leader in the retail industry in America but now it is just another bunch of weasels crushing the middle class workers of AMERICA while lining their own bank accounts !

I am beyond angry with kmart. I ordered a desktop computer from them end of january and it arrived a few days later. i open the box and they didnt send the monitor that was suppose to come with it and the keyboard was damaged. i contact customer service and they take down my info and told me to expect an email in 24-48 hours. i get an email about 36 hours later telling me they would forward the complaint to the research department and i must wait 5-7 business days for a response. i wasnt happy with that however i waited. I emailed them today 2-10-12 which is a week after the last email for an update. They are now telling me i have to wait an additional 5-7 business days from yesterdays date of 2-9-12 for them to research it. Im down right pissed! i will be contacting corporate tomorrow and i will not be buying anything from them again.

Who thought of the brilliant idea to have creepy old guys waiting for you when you walk inside Kmart or worse yet seeking you out in the store after you have obviously ignored them? Yes the AppleBy windows guys. They make you feel on the defense because they suddenly appear out of no where and my 17 year old daughter almost hit the guy yesterday. He wouldn't just take no and go away. I expressed my complaint and concerns to a supervisor and she said she didn't even know why they were in the store. They like to say 'we are just taking a survey' bull **** they want to sign you up so they can get your name and number to SELL you WINDOWS!! Kmart is very successful at driving customers away, one way or another. This was the Walnutport PA store if anyone cares. Oh and the 'do you have a rewards card?' ask me again, go ahead, I dare you!!

KMart in Annandale, Virginia (just outside of Washington, D.C.): Poorly stocked. Messy aisles: products, boxes, clothes, trash in the aisle. Price tags missing. Finally gave up and went a few miles over to Target: got everything I needed there. Really, KMart should be embarrassed by how they run their stores. If they REALLY cared, they would send corporate personnel unannounced to these stores, and pay a surprise visit to see how trashy and unprofessional their stores are.

My credit card and debit card was stolen. The cards were tried at CVS,Best Buy, Walmart and Kmart 04939 in Niles Ohio. All the other stores turned the cards down because of no ID. The only store that didn't turn the cards down was Kmart. When I made out the police report the police officer said - let me guess Niles Kmart let the punks use the debit and credit card. I sai Yes and he said Yep that Kmart is known for that. All the punks go there!! They charged 506.00 on my card with no ID and then 368.00 on my debit with no ID. Sad when the police department knows which store will accept stolen cards with no problem
