First of all there should be a zero star rating. Also I wonder who reads this other than angry past customers. Midas is a terrible place to take your car.

I HATE MIDAS.

I went to midas in Miami 9 st sw Lejeune, i have already spend abot $2,600.00 in repairs and my car is not running like i should, they changed some fluids transmition, oil, clean the a/c hode and 4 brand new tires and now the car has like a noise that kind of pulls you back when you speed up more and now a oil sensor it lights up on the dasboard, a young mechanic that they have now does not know anything and cannot tell me why tbe car is has that weird noise, i feel that i been ripped off, also the parts that they order for you, they charge you double. I got a estimate price from Midas and a auto part, and auto parts has it for half the prize. I will not recomend this place beca use you will not be satisfied

I went to Midas in Clifton Park, NY to have my inspection. I was told my back brake pads were very rusted and the pads were heating up so badly that my back brakes were not even working and this was very dangerous. They gave me an estimate for new brakes and pads for $302.00. I had them reject my inspection and took my car to my local garage who replaced all my brakes 3 years ago and less than 15,000 miles ago. He also inspected the brakes and told me there was no problem with my brakes. I also took my car to a reliable friend who had a car repair service and he too said my brakes were fine and there was no danger driving my car. While at Midas the tech brought me out in the garage and showed me how much trouble he was having moving my wheel and it was all rusted. The other two people who looked at the wheels were able to move the wheel much more freely. this was my last visit to Midas.

I went for an oil change then went to a mechanic to fix something for my tire and they told me I meexed a new oil filter ..seriously they couldnt afford to replace a $3 filter!!! P.o.s company and $30 for what to get ripped off ..I would never go to midas again

My sister purchased a car from the manager at the Woodbridge New Jersey Store. The manager was nothing but obnoxious and rude. He sold her a junk car. When she went back to him several times advising him that something is wrong he told her nothing is wrong with the car. She finally went for second opinion and was told the calipers are seized and the transmission is going. This man is so rude and treats woman like we are idiots. I will never step foot in that store nor do I recommend anyone else.

If there was a zero stars I would use it. These guys are con men. My brakelines went. I called Midas Groton for a price. I told them I could not drive in for an estimate because no bakes. I quoted me for ALL brakelines and calipers. I repeated asked is this a firm quote because I do not want to spend the $150 + to tow the car in if not. They replied absolutely . They called up and said they didn't realize how much work nedded and jacked the price 50%. I went to corporate and they agreed to fix for the price. Then they only did two lines and two calipers and tried to fool me. They also tried to getaway with not replacing the caliper hoses. A direct quote from one of their mechanics after one of the hoses went on a test drive . " they tried to get away with not replacing the Caliper hoses". They are Cons. They do it because they have your vehicle hostage. I'm fed up. Not going to take this anymore. It's going to court.

Not surprised to see so many 1 star reviews. . . .Do people know that if a Catalytic Converter fails, or comes up as a problem that is diagnosed from your engine light being on. . . . This repair Needs to Be Done At No Cost to the Vehicle Owner, as Long as your Vehicle has less than 80,000 miles. . . This is a Federal EPA Law . . . I am Sure that Midas, Being in the Car Exhaust System Business is fully aware of this. However, my van had 79,000 and the Proceeded to Quote me A replacement Cost for my Cat Converter of Almost $1000. . . . This is quite costly, So I went home and researched the situation. . . . Only to find out that It Is A FEDERAl LAW that is the Cat Converter Fails Before 80,000 It Is To Be A FREE REPAIR!!!!!!! Well, in the meantime, the Van Ticked just past 80,000!!!!!! Now What??? I contacted Midas, explained the situation. The Corporate Office and the Manager of the Addison, IL store understood the problem and said they would "Take Care of It" Not only did they Not take care of it, But they Did Nothing. . . And Actually just decided to Ignore Me an the Situation, and the Manager and Midas Corporate Stopped returned my Calls. . .I think I need to Let as Many People I know about this, So that No One Else gets Ripped Off like I did . . .And Midas will Think Twice before they Ignore people who get ripped off by them. . . CBS, ABC, WGN, NBC. . . I'm sure they will help me Spread the Word. . . In the meantime, . . . . Beware !!!

I also wish there was a zero because all this company does is train their employees to rip you off!! I broke down with my van about 30 miles away from home i went to a midas shop in riverhead long island and spoke to a man named Mike and was told that they can tow it and fix the issue and would call me for a price.. well the price i get is 1040.00 for basicly a tune up. so i have it towed homeand find out it doesnt need a tune up or spark plugs or wires or a rotor cap and doesnt need an injection cleaning. It needed one part that cost 65 dollars and it was done in 1 and half hours and mt total cost was 287.65 for the whole thing including the tow!! What a bunch of crooks.. dont trust them i could only imagin if i was a woman!! maybe 2000 to fix it! terrible!!! DON'T GO TO MIDAS TERRIBLE SERVICE TOTAL RIP OFF!!!

I wish there were an option for zero stars, which is what the Midas in Stow, OH deserves after my most recent visit. My check engine light came on less than 24 hours after getting my car fixed at Midas in Stow, OH. One of the things I had done was getting my spark plugs replaced. Upon arrival at the shop the following morning, I was told I would get a courtesy diagnostic test, which I did appreciate. Supposedly, the diagnostic test revealed that I needed additional repairs worth $1,300 to fix the same issue I came in for the previous day. I politely declined and went to get a 2nd opinion. Turns out, the wrong spark plugs were installed in my vehicle just the day before and I needed to replace them again to make the issue go away. I called Midas in Stow, OH to inform them about what I had found out and that is when things turned quite unprofessional and offensive. The manager, Larry, told me that he would look at it but that he is sure that they are the right spark plugs. So basically, I was more than welcome to come back and I was pretty much told over the phone that I will not get the correct spark plugs for my vehicle from them at no charge?. Aside from the fact that I literally wasted over $120 (I know it was a waste because after getting them replaced again, my car is running smoother than every before), I was verbally assaulted by the manager. He said that if I needed a second opinion because I didn't trust him, he doesn't want my business:. It was pointed out to me that if I didn't have the money for the $1,300 repairs, I have no business paying for a diagnostic test at another shop. These were just a few of the "kind" things he had to say to me;. Our conversation ended with him hanging up on me/. Mind you, the entire time I was not even accusatory, angry, or unprofessional in my conversation with him/. Well, guess what Larry at Midas in Stow? I don't trust you and you shall not have my business! I got everything taken care of for $375 (new spark plugs and spark plug wires, including diagnostic test), which is far from the $1,300 estimate I was given by Larry the manager. Never again!

I know the folks that worked on my truck did not intend for what happened to happen but they are responsible copletely responsible and they will make it right eventually.................the brand new calipers fell off my left front wheel and locked the wheel in a solid stop at 35 mile per hour in traffic at night...................I could have been killed...............Midas is going to deal with my insurance and attorney now so I can rest and heal my injuries, I don't know when I will be able to drive again and this is completely midas's fault completely without any question they left the bolts out of the installation the truck had less then 20 miles on the brake repair. my truck is a total loss the engine will not turn over there is not comp[rssion on 2 of the cylinders? when the truck experienced the GROUND COLLISON which is what the insurance company calls this kind of incident. I found that a relief becaus I did not know what to call what happened. the truck was catapulted upright to stand on the left front corner and then slamme back down to the pavement BUT IT DID NOT FLIP!!!!now I do not believe the truck is safe to drive and untill it has been repaired completely and inspected by ASE certifed mechanics and foundto be 100% safe I will not drive in that vehicle again............Midas will repair this truck if it cost them all the money from there corporation forever. I want my truck back not their money.

I took my car to a midas in florissant mo several times becuse if overheating issues...the first two times the manager told me it ws my water pump and then my radiator. A week after the radiator was replaced it started overheating again!!! The manager assured me it was a just a broken gauge eventhough my check engine light was on...two different times! Im not sure if im more mad that the people I entrusted to FIX my car charged me over a grand total and it STILL isnt fixed or that they lied to me and now im going to have to replcemy engine!

I went to midas on rout 9 in howell nj for the 20 $ oil change and tire rotation. I was there for about an hour. When I was paying I aked them if they rotated the tires. He said yes. Before I left my house I marked the tires with a marker. They were never rotated. He rotated them after I told him. I will never go back there again.

be cleaned.I was charged 10 dollars for this service. However, when i went to NTB for a possible replacement it was not a bad battery as midas service indicated- because they checked wrong amps. Also, they did not clean the post they charged me for. I returned to midas for a refund on cleaning of the post, and was told by your mgr. name ( craig) that it was WIPED and it was to bad. I had confirmation from NTB that the post was not cleaned. Your mgr.was not pleasant to rectify the problem,so I contacted my DISCOVERY card and filed a grivence. I was a long time customer but I will not be so anymore, thanks to your congenial mgr.(CRAIG)

There should be a 0 star button on the drop down to indicate beyond POOR SERVICE!!! I definitely would have marked that one...I recently took my Yukon to the Midas Service Center at 8816 North Black Canyon Rd. in Phoenix, AZ. All I wanted was a simple oil change & brake flushing. this took place on August 9th, 2012. By the 13th of August after a 30 mile trip the truck began hesitating and then froze the breaks completely up. I had to have the vehicle towed to my house by Kwik tow INC. It was immmobile by this point. I called Ryan that following Monday and told him I would be bringing my vehicle back for him to look at. I explained to him that the brakes were frozen the truck was pulling badly and the Service Stability light came on.He then informed me that he was a different Ryan and he had my wheel lock to give back as well. I told him that they never rotated my tires as my coupon indicated, so why did they need my wheel lock? He wasn't sure. He said just come in when you can and we will take a look. I took the vehicle in on August 17th, 2012. I talked to the Original blonde haired Ryan and he said he would call me in a bit. He called about an hour later and said that I needed to come pick my truck up, that there was nothing that he could do for mne. I asked him was I ok to drive and he said sure, just take it to a Dealership because they couldn't get the diagnostics to communicate. I asked him did they take it for a drive to even see what was wrong and he said yes. He then explained to me that he couldn't rotate my tires. That one I STILL don't understand. So, I left the shop at about 6:10pm and started my drive home in rush hour traffic. I got approximately a half a mile in deadlocked traffic and the trusk started hesitating and the brake pedal slammed on the brakes when barely tapped. Then it started smoking. I was trying to veer to the side of the road, but there was only a very narrow shoulder on this one lane street. My co-worker Tara Vandall was following me and panicking when she saw fire. The vehicle barely made it to my Apartment parking lot where I poarked it half way in because it froze. As I jumped out there were flames behind both front tires. We both called 911 and FD arrived within moments. The fire was put out by the time they arrived, but the stench of burning rubber and smoke was still very prevelant. There were 7 firemen and they couldn't even get as close a s they wanted to due to the intense heat. The rims alone were scorching hot. They tried to put my truck in neutral and park it decently, but to no avail. They spent about 45 minutes looking under and around my truck to see what they could. Each one told me the same thing. They indicated that there had to have been air in the lines that wasn't properly bled out and there was a hole in the cap to the brake fluid. As I was out there with FD, I called Midas at 7:17pm to let them know what had hapopened and that I needed a call back when they opened at 7:30am on Saturday the 18th, 2012. By 11:40 am I was annoyed of no return call and called them. The blonde Ryan said he never got a message. WoW! Really??? I explained what happened and all he asked me for was a contact number. I waited and waited and waited. At about 4pm a man called and asked if he could come by Sunday the 18th, 2012 to look at the vehicle. I said sure, but I wanted to be present. Sunday came and no call. He finally called from a different # and left no message. I had to text back and ask who it was and he said the midas guy. I should've called first, so I will try and be back monday the 20th, 2012. Monday at about 11am he called and myself and my Uncle George went out to meet him. It was him and the blonde Ryan. Ryan was already under my truck and looking at things. no one went in to the vehicle, started the vehicle, attempted to drive the vehicle, etc...George Booker the Customer Service Manager was less than friendly and uncoopoerative. I said so basically you are disclaiming this and telling me there is nothing you can do? He stated,"Pretty much!" I voiced my opinion that I would be furthering my claim to the appropriate parties. That was it! Now I am here... jaimee

I used to always go to Midas in Oak Ridge, Tn. until my last experience. Midas sends out "buy 4 oil changes get one free" and in small writing has an experation date of about one month (who gets 4 oil changes in one month??) The "new" manager argued with me about the "expired" coupon I had and when I explained that the other manager told me they do NOT expire he stated he would take it this time but never again. Do NOT worry, new manager, I will not be back!

Im a new Midas Customer And my issue isnt the customer service reception here at Sratford CT shop, Its the ongoing issue I have with no CONTROL or REGULATION on the asbestos issue in many auto shops. We all need to fight for the EPA and NIOSH or OSHA to be active is mandating the use of the apparatus equipment needed to minimize or eliminate exposure to the shop mechanics and WE THE PUBLIC! There are many vehicles with asbestos in the clutch, brakes, and a bunch of other parts like gaskets, hood liners etc, still in this time of yr 2012. Many aftermarket brake pads and shoes are coming from China, where there are no regulation on how much Chrysotile asbestos is used in these brake, Clutch products sold at places like AutoZone or Pep Boys , you name the chains. So its about time we see too it that ALL MIDAS shop locations as well as other major auto service chains have a new mandated (by the public) law that forces ALL of these shops to use proper methods, with trained staff to service drum brakes with these saftey measures: Negative Pressure Enclosure/HEPA Vacuum (special enclosed vacuum system within a windowed box that seals off job to protect mechanics and public) Low Pressure /Wet Cleaning (special low pressure wet cleaning tub-basin to reduce or prevent airborne brake dust) So lets push for this and stop the asbestos exposure! We have enough cancer!

I olny gave one star because that is the lowest rating I can give. My wife took our van to midas to get the oil changed and have the tires rotated. I picked her up to run an errand and when I dropped her off back at midas they had pulled the van in and had the wheels off. The guy changing the oil said that the oil drain plug had neen rounded and they wanted to sell her a new one for $10. Since they had done the last two oil changes I said that they were responsible for any damage to the plug so I wouldn't be paying for the new plug which wouldn't be rounded anyway if they had used an apropriately sized socket and a ratchet instead of an air hammer and a one size fits all socket. An air hammer on a drain plug? They were also trying to convince my wife that we needed a brake job. There was still over 1/8 " of pad left, which admittedly is not a whole lot but they told my wife that they were about to start grinding, which they were not. I told them to put the brakes back on and I would replace the pads later. 3000 Miles later (with no grinding) I changed the pads myself. When I removed the wheel from the front driver's side I found that the bolts that hold the caliper in place had not even been screwed back in! I don't mean that they weren't tight, I mean that they weren't even in the holes! The caliper was completely loose. This could have caused a catestrophic brake faliure that could have caused the DEATH my entire family. Is it worth the possible loss of life to get back at a customer by sabotaging their brakes for the loss of the cost of an unneeded brake job? I was completely dumbfounded and absolutely enraged. I don't know what action I can take since It would be near to impossible to prove but I will surely tell everybody that I know that they are taking their life and the lives of their family members in their hands when they allow Midas to "work" on their car.

The company need to have training on customer services skills really bad.. The location everybody need to beaware of is on 19th ave indianschool rd.. Very very bad plae to go to I will be calling BBB asap.. My freind was getting her truck fix with her own parts the man that was workig on the car got very upset and went off the the lady. She is a senior citizen thats not able to handle people yelling at her and acting crazy. So I went up to the location to see what going on the manager very unprofessional saying the he owns the place and 19th ave indianschool is the main corporate office... well that funny right now i see your the main headquaters.. He told us to leave, and the owner will be in ... So I hope he is prfessional to get the situation taken care... My friend paid in cash and still have to put up with the bullshit. So if she dont get things done I told her to take your company to court...

I went in to the Midas in East Wareham because my check engine light came on suddenly. I paid for the diagnostic. It came up with a code indicating a leak in my evaporative emissions system. I paid $350 (Less the $50 diagnostic fee, so $300) to have the problem fixed with a new canister vent valve. Within three days, the check engine light came back on. I took it back to the same Midas, and was informed that it was because of my gas cap. They ordered another gas cap from the dealer (another forty five dollars) When it came in, from the dealer, it was the wrong cap. How an item that is ordered from the dealer allegedly off of my VIN number comes in wrong is another question. The correct part came in the next day. Again, came in to have it fixed. It's been another five days, and the light comes on again. I've now wasted around four hundred dollars to fix a problem with the car I use heavily for my work, and the problem is not fixed. I contacted the Midas where these repairs took place and was told there is nothing they could do in terms of reparation. I do not trust them to repair my car again.
