I have been going to Midas on and off for past year or so for repairs and oil changes in Columbus, OH well I go in today for oil change the mechanic calls me out and tells me the drain plug has been broke off now I need to replace the oil pan for a whopping 518.99 I believe they are negligent and I was so upset I didn't even know what to do then it is going to take 4 days for the part to come from Canada, so I am calling in the morning because I feel this is their fault and they should repair it for free, now I do not have transportation to take my brother to his cancer treatments which are everyday
Holy moly....I went to Midas on Market Street in Chattanooga,TN last week to get a basic service for my 2006 Camaro. First of the lady behind the counter looked as though she had worn the same clothes for days and was accompanied by a gentleman that smelled of alcohol (bad)! That should have been my first clue to leave that business. I finally got thru to them on what I wanted done. An oil change and check out my brakes. Well 3 hrs later I was still waiting. I went to the counter to ask how much longer it would be only to discover that the man that smelled of alcohol had not given the work order to the mechanics!!! At this point I was very upset and asked for the manager, turns out the manager was the lady in the dirty, wrinkled clothes. As I was trying to talk to her, 2 kids came into the store and were running around everywhere. Turns out those were her children. I could not get a word in edgewise to the manager! I just asked for my keys back and left the store! Bottom line is...that is a business not a daycare! i would never suggest going there!
0 stars, in fact minus 10 stars. I took my car to Midas after I was recommended to replace my right axle. I was moving across the country so I figured Midas would be good if anything went wrong. After driving 4000 miles and countless others since I have been back my car started making this clanging sound. I took it to a transmission place who determined it was something else and sent me to an all around mechanic. Of course when I got there the sound had stopped (to be continued later)but they did mention that something was going on with my steering. While inspecting the steering the noticed that 4 of the 6 bolts holding my axle on were missing and the other 2 loose enough to be hand turned. I could not drive my car which I needed for work. They told me I was so lucky I came in as it was so close to falling off. Needless to say I was mortified as I drive on I-80,I-880,and the Bay Bridge everyday. I called Midas the next day and they were not at all timely in their response and pretty much accused ME (and my mechanic) of making it up and that I should have took it to Midas,it was out of warranty blah blah blah.I told him the warranty would be in effect if in fact they actually fixed the job correctly, they never put the locking parts into place that is why the bolts got loose. I could go on and on about the lack of professionalism, no remorse, etc. Oh it looks like I have to take them to court now. Oh and that rattling sound was one of the bolts that had come loose and was rattling around inside my transmission. I stopped when it lodged itself inside and had to be drilled out.
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED 4 BRIDGSTONE ALUNZA HL TIRES FROM THE 1722 SOUTH MARKET STREET CHATTANOOGA, TN STORE FOR OUR 1999 FORD EXPEDITION. WELL, 23000 MILES LATER ALL 4 TIRES ARE WORN OUT TO 0\32. WE HAD AN ALIGNMENT DONE WHEN WE PURCHASED THE TIRES AND ALL WAS GOOD. WE ALSO HAD THE FRONT END CHECKED OUT AND ALL WAS STILL GOOD. THE WARRANTY ON THESE TIRES WERE 60000 MILES. WE WENT BACK TO THE STORE AND WE WERE TOLD THEY DONT DO ANY WARRANTY WORK ON THE TIRES THEY SELL. WE WENT TO THE TIRE DIST FOR FIRESTONE\BRIDGESTONE AND WE WERE TOLD THE INVOICE WAS NO GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS VOIDED OUT FROM THE OWNER. COME TO FIND OUT WHEN THIS OWNER GETS CASH FOR WORK DONE AT THIS STORE, SHE VOIDS THE TICKETS OUT AND POCKETS THE CASH SO SHE DOSENT HAVE TO PAY ROYALTIES TO MIDAS CORP. NOW WE HAVE TO PAY FOR TIRES AGAIN BECAUSE NOBODY WILL HELP US. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO MIDAS OR RECOMMEND THEM TO FIX MY BICYCLE TIRE. THEY ARE RUDE AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO CUSTOMERS. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY AND DONT CARE ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING. IF WERE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO A MIDAS FOR ANY WORK PLEASE PLEASE DONT.
I bought a set of bridgestone tires from the Midas in Chattanooga, TN 1722 south market street. They were on sale thru Bridgestone...Buy 4 tires get a 100 dollar rebate so that is what we did. The tires had a 65,000 mile warranty on them. at 33,000 miles I needed new tires so I returned to the store and was told that I needed to go to the Bridgestone shop so I did. Dummy me mailed in my original receipt 4 the rebate so I had asked the manager/ owner of that Midas for a copy and was told she did not have one. I eventually got one from the rebate center only to presented with the statement that the receipt was a fraud! The invoice reciept had been voided in the Midas computer immediately after it was given to me. I had no idea of this until now. the rebate card that I received was given back to the Midas to finish paying 4 the tires so I never used it...the store owner did. All in all this illegal act is trying to ne pinned on me..the paying customer. The whole time ( 3 days of going back and forth to the bridgestone store) Midas and Bridgestone were n contact with each other. Evidently I was being conveyed as a theif and horrible person to Bridgestone so I was treated horrible. I then contacted the legal dept 4 bridgestone and explained the situation even though I was told by bridgestone and Midas not 2 contact their headquaters but I needed to let them know the truth. After I left bridgestone I attempted to contact the owner of Midas but she hung up on me. Next thing I know, her husband was calling me on my cell phone acting belligerent yelling and screaming at me that I was and dumb, ignorant idiot and was threatened to never call their store again! He told me that they were my tires, my problem and to deal with it. that he would call the police on me...for what I dont know. lol! so I did deal with it by contacting Midas corporate and Bridgestone corporate. I was told that they would launch a full investigation. I received a phone call from corporate and they stated that they were still trying to reach that franchise. I also did recieve a free, brand new set of tires from bridgestone. i do not lie, cheat or steal and do not appreciate being conveyed that way. What the owner and husband of midas and the guys from bridgestone dont know is that every single conversationwe had was recorded. I had a voice recorder in my pocket so everyone will definitely know the truth! please take the advice in these columns to heart. If u value ur hard earned money, DO NOT go to MIDAS for anything!

do not waste your time and money at midas hamilton. District supervisor darrel needs to refund me my money! Midas doesnt live up totheir policyand could careless about your vehical or customerservice. Free oil changes dont always satisfy your clients!
The Midas facility in Poway has a very poor idea of what customer service is. Three weeks ago, we took my Elantra in for an oil change and to get the air conditioner serviced. They changed the oil and did not realize the machine to refill the coolant was broken until hours later. They assured us it would only take at most two weeks to get the machine serviced. Now, three weeks later the machine is still not working and neither is my air conditioner. I am very disappointed in this facility and would recommend anyone who foolish enough to go there to bring a very good, long book and not care if their car gets fixed completely on that day.
If there was a 0 rating for stars the Midas in Oceanside on Mission Blvd would have gotten it. One of my calipers had come loose and the bottom bolt had fallen out while I was going down the highway, luckily I was able to pull over before anything too serious happened. I knew I had some brake damage but since I am no expert I went to Midas. They tell me that I need a new caliper because the pistons wouldn't contract, the inside brake pad was almost gone, and that I had a crack in my rotor. They said it was going to be over 700.00 to get fixed if I needed a new rotors, 500.00 if they could resurface the rotors. I asked if they could just resuface the rotors, and they said they couldn't do that unless I got the whole thing done. When I let them know I couldn't get the work done right now, they tried to scare me by saying that the car was unsafe to drive. I decided to not get the work done there and try to get it done by a buddy of mine and based off what Midas told me, I went online and ordered a new caliper, pads and rotors. I had my buddy look at it, which I should have done in the first place. My caliper was not what was damaged! It was the guide bolt to the caliper mount which costs less than 30.00! My pads were worn some, but had plenty of life left. The only thing they got right was that there was a hairline crack in the rotor. I kept the new pads and rotors, but I am sending back the caliper. I am going to see if the old rotors are still good and if they are just hold onto them. If I had just done what I needed to absolutley needed to get done, it would have cost between 100.00 to 300.00, depending on the condition of the rotor after resurfacing. Oh and the parts I did order were all high performance and I got them cheaper than the standard parts Midas was trying to sell me. Midas also did not tell me about the core charge on the caliper, so they were plannin
I went to Midas for an oil change and tire rotation. I also ask the guy to check my tire pressure because it was low and needed air. When I picked up my car I asked the guy did they do the tire rotation he said yes but I knew he didn't because my wheel lock kit wasn't even opened. When I confronted him, he said oh I couldn't find it but I left the wheel lock kit on the front seat because they told they couldn't find it last time and I told the guy at the front desk where it was. They also didn't check my tire pressure but told me it was ok when my car tells me it was still low. If they didn't do the tire rotation and check the tire pressure it makes me wonder if they even changed my oil.
I took my car to Midas in Erlanger.I was told i needed new rotors on the front,my tires were out of balance,i needed new power steering fluid,my full injectors needed cleaning, and i needed new window wiper blades. My back brakes were fine.OK,here we go.I had just changed my wiper blades the day before.I had just had new tires put on and they were balanced.I had them put on the new brakes on the front without changing the rotors. The next day i left for Florida. When i got there my braks on the front were smoking so bad that someone wanted to call the fire dept.I took it to midas the next day in Winter Haven and was told that i had a bad calipers all the way around my truck. One was bad and when one goes bad they are all need to be replaced. The brake pads in the rear were as thin as a razor blade.Funny, they were OK in Ky.These people are a rip off. They must be taught to lie.from this day forward i would not let them put air in my bicycle tires.
Midas is a JOKE... service at all locations is horrible as you can see from above. Took my car to Baltimore location on Eastern Ave, had them check the back brakes to see if I needed new brake shoes, tech told me they were fine. Left the store with my 8 year old daughter and heard loud rubbing noise when I would turn right so went somewhere else to have it looked at and when then actually showed me my brakes there was no brakes shoes even left and that rubbing sound that was NOT there until Midas lookd at my car was a broken pin. So this HORRIBLE company broke the pin on my breaks told me they were fine and let me drive off with broken breaks with my child in the car! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE... WILL TELL PEOPLE TO NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
I have used Midas for over 30 years. I went to the North Hills McKnight Road, Pennsylvania Midas shop for my maintenance oil change and check engine light. The shop manager "Alan" told me I need Oxygen Sensors to correct the check engine light. Alan stated that he didn't have enough money in his register to purchase the oxygen sensor and if I could pay for cash that he would waive the diagnostic fee of $69.99 + tax. I told him I was paying for cash any way for everything. He went back into the shop area and came back asking for the $140.00 to pay for the part. I gave him the cash. Shortly after a truck pulled up and Alan along with the truck driver and another man who worked there stood around my SUV talking. Alan came back to the register printed out the documents for the work, placed everything in the Midas folder and handed it to me. He returned back to the shop area. My car was still on the rack with the tires off. I pulled the documents out of the folder and noticed that it didn't have that I paid cash for the work performed. I called Alan back out to the front desk. I questioned why the other services were listed on the document (we never talked about them) and why there wasn't anything stating that I paid cash. Alan replied that he didn't charge me for the diagnostic services (but it was on the document). I informed him I need proof that I paid cash for the work in case something happened and I have to bring it back. He said that any of the oxygen sensors in the tank could go bad, there are a total of 5 in there, so my check engine light could come back on. I insisted that he mark on the document that I paid $140 cash for the oxygen sensors. He marked paid cash; I told him to initial it. He did. He went back into the shop area. Then he quickly returned and said, "let me give you my personal phone number just in case you have any problems you can contact me directly" I called my friend (back on the phone) and said "I think I was just hussled by the Midas Manager." She just laughed. When my car was complete Alan came back out of the shop area and asked me for the money for the oil change. I'm wondering now, why didn't he have me pay for every thing at one time, especially since the oil change was on the other document. I just assumed he was inefficient. I paid the remaining $37.99 in cash to him. He put the document back into my Midas envelope along with the other documents. I told him, I should be up for a free oil change by now. He looked in the system and said, "yes, you are the next time you come in I'll stamp the envelope for you." I said, "stamp it now, so I won't have to pay for the next time." He pulled out the stamp and stamped all but the fee oil change block. Not more than 2 days passed after I got the work done at exactly 90.5 miles after leaving the shop, my check engine light was back on again. I really began to feel like I was hussled by Alan. The following day after the check engine light came on I began to question if my oil was really changed. Curious I pulled over off the side of the road to check my oil level... my oil was dirty and it was below the last dot on the oil gauge. Here, Alan took my cash money not only for the oxygen sensors that he did not replace, but he took my cash money for my oil change and worse yet, he left my car in the state of causing some very serious damange. I called the Midas shop today 1/27/11 but Alan is in a meeting. I asked for the corporate number but no one knew it. They gave me Dale's phone number; he's the supervisor they said. I called Dale and left him two messages about what happened. I am on my way up to the Midas shop to get oil in my car to prevent my engine from locking up. I want Alan reported to the corporate office, as I believe that he has hussled more than just lil' ole' me. I believe he hussles every customer who pays in cash racking that money up in his pocket and printing out "estimate" documents shoving them in the Midas folder to unsuspecting dedicated customers for work never completed.
Midas is terrible, I waited 9 and a half hours for my car to be repaired. $800 dollars for a two rotors, two new brake pads, two hubs, and bearings. Rip off! I checked later to see how much I could get it for ebay for the same type of Toyota Corolla 2001 and it was at least 300 -350 without labor. They took way too long told me they got the part they sent for and told me immediately they will put it on and never put it on till later. Worst service ever! I had to take a whole day off work to do this! Midas is a terrible company.
On 1/12/11 my 89 year old father went to Midas in Hales Corners WI because his front drivers' side tire was flat. I had set up an appointment for Sat 1/15/11 with another company but my dad refused to wait so drove to midas to get his tire fixed. Midas sold him a new tire at the price of TWO new tires. On Saturday as I was taking the car to get the rest of the tires replaced I noticed that the car was not riding smoothly it was a very bumpy ride. When I got to the other tire company I explained to them what had happened, that, one tire was new. After checking the car the fellow came in and told me that the wrong tire was put on my dad's car. He stated that it was a "gray area" that it looked to him as if Midas has sold my dad something that was laying in the back just to sell him a new tire. He also stated that, that tire should NEVER have been put on the front of the car. That, I assumed, accounted for the fact that the car did not ride smoothly. I called Midas and asked them if I could bring the tire back and get a refund. Even a partial refund would have been okay as I had no use for the tire. The man at Midas refused to give me any money back and actually yelled at me that I did not understand. I truly think that I do understand! I understand that an old man came into Midas in Hales Corners, WI and was given "the business." My advice is: STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS THEY ARE UNETHICAL!
i took my car for a alingment and the car still run horrible . i keep brining my car back and nothing is being done i think that they should close down midas nationwide.
Had front end work done at the Grand Forks, ND location in November, in December the drivers side front wheel broke off because they had only attached the wheel with one lug nut. This resulted in just under $2000.00 of vehicle damage. Fortunately, no one was killed or injured. Midas wishes we would just go away or forget about the incident. Never go to a Midas!
The Campbell Store (California) is terrible. I went there doing oil change but the person there ask me fixing two engineer mounts, he said the third (rear) is good. After they did fix (charge almost $400), my car is getting noise and vibrate. I asked them show me the old parts which they took off from my car, they said couldn’t find it. In order to fix the noise and vibrate, they said need fix the third (rear) mount, and going to charger me another a few hundred dollars. My car was nice and quite before and now is noise and vibrate.
Sure wish I had seen this website before I went to the Fairview Heights Midas in Illinois. I was on my way home from shopping and saw the brake special sign they had I figured I would stop because I had a little squeak and thought I would have it checked out. $1900 later I am still having problems. They stated all my rotors, drums, pads, shoes, struts, sway bar links needed to be replaced and I had a caliper suck that they could unstick and it would be fine, that cost me $40. Unfortunately I agreed to their service. When I drove my car out of their lot a heard a pop and then it felt like all my tires went flat. I turned around, not even 100 yards, and went right back. They told me the sway bar links gave and would replace them first thing in the morning. So when I went to get it the next morning I didn't get very far before I heard the metal on metal grinding coming from my car. I again went back to be told a pin on the brakes was rubbing on my new rotors and they fixed it. As the drove by me for a test drive my son and I heard a clicking sound. When I inquired about it I was told the struts need 500 miles to wear in. I had it at this point and took it to another mechanic. Thank God I didn't wait 500 miles. The mechanic replaced 3 of the 4 sway bars, left all the clamps to my brake lines unfastened, overtightened on bolt to the struts to a point of putting it into the rubber bushing the other they reused my bolt and forgot the washer, the rear brakes were not adjusted after new drums and pads were installed, the cable to my ABS was shoved into the rim area and rubbing on the inner rim. The Midas district manager made a promise to fix it all and have my mechanic look at it again to be sure everything was good. Well I drove from Midas to my mechanic after two days of waiting for it to be 'Fix' to find out one of the sway bars they put on is bad. How does a company with this many screw ups exist still?
Sir or Ma,am I would like to report what happened at one of your MIDAS stores to my son today. He went to get an inspection on his 2004 Sportstrac. He was told that the brake light was on and he needed to get his pads (all around) changed and the right ball joint was loose. They failed his inspection unless he got his brakes flushed, pads change and ball joint replaced. This vehicle was at the same store less than two years ago and had brakes serviced, all pads changed (front and rear) and rotors changed on the front. They through the front end so far out of alignment it destroyed a New tire before I noticed it. The brake light was on because the fluid level was low and once topped off the light went out. You are the brake people right? Assume you know to check the brake fluid right? Instead we get the “you need all this work done”. What a rip off. I took the vehicle to another inspection station (not MIDAS) and guess what? It did not have the problems as reported by your store. I called the store on 25 March 0400 PM and talked to the Manager and he said that this is not what he said was wrong with the car but it is written on the sticker. I asked for the STATE INSPECTION NUMBER of this store and was given 7864. I am going to call and report this to the STATE Patrol Inspection folks. The sad part of all this is, the manager told me he did not do the inspection but would not tell me what we could do to make this right. He just said “what can I say”. Customer service is not your strong suit and someone lying to me is just wrong. In this economy I would think you wanted to keep in business. I am so disappointed in this store I will never use MIDAS for anything again and I will tell others about it. STORE INFORMATION: 3696 Holland Road Virginia Beach, VA 23452 757-498-9898 STATE Inspection number 7864 No Longer a MIDAS customer,
