Please, oh pa-leeze Merle Norman...bring back your waterproof liquid eyeliner! I am active in sports and your wonderful eyeliner stayed on. I have wasted so much money on eyeliners that won't stay on.
Wow! Bev sounds like she may be a disgruntled employee????? I have been to the Canton Merle Norman for years and I feel like part of their "family". The owner is very accomodating as well as the other beauty consultants. If I ever any questions about my own personal issues that have come up over the years, I always have my questions answered and the perfect product that will help. I will be a Merle customer for life! Also, they are Made in the USA!!!
The Merle Norman store in Canton,Ohio is an absolute train wreck. I've used Merle Norman for years. They hired a girl in December, i believe. Very sweet girl and very knowledgable. The owner would sit and chastise this girl constantly in front of customers. I believe its because she upstaged her. And ironicalls, EVERY time i go in there and the owner would wait on me, she ALWAYS forgot to put all my items in my bags. But i sure as heck got charged for them. She was hoping that it would slip through the cracks and that i wouldn't notice. When i posted a complaint on Craigslist, i got 4 emails from ladies stating the very same thing happened to them. The owners whole family works there, and they dress like bums, either wearing sweat pants, or jeans. But the final straw was when the owner kept pushing and pushing and pushing me to buy a product that i had no interest in. I went in to get my normal skin cleanser and makeup, and she wouldn't shut up ! The woman will keep you in that store for a half hour. The ladies that i work with make it a point to NOT go in there when she is in there. But after we all compared notes, via the internet, AND at work, we have decided to go to Clinique. There is a Merle Norman 25 minutes from Canton, and maybe someday i will venture up that way. But I'm hoping that someone investigates this place. I am very disappointed. This studio has REALLY gave the company a bad name. It used to be so classy, and now its hillbilly haven. Oh, and the young girl that was so knowledgable, was let go. Big shock.
I wear merle norman make up and love it. Several years ago I purchase a wonderful large and tall make up mirror from one of your stores. It's frame is acrylic and stand is adjustable. It was not cheap but worth every penny. My question is, do any of the merle norman stores carry them anymore? I use this mirror not only for my make up, but also for self cath. I have lupus and it has done quite a number on my bladder. If your company does have anymore of them, please email me and let me know. I am willing to buy from any merle norman in the country, I'm that desperate. Thank you for any assistance you might find for me. You can email me @ jvictor937@aol.com.
A co-worker recently suggested that I try your Luxiva Xtra Length Mascara, as she had used it for years and loved it. I took her advice & made the purchase. I was pleased & happy that I'd found a mascara that seemed to be what I needed. Last week, I went back to get a new tube. The first thing I noticed was that the packaging had been changed...including that the tube is now slightly smaller. I didn't let the smaller quantity upset me, but wasn't impressed when I started trying to use it. The mascara comes out in clumps! ...I don't have time, when getting ready, to keep stuffing the mascara back in the tube & trying to get an even coating on the brush (ONLY) ....my co-worker says she had the same issues & ended up going elsewhere to get another mascara. I will be doing the same. I believe this is another case of 'fixing something that wasn't broke!'
I purchased the Powder Brow Pencil, which I liked very much in the beginning. As it got smaller, the tip kept breaking off in the Merle Normal eyebrow pencil sharpener and I'd have to keep sharpening it, wasting my expensive pencil. The eyebrow pencil sharpener was empty and I was being gentle, but no matter what I did, it kept breaking off again and again. These pencils cost $18 each. I feel that at that price, and with an expensive Merle Normal eyebrow pencil sharpener, they shouldn't keep breaking off. The pencil is at room temperature and is kept in a bathroom that isn't humid -- no one showers in that bathroom. If Merle Norman can't or won't fix the problem, then they should lower the price markedly.
I used to get my waterproof mascara in ebony color at Merle Norman but several years ago they changed it. They changed the brush and texture of the mascara. The old mascara would separate the lashes and make them look longer. Also I don't have curly lashes and they would stay up once I curled them and put the mascara. I loved the way my eyes looked with that mascara. The new one leaves them clumpy and they don't look long. My lashes don't stay up. It seems like the mascara is too thick and weighs them down. My sister and I would buy our mascara only at Merle Norman and when we did of course we would walk out with extra things but we don't shop there any more. We tried the new waterproof mascara several times but we were not happy with it. We have not been able to find anything like it since. I wish they would bring it back. Maybe they could sell both types of water proof mascara or just go back to the old one. Please bring the old mascara back. I felt beautiful with it on!
I have been a true regular customer of Merle Norman Products for over 7 years. I feel that the people who replied negatively do not understand how the company works. Aestiticians are not licensed through the Merle Norman Franchise, so their training is more representitive of the individual than the company. Also they have an AMAZING return policy. Many stores will not allow you to return anything at all and many more have complicated policies. Merle Norman is very lenient with their policy because they want the customer to be satified. If you ask the right questions you will be given the right product, and if it for some reason doesnt work they are more than able to help. Also this is not an arena for disgruntled employees to gripe about their personal issues. Merle Norman is fantastic and alwys has been.
I am actually writing to complement Merle Norman on their excellent customer service. With one exception, I have had great experiences at all of their boutiques. Of course it would have to be the one boutique with the offenseive sales person that I bought the wrong color from. I absolutely love the texture and coverage of the Luxiva foundation, however; the color that I had purchased turned ashey on my face. I tried mixing it with other foundations but the ashiness always came through. I contacted Merle Norman corporate and relayed my story. I let them know how long ago I had purchased the product, where I had purchased it and how much was used (1/2). I received a gift certificate in the mail for 1/2 the price of a jar of Luxiva foundation. I felt that it was more than fair. Few American companies still manufacture their product in America. Merle Norman is one the last American manufacturers. Perhaps their great customer service coupled with their silky products--enables them to remain loyal to America. My one and only negative experience with Merle Norman was cancelled out by the professionalism of Merle Norman customer service. I will continue to buy from Merle Norman as they have great product, great customer service and they are keeping dollars in America.
One last comment that I do want to add. I understand that each Merle Norman franchise is an independent business. However, I think that both the corporate and the independent business owner would benefit if a suggested retail price were listed on the Merle Norman website AND the individual Merle Norman boutiques used a sticker gun to mark the prices on the bottom of the products in the store. I worked at a high end retail store (in cosmetics) and we never had prices on the cosmetic products that were sitting out on kiosks. Once we starting putting prices on the products we sold alot more. Customers don't want to have to ask what the price of a product is. I believe that alot of sales are lost because customers are uncomfortable asking for prices. My former customers were well healed and most could have purchased regardless of price, however; as I mentioned--we moved much more product when the prices were stickered on the bottom. The younger generation, in particular, would appreciate this. Their lives run on auto-pilot. They grew up with technology--texting, tweeting, etc. I truly don't see the average 20 year old standing around to wait for a price. And it is particularly important to appeal to the youger demographic market--the potential life time customers of tomorrow. Just a little feeback to a great company. I would definitely put a suggested retail price on the main website and suggest that the individual boutiques experiment with pricing their products as well. I KNOW that this will increase sales. And we need to increase sales of companies that still provide American jobs by manufacturing in America. I suggest that Merle Norman price label and I suggest that cosmetic consumers purchase wonderful, silky smooth American made skincare and cosmetics from Merle Norman.
I worked for Merle Norman till last Sunday when my boss Sonya Dudley Txted me and said business is sold ur services r no longer needed and pick up ur things and chex Monday. U dont send someone a txt to say they dont have a job, U call them especially after u worked so hard for and tried keeping the store going. She also said I would give u time and notice when the store sold but nothing. It is hard to find jobs these days and Sonya sends me a txt to say I dont have one anymore. I mean really? U dont run a business that way or treat people that way. Im furious and hurt. So I will never shop at a Merle Norman again after the way I was treated. U call the person and thank them and say ur sorry and tell on the phone or in person she doesnt have a job. Especially dont shop in Bellevue or Dickson.
I was a Merle Norman customer many years ago and drifted away to Mary Kay. Since MK no longer makes the eyebrow pencil I was using, I went back to Merle Norman. The pencil is wonderful! So, I decided to try Merle Norman mascara. I purchased 2 Luxiva Supreme Lash Mascara. Honestly, it was terrible. Each tube lasted approximately 2 weeks. What a big disappointment for such a reputable company. I would suggest they research and improve this product. Obviously, I will no longer purchase. I was a patron at the store in Brantford Ontario, Canada and I will never utilize your company again. My daughter got her eyebrows waxed there as she has been doing for the last 4 years. This time the girl left the wax on longer than usual and ripped layers of skin off above her eyebrows! They then sent her out of the store without telling her and of course charging her! I called the next day and they told me this happens blah blah blah, taking absolutely no responsibility or apologizing. I was told to apply aloe. Three days later and no improvement I called back and was hung up on. Nice customer service! Of course it is prom this weekend, my daughter looks like a clown and your representatives hung up on me. As you can imagine I am still livid, I have taken customer service courses over the years and I can't believe your company condones this. If I treated a customer like this in my work place I would be fired. I work in a dominant female profession and be assured everyone will know what they did to my daughter and how I was treated! Perhaps if your rep had offered advice on make-up or a simple apology we would continue to be patrons but now myself, my daughters and our friends will not ever utilize your company again. How could a company, like Merle Norman, put Paraben, Methyl & Propyl into their products, then charge a fortune. All those chemicals are "proven" to be toxic & can cause cancer...good grief.
