I hired a Home Depot employee to put in a new floor & Bath tub actually he approached us. It's still sitting here three months later. Because he was fired for too many days off with us and he had a month to put it in w/ all the extra help he hired. He brought numerous people through our home for advice and work and paid himself 25.00 dollars an hour as well. This month we stayed at camp sites for cleanliness and hygiene reasons. My husband had heart failure during this bath tub installation process and we also had hundreds of pounds of debris to clean up after Home Depot's helper left with a headache and a backache and a massage therapy treatment. There is still a gapping hole in the floor for a bath tub and the vermin walk through the house from time to time I am calling the Health Department tomorrow to ask Home Depot to make it right in my home. It is a frigin nightmare that that employee with an apron on did to my home. My new worker has not scheduled as of yet to do the repair and be in and out of our way so I am contacting the Government offices to report the Home Depot associates as an unruly, unfair act to humans in their own dwellings. I recently went to the Home Depot at 172 Fulton Ave Hempstead NY and what a horrible experience it was in that store. This Home Depot was not very organized and things were not clearly labeled. First of all I received no help from the anyone to find the product and when I finally found the item and took it to the register to pay for my goods I was told they would not accept my travelers check as it was a fake and they have no way to verify if it was real or not. I said what.. and one of the supervisor response was you have to pay for the good some other way. I ask what is wrong with the travelers check. Maam understand what I am saying you either pay for it some other way or leave the stores as we (HD) cannot accept that check. He then called several individuals who pick up the check held it in the air and whispered something. I asked what is going on he then turned to me again and said we cannot accept this check in a very loud voice. This time he implied in his response that the check was no good. I asked him to speak to his supervisor and he said ok and limped away and left me standing there for more than 45 minutes. I eventually left. I would never go to that store again and I will be taking my business to Lowes.
What a nightmare! I see that I am not alone from all the poor quality, poor service comments. I finally cancelled my $2000+ window order after 3 weeks of incompetence, unprovessional, increditablly poor customer service. Looks like I made the right decision from comments of windows put in. The Home Depot system doesn't allow for follow-up for a Sales Manager that should be fired, Gil Folsom. It would be nice to say he has alzehimers and wants me to pay for his incompetant mistakes. He admitted he was overwhelmed, made mistakes and lied. The final straw was after 3 weeks of repeated mistakes he calls me at 10pm when I'm asleep and says he will take order off Hold for the 3rd time if I still pay extra but I won't get my Rush Order (I gave them 5 1/2 weeks) on time. I'm trying to sell the house and am leaving for a months so it will now be October. An Assistant Manager, Anthony was nice and said he would take care of it, but Gil said Anthony had no power. Several others (Trish, Nick Boettger, Kendall) all were nice but never called back and even though I said I didn't want to talk with Gil anymore I could not get to his Supervisor Laura. Apparently she turned it back to Gil who called me with the ultimatum at 10pm. Home Depot trust and reputation are damaged by having Gil Folsom. He should be fired unless it is Home Depot policy to "bate, frustrate, lie, and switch" and not care about Customer Service. As for me and as many as I can convince, we'll go to Lowes. A complaint will be filed with Better Busness Bureau and copies sent to Media Customer Support Offices.
First of all I bought a lot of the compact fluorescent spiral light bulbs that is suppose to last 7 years . Well they didn't and they was suppose to be guaranteed but guess what, nobody will do anything about them. So I am very upset. I am upset with them going against the BIBLE also.I don't shop there any more unless I just really need something and don't have time to go else where.
I have ben employed at HD for awhile and the store that I work at are cutting hours back and hiring more people. Now I ask you when people like me want more hours that they say the store does not have WHY HIRE MORE PEOPLE???? When I ask for more hours I am told that they have to see what they can do. They might as well say I DON`T CARE WHAT YOU WANT!!!! When the store treats a employee like this no wonder that we find another job. I know that HD says that you are for the employees but the action that I have seen says HD REALLY DOES NOT CARE AT ALL!!!!!
Complaint: Store 1249 Aug 15 2011 received price quote for GAF Marquis 30 yr 3 tab shingle in white 10 bundles from Skye (pro desk)for $29.00 ea + Tax in stock. After presenting contract to my customer I went to purchase shingles & was given Soverign 25 yr at $29.90. I told her I did not want these & she said that is what I asked for. Not only the price was now higher they were not even the same type I requested & now I would have to wait 3weeks to special order the Marquis I wanted. I told her this is no way to run a business It was like asking for a Chevy & be given a Ford. She got infuriated said she would not honor the my price quote for the 30yr shingle & walked away. When I asked the next girl for assistance in printing out the warranty on GAF web site she said she couldn't do that for me. However Allied Bldg Products was glad to give me a copy later that day. When I asked for the supervisor she said she was the supervisor. I said no, I want the store manager & she said Danny Spanalco was not in that day. Tony stepped in to carry out my order & try to get the Marquis. After several phone calls upto Aug 16 I was told white is not available Then my 2nd choice Silver Lining was not available. I called GAF & found your store trying to sell me a product that has been discontinued for over a year! What a waste of Tony's time & mine. Today Aug 17 I'm still trying to get a price for my only choice of GAF TIMBERLINE SHINGLES 11 BUNDLES & 5 CAP BUNDLES (100 LINEAR FEET) & WAS TOLD AFTER BEING ON HOLD FOR 7 MINS THAT TONY WENT TO LUNCH & I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SUPERVISOR SAID. Can you help me! From: Peter Jones Aug 17-2011 12:01
I have had the worst customer service through Home Depot in Stockton on Feather River Drive. I am in the process of remodeling my bathroom, and then my refridgerator quit working, so I had to order a new one, which I did through Home Depot. I have had to repeatedly call in to check to see if items have been delivered, instead of having them call me. I also called in one morning to get the exact measurements of a wall cabinet, and the lady in the bath and kitchen department didn't know, but gave me the number of the manufacturer so that I could call and find out, which she should have done herself. Once I got the cabinet, the hardware was missing, and they told me it would take 7-8 weeks to get it in. I already had to wait 3 weeks to get the cabinets. Once the items were in, which I had to call and confirm, and another gal in receiving told me she was looking right at them. I told her my husband would be there to pick them up, after he got there, they made him wait an hour because they couldn't find them. Now they can't even get an installer who knows what he is doing to come to my home to put in the ice maker line for the fridge. They cross schedule different installers, and make things an inconvenience, as if my time is not precious. I have never dealt with a company that is so unprofessional and the customer service is unacceptable. I feel like all this company cares about is the sale, and not the customer service. I will never return to Home Depot again after this. This place is the worst.
It should not take one hour and 45 minutes to buy a $99 item on the website. And when you try to call corporate offices, all the high mucky-mucks are well insulated. However, I feel that all you homophobes will rot in hell when the time comes. I can hardly wait to be left behind and be free of your hypocritical platitudes. If Jesus came back to earth today and landed in the US there is no question in my mind that he would register as a Democrat!!
We recently had siding put on our house. Although they did an excellent job and it looks great, up to the time of installation we had nothing but problems with everything and were given no satisfaction when we complained, other than for them to say that it is not their fault. Well then, whose fault is it?
Have a hugh project at our home (bath house and bar/sitting area)along with new deck and replacing existing deck. Normally buy from Lowes, but home depot had the materials that we liked. Wrong choice. Our project was contracted by a Professional Contractor who we have hired for many projects. He has done this all of his life, very particular, excellent contractor. Never have had a complaint about this contractor, so definitely not an issue with him. Well first they did not deliver the materials, they "thought" the materials were to be picked up. So we finally resolved that issue and had the materials delivered. Well when the materials were delivered they were the wrong materials. Doing ouside project so ordered treated material for framing of deckand building. Had to have materials returned and redelivered. Holding up contractor and our project again! Finally the project is on its way! Only to come to a screaching halt again. So Frustrating. The framing, joist for the deck, are crowing either up or down so much that the deck boards when installed would have been a roller coaster or wave ride. Called gentleman who materials were ordered from, gentleman at contractors desk. He was the only one that tried very hard to help us out. He came to take pictures when he told us that he would and agreed that he had never seen anything like that in his years with home depot. He took the pictures back to the office, wrote up a report with all of the particulars with our invoice #'s as per his store manger. At that point we wer informed by this nice person that it was out of his hands and that the store manager would now be handling the complaint. This person agreed that there was a problem with the materials and hoped that hisw manager could resolve the issue quickly since our project was now on hold again and holding up the contractor. The store manger did call and speak to my husband and said that he would get back to us soon with a reply. He did agree that there was a problem with the way the materials looked but that it was our contractors fault. He said it was not braced properly. My husband was not very happy as he use to build homes for a living and knew that the deck framing was properly installed for the short span that was in question. He told the manager that he could let our contractor know that he was not a professional contractor and did not know what he was doing. Of course our contractor was highly insulted. The manager finally did say that they would replace a few boards but the other boards needed to be taken out carefully so that he could have them back. Not going to happen. The plan was to cut the boards in pieces to get out as easy as possible and replace with new boards. Aditionally there would be no compensation for the labor that we already paid to have framing originally placed and no compenstion for the time to take out the old boards and replace with new. The manager said that in the least he would deliver us new materials. Well that has been quit a while ago and no materials and no return calls from the manager. Good customer relationship. I had heard this horror story from many people about our local home depot but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Wrong again. Should have listened to my family, friends and neighbors. Soomer or later this will come to really bite them in the butt. Can not even get a number from them for corporate to file a complaint. Really now. My husband has decided to suck it up and get our project finished since our swimming season will soon be over. NO MORE Home Depot for us.
I purchased seven sago palms, a sage tree, a rosemary tree, 500 lbs of soil, round wood edgers, for our garden, shelf liner, five large size oriental carpets, redwood deck material, lamps, lamp covers, grid lock liner for kitchens, a almond colored glass toilet, decorative iron works for garden, various pots big pots for trees. Also green board, plywood, dry wall, Price fister nickel plated faucets for sinks and kitchen & bath as well. We bought two kitchen sinks, returned one it had a slight crack in it, it was fiberglass. We have had numerous encounters with seeking advice from customer service clerks the outcome was mostly good with all the sales staff from Home Depot asking us to go to the wall phones or isle phones and ask for dept. heads that worked in that department. Then in June of 2011 We purchased a bath tub through a Home Depot employee who said he would help install it. He sold his abilities and contractors crafts to us first before we shopped. He then told us on his days off he was a licensed contractor. The bath tub was on sale for 399.99 and tax brought it too 400.00 plus dollars. The sales rep never installed the tub it still sits here in a stilted un formal area of our bathroom. It has been 3 months since his attempt to professionally install it. The Home Depot employee cut a hole in the floor and threw the old bathtub outside and left it in a common walkway of the Mobile home Park. Other residents have to walk around it. He left concrete mix and debris all over the asphalt. We tried to hose it off but the plaster got into the groves of the black asphalt and made a bigger mess. We cannot lift the bath tub we are senior citizens. And my husband got so upset at the guy because the Home Depot employee got a migraine head ache and went home after 3 hours of working the first day. The second day of work the Home depot employee twisted his back while lifting a saw blade to cut tile. And he asked us to drive him home to get a chiropractor adjustment at 1:30 in the afternoon. Also the the first day he brought in a demolition crew and tore out our vanity walls and old bathtub and left the mess for my husband to haul to the containers outside of the Park. My husband tripped over a speed bump with a 200 pound container that landed on top of him and he was bleeding and the guys took off and went home. After that my husband ended up vacuuming for 10 hours every day underneath the unit, cleaning up the old mosaic tiles and moldy wood. My husband had a heart attack after two weeks of cleaning up after the Home Depot Employee. And the third day of work the Home Depot Employee did not want to wear a plaster mask, so he had my husband do all of the cleaning, mixing, and driving to from hardware stores to get products such as blades, bolts, and wood. On one of the visits the Home Depot Employee got his truck confiscated by a CHP. Smitty's Towing and hauling of Goleta were pretending to hod a work truck for him and he demanded that we pay for his truck to be bailed out from their impound after 30 days. The Home Depot Employee was yelling at my husband to hurry up to mix the concrete because the sediment was hardening and I got mad and said who is working for who. My husband worked 31 years as a custodian of three schools in Santa Barbara and Goleta he retired and went to work part time with the schools through the police department as a crossing guard for 13 years and after working 44 years he took the summer off to repair the bathroom walls and floor and seat a new toilet and bath tub. What a night mare the contractor that worked for Home Depot took the tiolet off & on four times and set it aside because he broke a flange, and needed longer bolts and cut hte tile to thick etc.... He never put the toilet back on or the bathtub after two months we fired him and his crew. He had strangers walking through our home inspecting it. He had crews come and go after demolition. He had one guy clean a counter top off that charged eleven dollars an hour. He charged us 25.00 an hour for two months after paying him 3,000 to do nothing we fired him the new crew is coming in on Thursday they want 4,000 to take it all apart and start over. For 7.000 we could have gone on a honeymoon we are newly weds. I am just sick of the games Home Depot employees play on innocent people. I sent out our last photo shoot of the job to your corporate office hoping that someone in the customer service department responds with a letter and a check for all of our money that we put out on this job including 25.00 an hour we paid for Home Depot's Employee along with our purchases for that particular job. We have not been able to live at our home since the middle of June. We only have one restroom in the home. This is beyond a joke! Your company is about to be in a litigation suit that will curtail the hospital bill, the lengthy visits to the doctors for the rest of my husband's life, and the damage of a home. "This is not funny. One of Home Depot's Employee's made 18 telephone calls per day to the intensive care unit at Cottage hospital where the nurses had to block this person from making the EKG monitor soar and almost killing my husband while he was in ICU for four days. This is not a JOKE! Donald Wake and Vicky Wake of Santa Barbara California. 805-310-1117 Paradise Pillow Curtain & Camisole's
Rude prejudicial treatment this morning at the Burbank Ca store. I am Causian an the store had a solid Hispanic crew working and they treated me like dirt and I was polite and respectful. It is unfortunate that Hispanics are treated Turku by some but I am not one of them. I will never go in that store again and as a member of a large trading group I will do all I can to make sure no one else in my trade uses that store.
In started to fillout the questionair. I thought that it was an effort to make an evaluation of The Home Depot. I like home depot for most of my supplies, it usually clean has what I want, the stores pretty much the same in fresno CA Portland OR, And Seattle. I like store except for the DIY check out. Anyway the question were related to coupons, car insurance and other nonsense. I'm an old duck, own my own home, business, I have the same insrance type person for 30 years, I don't use coupons to eat. The point is I thought this was to be about The Home Depot. I like getting in and getting out quickly. load my truck go back to work.
I'm cutting up my home depot card. I have never paid home depot one red cent in interest. as of sept 6 2011 they have informed me and all other card holders that they are changing their policies in regard to the deferred payment plans they offer. you know the ones, do not pay for one year. As i read the letter i started to boil because the card i signed up for and the contractural agreement we both agreed to, is now being changed by THEM. So there are two choices i have. Stay as i am with Home depot changing their policies to suit themselves at will, or leave them. Guess what if a company like Home Depot has so little integrity i'm not staying. Home depot interest rates are like more savage than Piranas 28.8% per year. Im moving to Rona who offer a deferred payment for one year, unlike Home Depot, and Rona's interest rate is 19% . Bye Bye Home Depot you're the loser here not me. I'm disgusted with you're new policies and i hope a lot more people like me leave you're sinking ship. T hen and only then will you realize that you can only keep one customer at a time and when they leave they usually do not come back. Footnote, I have seven properties, how much will you lose. You do the math Home Depot, BYE.
Home depot sells mostly cheap imported products from China, Vietnam, Indonesia etc... They do sell domestic tools and other products. Also remember domestic manufactures make a substandard product for Home Depot to market at lower prices than competitors who in all likelyhood sell the top of the line products from the same manufacturer. This is common practice for many manufacturing companies to increase sales and raw materials for themselves in an attempt to control and decrease raw material costs. The downside is the substandard products with brand names marketed by Home Depot are still shit. Even much of their wood and building materials are substandard, I know I am a contractor. Going to smaller supply houses and paying alittle more gets you alot more for your money. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Home depot SUX went to get couple of things (don't ask I even said to myself y) every time I go there no one seems to want to help u I thought maybe it will change but to no avail it didn't all personal talking to each other rather then helping a customer , I went to lumber looking for help no one around closest person was 6 isles away got sick of this place real fast and decieded to leave and drive 3 xtra miles to LOWES where they like to help there customers I made a pact not to go to HD anymore, fed up with that place!!!!!!!
Sorry to all these people who feel the way they do, but to the last comment about "scum of the earth" that was a horrible way to talk about so many other people that are just trying to make a living, they are human beings too, and you never know where someone is in their life. Especially when this person uses, "Y'all", at the beginning of a sentence, and forgets to place the appropriate puncuation and capitalization. If you are going to insult a huge class of people all at once, you should at least use proper grammar. Thanks!
Its really sad to see the Quincy Il store with such poor moral. Understandable though as the store manager sits in his office and plays games on his lap top and black berry when he is at work, he misses at least one full day a week of work and has yet to work a full management day (11 hours). His days average 4 to 8 hours unlike his other managers who end up putting in 12 plus hours to keep things going.Things have really gotten bad after the last two promotions. He was the interviewer for both positions and and has placed both "gamers" (they all play online against each other)to the new positions of assistant mgr and special services mgr. Unfair hiring/promotion practices? People here are really pissed, thank goodness I'm retired and part time not destatute for a job. Its unfortunate to see such unfairness cause there are some real good people here in Quincy. Someone from corperate should really look into this cause the district level has either not been looking, has not been able to catch this poor management style, or doesnt care. I hate to think that home depot has gotten so far away from its core values that it is willing to let people earn a six figure income working 4 or 5 days a week at the most 8 hrs per day and part of the 8 hrs spent at the store are spent playing games on the computer. Easier to accept if he were a part time associate making 8 bucks an hour, but a store manager? Really? Im hoping something gets done about this, if not I do see the future of home depot is limited here in Quincy as there are other players in the home improvement industry that have proved to be better at taking care of the slackers before they get to a six figure level. Hoping someone cares.
From what I have read in the reviews how do you stay in business. One of my Employees was in the a HD store. Needed a ruler and used one in the store. Finished his shopping paid for his material. He was confronted by a store employee and was asked to come in the store. They had him sign a paper and said nothing. Now We get a letter from Palmer Reifler and Asso. that they what $250.00 and it will be dropped. Called HD and got nothing. If I do not here back from someone you will be loosing mine and many other people that belong to my Rehab group. Poor way to run a Corperation. I have told my employees that if I see one charge one my account from HD it will be out of there pocket. Case 50705893. Gary Sanders
I was recently at the home depot in North Hollywood, Ca and I saw a few of the workers go out to break in the night shift and it looked as if the were smoking weed and drinking alcohol on store property. Somebody should really do something about this. I have also talked to a few of the workers before and the smelled like weed and alcohol. It made me uncomfortable. I still go to the store though cause it is the closest one in my neighborhood. Those workers should get fired or not be allowed to go on a break together. They should also be drug tested. Just my opinion. Next time I will just call the corporate offices.
