I am a veteran of the U.S. Army. I was told that I would get a veteran's discount if I had a veterans ID card. I got all the necessary paperwork (DD214 and passport photo), submitted it and got a real nice Veteran ID card, it has my name, branch where I served, last 4 digits of my S.S. number, photo, e-mail address, home address and telephone number on it. Home Depot will not accept it because they have a special type of ID card that they prefer. Lowes (which is next door) always accepts my ID card! Good-bye Home Depot!
I paying at self service machine waiting for my credit card receipt and a Mulatto woman started scanning her mop before I was finished mumbling she had no time to wait for anyone, she had clearly infringed upon my space and was behaving like militant, she wore dark sunglasses and was very aggressively verbal towards me, any moment her hands were going to be on me if I didn't move and the Home Depot Black woman who was supposedly there to help laughed at me, it was clearly a two black women amused duo abusing a one white woman customer, I felt in extreme danger and should have called the police, I talked to the man who checks receipts with the words security on the back of his shirt, he did nothing, I will not go back to the store, my safety was violated, the Mulatto woman came out after me into the parking lot, to hell with Home Depot, never going there again, customers are out of control, I was minding my own business and did not go there to be verbally abused by another customer while a Home Depot employee looked on with glee and enjoyment, it was a racist abusive moment opportunity by two blacks women against an unprotected white woman, the store is responsible for protecting it's customers, taking my business elsewhere, I don't need this hostility after my family has spent tens of thousands in that store through the years in Long Island City New York, but never again will we ever go there, most cashiers have displayed an attitude through the years, employees are disgruntled, hey the economy stinks for all of us but when a militant verbally aggressive trouble making customer female is trying to take her anger out on another female customer and the Home Depot employee laughs in agreement with the aggressor, that stinks, it was a racist black against white scene in the heart of New York, never again will I visit that store, never and I felt my life was in danger in and out of the store, I had to hurry to my car and lock myself in from fear, the Mulatto customer was mumbling that she had no time to wait for a slow customer at the self service area because her day was not going well, she is Mulatto, with very long hair and dark glasses, she is tall, beware of her, protect yourselves, she seemed ready to raise her fists so I got away to protect myself since Home Depot had no in store or out store protection for me, lousy store, Home Depot is contributing to the country going downhill.
It took me 3 tries to special order at HD. The first was at a store where they only had one person working the Mill work desk and there were already 3 other people to place orders. The clerk said it would easily be another hour until he could help us. The second was "manned" by someone who admitted she did not know how to do special order windows - finally on the third try got the order placed. Got a call that the window was in and if I let them know when I would pick it up, they would have it ready. Wrong! I told them, got there when I said I would and it was know where in site. When it finally came out 30 minutes later, there was stuff missing. They went locate the other stuff. They came back with some of it, but not all of it, additionally one of the window's was broken and the windows were wrong! I'm done with HD
Visited the store in Cherry Hill NJ, located in 2160 Route 70 about a month ago and purchased a GE washer and dryer. The items were on back order so I had to wait a month to get them. Got it deliver about 5 pm two days ago - 10/5/11. The delivery man ran a test on both machines to make sure they operated properly and afterwards left, let me know that in about 30 minutes they would stop. After 13 minutes of the test cycle, the dryer stopped and shut down. The next day my husband tried to dry some clothes but the dryer's start button would just blink and wont work. Immediately we read the guide and call Home Depot but to our surprise, the person at the other end was very rude and hung up on us. He called several times to Home Depot and GE, but keep getting the run arounds from all end. We contacted GE who stated that Home Depot is responsible, especially since we have only had the items in our possesion for one day...after much back and forth.. thru an automated service we were able to make an appt for a GE tech to come out, thankfully turn around time was only the next morning. When the tech came out this morning & ran several test, he determined that the computer system is damage and we need a new dryer... Again, back to calling Home Depot.. Well, finally got a hold of the store manager, Ed Mecco who told us he would take care of it, we have waited all day and guess what.. no call from the store manager... The MOD of the store Nick D. was who contacted my husband after several hours and again it was stated they would call back. Well, neatless to say, I am extremely upset and here I am leaving this comment for Home Depot cause their customer service completely sucks.. They are quick to make a sale but have no expertise when it come to customer service. I have once again contacted the store, the MOD Nick D. was apologetic for the running around and for their rude ass staff but I am extremely upset at this point and an apology has yet to get me my dryer. The store staff are liars, one had inform my husband that the manager had left for the day at about 2:30 pm. When I called an hour later I was told that they were at a meeting all day..Trully people, what the hell is the hold up... why they can't scheduled someone to come out, deliver a new one and take the one at home...I have tried to contact the customer care line in Atlanta... They are closed for a few hours... HOME DEPOT COMPLETELY SUCKS... just what do one have to noadays for customer service...let see, should I contact the Media????
I visited your store in Zephyrhills, FL on 10/03/2011 and made a purchase. At the checkout i displayed my VA Card and ask for a discount. Very rudely the woman told me that Home Depot no linger gives a Veteran Discount. I am furious that your store no longer has any respect for the American Veteran, however, you can support the Homesexual and Lesbian community. Let me assure you that since i use the Veteran Hospital for my medical care i am in contact with many Veterans on a regular basis and I will be sure to inform each of your decission. I am presently having radiation treatment which takes me to the hospital daily. You treatment of the American Veteran will get a lot of exposure. My discount would have amounted to $3.00, a small price for your store to pay instead of all the bad publicity. I visited Lowe's Home Improvement on 10/01/2011 and received a Veteran Discount. Guess which store I will visit in the future. Good By Homo Deepot you are on the way out.
I work for Home Depot, 7085 Brockville. Trust me management is poor there be aware if your looking for work. Most of the people who work there are great but your noticing more and more new faces. Reason being they can't seem to keep staff. In a 4 week period store 7085 lost around 18 people due to poor management. They are contradicting, they have a lot of attitude toward those they may not like so much. I know HR, scheduling, SM, ASM's and so forth are not someone you want to have to deal with in every day life and unfortunately because they are at the top these are the people that you HAVE to deal with. I wish head office would catch wind of how bad this store is run and how bad management is and do something about this. I like my job and I like what I do but if I have to work for this management team much longer I may just not be working there any more. I am only one person speaking my mind and I am sure there is others. Just look at the amount of people who have already complained and think of the amount of people who have not complained. Management needs to change their attitude and the way they run their store. If it was up to me I would fire them all.
Home Depot actually has a Culture of Deception at least through upper management. Their plan is to "mitigate all damages to reduce the cost of the Home Depot error" through any means possible. My wife and I were lied to from a basic employee, and lied to from a District Service Manager concerning the installation of a marble countertop. They refused to prove that it met the specifications of the Marble Institute guidelines (something they indicated they followed). Upon measuring against these Marble Institute specifications by a independent source, the countertop was outside of specifications. There was a 3/16 inch drop in the thickness that was visual (Marble says no more than 1/8 maximum). One of the suggestions was to come in and tilt the existing level countertop "so that the visual drop in thickness was not so apparent"..deeply thought out, no?
FEATHER RIVER DOORS...Don't buy. They do not standby their doors. Got a half moon door and glue running out of the sides and glass... I asked FR to come out to check it out they said NO... stated they do not have to...They wanted me to just fix it myself...They did not care about a warranty, they were not coming out...The door was ordered by someone else but did not want it...I saw it liked it brought it.. They then said that I really don't have a warranty ,because I was not the original one who ordered the door...HomeDepot was NO HELP....They let Feather River just do their own thing...UR needs to DROP this company their are other door companies....I still have that ugly door on my house....I need help...
As a Native American I have been shopping at HOME DEPOT for years spending at least 5k a year. Of all the things I bought; once in a while I have to return something, and cant find the receipt, but have the card that I purchased the item with. I was turned away every time from returning the item because I did not have a drivers license or STATE ISSUED ID. In a recent instance I went to purchase a used machine from their tool department for @$200. I proceeded to pay for it; the clerk asked me for personal information such as date of birth;Social Security number, and driver license or State ID. I conveyed to him that it was absurd to ask me for such personal information, and that I have none of the above; all I have & need is my Native American Credential card. After @ 15 minuted of fiddling around with their data entry system; The clerk stated that he could not sell me the item unless I provided what they asked for. Furious; I left, and called their corporate office and spoke to a rep. few minutes later. It has been a week and a half so far and the issue still has not been resolved. Their ID policy descriminates against Native Americans, and all that do not possess a State issued drivers license or other ID. This type of crime is committed by many corporations, and must be stopped.
The EastMeadow store is Horrible! Ordered carpeting, the guy to measure was supposed to show between 3-5pm. Called at 6pm he's running late, waited till 8pm had to call him to find out he's on the way! Told the JERK to forget the order. Tried to call the store several times( NO answer) about my refund for the 38.00 measuring charge. Went to the store and the clods at customer service wouldn't refund my money! NEVER-EVER go to HD for any reason!! Will write a letter to corporate HQ but figure the big shots there are the Biggest A-holes of all!
You people are really sad !!!! Home depot does provide customer friendly service everyone I have ever been to has helped me in every way possible includiing delivering my washer and dryer plus hauling away my old one !
I have shopped the Depot for many years but recently they really went above and beyond for me. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene when everyone was without power, I desperately searched every store in the area for a generator. I had two children in the house who both were on medication that needed to be refrigerated, a sick baby that needed a nebulizer every four hours to help him breathe, and a 87-year-old father-in-law with a chronic illness living in the house. All I wanted was a generator to run my refrigerator and freezer and son's nebulizer, and nobody had anything. I went into the Whitehall Pennsylvania Home Depot and was told that they were receiving four generators within the next 2-3 hours from another store, and if I wanted to wait I could get one. After waiting two hours for a generator, I was told that a SNAFU had occured at the other store and the generators had been sold there. I was devastated. One of the employees, a complete stranger to me, offered to lend me his generator, drove home to get it for me, and put it in my car fo me. His kindness really helped my family out. I want to thank everyone who tried to help me at Home Depot after the hurricane. I will continue to shop there for a long time to come!
Will no longer deal with Home Depot. No help in the departments of plumbing and mill works the last 2 times I was there. Ignored by the sales people that were there. Customer service was almost as bad. Hate to say it but at Lowes there were 3 Associates in MillWorks ready to help.
I went to HomeDepot in Norwalk, CT on 8/30/11 to custom order windows. A gentleman at the desk help me work a quote. I had a competitors coupon, which he said cannot be used that day, since there already was a coupon around, but asked me to come back on 9/1/11 when Andersen will have a special promotion and I will be able to use the coupon then. On 9/1/11, ordered the coupon, and at the time to pay, the very rude lady (Lavern Willaby) said cannot be used. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager Trevor Meinke started the conversation very aggressively like he was speaking to a 3rd grader and in the background Lavern Willaby started laughing and making comments. Trevor in the whole conversation was extremely rude and dismissive in nature. The whole scene became an embarrassment to the customer whose only fault was he was trying to give Home Depot some business... I will call and email the corporate and see if changes anything.
I am working for Home Depot as installer. Finish more than five jobs two month ago and still didn't get paid. The office I am working for is located in New Jersey and called "Preferred Contractors" and they are working in NY, NJ and Manhattan also. I will have to take legal actions against this company.

I purchased a refrigerator from the Home Depot. It worked for a month and all of my food spoiled. I called the Oxford, AL location and they have not returned my call---it has been almost 4 months of eating out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ugh
Home Depot has become the nations number one (1) top corporate train wreck. (along with Walmart) I am 20 year licensed general contractor with over 30 years experience. The under paid employees have little or NO knowledge, and the so called help they do offer is terrible. It is common knowledge that under paid people do not care. The products have become border line disposable. Mostly poor junk from China. I do not have the time, nor the patience here to continue with. I would suggest shop elsewhere, but home depot killed that. I am writing this because of yet another very bad experience. Missing parts, poor customer service, and a delay that no one should have to put up with. Proof this country is done.
What a disgrace! Every time I've gone in the Green Bay, WI store in Bellevue, they have dead house plants EVERYWHERE in the inside plant area. I wanted to check out the orchids a month ago, & dead plants of all kinds were all over the place. I was sick of trying to pick out one that might have a chance to live. I left, & told an associate about the problem. All they said was that someone comes in on Monday & cleans it up. Just last week I decided to find a plant there again. The problem was absolutely the same, & I walked out, & it was Monday evening this time. A family member works at a Home Depot in another state. I will definitely be asking if the same care is taken at her location.
