Inverted Forks
I purchased the Harley Davidson Inverted Forks a few years ago and have had nothing but problems with the seals. The forks have approximately 15000 miles on them and have leaked since 3,000 miles. The leaky forks cause a cupped front tire and cost 3 to 4 hundred dollars to repair. The repairs haven't worked and I already need a third repair. I am in the process of getting the stock forks installed.
Poor customer service
I have written two letters of complaint and recieved one very lazy and inappropriate response from their so called customer service. HD built a bad bike and refused to fix the problem. Destroyes compensator plates at 7000 miles, destroyed cam and lifters at 17,000 miles and again the lifters went out at 18,000. Ya think itmight mot be opoiliong? The factory solution was to merely replace the woprn parts. This problem seriously interferred with a 11,300 mile 46day tripand HD inmores me. Thjey need to look ouit for a You Yube video i am editing that explains just why buying a Harley is such a bad idea. I am now riding my 5th HD and never more will i buy or recommend one. Watch for the video. It will be called What Harley and the Wizard of Oz have in common or, "Don't look behind the curtain".
hourly rate
Harley Davidson in Nashua N,H is charging you 75-100 dollars per hour to service your bike,ok right. Well they pay my family member 12 dollars per hour who is young but loaded to the gills with schooling and certification. Nice profit margin! He has now giving his two weeks to do framing cause he has a family to support. I know the going pay rate for some one such as him is 20-25 per hour. He loves Harley bikes and stuck it out with them as long as he could, Its his dream job. This is why America is the way it is kid goes to school and still gets crapped on. Harley should really look into this because charging someone $75-100 and paying out $12 to there mechanic is robbery both ways to the customer and the employee. Harley will not get my business again.
not impressed
recently i became aware of a factory known defect regarding the cam chain tensioners in the twin cam models.as a dedicated harley rider since 1980 i find the companys lack of respect for us is downright negligible.why no recall ?or at least help us with the cost of the upgrade.i've checked mine so far so good and have switched to synthetic oil as recommended.glad i was made aware of the problem but it wasn't made by anybody working for harley davidson!

I have owned nothing but Harley four the last 25 years. And during that time have been seeing harley going more and more out of our country. Now It has come to my understanding we are going to support Indea and outsource more work. I do know several people that work at harley and I come to find out the whole or majority of the I.T. DEPARTMENT is get axed. this is one lousy way of thanking Americans for making harley what it is today. Im sure eather you wont read or even agnolig this but if you do my Harleys up for sale and my next bike will be a polaris victoy. they are by far more of a American Co. than what you have become. That guy ya hired from Johnson controls ( the one they call the hatchit man has done his job you should be proud)
Have a 2004 Heritage Classic with 50457 miles on the speedometer. I have always taken care of the bike and it has never lost a drop of oil. Last week took it to High Desert Harley Davidson located in Meridian, Idaho to see what I might be offered as a trade in value As they checked the harley out I was asked what bike I was going to buy. I told them I was looking at a Triumph speed triple located in Caldwell, Idaho at Birds of Prey Motorsports, also owned by High Desert Harley Davidson. Immediately I was told it would cost nearly $900 dollars to repair an oil leak they had found before talk of a trade would happen. again, there are no oil leaks and the oil is at the full mark on the stick. Harley seems to have forgotten that they are not the only motorcycle to be bought in this country. I am done with the Harley Davidson Brand
I love all my Harley Gear I get from Harley even though a little over priced. I got a pair or dress boots (The first pair) I have 2 pairs of riding boots that fit just fine. The dress boots though they are my size and the left one fits just find the right one feels big. Is there something to be done to get this fixed? I believe these boots are discontinued. Thanks.
I am very disappointed to say the least in a recent purchase from New Orleans Harley-Davidson. I purchased a 2007 that only had 3100 miles and I was told it was a one owner. Come to find out it was a Two 2 owner bike. The bike was shipped to me on an open trailor, They told me it would be shipped in an enclosed one. When the bike arrived, the bike was filthy, rust on the spokes and on the front rim.Dirty all over as if just went down a dirt and grimy road. (Apparently it had been sitting out in the weather and not cared for by the Dealer also. The pipes had scratches and the chrome guards were terrible. I sspoke to the salesman ( which I dont fault) and he said he would get me some more guards which he did. When I checked the oil. it was overfilled and had water and other debri in it. Looked like chocolate milk with white cream in it. I have taken pictures and currently seeking legal advice although Im not the type .They also charged me the destination charge like it was a new bike. This was wrong. I paid too much for the bike, that was not the bike that was portrayed. You corporate managers should put a tighter leash on your franchise dealers according to what Im reading in this sector. I would not give any stars for this but the site has a one star minimum. I cant give any more details since I am in the process of legal advice but this bike was clearly MIS-Advertised and Mis-represented . No Manager ever called me about this bike, they put it off on a young inexperienced salesperson.
Very desappointed with Caliente Harley Davidson in San Antoinio,TX.Got recall notice for my FXDL 2009, gas cap, took the bike in on 10/02/12, service dept advice to wait in lobby that it would not take more than 5 minutes to fix, waited 5, 10, 15,20 minutes and I was call to go to the service area, and was advice computers were down could not do the repair, I advice service Dept to write down the vin# and imput at a later time, also advice that I could leave the bike till the afternoon and will pick it up at a later time, the reply was we do not know when is going to get fix, I just went home with a sense that Caliente Harley did not want to assist with the recall notice. Then I advice service dept to check my gas tank that I thought it was loose, no help there either. And I might know the reason, the motorcycle was purchased at Gruene Harley TX.I would not give then not even 1 star.
Dear sir, Ref. our VIN No. MEG1GV4N3CN329325 We purchased SUPER GLIDE CUSTOM from M/s. Sterling Mobikes, Chandigarh (INDIA)on 23-08-12 & have run 1200 Km till date. Today in the morning when the undersigned was driving the bike, it suddenly started giving missing problem & the bike stopped on the road. We then called Mr. Akhilesh Sharma (Service Manager) & he promptly gave 2-3 tips but the bike didn’t start. We then requested him to visit our place at Saharanpur & get the problem resolved & he replied that he shall be coming with his team to our place ON CHARGEABLE BASIS. We were left with no option & agreed to their demand. He came PROMPLY with his team & arrived our place today evening & he and his team tried their level best to rectify the problem but couldn’t do. He then urged us to tow the bike to the workshop for further R&D and they shall be towing the vehicle tomorrow to the workshop. WE AT PRESENT ARE VERY SURPRISED & HUMILATED FROM THE WHOLE INSTANCE & NEVER EXPECTED THIS FROM A COMPANY LIKE HARLEY DAVIDSON WHO MANUFACTURES SUCH LOW QUALITY BIKES THAT START GIVING PROBLEM ONLY AFTER A MONTH & INSTEAD OF RESPECTING THEIR CUSTOMERS URGED TO REPAIR THE FAULT ON CHARGEABLE BASIS FOR NO FAULT OF OURS NEVERLETH TO MENTION THAT THE BIKE IS UNDER WARRANTY PERIOD.
I am writing in regards to the extended warranty and what it is supposed to cover. My wife and I were heading to the beach on mu Ultra Classic, when the sprocket holding the belt shears off and I had my my serviced at 26,000 miles and it now has 36,000 miles and the Carolina Coast Harley Dealer says I have to fork out $915.00. I only want to know is this correct or am I being railroaded? I may go to Honda next and be done with what I thought was Americas bike company.
I need feed backs on 2012 Ultra Classic.. It runs like shit..no power on take off..sluggish...stalls..Replace voltage regulator ( factory recall) it runs worst..they said it was the heat management...was shut off..now the bike is running real hot..the heat coming from the engine is unbearable...it seems the model is the problem...have a 2005 Road King and a 56 Pandhead..never a problem with this 2 babies...Please Advice..??
I am actually surprised by all the negative comments. I've purchased two Harley Davidson's in the last year (an '12 Ultra Limited and a "12 Softail Classic) for me an my wife, respectively. The bikes have run flawlessley. They are gorgeous. I've already put more than 15,000 miles on the Ultra this year. It has a Stage One upgrade with Screaming Eagle pipes installed by H-D. They also did the download. They work great. The only issues we've had mechanically is that the cigaretted lighter burned out on the Ultra (replaced in 1/2 hour at no charge from a by a dealer in North Carolina) and a custom Willie G. aif filter cover would not stay on (design flaw - don't buy this custom cover.) It took us a while to get my wife's bike lowered to the correct height for her (she's 5' 1") but that was just trial and error. We have received so much free gear I lost track. Sorry - I have no regrets regarding my bike. I've ridden it through wind, rain, hail, and even snow with no problem. I've put 1400 miles on in in 2.5 days without a glitch. In the winter, all I saw riding down the cold interstates were big-frame Harleys like my own. H-D must be doing something right, if the the majority of year-round riders ride the bike chrome American bike. I'm sorry the other posters had such a terrible experience, but mine, and the experience of the other Harley riders in my club, has been nothing but positive.
Steer clear of HD of the Woodlands Tx. and Texan HD Conroe Tx.!! Especially if you are a woman who rides her own motorcycle!! I purchased my 2010 Fatboy Lo new from the HD of the Woodlands. At the time I had them install my Vance and Hines exhaust system. The service manager at the time told me that I DID NOT NEED A TUNER. This being my first bike I trusted him and they did not install the tuner. A month later I went to their sister store with my then husband where he purchased a motorcycle. Their service advisor told me that I DID need a download and proceeded to do the wrong one for the exhaust I had. Again I didn't know better and trusted them. I have never felt like my bike had the power it should but having nothing to base it on didn't say anything. This was in 2010. In April I noticed a vibration after having Texan HD install new handlebars. They had left the switch housing loose so I took it back to them to make sure they had not left anything else loose. They replaced my front tire - under warranty - said it was cupped. Delivered it to me and when I rode it it had a horrible wobble and vibration. They had my bike 5 different times for this vibration and finally balanced my tire and it seemed better so I took it on a road trip to Ga. It was a horrible ride due to? Yeah vibration. I took it to the guys at Atlanta HD who after taking it for a ride said it was engine related. They found the problem and fixed it. Afterwards they tell me there is still a vibration due to the fact that I never had a tuner after they (woodlands) installed the exhaust and that the download Texan performed was generic and for tips or mufflers not a complete system. I called Texan and told them what was going on andasked them why they had not done a tuner. I was told by Tree ( service manager) that he wasn't SM at the time but he knows that sometimes when people are told the price they don't do it. ????? This coming from a guy who swares he rode my bike and felt no vibration. I spoke to the GM there and after explaining the situation told him I felt like they were responsible and should pay part if not all of the cost to get my bike right. After telling me he would see what he could do and make some calls he has NEVER gotten back with me and will not answer or return my calls. I took my case to The Woodlands and after telling Chad the GM and Frank the SM my story was told that he (chad) was going to look up the original write up because they never install an exhaust system without a tuner and he didn't know why it wasnt done. He has yet to get back to me and this was before Labor Day. Neither store or GM will answer or return my calls now. I have called HD corp. and was even told by them that exhaust systems are not installed without a tuner. Texan did refund the cost of the download as well they should as it was the wrong download. I was told that I should be satisfied with that. I am not. My bike has never ran right and who knows the residual effects this will have. As I said I feel like these two stores are responsible and should pay. Harley says they are individual businesses and they cannot make them do anything for me. Apparently they think I will just go away if they ignore me. I am disgusted with HD and their handling of this ridiculous situation. I guess all you need anymore are tattoos and an I don't give a s**t attitude to work for them.
I have a 09 Electra Glide Classic of which I purchased new. I have lost out on numerous rides due to my bike breaking down. I keep loosing power and reliability. I just spent 6 hours driving from New York to Maine driving at 45 mph all the way. Do you know what it's like riding with others that keep telling you to dump the Harley and get a real bike....... I won't and hopefully the Harley shop that told me they would pick it up today and didn't will have a really good excuse. I was suppose to go on a cancer ride for one of our policemen in New Hampshire tomorrow. I guess that's not going to happen now. Oh yes guess out of 500+ bikes are Harley's . You guessed it most of them. Signed- MAHell
Okoboji Harley-Davidson at 1005 Eastview Ave Okoboji, Iowa 51355 is nothing but a front using the Harley Davidson Logo and building to rip people off. These people do not know what they are doing other than screwing things up and charging the customer for their mistakes. I want this particular outlet to be known for improper business conduct and unprofessional work. This outlet is a horrible representation for the greatest machine ever made, Harely Davidson motorcycles!!!!! This business could not fix my scwhinn bicycle - PATHETIC...
Ibought a 2008 110 CVO secramen eagle ultra class ele guild new in 2008 bought h/d contract and the esp contract had only the h/d dealer to work on it no one ele they do the oil change to and all the service becasue this was to keep it in the contract warrne promblem get to hot told to change pipe and air clean done that got part from dealer and they put them on about 15000 mi oil; pump went out but I told them doing all service the oil press low and no [power and noises bike apart in h/d dealer told to go up on cams and put in liffters push rods so they got the parts put in under warrey 38000 mi engine blows vale bent they said they donot know why this happen call warry /now they said warreny is no good because of the cams but they are the dealer for h/d so how can this be by the way the bike has been in the shop sine 8-12-12 and this is 9-12-12 so if you have a h/d or esp CONTRACT it must be no good but they took the money for this and you can not get a asw from noone they just want to play the blamgame
I chose 1 star cause there wasn't a option for no stars. Avoid irvine Harley due to lack of customer service, they will give you false information to get you through the door. After your purchase there is no follow up to make sure you are satisfied. They told me the bike I ordered came in and when I got there it was gold not matte black, I asked for mid controls when they dropped it off I realized they were forward. They took the bike back which was a inconvenience cause I got dropped off and had no car thinking I was going to be able to ride home. They wouldn't refund me for the forward controls cause they cost extra . I called them to see if they would refund the money and they said they would call me, they never did I even called 5 days straight still no call back. So I asked them since they wouldn't refund me if they could give me a small discount on a fairing, they said they would call me back with a answer but they never did so I gave up. Avoid Kurt and Daniel due to their lack of answers and customer service all they want is your money. It'd unfortunate do to the fact I have slot of friends on the market looking for new harleys but I will not redder them to irvine, 1 already chose not to and went to redding ca. He had way better of a experience than I did they hooked him up. I wish I would of had the same experience!
I was Involved I an accident (2008 Road Glide)(cage full of teenage girls pulled out in front of me while I was cruising, slammed into the side of her car kept the bike vertical ) Had Bike taken to my "FRIENDS" at Emerald City Harley to have it looked at for repairs. My insurance company estimated repairs at $12,500 (fair market valued at $15,000) her insurance company wanted to total it, But they were to late because the frame was "ALREADY" being stamped. At that time they said it would ship to my "FRIENDS" the following Monday, Than something happened that the frame was than supposed to arrive on the 17th of August, but wait, something else happened and than it was supposed to ship on the 4th of September, but wait it didn't show up by Friday the 7th of September, dealer called AGAIN and wait for it ... here it comes.... now its back ordered until the 24th of September. I am really PISSED OFF With WHOM i don't know . I waited most of my adult life to buy a HARLEY ... now I am pissed I cant get a straight answer either from my FRIENDS or HARLEY don't know who is lying and who is being told stories (except me) really irritated with Harley in general.
i wanted to drop you a line to tell you about a great Harley Dealer. Independence harley-davidson in college sation, Texas Jim booth, and Blake lipscomb went the extra mile to gain a new customer. there was a slight misunderstanding on a service deal. instead of brushing me off, they made sure that they took this misunderstanding and righted it way beyond what any other dealer would have done. Their comunication with me was unmatched, and they righted the wrong at their own expense. I have always been treted like Royalty in their store, and cant say enough about how they go the extra mile at every opportunity they have. Please share this with all involved. I have been a Loyal Harley Rider, with the last 31 years, and 16 Harley later. Harley Only.
