THIS RUDE CASHIER (Stateline rd MS) ..... After i paid for all i had in my cart, there was a pair of shoes that my baby REALLY needs but the price sticker came off somewhere in the cart and they didnt want it to sell it to me, after arguing with the cashier for about 5min she decided not call any supervisor because she said she could loose her job and it will take them 24hours before they can check the price again but i think that she was so ready to leave her shift that closed her chash register and told me in a rude way "bye mam" swung my shoes in the air , signal for me to go!!!!! i was still standing there with my 2 babies waiting on her response , she turned her back at me and left me there standing at the register RUDE attitude !!! and as much as I shoppe in Goodwill every week and as much as I donate every month this issue of me begging her and wanting to buy those shoes made me realize that i reather throw my donations to the curve and not give it to them...Yacelly wade
ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT GOODWILL..yes I agree, spreading the word on here is godd..but UNFORTUNATELY it does ZERO good to actually get anything done with changing how Goodwill Industries runs their modern day "slave shops" legally..First off anytime you see those overpriced locked up knock off handbags next to the register for sale? DO SOMETHING! Call your STATE DEPT,tell the secretary you want to report counterfeit goods being sold..and THEY WILL FINE GOODWILL STORES and CONFISCATE these knock off items..believe me,I know,I've done it..also write your congressman, the IRS,your local news,WHOEVER you need to in order to expose these FRAUDS..they don't do shit for community, pay millions to open brand new big box stores, and can LEGALLY pay subminimum wages to "documented" disabled employees who don't perform according to production standards..all because of their "501c(3) tax exempt status..THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!..I used to work for Goodwill in Myrtle Beach,SC..and I've done a lot of research on the company..this is not the local small thrift store that Goodwill used to be..1 store in Myrtle Beach,#251,makes over 2MILLION IN SALES EVERY YEAR….and that's only one store..
I repeatedly asked Goodwill for assistance to obtain donated goods tax credit, and received a curt brush off. My response is below: Unfortunately, your response is neither helpful nor honest - and I don't like the brush off to IRS. BUT I will, as you urge, contact IRS to make a complaint that Goodwill is ostensibly duping donors into making donations - as "charitable donations" - without honestly, ethically, or practically offerring any valid charitable recognition (regardless of montary value) for donations accepted, by failing to provide useable guidance to donors on obtaining credit for charitable donations made to Goodwill. Further, I will advise the NC Department of the Secretary of State's Office about Goodwill's apparent policy of "accepting donated goods for no charitable credit" and ask for clarification of this practice as a matter of fair and legal business practice by a registered charitable organization. I had hoped Goodwill's reputation for trusted community service and donor stewardship would have yielded a donor-helpful rather than donor-brush off response, but I will leave it to federal or state regulators to determine how well or poorly Goodwill is living up to its obligations under the applicable laws.
I don't like what I'm witnessing on the "front" shelves of Goodwill in the Central TX area. It appears this not-for-profit is pushing the sale of absolute crap that was manufactured in China. Every customer that walks in the door is subjected to this junk. The donated items, which have taken a back seat to China's crap, have been relocated to the farthest corner of the store. I waltz right past the crap and walk directly to the donated items. I will never purchase any item from Goodwill that reflects: Made In China. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I'd rate Goodwill a -10 if I had the option. Wake up!
I'm not impressed with Goodwill. The goodwill in my town has EVERY item over priced. I bought a shirt for 3.99. Then I went down the street to a local thrift store and found the exact same shirt for 1.99!!! I went back to goodwill to get my money back, because I spent my birthday cash on this shirt. I got there and they told me that it states clearly on the receipt that they cannot give cash refunds!!! I feel as though they need to post this information on a sign, not on the receipt that you get AFTER you buy the item!!
I shop at my local Goodwill almost everyday and have been doing so for the past 4 years. Just this weekend I picked up a used pc game that was seven years old. It was in perfect conditionand had all the installation discs with it. All games are listed USD 2.50 as most DVDs and media of that type in the store are. I take it to the counter to check out but there is no price on it do the sales clerk calls the manager. She tells the manager that it has six discs/ six games. I tell the clerk the discs are one game because it takes all of them to install it on the pc. At first she prices it USD 8.00 then after my explanation the manager brings the price down to USD 5.00. I then decide to just give up and purchase the game. When I get home I look to see how much I could have gotten it new. Surprisingly I could have gotten it new for USD 9.00. After seeing this I felt cheated. The game should have only been 2.50 but was clearly over priced. I don't Believe I will ever shop at Goodwill again because of their dishonesty.
A plastic bin 6 x 12, used, for ten dollars!!!!!! REALLY Goodwill. You say nonprofit so what do you call that. The prices for used items are ridiculous. GoodwiLL is not goodwill at all!!!!!!!! LOWER YOUR PRICES!
we were trying to buy 6 coffee cups. The sign said cups without tags 49 cents. we found 6 matching cups they had no tags so we took them to the register, thought a simple purchase. this is the Everett Mall store in Everett, WA. The man looked at the cups looking for a tag, we told him the sign said 49 cents without tags. He then accused us of removing the tags, we got upset of course we never removed 6 tags please. We are upset because of accusing us and everyone now looking at us. This guy then changed his story and said "someone" removed the tags, then he said we must have got them out of a box set. He took 1 cup and off he went we watched him for 10 minutes up and down each aisle over and over and over. We thought what is he doing?? we asked one of the other cashiers to please call the manager. The manager showed up and we explained the situation (cashier still running around store) manager said no he did not accuse you of removing tags. amazing.. manager was not there but knows what he said? so now we are liars also...then the cashier came back and said I can not find the box but these are not 49 cents,I asked him why is he fighting over 49 cents? he then said DO YOU KNOW WHERE THIS MONEY GOES? I said why are you taking this so personal? this isn't your store..do you know where this stuff comes from? us..we donate a lot to goodwill, then he stormed off leaving us with the cups and no cashier, and now it has been 20 minutes. we went to a different check stand and paid for the cups. we would have gladly paid 99 cents even 1.99 per cup because we liked the cup but not when we are accused of removing tags, removing cups from box sets, and telling lies..i looked at our taxes we donated $1,645 of merchandise and cash last year. We no longer will donate anything and instead will donate to St Vincent De Paul. This was the last straw
I have had fairly good experience with Goodwill stores in the St. Louis area. I both donate and make purchases from Goodwill. The prices are VERY reasonable. Tops & pants $3, shorts $2 books are usually .50 cents. Depending on what location I go to some have more variety and nicer and more name brand items. My only real complaint was when I tried to return a top and they told me it couldn't be returned because it wasn't on the receipt even though I knew it was the correct receipt. It was their mistake for ringing up the wrong thing, but I was the one who had to face the consequences. This same employee has been somewhat rude at times. Everyone else has been helpful. I will continue to purchase from Goodwill. I don't think all of Goodwill should be judged by one bad egg. If that was the case many establishments wouldn't exist.
I HAVE HEARD BY SEVERAL PEOPLE ABOUT BRAZEN THEIVERY OF GOOD COSTUME AND REAL GOLD AND PRECIOUS JEWERLY BEING REMOVED FROM DONATIONS BEFORE EVER BEING DISPLAYED AND SOLD AT ANTIQUE SHOWS AND AUCTIONS AND MONIES EARNED SPLIT AMONGST STORE MANAGER IN DEWITT AND HER FRONT WOMEN AN ALCHOLIC AND HER AA BUDDIES. THEY AREN'T IN THE LEAST ASHAMED OF THIS BEHAVIOR. THE WOMAN SELLING THE JEWELERY'S SON STOLE A BUNCH OF IT AND SHE CLAIMED IT ON HER HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE AS PERSONAL JEWELERY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME! yOU CAN'T TELL ME GOODWILL INDUSTRIES DOES NOT KNOW OF THIS WIDE SPREAD OPEN CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND THESE PEOPLE PROSECUTED.
I am amazed that Goodwill industries say they do not read any comments posted but are not ashamed of what their stores and employees are doing to line their own pockets and have no shame about bragging of profits they are stealing daily. I think it should be publized in every state. The theft of merchandise intended to help families struggling to make ends meet are not receiving anything while this Corporation is given a license to steal. If only there was a way to make them accountable it would let many honest individuals feel alot better. I hope someone out there has a suggestion to enlighten the public and stop the criminal actions of Goodwill employees and their friends. Please Post any viable solutions as I gather from reading other comments we all feel strongly about policies enacted by this so called CHARITY...........................
Here's what I got a real serious problem with, when it comes to goodwill. They have a special section in there store with a cake the nice items and way over charge compared to the other items that are not so nice where it makes it impossible for poor people to go in and purchase nice to thingst they couldnt fford because rich people were nice enough to don.at So why is good will overcharging for name brands? Stuff is given to goodwill they turn around they charge ????way more for name brand so poor people can't afford it Something very bizaar about good will overcharging poor folks. I bet we find they're head executives have been smuggling thousands of dollars to an off shore account . not to mention I see a lot of goodwill stores I see hardly any training centers. so where's all these people working that they're supposedly training in for jobs? I seen whole lot of doors 1 job training center the math just doesn't work. Somehow there laundeing that money
When I was little, I always loved to see the tons of radical junk daddy would pile up in our cart, and no matter what it was almost always less than ten dollars. I loved the kids' section, filled with tons of fun toys, and the book section was overflowing. Today, however, there is a very small toy section, and most of these damn "toys" are puzzles or board games with missing pieces. The book section is mixed with the tapes, cds, dvds, and cassettes, which are all overpriced as well. If you go to Goodwill, their tapes are $2.99. Try Jonnet Flea Market and the most you'll be charged for a tape is two bucks, most commonly .50, at the very least a quarter or if they're desperate to get rid of it, a dime. All the books at Goodwill are either old and falling apart, biographies on people no one cares about, cook books, or really big ones that come in a set, of which the Goodwill employees must think is rare or something, since they decide ten dollars is a good price for 5 books in a case. And all the cute little junk you'll find lying around the store, like a small stamp pad or an epic ribbon, they'll charge a dollar. Anything you find that doesn't have a price, like something a kid came in and dropped from their hat, is fifteen cents if it's the size of a dime, 50 cents otherwise. I used to love Goodwill. Now, I don't see anything worth buying there.
Prices are ridiculous here in West Monroe, Louisiana. They price everything at $3.99 and up, whether the clothing is stained or torn up. I have seen some t shirts up towards $20.00. Used Bras and intimates $4.00 and up. Goodwill is nothing but a Greed for Profit organization. Who are you really helping? hmmmmm? Yourself!
I went to goodwill the other day while on my vacation in central Florida when I walked in they were announcing the discounts they offer (student, and senior) so obviously I asked about a military discount. They looked at me like I was an idiot for asking for such discount, although in my oppinon if they can offer those discounts they should certainly be able to offer a military discount as well. Really disappointed with goodwill for that and i have donated hundreds of dollars in goods to them in the past 6 months, I will be reevaluating who I donate to in the future.
i worked at goodwill industries at 1235 south elm eugne street in greensboro i was refered by a vocational rehbilitation counselor name of judy lockhart after 34 days the vr counselor said i need to be there for 30 days i said not interested they were going to put me in house keeping scrubbing toilets and have me take work adjustment classes boring the lunch money program was a joke $1.50 a/day i made only $335.10 after 34 days and the 51.00 lunch money vocational rehabilitation $386.10 total that was a joke it is a shelterd workshop they run subminimum wages are a joke they should end the sheltered wokshop program for good it is modern day slavery
I purchased a Keurig B70 coffee machine through GoodwillOnline for $76.58. The Terms of the Sale stated As-Is, As-Described, we do ur best to list visible defects and test basic functions. All sales are final and non-refundable unless there was a NOTABLE DESCRIPTION THAT AFFECTS THE ITEM VALUE. WELL what would have been a notable description for me is that the machine will not brew water to make coffee and it came without a k-cup holder to put your coffee pod in. The machine turns on but will not brew water through the system and it does not have a k-cup holder to put the coffee pods in. I called Keurig and asked them what may be the problem, but come to find out that the machine that I bought from Goodwill was defective and Keurig sent a new machine out to that person (that donated it) and that person in turn donated a not working machine to Goodwill. The Keurig company said when they send out replacement machines they do not include a k-cup holder with the new machine. That is why my Goodwill purchased machine had no k-cup holder. If this was a $5 or $10 purchase I would have just moved on, but I spent $70ish dollars on this machine, because I cant afford to buy a new one and I can't afford to loose $70. I explained all this to Goodwill and they responded " Dear Karen, Thank you for your email. I am very sorry to have to tell you this but we are unable to refund you for your Keurig. The auction states Item powered on but further testing could not be completed. This item was sold as is. We recommend in the future when buying our electronics to ask about our testing policies. Thank you. Sincerely, Jenn Ward, Customer Service Administrator." When picking up the Keurig machine in Tacoma, after I purchased it I ever asked if I could test it (mind you they already have my monies) the attendant told me that I had already purchased it and if it didn't work I could just donate it back. I'm like WHAT??? Truely, I didn't think that I would get home and it wouldn't work, but it didn't. I have reported this practice to the BBB and as much as I have been a Goodwill consumer I will not shop with them anymore. If they want to be a credible retail outlet they should take care of the customer. THEY JUST TOOK MY $76.58 FROM SOMETHING THEY GOT DONATED AND LEFT ME WITH GARBAGE. My recommendations to ALL is not buy anything from GoodwillOnline that is electronics!!!
I typically donate to Goodwill and seldom shop their. Simply, because there are nicer thrift shops in Baltimore. But today I realized that the Goodwill charges by the pound. I don't know when that started but it's crazy. The very used plate that I found interesting was costly by the pound. Whatever happened to reasonably priced used items?
i went to the goodwill on 2121 nw 22ave in miami and was treated very poorly by an employee who claims she was a manager this happened on 5/6 2012 at 12;30 in the afternoon her name is olga.she wanted to charge me $50.00 for a merchandise that was marked .50 with a silver marker, she was very rude to me and my aunt,we not only shop at this goodwill but have donated on many occasions.I believe she does not like cubans due to the fact she made a nasty remark about cuban people. i believe she should not work with the public she does not know how to treat the customers. also she called the employee that was helping me which was a very nice respectful and helpful and she was mean and insulted him due to the fact that he was honest and admitted that the price marked on the item was fifty cents.i had several items in my cart and i was so upset that i had to leave the items
I use the auction site frequently. I collect clocks as a hobby. Almost all of the clocks are NOT tested, even when it is possible to just pop in a battery. I pass on bidding on clocks I would love to have because it is not prudent to buy a clock on the off chance it works. You would get more bidders driving the price up stating whether the clocks works or not if they were tested when they come in. I know it's not always possible to test all the clocks but when they are donated with all their parts, pendulum, key, etc and/or if they need a battery PLEASE TEST, it doesn't take much time. One other suggestion: Some stores use USPS and some use UPS. UPS is far less expensive. I have noticed that other bidders consider the shipping charges and bow out too. All the stores should follow a universal policy giving more detailed descriptions, whether anything mechanical works or not and all should use UPS. Thank you.
