I want to comment on the PICs (this stands for "person in charge"), and the managers of the Corvallis Fred Meyer. (I could also comment on the Tigard store as well, but I do not deal with them everyday anymore.) Ashley is a food "PIC" who does not have common knowledge that physical labor outside in 90 degree weather for prolonged periods can cause heat stroke. She turns down employees who ask to come inside to do a different task. She told this employee that he "HAD" to work outside. (However, 95% of his job duties are to be done inside.) This is the same woman that didn't know you could cut your hand on dirty bottle at bottle return. When this same employee asked to be given gloves to wear, she refused him, told him to just go do it, and called him a "wuss". The employee proceeded to inform her that you can contract diseases from not protecting your hands while dealing with broken bottles, and she told him "no you can't." What great managerial skills! A few days later, he cut his hand on a dirty bottle and a report was filed. He went to the hospital to get checked out, and though the cut was not deep enough to worry about permanent damage, the doctor was very concerned about infection. This same woman has attitude problems with all the employees below her, making rude comments like "you're probably no good at math, because you're not logical." I have talked to her as a customer, and was given attitude... can someone tell me why she still has a job exactly? I would also like to comment on Russ Stevens, the food manager. I've sat up on the second level at Starbucks (where you have view of most of the food area), and watched him laugh and chuck and jive with another employee for about 15 minutes straight. And I'd like to note that this has been on more than one occasion, pretty much the same thing, when this man is OBVIOUSLY on the clock. Fix it.
At the NW Peninsula Fred Meyers in Portland Oregon I have repeatedly been treated in a demeaning and mocking manner by one of the cashiers. He's in his 30's, has brown hair with pink or varying colors on the sides, and seems determined to seek out my attention and then toss as much dismissive attitude as possible my way. I've spoken with other people that live in the NW area and they report similar experiences to varying degrees. The next time that I have to deal with this I will take it up with the store management, if that's not successful then the corporate office. I'm there to buy my groceries, and in the process give my hard earned money to Fred Meyer, not to deal with teenage attitude from some social reject.
Battery went dead while on hold for customer service...reading these reviews didnt surprise me either I was informed today that ONLY CERTAIN CUSTOMERS with Or Wa and Ca driver licenses can return purchases esp without a receipt. THIS IS NOT POSTED AT CHECKOUTS and ILLEGAL I Believe. I WAS TOLD I SHOULD GET AN OREGON license if on an extended visit. Obviously the manager? has never OWNED a home and traveled. When I asked her for her name to complain elsewhere she departed quickly and refused. I use to be a resident here when Fred Meyer had a different owner. This new company doesn't care about there customers it seems or the laws..... Ill make some more importany calls about this when the battery is charged. Fred Meyers you should be ashamed of yourself but this Former customer will not be spending another dime there and will make sure others dont also.Your policy needs to become well known as well as legally checked into. One mad old lady!
The Newberg, Oregon store is the best Fred Meyer I have been to. I always get help when I need it whether from cashiers, dept. clerks, grocery leads or the store manager himself. It's a clean store and they usually have what I need. If all stores were like this one, FM would be the #1 store for everyone!
I am so done with the pharmacy in my Shelton Fred Meyer. I have been picking up my meds fore 5 years now. Lots of times they do not have meds on hand, or they give you 3 or 5 till supplies come in requiring another 18 mile round trip to town. Last weeK I inadvertently got RoundUp in my eye. I dropped script of and was told 20 min. Came back one hour later to be told they did not have med in stock and would have next day. What? My eye was swollen shut and very painful. Do you want us to call and see if Doc would give replacement. Duh! I came back another hour later, did not want to pressure pharmacist. Clerk said person who spoke with Dt's office could not understand order (no non-english speaking people in office) they were calling office back. Waited another hour. What started at 10:00 finally ended at 3:30. This is just one example of inefficiency. Every time I go it seems to be getting worse. Yesterday one of the pharmacists was pushing an empty grocery cart around the parking lot. Go figure. I am sorry I have been such a bother to the people who depend on me for their paychecki.
I live close by 72 & Pacific in Tacoma store. I have repeatedly called to have their property (shopping cart) pick up out of the road where a car may hit it. It would take a mere 5 minutes to retrieve it. They don't care! I have spoke with Management 4 times with no results. If corporate reads this I hope they realize those 100$ carts don't mean piss to the employees! I was merely trying to be a nice neighbor. My foreign friends say America is greedy, wasteful, and generally don't care about others are they right?
In reading all of the reviews about how bad Fred Meyer operates from the other users of this web site I felt the need to comment on few of them. On 5-1 Barbara Laurie says she coundnt get a mart cart 3 days in a row??? This company is not required by law to furnish mart carts at all.. they do it as a coutesey and they at times do break down by the abuse of customers OVER LOADING THE WEIGHT CAPACITY.(what do these people do at other types of business's that dont have them???? roll on the ground to get to and from? or maybe they sould push themselves to walk and get some EXERCISE!!! hell buy your own!!! The store she shops at is in a low income area and has a lot of customers who only by the ad items and alot of them. Rain checks are always given on out of stock items, this store probably gets a truck every other night and if the warehouse has the items the store will to. Barbara.. get over it.. and Im sure she still shops at this store!!! As for the applicant Glen Jackson the reason the HR person asks about criminal background so many times is because some people think that if they had a defered case or never been fully convicted of a crime or feel the issue (DUI) is a driving infraction and they check no on the aplication it looks like they are trying to hide something.. if you are honest and had a criminal background that was not of a certain type (drugs, rape, manslaughter etc) you could still be hired reguardless of the outcome. The interview was only 5 minutes because it was a screening interview that then goes to the manager of the section you are applying for... racial judgement??? large companies like Fred Meyer NEED a diverse workforce and you would probably be ahead of the "white" applicants.... your 53 and tyring to get a new job... dont get your feelers hurt just because someone else beat you out for the job... there are 5 other stores in a 20 mile radius... call them and keep trying!!! its a great company to work for if you keep in mind "YOU GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT" you can go along way with them! Consumers have issues with all kinds of retailers... I will admit that companies are only as good as the people working for them and some of these people turn out to be total idiots... Let the management know about these idiots to get them out of the work place and give applicant Glenn Jackson a chance at good employment and making the company as good as it can be. signed, 25 years employed with this great company As for any pharmacy issue... thank your govenment and doctors office.... Do you know either of them to be fast and efficient when it comes to heath care?? add in YOUR insurance provider(aint they just fun to deal with!!) YOU WILL AT TIMES HAVE ISSUES!!
I have always had the best service at the Fred Meyer"s jewelery store at the University Park Mall Store. The staff is very gracious and always willing to go that extra mile to find me the right piece of jewelery. I am very selective about the diamonds that I buy. I have traveled out of country on several occasions and shopped for the most unique piece. Each piece has to speak to me, I don't mean literally but there has to me a quality that no other will ever have. I have on more than one occassion been able to pick out my own diamonds and place them into a specific piece of jewelery. I take the time to look at each time for distinction, quality, clarity and fire. Just like any other piece of jewelery it must have its own character. Example, I had a design for a baracelet in mind. Lisa at this particular store was very patient with me and as I had made a drawing of this baracelet I wanted. She set off to find the exact one I wanted. I wanted white and pink diamonds. It took me 3 settings before i found each diamond. I finally ended up with just white diamonds. The pinks were too dark. Because a true pink diamond is a medium shade of pink to a blush to be a perfect pink diamond. Pink diamonds are the quite, delicate diamond with just the right amount of fire to them. I know when I was down in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands looking for columbian emeralds I was able to call this store and talk to Lisa as to the exact characteristics I needed to look for in this stone. I have been very satisified with their kindess, expertise and patience.
I really miss Fred Meyer since it was removed from Broadway in Seattle. After seeing a location where they would fit, as well as get a lot of business, I contacted their corporate offices to let them know of the location and ask if they could/would put a store in the new location. I let them know they would make a lot of people happy if they came back to the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. I called them in April and so far, no response. So today I started searching for another phone number for Kroger, the parent store but was not able to find any phone numbers for their corporate offices. Then I came across all these reviews from extremely unhappy customers. So now I find myself extremely happy there was no return call. I would like to know just exactly what has happened to the Fred Meyer I USED to know and love.
Today was the last day I will shop at Fred Meyer, ever. I am tired of the poor service, high prices and the unprofessionalism of the Gresham Pharmacy staff. I was lectured for the last time about how to do the job of the "glorified cashier" in the pharmacy department, because Katie is unwilling to make a small effort to find my prescription. I have found that Costco does not have the attitude and demeanor in dealing with customers that Fred Meyer does, apparently the quality of customer service is based on the wages of employees. I apologize to Fred Meyer for being a bothersome customer, and will take my money elsewhere.
When I was checking out the checkout lady didn't say anything to me. no "hello", no "Do you have a Fred Meyer card?", no nothing. No eye contact. Like I was bothering her. And she was laughing and smiling with the customer before me. Yet, when it came to my turn her mood instantly changed. =/
Hi, I have been going to the Fred Meyer pharmacy in Shoreline, WA for over 10 years. I have always received great service. They are friendly and efficient. I am there so often many of them know my name. Unfortunately this has changed. I am really frustrated with the terrible service. They don't have what I need and have to order it which takes over a week. I take my medication daily and it is very important that I have the pills I need. They have forgotten to fill orders several times in one day. I am sad but I will need to change pharmacies because it is important that I get the medication I need on a timely basis. There are many new people working behind the counter which might be the reason for the terrible service. I will miss going to this pharmacy but I cannot count on it anymore. Thank you for your time.
I am writing to express my displeasure and surprise with a recent interview at Fred Meyer’s which was on April 25, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. In the interview portion (5 minutes), I was asked inappropriate questions by the HR person, Melissa (last name unknown). On my original online application, there was a question asking if I have a criminal record. I answered ‘no’, which is true. In the one-on-one interview with Melissa, she asked the same question, not once, but 3 times, consecutively. I answered her each time that I do not have a criminal background. She also asked if I had any DUI s, which I answered “no, I don’t”. It was when she asked me if I had a DUI that a red flag went up. I wondered why she was asking these things when I had already answered them online. And I believe I gave my permission to check on my personal records in the online application, so this information could be checked without being asked. These questions were totally out of line, and inappropriate. At the interview there were 6 other people, 4 of which were seeking their first employment. I highly doubt if Melissa asked these young people those same questions, which makes me believe that her line of questions to me were biased. I am 53 years old, and of Native American descent (1/4) which I believe figured into her thinking in a prejudgemental way. How could she possibly gather enough information about me (5 min) to put me in the right light, given her line of questioning? It appears to me that she had already made a decision which was imprinted in her mind beforehand. In the gathering of info stage of the interview process, as a group, we were given some fact finding documents to fill out. Melissa’s instruction into how to fill them out were not clear, and I asked her to clarify it because two other interviewees had asked her a question about the form which caused me to have a question. She clarified it after I had already marked it. She also gave us a cover sheet which has a place to write our names on the front of it, she did not ask us to write our names onto the cover sheet in the space provided, which was obvious to me that she had forgotten to instruct us to do, because she wrote our names onto it herself after saying something inaudible. The fact finding document was placed into the cover sheet at the end of this group info gathering stage. Melissa told me that she thought that I would be a good fit in the ‘Home and Garden’ department at Fred Meyer’s. I have not heard from her or anyone else from Fred Meyer’s since my interview. I called and inquired about the job on April 29, 2011, but I was only able to leave a message, and no one has returned my call as of today (May 9, 2011). Is this the normal interview process at Fred Meyer’s? I would have to believe that there are some bias issues if this is the case.
This is the second time I have written here in about a month. I don't know where to reach someone in the main office by email. Last time I was unable to get one of the mark carts and had to return 3 days in a row and then have a big fight with them before I got them to find one for me to use. By then all of the sale items I was after had expired. No one cared that I was out of several things really needed. I asked if someone could help me get those items and they would not even respond to me. Today I went for some very very very necessary items that I had run out of (because they were out the last time I was there but they assured me they had an order comming in the end of last week.). Again I was unable to purchase them. I had a cart full of groceries that were slready rung up but since I was unable to get the needed supplies and will have to shop around elsewhere to find them I just told them I was not taking any of it. I resent having to run all around the country to find items that are common use items. I will have to use kleenex instead of toilet paper until I can get out again, I won't have the groceries I was planning on for meals, I had some very important items that I will have to make do without that Fred Meyers for many many years and buy almost exclusively there. Guess what. I will be looking for a new store to do my shopping. I feel badly as this is the closest store to where I live and I really like many of their products, but they are no longer reliable about carrying things. I am handicapped and it seems to me they almost go out of their way to treat handicapped people like third world citizens and have no intenion of helping or of serving them as customers. I am sure my groceries today would have been around a hundred dollars. Oh well they don't care if theylose customers. This was the Kent Fred Meyer on 240th st.
I had hoped to call and speak with some one about the way I was treated today as well as the fact they are breaking the Idaho law about limting sale Items. However I can not seem to find a way to reach them. I cannot find a number or a e.mail for them. When I try the number at the top of this page it is just a recording. Guess they do not want to really know how they are doing. I will never go back.
I have used the Fred Meyers Pharmacy for over 20 years I am an insulin dependent diabetic I called in two days ahead of times to refill my pens (novalog) they had to call the Dr for refills. I went in on Saturday to get my insulin because I was totally out. I was told my Doc had not called in the refill yet. So if I wanted to get the insulin that I would have to buy a full box at $85.00 I am on SSD and I have a very strict budget and I did ask if the could get me one pen to get me through the weekend. They (including the Pharmiast) were so rude and refused to work or listen to me Needless to say I had to go all week-end without insulin and this morning my sugar count was almost 500. I have had other similar problems with the pharmacy on 100 Meridian Road in Puyallup, Wa phone # 253-840-8183. I did call my Doctor this morning and was told the request did not come over to their off until this morning. I will be changing pharmacys this time I get at least 12 perscriptions each month from the pharmacy (most are on a three months supply) which will be a loss of some monies to you but at least I will live longer.
This is about Peninsula Fred Meyers Pharmacy I am shocked at the result of service. I called in to get medicine for a 5yr old who has to take this everyday and they told me it would be in the next day, so I went up there and it was the wrong meds. I told them and the tech got real rude and said well you will have to call your doctor on Monday and I said No this child is without and I will get a hold of him today and the doctor was just blown away and called it in right away and the guy then told me, I don't know how you did that but now we have to order it. I went back to get it today and was told they have to order it. I said this kid is without and you are telling me this over and over, the child end up at the hospital for a reaction to not having this med. I am floored at the results I have got what is it going to take Fred Meyers for this child to die.
39th store lists they have wifi for customers but they turn off the server and one of the superviser will till you there looking into it but the manager has turned the power switch off how does that make you feel when you spend more then $3000.00 year.
In both the Vancouver Washington 164th st. Freddies and the Warrenton Oregon stores, they have so much merchandise that a majority of the store is NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. In Vancouver I got hooked up on display racks and got quite frustrated. I asked to speak to a manager.. They said they would look into it. In Warrenton, the manager gal tried to explain to me the width by law that isles need to be. I said I know the laws, I can't get into many many areas, she said that the merchandise does fill up the area, I then stated, so you prefer to have merchandise to having handicap shoppers? She suggested having an associate help me.. I then explained I had to hunt someone down to find her, then wait 10 minutes.. Is that really necessary?
The Gig Harbor store is filthy! Need I say more? When I called this to the attention of a manager. He was defensive. I said, "Okay, you're right. The customer is crazy." (An attempt at being facetious.) I said I'd be checking again in the same dirty area I observed, and said if it is in the same condition tomorrow, I'm calling the health deparment. Then said, "Well, the new Safeway store will put you out of business." He replied, "Safeway if going bankrupt." He should be fired, and then he'll be declaring bankruptcy! Before I rate this and submit my evaluation, is it possible to put a minus-one star!?
