The worst place I've ever tried to do business with. I called and got disconnected and they returned my call only to say F U on my answer machine ( only they said the whole thing of course)! I called back trying to reach a supervisor and they would not put me through. I will contact the better business bureau and explore my options!! In the mean while I will suggest to all my friends and family to not use Expedia and I hope to persuade everyone that reads this review to do the same!
Rates hotels by their chain name doesn't look at customer reviews or even AAA ratings. Then you end up with a horrible hotel on the unpublished rates. Don't use Expedia! Don't bother with customer service it's horrible and Harvey actually laughed at me on the phone while I was talking to him. Then was ending the call. All over $160. I know it's not a lot of money even more reason for them to just do a refund. When I asked for them to have someone call me they said that's not our policy. Really? Really? That's horrible service! They just lost another customer
HORRIBLE COMPANY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL! THEY ARE LIARS! On Aug 7, 2012 I was searching the internet for the lowest rate for a specific hotel in Cancun. I found a very good rate for the hotel I wanted on a site other than Expedia, but since I have an account with Expedia and they indicate on their website that they have a best price guarantee, I decided to call Expedia to see if they would match the price I found. I called Expedia and was on hold for over an hour. After waiting forever, someone named Deborah got on the phone. It took over 45 minutes but I took the time to give her the website address and information for the site I saw the lowest price. She saw the website and the price, which was much lower than the price she was seeing on Expedia (lowest price was over $600 less), and she talked me into booking the trip on the phone stating that I would definitely be getting the price difference refunded to my credit card. She said she would transfer me to Customer Service after I booked the trip and they would refund the price difference. I asked her over and over if Customer Service would give me a hard time and she said no. She lied. After agreeing to book the trip - now another hour later - she transferred me to Customer Service. I spoke to someone named Chaz and I explained the situation to her. She said she was not seeing the price difference on the website I directed her to go to. I told her I had a pdf of the website and the price that I could just send over but she refused to accept that. I was so aggravated at this point that I asked for a manager. After another 15 minutes of waiting a jerk named Gino got on the phone after going through my story for the third time he said that he did not see the rate I was referring to. He then said the site I was referring to was not 'dependable' and Expedia could not honor the rate. I was horrified. I then told him that everyone involved was completely unprofessional and I would be writing a lengthy letter to the President/CEO of Expedia with all of their names on it. At the end of the day I wasted three hours for nothing with no hotel reservations as I told him to cancel the entire reservation. Whatever you do - DON'T BOOK YOUR TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY. They don't know anything about being professional or honoring their website claims. I'm telling everyone I know about this because I would hate for someone else to go through this. It is just awful and I hope they go out of business.
I am a long time customer of expedia. My extended family and I book Florida trips more than twice a year with them. The reservations are never perfect, my hotel reservations have been problematic, went to maui and thought we were getting a king bed as booked for my honeymoon in Maui, instead we had no choice and got to queens as no king bedrooms were available. Also, on almost ALL of my flights the return is always changed and usually to a much longer lay over and even more stop some times which with kids is a nightmare. But I continue using them as I understand things happen and this is not a perfect world. My last booking though has brought me to this site as I have been given the run around for over a year regarding a refund/credit. I booked a flight well in advance, months, only to be told by my doctor that I was unable to fly due to doctor ordering me to bedrest. I was initially told to follow procedures to request a refund from Airtrans which was denied. I then was sent an email response that stated my card would be credited when Airtrans made a decision. After waiting and waiting, and numerous emails and phone calls with them nothing ever happened. During all these contact attempts noone ever informed me I had a credit available for $1000 plus that had to be used in a year. Finally now that my time has expired they are keeping ALL my money. Supervisor stated it was a miscommunication with the agent and refused to help. In all my calls and email NOT one time did an agent ever tell me I had a credit that needed to be used. They just kept sending me round and round only to keep my money! I will take this to court along with all my correspondence and I'll bet I WIN. I see this is just how they treat customers, like crap. All they want is your money they don't care about continued business PR keeping customers happy. I already was willing to lose money for canceling even though I had a medical reason and even a doctors letter but I refuse to let this terrible company keep over $1000. CFelix.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! First mistake - I booked a vacation package with Expedia.com. After reading the fine print, we canceled the reservation less than 24 hours after we booked it. Second mistake, we called the 1-800# for Expedia to cancel our vacation package, the customer representative assured my wife and me - "the entire reservation is "Null and Void" because you canceled it less than 24 hours and your credit card will not be charged." Third and final mistake - I believed the representative and went forward and cancelled my reservation. Within minutes I received 2 emails confirming the cancelation from Expedia and United. Three days later, Expedia and United Airlines charged my credit card for the full amount of the vacation package. 5 Days later I'm still trying to get my refund. So far spent hours on the phone with Expedia and countless representative hanging-up the phone on me. UNBELIEVABLE! NEVER AGAIN Expedia!
It should be a ZERO!! I have been in a dispute with Expedia over a duplicate charge for the past month. I booked a trip to Arcata California for a motel for 5 nights. I have been charged twice for this trip on my charge card ($553.35 X 2). I have had 4 phone calls, numerous emails, and finally a call from their dispute department after I disputed the duplicate charge with my credit card company. I have been told at least 3 times that the duplicate charge will be credited back and to date, just before we are to leave on our trip, it has not happened. I am totally unhappy with their service and I was even given completely erroneous information the first time I spoke to a customer service representative. I do not believe she even understood the nature of my call. Someone please tell me the name of their CEO. I now plan to submit all of this information to their corporate offices directly. Never again.
EXPEDIA WILL NOT PAY MY COMMISSION TO MY AGENCY. I have received a complete runaround about this for 3 months. I am now on the phone with Expedia Headquarters and they too are completely incompetent. If you are any type of savy traveler please do not book with Expedia. And if you call my agency to book something on Expedia we cannot help you. They will not pay us.
Worst service ever!!!!!!! These people will take your money and not deliver. If you even try to get a refund. You won't get thru to anyone. The headquartes office number is fake. The operators are in India and they are not trying to help you
Does anyone know who the president/ceo of expedia is? They are awful!!
Absolute rip off. Booked an all holiday to Vegas for two, but one of the party couldn't go. Phoned Expedia to change the name of one person on the booking and was told it is not their policy to change a name so had to cancel the booking, loose £900 and rebook the flight costing another £780!! So basically I have paid for the same seat twice. Will never use Expedia ever again. If I could afford to I would look into suing them!
prefer to give zero for the services but there is no zero selection
Expedia is the worst internet booking company ever. I will never use them again. They double charged us for 2 hotel rooms and now they refuse to refund the money to us after we cancelled the whole thing.
At the end of January 2012 we got together 14 persons (7 families) and booked a all-inclusive vacation package in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. 2 families booked trough Expedia and 5 families booked to Orbitz. Upon our arrival all of us were told that the hotel is overbooked and we must be relocated for two days at another hotel 45 minutes bus ride away. Tired, with no other alternative but to spend the night on the hotel lobby we accepted the relocation against our will and as a last resort. The relocation process itself that we have experienced is viewed by Expedia as a simple and normal business occurrence “due to some availability issues”, but for us, translates into vacation time lost. Due to this relocation we lost 2 (two) days from our vacation. Instead of enjoying time at the beach or at the pools we were busy packing and unpacking to complete checking in and checking out from these hotels. Back in the States, 5 families contacted Orbitz their tour operator, explained the situation and they received a credit of $540.30 for their time lost and other inconveniences. When we (2 families) contacted Expedia expecting a similar resolve, Expedia refused to issue a credit. We are ready to retain an attorney to file a law suit. Don't go to EXPEDIA !!!!!
I LOVE EXPEDIA! One thing that I have learned is to read all of the fine print and confirm prior to completing my booking. I have had issues with flight vendors more so Delta but Expedia always goes to bat for me and does the best they can to get the issue resolved for me. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS EXPEDIAS FAULT. they can only do what the vendors allow and myself coming from a well known hotel chain know they cant do anymore than we would allow. Everyone on here is griping because they didnt get what they felt they deserved but I bet if they looked a bit deeper they would find who the problem was really with. Oh and yea its bad with the jobs overseas but how many of you would deal with people like yourselves for 6.00 an hour? None!
well thanks to comment from debbie (see below) was able to contact an expedia employee who spoke perfect english and was more than happy to help me! ( thanks nicolette!) had a serious issue with the booking process , she was very helpfull and understanding.and went out her way to get to the bottom of this , my problem lies with bookit.com as well so now i am going after them, although i am a bit upsetwith the fact that i spent so many days trying to get to the top, with so many expedia employees who did not speak english well was very frustrating. once again thank you expedia for helping me out!
Stay away...use a different travel service that is NOT affiliated with expedia. I booked a trip to Puerto Rico for my Family and had to cancel with over a months notice. I told them that I was going to rebook with them..They charged me $600.00 and kept on telling me it's jet blues fee. Which it is NOT..Another company that ships jobs over seas.

Had issues with them before but gave them benefit of the doubt and tried again- silly me. Booked a package ( air and 5 nights hotel) Wanted to change the room (slight u. pgrade and on the package deal was only about $8 more per night) They said I could cancel and re-book the hotel only portion but would be $260 more due to current room rate. I said I was looking at their current package rate and was only $40 more to change the room so if I booked the entire package form scratch it would be $40 more, so why charge me $260. Said I would cancel the entire trip and re-book then, due to non refundable airfare could not. They would not let me have the room upgrade at the package price though I had paid for the package deal. he last time I had an issue with them they had to give me a credit. I seem to find no one with any sense of customer satisfaction in this company. I was not trying to get money back. I just wanted what was fair. Something Expedia seems to know nothing about. I doubt corporate would care any more.
Today I purchased a Universal Studios Pass for 3 people. I thought all was well until I checked my bank account and found out Expedia charged me twice for my transaction. I called expedia and they said it can take up to two weeks for them to refund my card. So I called my Bank (US Bank) to see if they could cancel one of the trasactions without cancelling everything and they said yes and that they would need a number from Expedia in order to cancel it today so that way I dont have to wait for my refund, it would be automatic. After sitting on the phone with Expedia and I thought US BAnk for my lunch hour and an additional hour in a half, a total of two in a half hours NOBODY answered. I hung up and US Bank hung up. I called US Bank back and they said Expedia refused to give that number out and there was nothing they could do. Expedia is a rip off, you cant speak to an english person, you cant get anyone on the line and they double charge you and cant give you your money back on your terms. This company is a joke. THis is the first and last time i will EVER purchase throughg Expedia again.
I was booked at a hotel in the middle of crack town (165 Capital Ave SW Battle Creek MI) for $8o...the sign on the hotel said $29.99. Thank goodness I checked it out before we went to the casino. Expedia said they booked the wrong location and returned my money with no penalty but couldn't compensate me!! I just got off phone with Corporate they can't give me any compensation for the extra running i had to do that day. They will write a memo about the experience I had at the hotel they can't guarantee the hotel will come off there list. Neither customer service agent was very helpful!
