cashier @ a local DG store
I was fired because the asst. mng refused to work with me because she didn't like me. I did everything I was asked, went in on my days off to fill in for others, worked 11 hour shifts on Saturday so that the mng. could go to the bank. The asst. mng. thought I was after her job and decided I shouldn't be a key holder. I wanted to work my 20hrs and call it good.. she started giving me the silent treatment, and I would have to call someone to buy me water, or cough drops when I was sick because she wouldn't check me out. The mng was informed and we were no longer allowed to work together, so I lost my Friday and Sat. where I picked up most of my hours. she did nothing.. I called the district mng and he did nothing. I was "let go" because if I couldn't put in my full 20hrs a week there was not room for me in the company. I was not fired ( in their words) but they were letting me go.. same thing HELLO! Anyway I haven't been back into a DG store since.. now I am fighting to get my W2 because I never received an employee ID number I cannot make a DGMe account. I called and they sent it to the wrong address so I had to PAY to have another one sent to my house.. we are talking about another 2 week wait. I call the store and try to explain whats going on and the mng will not take my calls. I have left messages and I get nothing back. I JUST want to say that in all my life ( I have been working since I was 14) I HAVE NEVER EVER dealt with such rude, unorganized people in my life! They don't try to resolve issues, they just fire you or "let you go."
Return Policy
I bought an alarm clock at the store on Ingersol, in Des Moines, IA. It did not work. The very next day I went to exchange it for another one. Because I did not save the plastic it came in they would not exchange it and then were rude about it. I shop at that store every week and live with 34 women who shop at that store. (A two year transitional housing program) There are only two of us who have cars and it is our job to take the others once a week to shop and I always take them to store on MLK or Ingersol. I am so mad at the way I was treated, that I will never step foot in a Dollar General again, and I sure won't be giving the ladies a ride there. It was only a ten dollar clock, but I have to work an hour and a half to earn that. By the way, I left the worthless clock there.
Your store in Lufkin, Texas on Southwood Drive loses money every day due to empty shelves. It looks perpetually as if it is going out of business. It's a real travesty because it is a great location and could make a lot more money if you stocked it on a regular basis. Someone within the Dollar General organization needs to investigate the problem since this has been happening for the last several months.
Filty store
In recent weeks the local store has gone down hill. The floors are dirty, the aisles blocked, There is trash on the front walkway, the displays block the exit, the shelves are in disorganized. I have gone to several other stores in the area but the one in Gibsonville, North Carolina is in the worse condition.
rude emeployee
I walked into the dollar general on 7965 Valencia College Ln orlando fl 32825 with a return without price but I had my receipt the employee by the name of Marissa Jaramillo was extremly rude by telling me I need the tags even tho I was exchanging I told her the receipt didnt say that and she said "common sense would tell you that" I ask for a manager and she refused to give me the managers name or number, I left the store and came back with the tag and the item with the receipt and she then decline to give me a refund of my money! You online website and website clearly states that I am entitle to a refund within 30days and it was only a 1 since I bought the item. Marissa Jaramillo was extremely rude to a customer and the store was full of customers when she said that. That is NOT how you conduct business!

PayPal Issue
I attempted to use your Paypal option at my local store and entered my phone and password as required and it failed saying pin mismatch. Your device has no way of realizing if caps lock is on or which symbols are being used and was quite a taxing process in futility.The employees tried to assist but really had no proper training in the use of Paypal transactions. This was my only recourse of funds for my purchase and due to the failure of completion I have had to take my business elsewhere where I can use my funds from PayPal. This service needs to be revamped especially on the card processor at the register for ease of use to the customer. My first attempt my password was too long for your machine so I went home changed password to accommodate your system and still denied process. Your employees were great, but you really should give them the proper tools to work with and a system friendly to your customers. This may make my retail purchasing choices to be made at a retailer who can process my transactions more easily. Very disappointed after over 30 years as a customer. Guess I will have to go to WalMart...
WOW from Improving to The worst store ever!
The Store on Rodney Parham in Little Rock, shopped thier regularly til now, seems like everyone took a vacation before Christmas, the store is cluttered, dirty, it smelled. I was a regular during the summer and noticed it was getting better and looked clean and organized. Something must have changed I would say a week before Christmas, I noticed it was going back to the way it was before. Before the end of June, I live by the store so it is/was convenient, I have 3 kids, and I needed to get balloons, they had balloons blown up! I was shocked and I asked for help and got it! I started to become a regular then. The tall guy manager was always there and always said Hi to me and helped me, he always gave me a cart or basket..and a young girl was there I think her name was Alex, but she was always very nice and opened another line to help out at the register. I guess they are not there anymore because I was in there and everything in the store was gone empty! It was dirty, and some girl there was talking loud and very street like it was a very unpleasant experience. I went there today and it was closed at 5pm! I thought they closed at 9pm? That was the last straw they need to close that store down, if yall cant get it right. I d rather see a Walamrt negihborhood store in its place then a Dollar General Store
store losing customs
i kive in gray court sc for the last 3 weekend i have went to the gray court store and was told they could only take correct change or credit card they didnt have money in store to make change i can understand every once in a while running out of change but 3 weeks in a row and the manger is not friendly at all
Horrible hr and customer skill on our corporate help line... I have called and left messages for days about my w2 but everyone has been rude and short with answers... I'm considering filing a complain with my tax office...
filled out app on line, got done could not sign name on my computer,called 877 # & was told my computer was not good enough to finish my app. really maybe thats why im looking for different job!!!

I have had 2 issues with the Belding Dollar General. First was when 4 of my children attempted to buy toys that I was told were suppose to be pulled off the shelfs and destroyed. I was told they were "faulty and unsafe". They were doll heads that you designed the hair. I felt that if they were on the shelf then they were to be sold. I found them the next day at the MelTrotter Store being sold the next day. The 2nd time I had a problem was over a 45.00 electric heater that worked 2 hours. Refused refund because corprate said no refunds and no exchange. I explained it don't work. I was told by the manager. Rules are rules. Contacted Corprate and was told that I could get my money back but Manager Doug refuses to do so. Calling my husband a liar and then refusing to come out of his office. Lesson learned! Do not shop at Dollar General!
OMG
My daughter works at #1826.. this store was robbed at gun point... she is a mess right now... so am I. I am upset about the fact that she was held at gun point but the real problem is that there is not security, no panic buttons, loss prevention in the store, etc.. I believe that if my daughter would have lost her life on Saturday 01/26/13 around 7:40 pm this damn store would have been open the next morning after the blood was cleaned up... Please do something to protect your customers and your employees... the robber was found to be have been standing outside the door for over 5 minutes... Security would have rectified this issue....she is afraid to work at this time and this is not good because she lives on her own and has bills to pay... she has night mares and all...

pricing in stores
I love shopping at Dollar General stores. The prices are really good and the employees are very helpful and friendly. I shopped at 4 different Dollar General stores this week. The only problem I have is that displays on the end of the aisles do not always have prices on the product. The sign may say Prices start at $2.00 but there are several items in display boxes that are not priced. When this happens I will not buy the products since I don't know the cost. I worked in retail for a large grocery store chain for over 22 years, I did the pricing for the store, so I know how important it is to have a price and correct signage on ALL items. Again, I truly enjoy shopping in your store.
very upset
I would like to talk with someone in person about one of the managers at store #07349. I was in the store the second time tonight and the manager didn't realize I was cashing out when she was talking really bad about my children and myself to the assistant on duty. There was a long line of people behind me listening to her every word. I am very upset and hurt by what she said and how unprofessional she was to talk about a customer in front of all the other customers.
No logic
Went in a Dollar General on Elvis Presley in Whitehaven tonight and the manager Melvin refused to sell me paper towels that rang up seasonal and were decorated with Christmas trees and Christmas colors for the going clearance as all Xmas items ... .25. That makes no sense to me as to why he did not want me to buy them at the clearance price!!!! So anyway was not a good experience.

well went to work ask manager to talk to her went to office to ask about my hours she said she would not talk to me with out someone with her she said she needed a witness when i talk to her asked what was the matter she said nothen i said ok thank you / then i got to thinking saw her in back of store ask if we need our DM there she said she didnt care / well started working no more was said /the key person wanted to buy somethings i told her i would not check her out per what manager told me it made her upset sorry
Dirty DG
Crooksville OH, is a store that takes no pride in their work. The employees are dressed usually in wrinkled clothes with stains(like they pulled them out of the hamper). The floors are hardly swept or mopped. Your feet stick to the floor because they are so sticky. The isle ways are so narrow you can not walk down them as it is let alone when there is trash left from stock. They have been through so many managers and none of them could do their job.
I will no longer be patronizing any Dollar General stores due to the blatant mistreatment of employees by other employees. I will further that by discouraging other people to do the same.
