I have enjoyed taking my family to Cracker Barrel, and usually we have had good customer service, but last night was a real big disappointment. The table next to us, who was sat down a while after us, was accidentally given the wrong food. But instead of telling the waiter, they started to eat it. When it was brought to the waiters attention that they had made a mistake, their waiter apologized to them repeatedly and brought them their correct dish in no time. All the while no one apologized to us, and we had to wait longer for our food than the other table. Our waiter said nothing about the mix up, but just acted like it was no big deal. When we finally received our food my plate was cold. They basically took my plate, the only one that was not eaten by the other table, and just set it aside and tried to serve it to me 15 minutes later. I cringe at the thought that when they took my plate away, I think they just reheated in the microwave, and did not give me a new plate. The only person who apologized to us was a helper, who was neither our waiter or manager. He was lower in the chain of employees, but showed better customer service skills than everyone there. When it was time to go they wanted us to pay the full bill! I talked to the manager, and he discounted me one meal. It should have been free. I understand that mistakes happen, and I have worked in the food service industry, so I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I think that lack of apology to us really made it difficult to keep making excuses for them. The fact that I had to track down the manager was also upsetting, because he was the one who, as I was informed, was in the back trying to fix our order. So that means that he; 1. new about the mix up and 2. served a cold dish that was left sitting out for a good fifteen minutes. I still like Cracker Barrel, but it has put a bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally, so it will be a really long time before we eat there again. I hope that one man who helped us out gets promoted. He is the only one that showed any sense of management or people skills.
We are long haul truckers and eat at Cracker Barrels at lease 3 times week , all over the country. Please please bring back regular Italian dressing!!!!
the store i work at,the gossip about other employees is not nice.mgrs claim that an employee is a ass watcher? there making judgement without any facts. ive talked with this employee, he is only observant about what goes on around him. it seems mgrs dont communicate well, hard 2 make $, too many servers !
I recently visited the crackle barrel in Summerville SC. I had my 9 year old son and 5 year old son with me. We were there for breakfast my sons ordered pancakes and as we were eating my 5 year old found a huge chunk of glass in his pancakes. The manager took the pancakes of the bill but didn't really acknowledge what the effects could have been had he bit into or swallowed this glass. He down played the situation and screwed like it was no big deal. I will never go back to this restaurant and we used to go once a week. Teresa_h__2005@Yahoo.com
Cracker Barrel Corporate Office | Headquarters 305 Hartmann Dr. Lebanon, TN 37088 Hi: My name is Linda. I have been to several of your restaurants over the years and have always thoroughly enjoyed my visits. I live in New York (eastern Long Island) and only get the opportunity to visit your restaurants when I am in an area that has your locations. I am writing to suggest that your headquarters/corporation look into the possibility of opening a restaurant in the Riverhead, NY area (eastern Long Island). This area is known as the “Gateway to the Hamptons”. The Riverhead area has: 1. Over 50 wineries between the north and south forks of Long Island, with most of them being on the north fork. 2. Splish Splash Water Park (Riverhead) – one of the biggest water parks on the East Coast 3. Tanger Outlet Malls I & II (Riverhead) – the largest outlet chain on the East Coast 4. Numerous farm stands on the main roads and back roads (Riverhead area) 5. Corn maze fields, pumpkin picking galore, Briermere Farms (known throughout Long Island as having the best pies ever!) 6. Numerous Antique shops on and off the main roads 7. The “Hamptons” with their multi-million dollar homes, movie stars and beautiful beaches are only 15 minutes away 8. Riverhead is less than an hour’s drive from New York City and brings people in by the thousands throughout the year by car, limousine and buses 9. Over a dozen public and private beautiful golf courses to play on There also are plenty of other activities in the area that bring people in by the droves. I currently work for the Town of Riverhead and am affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, so I am quite aware of how this town has grown over the years and is continuing to grow. We also have the largest number of retirement villages, including condos, villas, townhouses, mobile home parks, etc. on Long Island. The population has more than doubled here over the years. I ask that you would consider the possibility of opening one of your great restaurants in the Town of Riverhead in the near future as we currently have nothing that even comes close. Please forward this e-mail to your corporate headquarters or the appropriate department that does location research. Please visit our website @ http://eastendgetaway.com for more information. Thank you very much. Linda McKay (631) 727-3200 ext. 670 (Town Hall) or mckay@riverheadli.com
They're only nice to you if your a customer. If your going in for an interview and don't have enough work experience to meet their qualifications, don't be surprised to hear them say, that hiring you would be a complete waste of their time. They could have said instead, well get back with you when we can, or were currently pursuing other candidates and conducting other interviews. This guy at the cracker barrell in athens, TN would just keep staring at me long after I answered the question. Its like he was trying to study me or something. I was very uncomfortable and felt very awkward. He was looking at me like I had just murdered half a dozen people, and like he was trying to maked me admit it. I did not deserve to be treated that way. He should be fired for how he treats people.
Went toto the cracker barel on Hull Street injust Richmond Virginia. This restaurant is the DIRTIEST cracker barrel I have ever been to! Dust bunnies hanging from ceilings. Dust over an inch thick on the lattice work room dividers. Ordered the breakfast with the muffin and yogurt. Muffin was uncooked and batter ran all over the plate when I went to eat it. On a previous visit found a hair in my eggs. Waiting staff was nice but what good is that when the place is dirty and the food is NOT edible. Just thought everyone should be forewarned. Have been to cracker barrels in other states and areas and they all put the Richmond location HANDS DOWN!
I have always loved the chocolate cobbler. Please bring it back!! The coca cola cake is gross. You all made a huge mistake by switching to crap!!
I would NEVER work for Cracker Barrel. They do searches of their employees and that is disgraceful and unconstitutional. I have worked for Walmart, Farm Fresh & Phar-Mor and have never been searched. I have heard that this is in their policy and heard from employees that work there. Also, I overheard one of the managers at a Cracker Barrel call an employee STUPID. She has a great lawsuit in my opinion as she has been harrassed numerous times.
The manager Frank makes any work shift extremely difficult. Hes very rude and nasty. Alls he cares about is getting food out of the window for low ticket times, even if nothing is set up right, or if items are missing. When you return to ask for the items that were wrong he'll scream at you. I used to enjoy my job but whenever he's there I feel like I'm working for a sweatshop. Certain employees he goes out of his way to give a hard time, while others can talk back to him and joke with him and get away with it. Cracker barrel store #350
Every time I order the roast beef dinner I find myself having to look for the meat through the fat and gristle. Please improve the roast beef or take it off your menu. You run a lot of great promotional choices that taste great but then don't offer them anymore but yet you are willing to keep the fatty, gristlely roast beef on your menu. Thank you for reading my complaint and thank you in advance for taking some action on the roast beef dinner. Thank you!
I don't want my comment regarding your fatty gristlely roast beef dinner posted I just wanted someone to be aware of the really bad roast beef. Roast beef really bad!
I am a hostess at cracker barrel, in gonzales. ive been there for 1 year, and in my opinion, this place is a train-wreck. Their expectations are exceedingly high, considering they have way too few employees, who actually give a dam, or are willing to do good work, and take care of guests. they have a hell of a time keeping employees- probably because they work all of us like slaves!for example.. if numerous amounts of people, coming thru cracker barrel, & complain that it is way too hot inside the store and restaurant(even with the fans on), taking time to tell the managers about the discomfort (since it is in the upper 90s outside),yet the managers dont do anything about it !servers, hosts, and guests r completely miserable all bc a manager can't go turn down a thermostat!how messed up can u get?! they obviously only care about turning tables and making money. Uncle Hershel must be turning in his grave!
I would just like to say that i worked at crackerbarrel in hamburg pa , and its not a healthy enviroment as far as eating or in the back where fod is prepared . i have seen food dropped on the floor and put back on the stove or on peoples plates to be taken out to the tables . i have seen no gloves used in handling food , even seen hair in the food trays from the cooks on the grill line . i worked there for over a year never ate there or even drank out of their cups !
I was in the Evansville Indiana location expecting to enjoy the regularly great service and good when our waitress came to the table...heather was her name...she was very rude. She was acting if she had no clue where she was at. When she finally returned with our food it wasn't even the right order she failed to give us refills and didn't offer to fix our order when asked to speak to a manager she left and never e returned back to the table. We used to love cracker barrel now I doubt well ever return.
My wife and I have always enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrel as we travel and also the location about 6 miles from our home. We usually order the hickory smoked country ham, potato casserole, and fried apples. We ordered the same today at our home location. As were were leaving, the waiter asked if everything was ok which we mentioned the ham. In a few seconds the manager appeared and asked about the problem to which my wife told him everything was ok. In a huffy voice he asked her if she would like another piece of ham. She said no. He respomded, and I quote, "you came in here to get your belly full and I don't want anybody going away hungry" then turned away quickly and left. She was very displeased with his statement. We paid for the meal and left. I feel this manager needs some training or seek other employment. Five thirty pm July twenty eight, two thousand twelve.
I work at cracker barrel and at first i loved it. But after being there for over a year and a half i realized that the managers are corrupt. They do not treat their employees with respect and absolutely refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Instead, they blame everyone else for their mistakes. Its NEVER the managers fault. And the GMs are just as bad. Never once has a GM been on my side about anything. Even if its OBVIOUS who is in the wrong. They will twist your words to try to get you to see that their manager is in the right. They ALWAYS back up there management team, even if they know they are wrong. WHO IS ON OUR SIDE???? THE WORKER? WHO IS THERE FOR US?
Just came from the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville, NC. I eat there regularly and , usually, have a good experience - not today. It took over 15 minutes after ordering (with very few people in the restuarant). I ordered the meatloaf (first time) and it was the most DISGUSTING, HORRIBLE meal I have EVER had there! All I could taste were green peppers (which I detest when cooked), the BEST part of it was the bottle of ketchup they give you (to cover that horrible taste, I am sure). Thankfully, the check out girl and manager took care of the meal (I didn't have to pay for it), even though I was willing. They need to take that mess OFF their menu - YUCK!
Dissappointed in your decision on confined animal production. I read your pros but did not see your cons? How can you still be an old country restaurant. And let Peta run you business?
My daughter has worked for CB on and off for over 10 yrs,,My son-in-law has been a hard working employee for around 7 years.....My son-in-law was taken into the office and fired, reasons were that a group of fellow employees accused him of racial slurs, he was told that they did an investigation , but He knew nothing about the whole thing. He was not even asked if he did it or not. (he did not make these slurs). What kind of investigation is it if the accused was not even notified. My son-in-law is a family man and he would never put his job at risk. what happened to civil rights, the right to face your accuser , the right to even give your accounts of what happened or in this case, what did not happen. this is a matter for a lawyer to sort out. He did not do what those people said he did plane and simple.
