I was employed with CitiFinancial for about 2 years....and it was the most miserable time of my career. I enjoy people and the oppurtunity to help them. When I applied for the job, I was under the understanding, I would make lending decisions. I felt this was a great way to help better lives and earn a decent living. Shortly into my employment, the company transitioned, and made us a collection center. We were told how worthless our borrowers were for not paying us, and our jobs threatened reguarly for poor collections. Some of my coworkers could treat borrowers like dirt, saying comments to them such as, when is the last time you ate out? Or, instead of being home now, why aren't you working, why not get a second..a third job. I spent month after month not sleeping, pacing the floors worried borrowers in my collection list would end up in court, missing a day from work that would put them further behind; or losing their vehicle, which would inhibit them from going to work at all---or worse, losing their home. I agree, we were told we were there to help. But, we were never put in the position to actually do so. We were yelled at, treated less than senior manangement, and disrespected as employees regularly. Of course, there are some employees who I considered tools. They would grin and agree with whatever jargon was given to us to help conceal what douches the company consists of. They are legal loan sharks and that is why as soon as I found another position, I took it. I am making substantially less money, but I can sleep at night and actually find myself smiling while working again, and that is truly priceless. Do not borrow from One Main Financial either, they are Citifinancial rebranded.

You make it sound like you’re next to Godliness. Offering to help? Yeah right… Try more like making numerous phone calls everyday even after, message, after message has been left at your office. Sometimes people have to work the same hours your office is open. If I am out and you can’t get a hold of me but I have called to give you information and had to leave a message at your office then sometimes that has to do. Calling everyday for a month straight and then arguing on the phone when arrangements have been made is not what I would call helping. Not to mention the fact that your company tried to take money out on my account on days before the due date of my payment and wondered why the money was not there. This happened 3 months in a row, something to do with the long weekends. Now if I could make my payments via computer, but since your company seems to enjoy calling and calling my home phone instead of making it easy for me to make my payments, there would be no issue. Since I work out of town and start before the post office is open and finish after it closes and can’t get a money order at the drop of a hat. So this seems to make you think you have the right to harass me. Thanks again for the “help” as you call it. By the way I was told that the payments would be easy to make via computer when I signed up for this loan and yes I did explain I worked out of town and it would be next to impossible to get a hold of me when I am on the road. Once again I was assured this would not be an issue. I do believe that yourself righteous attitude is one of the problems with this company. IT’S NOT YOUR MONEY. So give it up, do the work to make life better not worse. You sure made it easy for me to sign up for the loan, selling all the bells and whistles adding on insurance and other coverage barely checking references and excepting printed on a home computer pay stub. Then you have the nerve to complain when people don’t pay you back. Whatever. Once again do your job from the beginning and you won’t have this problem.
Just read the comment from a supposed Citi employee who, of course, rated Citi Financial with 5 starts. First of all, I find it hard to believe that this person is an employee since her grammar and sentence structure skills leave a lot to be desired. That being said, this person claims to work for Citi and, of course, it is the borrowers' fault that they receive harrassing phone calls bordering on a crime. This company charges an outrageous percentage fee. Granted, people do borrow, but when people are desperate for money for their car, bills, or medical expensives, they sometimes have no choice. Times are difficult in this economy, with high unemployment, gas prices, grocery prices, and cost of living rising daily. That is still no reason to be harrassed with daily phone calls that come twice every hour, and voice messages threatening to go to the magistrate who will come to your home and "tag all your pocessions". I understand the employees are given a percentage of what is collected so I guess they feel they can collect by any means. The fact of the matter is that my experience has not been a good one and I can tell you that what this so called 'employee' said about 'helping' you is not correct.
Its funny how all theses people are talking about Citi Financial as if they were forced to do loans. I have been working for Citi Financial for over 8 years, I am a person just like everyone else I have bills and a faamily also. I aslo strugale with my bills. But to blame us employees for the choices you made is not taking responsibility. I have encounter customer that refuse to pay, and when I give them the option to use the insurance they purchase the refuse to return the paper work so payments can be paid. I have offered customer adjustments to reduce their payments, they have turned around and stated that there is nothing in the world I can do to help, and at this point they haven given me the chance to help. All you customer act as if we have done all the wrong. But go back and you at your loans, have you helped with reducing your payment?, or have you got a deferment because at the time you called for it. We are the bad guy only when you as a customer have exhasted all the options we can offer. Once we have nothing but to collect, thats when you turn around and blame us. I am sure that people that took money from the equaty from their homes, you should not have used your house like a credit card. I can see people might have emergencies. Taking a 100k 2nd mortage to pay for your daughter wedding is not an emergency if there is no money then you cant do it. I have ran into rude associates, but its not always just one sided.
I rate Citifinancial with a BIG -0. I filed bankruptcy cause I couldn't afford the payments for a huge loan they made me take out on my vehicle. This has been a very long time ago. They never came and got the vehicle after the bankruptcy was discharged and the vehicle is junked. They stated I have to pay them to get the lien out of my name...WHAT a CROCK!!! That's why I filed bankruptcy to not give them crooks another dime. And people have told me that is not right because that's the purpose of bankruptcy. They are the crooked company there is out there and I don't recommend them to no one!
the way the customer service and managers talk to people is just wrong,I think this company needs to be more aware of who they hire to answer the phones..trying to get answers just to be put on hold for 3 hrs and then a manager comes on the phone and doesn't really answer your question, but your told by this manager that "you should be happy that you got that much information in the 3 hrs that you waited" who is running this company? he or she really needs to clean house and get people hired in this company that has college education and not just brought in off the streets! I give this company less then a one(1)!

I am reading all these letters and so many of them sound like me! First of all, you are right, the interest rate is SHAMEFUL. It's like taking money from a loan shark because that is how you're treated when you are late. We live paycheck to paycheck of my husband's, I'm trying to start a new business in the worst economy, and I have a family of four to feed, cloth, and take care of, not to mention mortgage, utilities, and so on. I have called their office to let them know when I would make a payment EVERY SINGLE TIME, but if I am late the harrassing phone calls start even though I TOLD them when I would pay. Even after I call them and tell them honestly when I can make the payment, THEY STILL CALL EVERY HOUR! I have asked them repeatedly NOT to call my husband's work and lo and behold, they call him and act like they don't understand why I'm upset that they have done that even though I have asked them not to. When they leave me messages they act as if we have a personal relationship and they are angry with me. They say their name, phone number, (no message) and then slam the phone down. How is this professional?? They also play 'good cop' 'bad cop'. One treat you like dirt and then another calls and acts really nice and tries to calm you down like they are on your side. I've also been lectured to about credit counseling, paying my bills, and so on. I wish I'd never gotten involved with them.

Please, However bad you need money and for what reason, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK!!!! Do Not. The employees at this bank are liars, swift talkers and care nothing other than there own paycheck. They are unethical, unprofessional and will cause you to lose everything that you have ever worked for. I applied for a loan with this bank in 2008, and in 2009 I became disable, of course I had the disability issurance because they pushed it, but encouraged me not to get the life insurance because after looking at my employment status they felt that I had enough insurance to cover this if I became deceased, so I listened and presently have no insurancce to pay this loan off if I expire, leaving a big burdened on my children. My home was paid off before coming to Citifinancial and even though the Insurance company have done their job by making the payments, Citifincial somehow applies the entire amount to interest, really this insurance just gives you 60 months to prepare to begin paying your loan after 60 months, and by the way, disability ins does not pay the loan off, it only pays 60 months, and it begin on the day you sign the loan for example I began my loan August 2008, according to my intelligence August 2009 is one year. I became disable November 2009 and I assumed that 60 months would be from the day of disability and not from the date of the loan, however not according to them, it is from the day of the loan. How ridiculous, so watch out for these swift, unethical liars, beware and DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would not recommend this Bank to anyone!! My husband took out a $14,000 note in Grand Island, Ne. 10yrs ago (this was a 5yr note) and he still owes $14,000. We have every recipt and totalled them up the other night and have already pd $18,000. Citi calls our house every day starting at 8am til 8pm, and at that it's every 15min. We have had enough of this Bull #### and have hired an Attorney. We are now going legal with this Lying, NO-GOOD-FOR-NOTHING, Pocket lining Bank. FYI: Citifinancial employees are told by Corpate to Pocket your Money and to mark your account as late. Please save all of your recipts for future reference, you may need them later. (This is a fact for my Cousin was a Branch Manager and resigned for this sole purpose).
I have had the some experience many of the others have had. I have had an account with them for several years. I have Cardiovascular disease. the Co. I worked for retired me on a medical. I am now on Disability. I had Taxes to pay and became ill the first part of August. My wife became ill and was Hospitalized the last part of August, we had no Insurance on her due to Cobra was $1,000/Mo. It cost me more than half of my check just to get her out of the Hospital. My Income has been cut more than half due to the Early Retirement. If I could work,I would and not complain 1 day. While trying to work out a compromise, the lady for Citifinancial became extremely abusive and we got into a shouting match. They called my 81 year ole Father and upset him. They have sent Letters by the Brown Truck. they call everyday, all day long. I am considering hiring a Lawyer to handle this mess with them. they can stick where the Sun don't shine and it ain't in their Mouth.
I borrowed a small amount of money from Citifinancial in Peace River, Alberta so that I could finish some landscaping. The loan is one year old now. A few months ago, the payment did not get pulled from my bank. They told me they "missed" the payment cycle and that I would have to mail in a cheque or come into the office to make payment as they could not attempt to withdraw it again. I explained that I work the same hours they do and that I am not available to go to the bank or to their office (one hour away from my home), which is why I was set up on automatic withdrawal. After them calling and hounding me several times a day, I finally had my daughter roll all of my change in the exact amount of the missing payment, and I mailed it to them. They signed for it at the time of pickup. They phoned a few days later and said that they cannot accept my money and that they were sending it back. They then sent it via bus to a town 45 minutes away which is where it still sits. This month, they are hounding me daily (sometimes hourly) because AGAIN they missed their payment cycle with the bank due to the long weekend and "forgot" to withdraw my payment out of my bank account. The money is still sitting in my account. I am afraid to send them anything via mail as they will not acknowledge it, or refuse it altogether, and they are very rude and condescending. They act like I am a criminal who is trying to rip them off, when really this is their mistake in the first place. I phoned to ask for a payout amount and the amount is $1000 more than the original loan....even after a year of payments. I will NEVER deal with these glorified office mafia people again!!! It has caused stress, health issues and an overall feeling of unwellness whenever my phone rings!!!
