We just had a false alarm--fire alarm went off due to smoke from cooking. When we tried to call to alert ADT of the false alarm, the "customer service" person had already called the fire department--they were supposed to check with us first--then refused to call the fire department to cancel the alarm. The "customer service" person instead argued about protocol until the fire department arrived to the false alarm. Total incompetence, with no accountability.

I entered into a contract for a home alarm system and medical alarm. I cancelled within the 3 days because I have read a lot of reviews about ADT [what a joke] and wireless systems . I faxed the form on May 9 2012 and mailed it the same day. They have confirmed they got the letter to cancel. I have done everything I am supposed to do per the contract. On the notice of cancellation form it states, if you cancel any payments made by you under the agreement will be retured within (10) business days following reciept of the letter. It has almost been 30 days so I called them to check on this. They said it takes up to 30 days for it to be returned. Also it says if you make the goods available to the seller and the seller does not pick them up within (20) days of the date of your notice of cancellation you may retain or dispose of the goods without further obligation. I was told when I called to call the dealer to set up an arrangement for them to pick them up, this is not what the contract states. Again it's been almost 30 days. I feel [ADT] is not sticking with the contract obligations. Why should I have to call the dealer when it says mail or deliver a signed and dated copy of this cancellation notice to [Aurora CO]. They should have done this I would think? I have done what the notice said so why am I obligated to make sure they get the system back when I haven't even been refunded my money. What a joke.

I have ADT for less than 3 weeks. The first tech (from auth. dealer "Protect Your Home")needed 10 hours!!! to install nine window and 5 door sensors. He also tried (for 3 1/2 hours) to install a motion detector but it didn't function at all and he had no second motion detector with him. (In my book that is being unprepared.) Then, he installed the system wire pinched between the outlet box and the outlet cover. However, during installation he got sick and puked in my backyard, he wrote a wrong address into my contract, one of the emergency phone numbers was totally wrong, and here comes the best: my system does not accept the bypass zone numbers, meaning I cannot sleep with an open window or in exchange, I cannot arm my system. All of this after the visit of 3 technicians within two weeks of service. Also, my alarm goes off because the zone numbers(for bypass)don't match, but I do not get a call from ADT to check up on the incident. As I called ADT the lady had no idea of what she was doing. She had me punch some numbers and it placed the fire/smoke detector out of order but it certainly did not fix the bypass problem. The same goes for the next person I talked to. I still have a motion detector zone that in reality I do not have. All of the above does not make me feel warm and fuzzy when it comes to my safety. Better yet, I was told that ADT is 'now' giving every customer free lifetime warranty. I read the contract and it clearly states that an extended warranty has to be purchased. Every single one of the countless phone calls I placed - every time I was told something different. At one time the system was quoted for $1,419.00, another one quoted $876.00, then the next was $640.00 (motion detector included, which I do not have.) The same goes for "fixing" the problems with my system. My next letter is going to the Attorney General's office, the BBB, and District Attorney's Office.

---BEWARE-----Adt of N.Y. dutchess co. The worst company to use after 2 weeks of no protection a rep. Came out to fix the unit and charged a service fee after owning the system for only 5 months a defective part on the communication module. My house could have been broken in or my family Raped or Murdered and no one would of known. If you like pissing your money away go with Adt.

This is the worst service I have ever recieved. The person on the phones are always nice but the problems never get resolved. I guess the corporate office does not read any of the comments. The equipment installed has not worked properly since it got the system. I really dont think anything will be fixed until my contract runs out and I have to pay for all new working equipment. I am very unhappy with the company and the service. I will tell anyone who will listen NOT to get ADT. After having the guy there for 2 hours. The alarm keeps going off. The last call they called the policy because Zone 12 went off. I do not have a Zone 12. Eventually the police will bill me or just quit answering the call. I hope it's not at night when I am home alone with my child. It has been more stressful getting all these false alarm calls that it was getting burglarized. I really do not know what recourse I have but I am going to investigate. ADT YOU STINK.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I SENT MY INSURANCE DOCUMENTS AND PROOF OF MY DEDUCTIBLE IS $1,000 AND EVERY TIME I TRY AND GET THIS DONE I AM TOLD SOMETHING DIFFERENT. THERE IS NO CLAIM REPORT BECAUSE THE DEDUCTABLE IS 1,000 THERE IS THE POLICE REPORT I SENT AS WELL. FOR 5 MONTHS EVERY PERSON I TALK TO SAYS TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I HAVE ALL THIS DOCUMENTED. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I have a Brinks system and never had a single problem with them. Service with ADT is appalling. All the reps and even the supervisors (or Leadership Team members, the BS name they call themselves) can do is offer to reschedule reschedule reschedule when no one turns up. We are now paying MORE and getting less and less, and they make it really clear that they don't give a royal crap what we think. Would you like to reschedule? Would you like to waste 12 more hours of your life waiting on a technician who never shows up? -- No doubt the people who do the actual work are probably underpaid and treated badly, because ALL of the other employees lie and cajole and posture rather than solve problems. I'm sorry there's nothing I can do, Ma'am ... would you like to reschedule .... blablabla And this my friends is the state of Corporate America ... liars and thieves!

MAYBE ADT SHOULD READ "THEIR" CUSTOMER REVIEWS!!!!! julie 3/27/12 This company lied to me from the beginning. They told us once we paid the initial $500+ we would be able to cancel at anytime and had 6 months to get a refund if we were not happy with their system. First we were told they didnt do wired systems anymore, then when we had problems in the first week we were told they would come out for a heft fee ($149). called three more times with the same problem and others we were told the same each time. When I finally got fed up and told them to cancel the whole thing they gave me another number to call and that person told me I couldnt get a refund or cancel without giving them a chance to remedy the problem. I gave them three chances to offer a remedy and they chose not to provide it I told them to pick up their system. Now they are harassing me with phone calls and letters and want to charge me early cancelation fees. What kind of company does this to its customers A LOUSY ONE! Jessica 3/23/12 My experience with ADT recently has been horrible. We were having trouble with our system. The motion sensor was not working, alarms saying doors were open when they were closed, panel working on backup battery, key fobs repeatedly stating there was a low battery when new they were replaced etc. We decided to hold off on a tech coming out until a sales rep could come out because we wanted to upgrade our system. The area sales rep did come out and discussed our options. After looking at our system and telling us that it was the worst one on the market we were very disgruntled. He said it would be almost $800 to upgrade and that we would have to sign another 3 year contract. We feel that the installer made many false promises at our initial install. And ever since our account was sold to ADT we have had nothing but poor customer service. Furthermore, I do not understand why it would cost so much to update our system. I see TV commercials and internet ads that allow new customers to get installed for $99 (after the $250 rebate) so why would it cost a current customer over $750? We have been faithful customers for a year and a half now. Is there anything that we can do to remedy our situation? I talked to someone from the corporate office that stated they would follow up on my situation, but have yet to hear anything else. I PURCHASHED the alarm for $435 plus tax paying $42 month which they raised to $47 without informing me. I am in a two year lease renting an apartment in NEW YORK and moving. When the sales rep sold it to me he stated that I only needed to keep it for 6 month's after that I was able to cancel.Anyway after 13 months I canceled and the customer service rep tells me that I owe over $700 in termination fees! Evelyn Guillochon 3/14/12 We were with BRINKS for many years, then they became Broadview, then to ADT. Many years ago we contracted with ADT, and as soon as the contract expired, we went with BRINKS. Brinks offered fantastic service and the employees were great. However, since the change, and having to contract with ADT, we've had the worst service in the country. At least for the past 15 years or so, our monthly monitoring fee was $33.19. Now ADT has come up with a crazy billing system, we've not missed a payment, and in fact the bill was automatically paid by the bank, yet now we've jumped from the normal $33.19 to a rip roaring payment due of $60.40. I've tried conversing with their employees to no avail. In fact the last time I finally hung up on the rude/hateful/nasty woman. I could have argued until I was blue in the face, but she would never have comprehended. I am now filing a complaint with the BBB, and hopefully this problem will be resolved. Doubtful though. Even the technicians that are now employed by ADT, hate it, and they are constantly receiving complaints from the customers. WHY IN THIS COUNTRY CAN'T SOMETHING BE DONE TO THE COMPANIES SUCH AS ADT? I've asked what our penalty would be to break the contract, although we have been with them for probably 17 years, but having to sign a contract for them to repair our system without a charge, we will be penalized for an astronomical sum of about $400.00! I'll keep it simple any company that makes you pay 75% of your remaining contract is not 100% behind there contract. I have only 4 months left and it has been aweful. I want to say I think it preposterous and extremely bad public relations that billing continues 30 days beyond end of service. And this in a day of instant communication and in a business built on instant communication. Consequently should I find myself less than fully satisfied with my new company, Fleenor Security Systems, I will not be inclined to consider a return to ADT. 3/5/12 ADT "Customer Loyalty" is by far the rudest I have ever dealt with. I was trying to cancel a service and was told I would be billed an additional $34.99. I tried to cancel a year ago, but I would have had to pay over $300 to do so. So I waited to call back when their representative told me to do so. I finally had to call the ADT Corporate Headquarters to get the problem resolved. They were extremely helpful and said they would resolve the problem in 24 hours and I should not be billed. If anyone needs their toll free number it is 1-866-561-0952. We are so disgusted with ADT. A month or so ago we locked ourselves out of home then realized we had a front door key, however chain lock was on so it triggered the alarm. I get on my cell , which by the way is supposed to be the immediate backup for home phone, to tell them we were the culprits....They did not even have the alert and 10 minutes into conversation finally got it. I was pissed to say the least. We could have been dead or robbed blind by that time. So we had them to come out, at our expense I might add to check our system. Was told all was fine, but that the box was a contractors box and that ADT would never have put that in. So how are we to know the difference. Well this weekend we were away and come home to 3 recordings that our battery is low and will not transmit a signal...backup battery, how is that? Why didn't the rep find that when he checked our system. So I get someone on the phone, 10PM and she says , oh it is a courtesy call to remind you that you need a new battery....sales scam? Then at midnight we are awakened with another call. Today I talked to a "supervisor" and I put that mildly that said, oh no you have a low battery but no explanation why this was not found when we complained earlier and paid for a service call. So our choice is to pay the early termination fee or virtually go without an alarm system. We pack and of course that is the security we would use if we are home with no hesitation at all I might add, but if we are gone duh, no service. I do not recommend them at all. Get a pit bull and throw ADT away. Total rip off.

I just received a call at 3:45 AM from an automated ADT service line that notifying me that I have a low battery. I called the line back and at this hour only could reach the monitoring desk(the desk that you call if your alarm is going off, which mine is not). I waited on hold for 6 minutes(what if my alarm was going off? 6 min would be an eternity). The lady was professional but unapologetic, explaining the "system" is set to call automatically and said she would set it so that a live person would call me in the future. I ask her why it wasnt already set for that, or at least so the automated line would not call at 3:45 AM and she kept saying because that's how the system is programmed. I EXPLAINED IF MY SECURITY SYSTEM IS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO PROGRAM THEIR SYSTEM TO NOT CALL ME ON A LOW BATTERY AT 3:45 IN THE MORNING THEN I NEED A NEW SYSTEM AND ASKED IF I WAS ON CONTRACT AND SHE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE SALES DEPARTMENT DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS, I GUESS BECAUSE I WOULDN'T WANT TO DISTRUB ANYONE IN SALES AT 3:45 AM IN THE MORNING. She just didnt get it at any point in the conversation, so I'm cancelling my service

if you want a monitoring system who transfers you about 4-5 times a ph call and still you get no where til you have to call corporatr office and still get no where go where ADT, if you want a company that is willing to help you on the first ph call without being transfered get someone else. i called last week and was transfered 4 times then i called corporate office for again lack of help. ADT likes to take your money but doesnt like to speak to you on the ph, the lack of customer service is high rrated with ADT, i beleive this si why they give their systems away for free so they can get you to go with then they refuse to help you.

ADT has one of the most pathetic customer service departments that I have ever dealt with. Had my carbon monoxide detector go off at 5am on Friday and they said that it was due to be replaced, so happy that I was never notified of this via text, mail or email. Instead, I had to evacuate my family to the front lawn in the pouring rain. They then proceed to tell me that it's not an emergency and they'll send someone in a week, I told them that this was unacceptable and I could have a new alarm system installed much quicker than that and they said that a tech would be here that day. NEVER showed or called, after 15 calls and the alarm sounding in the am hours of Sunday I called again and to no avail. Not one person in ADT is capable or knowledgeable about their own system. It is an absolute abomination !!!!

I HAVE TO SAY EVERYTIME I CALL ADT I GET TRANSFERED ABOUT 4 TIMES AND THIS LAST CALL WHICH I AM ON NOW I AM ON MY 3RD REPRESENTATIVE AND NOW IM BEING TOLD THAT THEY CANT HELP ME, I PAY MY BILL EVERY MONTH I BET THEY ARE TAKING MY MONEY AND IM NOT EVEN BEING MONITORED, ADT ISNT WORTH THE MONEY WHEN YOU CANT EVEN GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE TO HELP YOU

I am very disgusted with the service. First of all ADT stole my money from my account. Even after I requested a down grade they still charged me the previous rate. No one bothered to call me back. They can't follow instructions and seems they need to go back to school to learn the basics.

We spoke after the last email and I again told you that we did not want the service agreement. I have also spoken to several people in your customer service department regarding this to no avail. Because of a lack of customer service on ADT's part this problem has escalated to the point where they will turn off service by May 1st if the service charges are not paid. Since we are locked into a contract with a 90% early termination fee it is not financially prudent to not pay the balance due. Perhaps this was your game plan all along. Be rest assured that I would never enter into another agreement with ADT nor would I ever recommend their services to anyone. Your lack of support is most definitely not appreciated.

ADT has horrible service, period. They have not stood by their product or service after a recent break in and it's a shame they've managed to mistreat customers this way for so long. Customer service is completely non-existent at this company and you find this out at a time when you need them the most. Please do yourself a favor and find a different channel for home security. We have been a customer for several years for several households and will be definitely canceling our bs service.

ADT is a joke. I have called many times informing the company that someone was entering my apartment without tripping the alarm. I asked if they could tell when a protected area has been deleted, and they said no. I found out of the internet that it was possible to delete a protected area and it would not be reported at the monitoring center. Everyday I come home someone has been in my apartment without disarming the alarm. This company should not be in business. I am trying to cancel my contract. Please, if anyone else is having this problem, please post your complaint. We need to bring this to the public's attention. You did not misplace or lose it, someone came in your home and took it.
