On August 21, 2011, my owner called PETCO to make an appointment for me in their grooming salon. This is the PETCO off 15-501 in Durham, NC. My mommy was very nice to the lady in asking to schedule an appointment. The person on the other end asked for my first and last name which was given. I know I made somewhat of a fuss the last time I was there because the groomer was very rough and mean to me. I though she would have come to work with a little dog bedside manner, but there wasn't an ounce in her. So of course I was a little irritable like all the other dogs that had an appointment on the same day. Well, can you believe, they told my owner that I could not come back because of my last experience, and that they only had one groomer and that I am a too aggressive. I've had my mane tame there many of times before and had no problem, but for whatever reason they turned away my money. I am a maltese and like to like nice. I guess I'll have to take my money elsewhere. This manager by the name of Daniell even got on the phone rudely to confirm what the receptionist had already explained to my owner. And I thought dogs had it bad. That manager was so rude and hung up the phone on my mommy when she asked her could she record her statement because me and my mommy where both in a state of ahhhhh over such unprofessionalism. PETCO should be ashame of themselves to call themselves an animal supply store. THEY OUTRIGHT REFUSED TO CUT MY HAIR BECAUSE OF THEIR BEING SHORT STAFFED AND INEXPERIENCED WORKERS. WE NEED TO PROTEST THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR TAKING OUR MONEY AND GIVING US NOTHING. Sincerely, Cotton J. Durham, NC 27707

PETCO HAD A COMPUTER FAILURE AND DECIDED THEY COULD NOT WAIT ON ANY CUSTOMERS. I ASK, "CAN YOU DO MATH AND COUNT MONEY"? THE ANSWER WAS YES. BUT, THEY HAVE TO SCAN THE ITEMS. I TOLD THEM TO ADD MY BILL, TAKE MY CASH AND SCAN THE BAR CODES LATER. THAT WAS TOO MUCH FOR THEM TO "COMPUTE". YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID. THEY LET MY $112 PLUS TAX WALK OUT THE DOOR. AND, OTHERS TOO. I'M SELLING ALL MY STOCK IN TPG CAPITAL...THESE FOLKS WILL FOLD ONE DAY.

I wanted to do a 0 but it wasn't there. I have been shopping at the Petco store in El Cerrito Plaza Shopping in El Cerrito, Ca Center since I got my first dog over three years ago. I have always been satisfied with the service that I have received till now. In June the Pet Fresh refrigerator went out and they had to get a new one. Today is Augus12th and there still isn't a refrigerator in the store. I have tried her on other food and she will eat them for a short time and then refuse to eat. I have checked with the store almost every week or two to see if it has been replaced. Today I had to go all the way to Pinole to Pet Smart and also Pet Food Express to try to find her something to eat. No one is carrying it and I was told that in Concord they probably carry it. Well Concord is at least 30 or 40 minutes from my house each way. I know I'm not the only person looking for it. I was told that it had been ordered by the help and also the dog trainer. The trip to day was 9 miles out and 9 miles back and the only thing I could get was raw ground up chicken which I hope she will eat but I don't want to feed that to her due to unsanitary conditions that I have to put up with. I don't want her to get sick. I would like an explanation as to why it has taken so long to replace this. I went to Escondido for a visit and found it there if I had know that it wouldn't have been fixed I would have purchased more as I used a cooler to keep it cold on the way home. We have a two year old Pekingese,Chihuahua mix originally we were told that she would be no larger than a ten pound dog and she is now twenty pounds. So this summer we decided to go to our local petco to buy a new harness for because the lead harness we previously purchased from petco she had outgrown. I found a petco brand harness that pulled only at the chest and mind you there were no instructions on how to put it on. I asked three employees and not a one knew how to do it themselves and one of the guys happened to say he was sorry but they are not really trained on how to use many of the products and hes never owned a dog. "What a surprise right?" I then asked if he had internet access in the office and if he could look up the instructional video he then said he did not have access at that time but I could always purchase the $30 dollar harness take it home and try it out and bring it back. I debated this as I know from previous experiences with petco that to return something is like asking them to drill a hole in cement and they can tend to make a fuss. I then purchased the harness as that time we had family plans that included our K-9 companion and did not want to miss out on the fun. I use my ipod and low and behold I found the instructional video that played for under a minute and thus learned the harness was multifunctional. We tried the Harness on our dog and the Medium we learned was to big and the dog could get loose so we put our old one back on. Given this the same day we tried to return the harness for a smaller size and the store clerk accused us of using and bringing it back This gave me a "WTH" moment I was so mad I told them I would never refer another person here to do business and I would never set foot in petco. My family and I turned to petsmart and I was surprised to receive much better quality service and very Knowledgeable people, I am now a regular customer at petsmart. Don't use petco stores employees are under trained, crude and careless.

I went to Petco to purchase my regular dog food in the 15/lb. size as I always do. They did not have the 15lb size so they told me if I buy 3 5lb bags they would give me a $5 couon to make up the difference. I accepted this thinking I was getting the same price as the 15lb bag. I went home and did my math and realized that even with the discount of $5, I was still paying more. I called Petsmart to verify what the price was for my regular 15lb bag. They gave me the price which was around $3 cheaper. I called Petco back to see if they would work with me to reduce the charge. I spoke to the manager and she told me there was nothing else she could do for me. So I brought back the $57 dollars of items I had puchased and told them I wanted a refund of everything. The cashier could not beleive that the manager was willing to lose a customer over $3. He was the only one with brains in the store. He apoligized and refunded everything. I called Petsmart to see if they would honor the Petco coupon I had and they said the would. So I went to Petsmart and made my purchase and was greeted by a welcoming team of professionals. Don't go to Petco in LEESBURG, VA. They are the worst. As a business owner myself, I would have fired the manager on the spot for such poor customer relations over $3. Shame on you Petco!

Wanted to buy a gift card for my niece in New Mexico. I live in Chicago. The manger at the Harwood heights store was so rude I asked if there was a Petco in New Mexico . He told me i should look it up on my home computer. I can't believe that the store has any listings . He was so rude , and didn't have time for me. Sorry just lost a $50.00 sale

I went to Patchogue longisland Petco to buy a frag,the two girls in the fish area where very rude. First,they refused to sell me a fish cause I have a ten gallon tank(that these two morons sold me a month befor with the same type of fish) She is going on and on trying to tell me I need a bigger tank. I have been doing salt and fresh longer then these two been alive. And as for the frag I was going to purchase, well if you have been to the Patchogue Petco and seen that SO CALLED frag tank,then you know why I left emty handed! These two need to learn how to take care of a reef tank. Brown slim growing all over the glass and some of the frags. Went to country critters in sted. The people over their said they here a lot about those girls. How they make up rules that don't exist. Anyway, I will never shop for fish or supplies at the Patchogue Petco again. Those girls need to learn more about reef and fresh water fist befor opening there mouth! I wish I could up load a picture of this frag set up. Well,it back to Aqua Hut for me. A little more money. But you know the old saying(you get what you pay for)

I walked into a Petco at 6200 S. Dixie Highway in Miami to see a trainer named Leonel manhandling a Border Collie. He told me "You can't train them with only positive reinforcement. Sometime you have to do negative reinforcement." I said that I had trained my Service Dog with Positive methods. He said "You trained it? You mean therapy dog." I said "No, he is a service dog. I am disabled and he helps me to manage activities of daily living that I cannot do for myself." He then told me that he was a disabled vet and that he had a service dog. He whipped out an ID with a picture of a pit bull (a breed that is banned in Miami). ADA does not require certification, paperwork or even a vest, but pretending that you are disabled to fly free or take your dog everywhere is a federal and state crime. People claim their pit bulls are service dogs to get around the legal issues of owning one in this city. There are scams all over the internet that sell dumb people kits to make their dog look like a service dog. I offered to give him a copy of ADA laws but he said he knew them. I guess he learned them on the same site that scammed him for an ID card. Perhaps Petco should give their employees IQ tests. I was so shocked by how rough he was being with this Border Collie that I spoke to the manager. He did not care. He told me that Leonel had trained military dogs. I wonder if they checked that out? I also wonder if military training has anything to do with training a happy pet. Many military dogs live out their lives in a crate. Petco, you need to want to learn and be at least curious when people tell you that there might be a problem. The best way to tell if someone is faking a service dog is if they pull out an ID. The government requires nothing but your honesty that you are legally disabled and that your dog assists you. If you fake it you will get busted.

For several months (starting in May 2012 to present) Petco had incorrectly listed our residential home phone # on their web site as the contact # for several of their new store openings all over the country. This has resulted in hundreds of calls, tying up our home phone and awakening my family at all hours. When requested to correct this error, Petco representatives were not only difficult to reach but often curt and completly unconcerned. After finally managing to get the web site error corrected, the incorrect # still appears whenever anyone tries to contact Petco via a Google search. At this point we are considering terminating our home phone service which we have had for over 40 years. We are still unable to get any help from Petco in this regard, nor any offer of compensation for this harassment, frustration and invasion of our privacy. They just could care less!!! In the end it will most likely require legal action.

i had a fish tank thermometer that broke and i needed to call poison control and im dissapointed how i paid a product that could cost more and deadly!

I have been purchasing the Petco Training pads for the past 6 months for our new puppy. We have been very pleased. They are superior to all other brands. UNFORTUNATELY, Petco has chaned vendors and the new Petco brand pad is NOT THE SAME. IT IS HORRIBLE, to say the least!!! The pad does not hold urine, it leaks and does not conceal the order. As with the intial pads, my puppy is not attracted to this new pad. PLEASE, PLEASE bring the old pads back. I called over 15 locations in my area, and went to several locations to purchase what they had remaining of the old pads. I now have several months of pads....but what will I do when I run out?????

So today I took a trip down to my local Pet Co to buy some cute little toys for my grandmothers new puppy. I found what I wanted and then decided to just look around a bit. I was observing the Russian Turtles that were set up in a SMALL habitat (it was really crowded because there were like six turtles in one tiny space. They need to change that). I was considering purchasing one. So I went to take a picture to show my brother to get his opinion. But just after I snapped the picture, I was rudely approached and told that it was against policy to take pictures of the animals in the store. I didn't bother asking why, but I was so upset about how rudely I was approached and just left. I put back the toys I had picked out and everything. I'm definitely NOT going back there again. I felt like I was being accused of a crime!! I mean seriously, it's just a STINKING PICTURE!! So I deleted it and forgot about the poor little turtles I almost bought from them. I actually feel bad for those things, having to live their lives in that unsanitary dump they call a pet store.--Macomb, MI

The manager from Hell-Tim----Yesterday My daughter,our new six month yorkiepoo named Hope and I went to exchange a swimuit and shoes that are tosmall for her we recieved them as a gift. All we wanted was a bigger swimsuit and shoes. Because we didnt have a reciept and it can be looked up by the way the manager would not exchange them for a bigger size. my daughter asked the manager whos a total jerk what should we do with the small swimwuit thats to small for my puppy? he answered in a rude nasty way I dont know what to tell you I dont care what you do with the swimsuit and I will not exchange them for a bigger size it was xs she needs s My daughter was so upset and so was i I asked again and got no results i asked him for his name an a number to complain to a higer management he said no I was mad as hell I have been giving my hard earned money to buy everything for my two dogs two parrots and three cats for six years and they all get their shots there too. I went to Commack Petco store they replaced the swimsuit now Hope the puppy can happiley swim in her pool with a swimsuit that fits a 5 dollar coupon towards other items with no problem they were so nice andgave me the number to complain about the selden manager. on the drive home I was so angry with the manager at the selden store I went in to give him a piece of my mind i told him how nice the commack store was he said he didnt care and could not understand the problem he had in getting bigger swimsuit for my pupppy he was so rude I again asked for his name and a higer up manager finally he told me his name and I verfied the name with a co-woker I told him he was heartless mean and that he didnt care that my poor puppy was too big for her new swimwuit at this point his girfriend walks in asks whats the problem I told her to mind her own business that it does not concern her and hes supposted to be working not hanging around with his girlfriend on company time I told her to shut up when she atarted to mouth off to me on something that does not concern her he said he would call the cops because I am harrassing them so I sai go ahead call them I told him again that hes heartless and cruel to a six month puppy he said he didnt care that the swimsuit is to small its my problem I was just happy the commack store was nice and exchanged it well the following day I went back and told a higer up manager about the nasty experience he said he was angry that I filed a complaint but he said he was sorry for the nasty experience I had while I was looking for toys for Hope while I was waiting for my daughter to buya carrier she heard the co-woker tell the manaer who just said sorry to me to keep an eyn on the lady wearing black to watch her that I was harrissing Tim the manager the night before wow I will never shop there again and none of my friends or pets will set foot or paw it there aghain I was there for six years until I met the manager from Hell Tim petco should be where the pets dont gothe Selden petco sucks from now on I am going to petsmart too bad for petco they just lost seven animals and they are about to lose more paying pets and owners all because of onebad apple Tim you should be fired

I went to pick my dog up from being groomed. With tip, I spent $80. I've had her groomed there before, and the groomer is very good. (5 stars for her). We have spend hundreds of dollars at the PetCo in Baytown, Texas on all kinds of pet supplies, besides grooming. I wanted to take a picture of a lizard and a frog to show my son as he was interested in getting one or the other for a pet. I was approached by a worker who talked to me like I was a shoplifter! She was told me I couldn't photograph their animals in their habitat. Habitat? A glass aquarium? I asked why, and she said because it could end up on the Internet. I wasn't going to put it on the Internet, but if I was, SO WHAT? Wouldn't that be free advertising? I don't like the way I was confronted and talked to. I even had a basket with merchandise that I walked off and left. I will go to the privately owned pet shop in town, even though it costs a little more. I have recommended the PetCo grooming service to several friends who have taken my advise. No more. I'm telling everyone who will listen how I was treated.

PETCO might claim to be animal friendly however they care nothing about their employees. The Winchester VA store has such incompetent management that they were given a vacation request 3.5+ months ago and still couldn't make the vacation happen for that employee. Anyone who cared about their employees and had that much time to get the shift covered you'd think they would have called another store or something for help covering the shift if needed.
