I LOVE FAMILY DOLLAR!!! BUT THE STORE AT 7108 I HATE SHOPPING THERE IN COLUMBUS , OHIO 43222 .. THE MANAGER A WOMAN IS SO VERY RUDE TO HER EMPLOYEES ASWELL AS THE CUSTOMERS.THERE ONE EMPLOYEE A BROWN HEADED YOUNG LADY,ALWAYS ON THE CORDLESS PHONE TALKING HER BUSINESS"ISN"T THAT WASTING COMPANY TIME OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT "". ALSO WHENEVER THERES SOMETHING ON SALE MOST OF THE TIME IT ISNT BEING DONE PROPERLY.. THERE IS ONLY ONE RESON I GO TO THAT FAMILY DOLLAR,IS 1 YOUNG LADY NAME ORA, I THINK THAT'S HER NAME.SHE IS SO NICE AND ALWAYS HAS A SMILE.SHE IS A WONDERFUL EMPLOYEE THERE,SHE IS THE ONLY REASON I SHOP AT THAT FAMILY DOLLAR.

I live in Pittsburgh Pa. On February 28Th, one of your stores in Crafton,Pa was robbed at gun point. The next day, the 2 employees that were working during that robbery were fired from your store, and told they didn't do enough to protect the money! What a shame that you don't value your employees lives more than money!!!!!I have been a long time customer in your stores, however I don't think I will shop there anymore because of how you treated these Employees!I hope others do the Same. Just what did you want those poor employees to do in that situation......I would have done the Same thing with a gun pointed at Me! I would Not work for you.

I live in Dundalk, Maryland. I do not own a car therefore I shop at the Family Dollar in my neighborhood. I shop there 2-3 times a week store #4363. Over the last 4 years the store had made some improvements on appearance. The last few months that I have been shopping there the new employees are rude and slow. The cashiers her upset when they have a line, held personal conversations with each other or family/ friend while customers waited. We also have to ring a bell now and wait for a cashier to come to the front of the store. The store also seems to always have boxes and carts in the aisles, two people can't fit through. Today in the pooring down rain I had to go out to pick up some things ie. Milk, trashbags etc. I got my 2 & 3 year holds ready with umbrellas in my double stroller. After trying to move through the store with the aisles crowed I got in line when I noticed a sign " nothing over $20 bills" I asked Dawn ablout it and told her I only had a $100 bill. She said she the sign was from yesterday but she wouldn't take my $100 dollar bill for a $30 purchase. I thought that was incredibly rude, it was about 11am so it wasn't like they just opened. So I left the store and cam home, soaked might I add. I went out in the rain with my kids for nothing!! I will not shop at that store again, I will walk a little further and spend my $100 or so a week at the Dollar General store.

I was in the Family Dollar Store #8788 316 S. University Blvd.on Feb. 4 at 8.16 pm. As we, myself and my oldest daughter, entered the store,we turned to the right and went on the first enclosed aisle. At the computer they use for job applications and such, were two men at the computer having a graphic discussion with a women in a chat room. I could not believe it! I went home and sent an email to the only one I could fine for Family Dollar and left my complaint. Two days later I received a phone call from the Manager who proceeded to tell me it must have been people putting in an application and assured me that the staff did not conduct themselves that way. I knew he was one of the men just by his defensiveness. I went to the store and recognized the one of the men that was at the computer that night. Turned out to be the store manager. UNBELIEVABLE!

I just went to one of your family dollar store # 6282 around 8:30pm mountain time.I was trying to purchase two of the Clairol hair color by using your family dollar coupon which is $1 off when you purchase 2. I also had two manufacture coupons which they were $2 off one Clairol color box. The cashier Helen right away was a little rude, she said I can't use these, we are not giving things away for free. I said they are not going to be free iam going to pay. The other employee step in and said I cant use both coupon it has to be only one,one manufature or family dollar coupon, they dont double she said. Well by going through this i didnt end up purchasing these products. I felt bad the way they were talking to me, i didnt want to fight it, so i just left. I read in your coupon policy that you can Only use ONE Manufacturer coupon and ONE Family Dollar coupon can be used per ITEM in a transaction.Duplicate coupons in one transaction are accepted as long as there is an item purchaed for each coupon. Am I understanding your policy incorrectly? If not, can you please help this family dollar store (Store#6282 7260 W 3500 South Magna, UT 84044-2447)understand their policy a little more. So we that are trying to save a little money dont make us feel bad for using coupons. thank you so much

Would some of the corporate office people come visit our little Family Dollar In Trinidad,Co.?????? People call it the dirty dollar store. I can't tell you people when the door handle has been wiped off and the rug going into the store is filthy!! Hard telling when the floors were scrubbed last. Come check it out. And they sell food !!! The people that run it don't seem to mind. Maybe you all don't care but it sure looks bad. If it gets cleaned up I know you all care if not your just in it for the money.!!!!!

I am long time consumer of Family Dollar. Today I stored in on the way home from work to pick up cold & cough medicine for my child. While I was in the store, a familiar thief was recognized by the manager and she asked the man to leave because he was known for stealing or she would call the police. The man did not leave & proceeded to the back of the store. While on the phone making the call the manager followed him to the back to watch what he was doing when all of a sudden the man rushes the front door. The mgr. gets smashed into the door by this animal and finally makes it out of the store. This pissed me off because it's only two women in this store with no ...protection no security guards and this man comes in on a regular basis because he knows nothing is going to be done. So Family Dollar why doesn't this store have cameras and security? Heck even the other stores have out where you hear over the speaker phone someone asking if the employees are ok. This store does not.and these girls have to stay in there by themselves not knowing if this guy is going to come back. One of the girls had tears in her eyes-they shouldn't be subjected to that type of danger with no kind of protection. Store is located in Detroit at I-96& Telegraph

Your store in Bonham, Tx, is being managed by one of the "Town potheads". I have been to the store on several occasions where the manager was in no shape to be working, let alone, managing the store, alone. I have personally experienced her smelling like she bathed in liquor, and still drunk, running the store, alone. Also on a regular basis, you can walk past her and smell the stinch of marijuana. I have reported this behavior to who I am told is her District Manager, named Bill. Bill seemed truly concerned, yet the store manager still demonstrates the same behaviors. My company does random drug testing for all employees, and I strongly encourage you to do the same. I am sure you will find your business will improve.

I work for family dollar and have done so for 3yrs now. I enjoy my job very much. Yes it is stressful but what job isn't. I have been having problems with my manager and her rude behavior towards customers and coworkers. I called my dm and she said she would talk to her as this wasn't the first warning for my manager. I just got yelled at recently by my manager for reporting her. I thought that stuff was to be confiditial. after we have taken classes on it and we have a poster posted to call a friend they are hear to help. now i think i need to call my rvp of my region. hopefully this gets results. I love my job and my customers. I love working for the company. i think that there is just some not so nice people that work for them as well. i think its unfair to be afraid to go to work and not know what kind of mood your boss is going to be in. I have seen her so mad she has thrown stuff in our stockroom. I am very worried that my job may be on the line because of reporting her. note i have not ever been written up for anything and have worked every single one of my shifts never missed a day. i don't want this to affect peoples judgement of our company because it is a good company. I just want there to be fairness.

Really think you need to get rid of Tim at the corp office. He is a control monster. The stores are no better since he took over the company. He doesn't have the values a person at the top should have. He doesn't care about his buyers/employees just that they do want he wants them to do. The idea of having a hk office and doing your own importing is an idea many retailers have tried and walked away from ---that's why Li & Fung is so big. Walmart and Target have LF now.

Im amazed at the negativity, and bashing on this site! I work 24 hrs straight, over night...hardly ever see 52 hrs....but. come on people! There is no gun to your head, you DO NOT have to work for this company.....if your that miserable; leave! And for the remarks on payroll....it is what it has been for seven years, get over it......it will not change! This is a very stressful job BUT it is rewarding....this company is huge and growing! If it was all as bad as put on this site.....it would have failed! As for the DMs and the RVPs....dont make judgement on all of them for that is unfair! My last two DMS and RVPS are not monsters. My Dmy dm just quit.....broke my heart so bad, I still cry. So before everyone throws stones.....check yourselfs please!

I too am an employee of Family Dollar and have seen how our unfairly some managers have been treated. We have just been remodeled and while the store has the possibility of looking great, payroll cuts have forced us into a situation that prevents us from doing our jobs. Our manager is forced to work 80-90 hours a week, often by herself. Our DM calls nearly everyday fussing about payroll..Really!!!A billion dollar company and they have people alone at closing time in order to make payroll.This is not only dangerous, it is sickening. I am currently in college and can't wait until the day I am through with this company. I can assure you, this is the closest thing to a sweat shop American has. My manager asked her DM for help getting the store back in order after the 3 large trucks we got for the Re-Grand opening and he said there was no payroll for extra help and she needed to watch her payroll. Her response was so what do you want me to do work open to close by myself and throw freight? His response, do what you have to do. Really, Mr. DM!!! The Family Dollar in Nelsonville, Ohio is awesome. I work there. Everyone's so friendly. Its a great working environment. Love it there, and wouldn't want to work at any other store. :)

I have worked for this company just over 2 years and I have worked my fucking ass off for a company that could give a shit about its employees. I have finally become one of the keyholders aka "managers" if thats what you want to call it, and I instantly regretted the promotion. They overwork you to the point of absolute exhaustion, They expect you to do these impossible tasks with damn near pennies for a budget. And They under pay you so much. A friend of mine works at a different company as a cashier....a freaking cashier not even a manager and gets paid more then me. I used to love retail but now I can't stand it I feel trapped by this company I've currently saved up about 2 grand, And I'm trying to save about 2 more so that I can quit and have a couple of months adequate time to find a new job. If anyone wants to work at Family Dollar DONTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! IT WOULD BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST NOT TO!!!!

I am an Assistant manager for Family Dollar and it is a poor excuse for a company. At the store I work at payroll is so bad that the manager, me and the other key holder are forced to work long periods of time by ourselves. We can't get anything done, long lines of customers getting impatient and leaving and then the higher ups get pissed when nothing is getting done and sales are poor. The store cannot be run properly with things like that are happening. In my opinion corparate does not know what are they doing when it comes to running a company if they were smart they would go back to the 9 to 8 hours opening/closing Mon-Sat and 10 to 6 on Sunday that would save more money on payroll instead they are losing more money then what they are making staying open 9 to 9 we don't even get customers after 8pm. They ought to close our store permanently and put us all out of out misery. Also there is always something going wrong with the registers and we have to reboot which makes even worse when we work alone.

i worked as a asssistant manager in hudson newyork for family dollar and i love my manager when she left to go to another store we got a new manager chris we had words because he wrote up half the employees after he was there for two days so as a manger i told him that was not right writing up employees for stupid stuff so i told him i was going home to calm down so me him were going get into it so i left and he called me on my cell and said come back tommorrow so i did he told me are we ok know i said yes so after a week later of working he comes to me and says im terminated i just think thats wrong a week lator family dollar miss treats their managers cuts hours and i called corporate they did nothing at all this is by far the worst company to work for

I'm currently a Family Dollar employee and am ashamed to admit to that. This is by far one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. They over work you, under pay you, and are extremley rude to thier employees. The only difference with this company compared to others is that even the DM, RVP, and every other so called " big shot " could care less about there employees. It's pretty sad that they have an "open door" policy yet refuse to listen about what is going on in there stores. I had a certain issue within my store so myself and other fellow employees set up a group meeting with our DM and it didn't solve a thing because he refused to look at tapes and took the managers side. Hmm...then you wonder why majority of your stores are going to shit. Maybe if you'd listen to the " little people ". Point of the matter here is I'd never recommend anyone to work for this company and I'm looking forward to the day I can up and quit.

I had to laugh at many of the comments on this site..at least the ones with proper spelling and grammar. No company is perfect, but you dont make 7+ billion a year pissing all your customers off. I have had good service for the most part with this company before going to work for them and I do enjoy my job. I personally think that most of the people that posted here were really repeats and just want to bitch. I especially question the "employee" comments where they want to act like the customer is a nuisance... In the end, if you are truly pissed, make the choice to shop elsewhere, but be fair... I doubt it really is as bad as you state here.

Yes Hello I visted 2 of your stores in atlanta Ga. on yesterday(Campbellton Rd, Greenbriar UnionCity&CollegePK. Iwas trying 2 purchase the trunk collection all three stores were out. However I did purchase medium and was charged fifthteen dollarsa piece for them. My thing is that the extra large was just Twelve dollars I tried to explain this to the clerk but she told me that was the correct price. can u enlighten me on this?
