I worked for Dollar General for a year and it was all good at first till we got a new manager. This manager does NOT deserve her job. I was a 3rd key over there and put up with the crap for so long because I needed a job. This manager is a liar and a cheater. I got accused several times of stealing and when I told her to investigate it she didnt want to she asked me to put money in the bathroom and she would go find it. she has had me lie to the DM for her. She sits outside almost her entire shift and talks on the phone and has everyone else do her job. she clocks people out early not letting them get paid for their work. everytime i went to count down a drawer she had me clock out. she had me run to the bank on several occasions to drop a deposit and was told by her that is not my job and i better never tell anyone because she would lose her job. So so so much more to complain about and i will take this information wherever i need to to get some answers. oh not to mention she never gave me my raise for my promotion which caused me to quit. Now i cannot find a job anywhere because this woman is telling lies about me.this is a poor excuse of a manager and i hope one day she has to answer to a higher power and they are not going to be pleased.

I just don't understand why one person in the whole store can only do returns and she was on her lunch break and couldn't assist me. If your going to run a business, you need to have a manager on duty the whole time the store is open. I was told to come back in about 30 mins,and she would be back from her break. I do not have time to make several trips a day to the Dollar General store in Smackover, when I live 20 minutes from the store. I think this company needs to revamp it's policy to benefit the customers. This store is located in Smackover, Arkansas.

I called the corporate office to get some satisfaction for a rude store here in Beverly Hills Florida only to get transferred to a customer service agent in the Philippines who spoke broken English and could not understand me. I called the corporate office on my dime no 800 # and it took me 6 calls to get someone who actually spoke English. I was transferred several times only to get the Philippines again or voice mail. Finally after my 6th call as I was speaking the corporate operator transferred me in the middle of my sentence and I got a customer service agent in Illinois. The agent was not very helpful and cared less about my complaint informed me that the District Manager will be informed and never gave me a solution to the problem. Dollar General cleaned up its stores but not its service so I will continue to go to Walmart even though DG is 5 miles closer. The cost of the Item I purchased at DG was $4.50 the cost of the item at Walmart was $3.97, as usual DG is more expensive and less pleasant to shop at.

Being a frequent shopper at the local Dollar General Store in Mayflower, Ark I have to complain about how messy , dirty ( trash on floor) and how hard it is now to reach around the cartons waiting to be unloaded just to reach shelf items. The big cartons also plug the isles....... can this not be corrected even if it means your new rude store manager looses his job?????????

I would rate the store higher, but the store went from normal to getto! I like the inside and the employees are nice but the bright orange color they painted it is extremely ugly. It makes it look like a store you would see in the getto! I'm embarrassed to pull in the parking lot. I feel like I might get mugged. That color does that to me. I'm not going back until it feels more people friendly on the outside. Change the color or you'll lose a lot more business. GETTO!!!

The worst!!! Main Street in Weirton, WV. Dirty, unorganized, lights burned out. Went in on 11/26/11 around 2:20pm, 1 guy working the front. Just wanted to purchase some pop for work. #3 in line of about 8 customers. The clerk asking more question about a 3.00 return. Then someone needed a rug scrubber, new girl comes up, can't sign in to check folks out, they call the lady in the back, and all they can do is ignore everyone else and look at the rental form. Forget the others wanting to pay for single items. No urgency, don't care, so I left my merchandise on the counter and walked out. No service!!!!!! Horrible!!!!!!

i have worker for dollar general for almost 3 years never called out always there when needed one day i walk into work and i am bein fired for talking to another employee that was off dutie i did nothing wrong my work was done i didnt like my job because of the manager they had in there but it was a job that was taking care of my bills and my child now i am out of a job and that manager does not do any work comes and goes when she wants slander people name everyday she can and she keeps her job im going to try and sue them and i dont recommend any body working for them they dont care about there employees they expect so much out of you and dont want to pay you nothing they talk to there customers like a piece of crap its a poor place to work for and thats in delware

The DG. in CHATOM,ALABAMA is rude the workers need to be fired there 3 workers that is constalny complaing how long they have been since so and so time the store is mess and you can't walk around in the workers are rude to the coustomer they dont wanna to they job . they always on there cell phone . me and my nigehbour both said be lucky you got a job cause some people are looking for a job.. I don't go into that store unless i have to they need to be fired and the magners are gettiing o be sorry as well one constanlty hides in the back and on the phone

I live 5 blocks from Dollar General in Fair Bluff NC. I like Dollar General, but do not like this store. I choose to drive to neighboring towns for my purchases from Dollar General. Shortly after our move to this town, I went into the local Dollar General, intending to make my usual purchases. We, on average, spend $300-$400 a month in these stores. But, the manager was talking to her employees in such a demeaning manner, I left my buggy and walked out. It was embarrassing to see grown women demeaned in such a way. Anyone in the store could hear everything being said to the employees. Several weeks later, I tried again, I couldn't find an item I normally buy at other Dollar General's. The manager was standing in an aisle. I asked for guidance. She said, "no clue", and walked away. Again, I just left and went to a Dollar General that appreciates my business. I only go in this store for emergencies now, and that is very rare. Hopefully one day soon, they will have a new manager who appreciates her customers. I would love to talk with someone from Dollar General and give more specifics and concerns, also give information to prove that our money is spent in other areas, rather than locally. It is such a shame, this is a small town, and we need to keep business local. I will be trying to contact someone at the corporate level.

I am a loyal customer that shops at the Dollar General Store in Michigan on 10 miles and Southfield on a regular basis. Today 11/23/11, I went in the store to purchase a prepaid debit card. Once I got home to take care of my transaction I realized I didnt have the amount of funds on the card as needed. I quickly rushed back to the store to inquire on how to reload the card with additional cash. The store assistant manager assisted me with a reload card. I purchased the reload card, went back home and realized the card was not compatible to the prepaid visa card I originally purchased. I called the assistant manager and explained my situation. She took my name and number and stated she would call me back with her findings. I received a call back about 15 minutes later stating to come back to the store for a refund. Once I got back to the store I was told by the assistant manager that she had spoken to her manager who stated I could not be refunded. The store has to wait on directions from the reload card corporation to explain what actions are needed to refund my money. In the meantime I'm left with a prepaid visa debit card with not enough funds, and a store that has know ideal on if, when, or how my money will be returned. I am very disatified with the serves I received today. Times are hard today and I have no money to just give to dollar general.

The Dollar General Store in Columbiana, Alabama lies to Blacks about use of their bathroom. They are told it is out of order, messed up, water not on, etc. I personally witnessed this 3 times in the past. There used to be one or two black employees that worked in this store, now there are none. I think the company should make sure the diversity of their staff matches the diversity of the customers. If things don't change at this store,Blacks will take their business else where, & file a law suite.

We were so proud when the dollar general store came to our little town in Gainesville, Missouri! The only thing is, when I get off of work the store looks like it is closed! So I ask one of the ladies that works there what time they closed and she said 9:00, but don't tell any one! There are no lights what so ever around the building! You would think that they would turn on the big yellow dollar general sign out side! So tonight I thought they were closed and I drove down there and they were open! But you can not tell that they are open until you drive up to the door! It is pitch black outside the store! No wonder the store has been broken into so much! Duh!also you would think there would be some kind of lights on outside for peoples protection! Have a clue! I don't think they want the sign on so people will think they are closed so they don't have to work so hard! This is a serious matter because I think you are losing money just because the sign isn't turned on at night and there are no lights outside!!!!

I went to the Dollar General in Seminary, Mississipi tonight at around 630 p.m. I am on a fixed income and purchased aprox.6 to 7 dollars worth of food items with food stamps. I had a non food item to purchase separtly. Thete was a lady behind me and I did not have enough room to get my money out of my purse so I told the cashier to go ahead and ring up the othet lady which she did. I did not notice the cashier had not given me my bag of food items before bagging the other ladies putchases. As soon as the cashier finished with the lady I then had my money ready and paid for my non food item which was $7.49. I then proceeded out the door and as soon as I stepped out I noticed my bag of food items were not in my buggy.i returned inside and was told the lady behind me took it. That they were not responsible that I was. They said they would roll the film back , they made me feel lile because I was on public assistance that I probally went out the door and came in just saying my food was gone. So I stood there then after several minutes I was told it did not matter if the lady behind me took it or not they would not replace it because I should have gotten my bag before the other lady was rang up. I told the night manager I had no reason to be standing tjere wasting my time and left. When I got home I though about how i was treated and decieded to call the store and tell them . They said they did look at the film and the lady did take my bag. I told them more or less I was glad they got their proof that I was not a thief but that it was the principle , I felt like it was the cashiers responsibility to make sure her bag bin was clear of the persons purchases BEFORE bagging up the new customers items. that even though I had told her to go ahead and wait on the lady behind me and I moved out of line until I could get my money to make my non food purchase which was a separate purchase

Again with the assistant manager named Leo that simply doesn't listen to complaints but reasons it always the customers fault. This person needs to be fired because once again I had to deal with a cocky non-listening person which has become impossible to do with his kind of personality. If Dollar General ever comes here to read this they need to FIRE him asap. I'm in the process of looking and writing at Corp DG to get him fired because of his type of impersonal attitude towards customers. I'm simply tired of him not listening to help him understand the problem that exits at Dollar General in Montour Falls, NY. Most people I've heard of the same problem just bear with it but they are getting over-priced each time and will only be a time before they will get fed up and go to others stores.

Today I went to the local Dollar General Store #04135 821 E. Main St. P.O. Box 1018 Flippin, AR 72634 I am a frequent shopper at this store. When I entered the store, the shelves were filled with toys for the upcoming holiday season. Since I have nine grandchildren to buy for; the sign posted stating that there was a 10% discount for purchases of $100 or more in the toy section. So I loaded up and spent $105 on toys...however, when I went to the checkout line, the cashier said the register did not automatically give me the discount and called the manager on duty over to assist me. When he looked at my purchases, he informed me that the XBox 360 game could not be considered a toy and therefore I was "apparently not" eligible for the discount. Now, I would not have been upset if the sign has stated that games were excluded; or if the manager would have been at least polite about his response but since neither of these things happened, I must admit that I was a bit upset. I shop in this particular store at least twice a week or did. I will not be spending any more of our money at DG for the holiday season. I am writing to the corporate office and to the regional manager for my area. As an elderly woman on a fixed income; I truly expected more from our little "hometown" area Dollar General.

I have went to your Bellbrook Ohio store for a long time and I am so happy to see the store is not cluttered like some of your other stores. The only thing about this store is your manager talks about all her employees and their write ups and situations and very open about it. Yes she is a hard worker but adds so much drama and saids things. Example Nelson better have a home phone number for me or he can turn in his keys. Apparently he didnt have one when he was hired and didnt for a long time and recently the manager was off sick and they couldnt get a hold of him. He is still there is must of been hot air. They however communicate on facebook and she sends him messages are you up to get him in. She even gets to persooal with her customers and then saids things about them whether they are true or not. I hope this changes for the only way I will know is if someone tells me.

I shop at Dollar General on a regular basis, being a college student and what not, and NEVER have I ever seen such horrible customer service. I know how working retail is, I mean I work as a customer service lead in one. It was sickening to see how pathetic a manager could be. My boyfriend, his friend, and I came into the store intending to do business with the company. We had quite a few items in hand when my boyfriend's friend asked for an application. The lady replied that she did not have the hours in a very sarcastic and rude manner. Although we were disgusted with her attidude, we continued to shop for the remaining items. When we sat our items down to grab a carpet cleaning formula, the same lady approached us and in the most sour voice said are you guys going to pick this up. In shock, we told her yes we will be right over there. She then walks up to us and starts attacking us with things like "yall can be removed from the store". I mean seriously? We had items in hand. I asked for corporates number and she starts involving police. I told my boyfriend and his friend to exit the store but i was not going until I got corporates number. She gave me a number that definately didn't connect to what I intended. Don't think I didn't look at your name tag Pamela! I work retail too and never would I ever act so low and immature. You'll be lucky if there isn't a lawsuit!

I am a loyal customer in the Dollar General Store in Monroe, NC located on Skyway Drive. You have great prices, and quality products. But I have a problem with a white male cashier there. It seems he has it in for me everytime I go there to shop with remarks of slander. He is so smart that he held up about 10 customers recently to slander my name in front of those 10 or so customers waiting to be checked out at the cash register. He seems to know it all and he even brought up that i got kicked out of another store in this town. Well i guess he was upset because he had not had his pasifier for the day. And for his and your information I have never been kicked out of not 1 single store in this town as of this day. The other businesses I go in seems to respect me as a customer and appreciates my business. Maybe this fine citizen would like to go back to kindergarten as it might do him some good. And he also made other remarks about my personal business which is none of his business on the dollar general time clock. I think he wants dollar general to loose a customer which is not going to happen because i am gong to continue to shop there whether he likes it or not. And so maybe it would do him some good to get a lollypop to suck on while working and maybe that would make him feel special and then maybe he can keep his slander remarks to himself while he's sucking the juices from his lollypop. He's a real sweetheart alright. Again I have never been kicked out of not one single store in this town as they seem to appreciate my business as a loyal customer. So you might want to inform him of my rights as a customer with Dollar General and ask him did they ever teach him in school about what the word slander means and what it can do for him ? And lastly my rating of 1-star is not against Dollar General, the products, quality & great pricing of the items in your Dollar General Stores but its against this sweetheart that is a so called man lol that works there. So do I have the right to continue going there or do i have to put up with his smart remarks everytime I go there ? I think its time he starts to grow up and act like a real man if that is even an option with this cry baby. Maybe if he had a promotion that would make him feel loved. Lastly as far as the rating i gave in this review let me say that this Dollar General Store and its great pricing & quality products gets a 5 star rating on my part.

I went to the Dollar General store in Loganville, GA 3490 Atlanta Hwy Sat 11/12/11 I have been there several times. Everytime i have been in that store i wlaways heard comments like "Is my hands to dirty to give me my money back" another time i heard "don't talk to me that way'. These people were Black customers at the check out counter receiving bad customer services from the cashires. Yes they were loud enough for everyone to here them. I never said anything because it was not my battle.But Sat the 12th Nov, I had my experience with the cashier i paid for the items i had, she throwed the money in my hand in a very unprofessional manner. She didn't say thank you. I went told the manager i ask her what is it about this store? Do we need to stopped showing spending our money here or what.I told her everytime i come here someone is complaining about poor service here. The manager said she was sorry and have a bless day. Which is okay but why hire people at the stores who apparently is preudice against Black people unless the manager is like that herself. I have been shopping at Dollar General store since i was a teenager. I have never experience any thing like this before, it's not fair to me to shop at a store spending my money and receive treatment like that. If the cashiers don't want to touch my hand, other hands they need to get another job. Come on now all the people that need jobs you would hire racist people. They need to be working in the back where they don't have to see Black folks. Don't you think? I feel file a complaint against that store and never go to that location again.
