I am extremely upset with Picture People, to say the least. We had an 11 appointment scheduled for May 15. We get there and the studio was CLOSED! The customer service desk in the mall where they were located said they just packed up and left without notice! So, we were standing there with our 2 daughters dressed in their birthday outfits and no one to take their picture! The thing that makes me more angry is that I received a conformation email the day before our appointment!!!!! I will NEVER recommend or use another picture people EVER!!!!!! By the way.....this is the Annaoplis location-for those of you who may have an appointment scheduled there!!! If there were a zero star rating I would have chose that! Awful, awful business practice!!!!!!
I am torn on what star rating to give. I have used picture people for years and have gotten some good pics from the Tulsa Woodland Hills location. Some sessions were better than others, but on my last session I was talked into purchasing a portrait club membership card and just a few weeks later the store closed without any notice. they should have send out announcements to those with the club cards prior to closing! This is poor business practice! I tried contacting the 1-800 number and you can not speak to an actually person! I will be contacting corporate which they do not make it easy to find out how to contact them! There is no longer a Picture People in Oklahoma and since club members were not contacted I am not sure of what future plans will be. Do not buy a club membership because they may close without notice! Do not plan on getting your baby's first year pics there because they may close before they hit one year! Find a reliable photo studio--like Target, Sears, JC Pennys for comparable prices. Even MotoPhoto would be good since you can get your pics the same day! The quality of pictures went down over the last year and I did not even receive an email of my pics like I did in the past! This company is probably not going to last much longer, which is a shame!
My experience with Picture People started at Petco in Carbondale on February 12th 2011. The Picture People were offering a pet photo package for $9.95. Thinking this was a great deal my family and I packed up and drove an hour to Petco. Upon arriving, our pets photograph was taken right away. The Picture People had some "great" deal going where you could get framed pictures plus a huge package for around $200.00 (so glad I didn't take that!) I stuck with the $9.95 package (plus $5.95 shipping) and paid for the pictures at the counter through Petco. I was told our pictures would arrive in 3 weeks. After the fourth week, I called Petco to let them know I did not receive my pictures. Petco gave me a phone number to call. I called and called..could not get an answer. I left several messages but no one called me back. I again called Petco and they gave me a different number to call. After calling and leaving several messages, I finally got someone to return my call. He assured me that my pictures would arrive in just a few days, and I would receive a confirmation e-mail to track the package. It has now been another week with no pictures and no e-mail to track the package. I have again tried to call several times, have left several messages, but get no one to return my call. I will again call Petco and complain, but I feel this issue will not be resolved. I am very disappointed with my experience with Picture People. If I could give a rating of less than one star, I would.
My daugher had a serious accident at the Picture People a few years ago and was rushed to the hospital. We choose not to take any action against the picture people (I think I must be crazy) but warned them that their swivel chairs in their lobbies are a hazard and should be removed. It has been a few years since going back. I got a coupon and throught I'd try again. I was shocked to find the same swivel chairs in their lobbyies and warned several of the parent waiting around that their kids should get off the chairs - of course all the kids were swirling about. this is how my daughter cracked her head open. Are you kidding Picture People? or just begging to be sued?
My nightmare with Picture People began on Sunday, February 6, 2011, I had my pet’s portrait taken at Petco in Jefferson City, Missouri, around 11 a.m., by a photographer with The Picture People. He and his associates were taking pet portraits at the local Petco during a three-day visit to Jefferson City. For the portratit, I paid a total of 17.13 to The Picture People through Petco The portraits were shown to me on a screen using a flash disk and they were good, and I left Petco anticipating that i would receive my portrait in the mail. The photographer told me he was from St. Louis, that the portraits would be mailed to me in about two or three weeks. He also gave me a card that said “Thank you for visiting The Picture People at Petco”. The card had the toll-free number 1-877-PETS-899. Later that week, I called the toll-free number for The Picture People (1-877-PETS-899). I left a message asking when I might expect to receive my portrait. The next day, I received a return phone call from a representative of The Picture People. He told me the portraits had been shipped the previous day, and he gave me a USPS Tracking Number which I wrote down. When I checked the above tracking number on the USPS website the following Monday, Feb. 14, a message that appeared said that the mailing containing my portraits was “Missent”. Upon further investigation I found that this message indicated that the mailing was mis-routed, apparently to the wrong address. I continued to follow the progress of the mailing on the USPS website, and a couple of days later I saw the message that my portraits were “out for delivery” in Plano, Texas. Apparently the portraits were returned to the Picture People facility in Plano, TX. However, upon continual checking of the USPS tracking website, the last message available was “delivery status not updated as of Feb. 16, 2011, 11:21 p.m.” That message has not been updated since that time. At this point in time, one month later, I have no idea where the portraits are, if they are simply “lost in the mail”, if they are at the Picture People facility waiting for someone there to re-send them to me, or what. Not knowing what to do, I have made unsuccessful attempts to call and resolve this issue. First, I subsequently called their toll-free number several times, and left messages (no one EVER answers so you are forced to leavea message). I finally received a call from a man named Daniel from The Picture People. When I called him back, he told me that he would check on this matter and call me later that day. He told me he was a regional manager for The Picture People in an area that included Wichita and up to the Kansas City area. That was a week-and-a-half ago. Since then I have tried to call Daniel at the above number several times, have left messages, and he does not answer and does not return my phone calls. In another attempt to reach someone at The Picture People regarding this issue, I logged on the The Picture People website, clicked on “Contact Us” and typed out a detailed message which should have been sent to you when I hit “send”. That was at least two weeks ago but I have not received any reply to that attempt to contact you. At this point I just want my money back. I'll never use The Picture People again!
Like some posters on this site, I too worked for the Picture People. At the time I was attending UCF to obtain my degree in photography and thought I would be able to supplement my learning with my work. I started as a seasonal employee, worked up to part time and before a year was up I was sitting pretty as an Assistant Manager. I loved my store. I loved my coworkers. Then they gave us a new store manager. I wonder if they ever bothered to drug test her? We looked at her MySpace page [at the time that MySpace was "awesome") and found it riddled with pot paraphenalia. She would call 8am SUNDAY work meetings, show up to them 30 minutes late and have her whole family in tow. Eventually I'd had enough and I moved on. Currently I am looking for jobs that will allow me to relocate and thought "eh, why not give good 'ol PP a shot..at least it will let me transition easier". Well what a mistake. I was contacted by the HENDERSON, NEVADA Picture People in regards to a Snr. Photographer position [not what I wanted, but I'd take it] on a Friday. I returned the call and was told to call back. Twice. Then I was placed on hold for TWELVE minutes. I'm calling from FLORIDA. After I hung up I finally received a call an hour and a half later telling ME to call THEM on Sunday. So, stupidly, I did. Once again I'm told to call back because they "aren't open"...Picture People instructs you to NOT pick up the phone unless you are open. DUMBASS. I call back again. No answer. Again. Put on hold. I'm told THEY will call ME back. It's now Monday evening and I just got another call. Let's just say that Picture People has DEFINITELY let itself go. What a joke.
Actually not even a 1 star, less than that. You guys need to hire better managers because the manager Joy at the ParK City Mall in PA in Lancaster County hung up on me when I called to complain. I went there so my daughter could get her pictures taken for modeling and she said they were too full take any walkins, yet every time we walked by there were no customers in the store at all!!!!! When I got home I called to complain and she said that the reason noone was there was because they had alot of no shows! Are you telling me that a bunch of appointments in a row just didn't show up? I am never going there again! I am a am telling everyone I know not to go there anymore!
I worked for this company for 3 years, my reasoning behind it is that I am a broke college student and any minimum wage paying job is worth it. Let me just start off by saying that they are crooks, every last one of them. I ended up getting a pay cut after the second year due to the economy, while new employees started at a wage higher than mine, I was told up and down that I was the best photographer but since my sales weren't up to par I was a slave to the camera room. Picture this, 10 am instant cries from children and parents who are whining about EVERYTHING for a half hour and then after that there was another family, and another family and another family with the same problems until 5 pm when my shifts end. Management is lazy, never followed rules, I would run the store basically by myself. When customers were mad they made me deal with it. I have never dealt with such rude people in my life before working here, I have had people yell and swear at me for things that were waaaay beyond my control. For the first year I worked there during xmas season we didn't get breaks. working 10 hour shifts and no break until someone called the department of labor. Breaks were given to you when there was time, because managers generally were too lazy to take sittings in so you would HAVE to be there at all hours meaning I usually didn't get my break until a half hour before my shift was over. I have also had to clock out after closing time and clean and take sittings in on my break just so I can have a normal clocked in/out break. In addition, when our company decided to go from paper forms to online forms the system somehow changed our dependency status on our w4's making me own over 300 in taxes that year, meaning I will also own money this year. They also made a change on the form not taking out money for federal withholding tax. This is what I mean by crooks. Also, Merry Gagg, the most evil person one can encounter. She does nothing but talk you down and make you feel as low as possible in order to ensure that her company is making money, she manages with fear, which if you ask me creates nothing but animosity. This company is terrible! The only reason why people go there is to get free stuff, Its a wonder how its still in business. Plus the pictures suck because there is an abundance of sales but noooo photography training, what do you expect??
I will never have my photos taken here again. Upon arriving in the Paramus Park location the manager was abrupt and rude, not welcoming at all. They have all these great modern photos gracing the walls in the store, but that is not what you walk out with. My photographer never even introduced herself to me and my husband. Him and I felt rushed the whole time. I suggested every single pose bc all she wanted to shoot was generic boring photos. The blue back drop is absolutely disguistingly filthy. She wanted me to place my six month old on that, belly down. When I told her that there is no way I would ever place my baby on that, she said that they are washed daily. There is no way. Maybe 2 out of all the photos turned out well, but overall the entire experience was so dissapointing. The one thing that they do successfully is, push and suggest the photo club. I was asked and prompted about it 4 times in one hour. They dont realize that this place is horrible and no one would ever want to be stuck taking pictures here for an entire year.
The service at the Littleton, COLORADO should be reviewed. I had 2 pictures that were printed incorrectly. The mistake was caught when I was 2 hours away back at home. I called on Saturday night, some incompetent individual could do nothing except tell me how they did nothing wrong, after I instisted that something be done, she stated she would take all the notes down and have a manager call me back that night or by the next day... Well by Monday, no call back! And when I tried to call, no answer untill 2 calls later! Yes, they were open for biz but no one was answering the phones.. When I finally reached someone I got EXTREMELY BAD Customer service, the ladies who worked there (I spoke to now 3 of them) were extremely rude, never appologized for the mistake and had to remind me that the "Customer is not always correct" (they definitely need some CS training and new management at this location) WOW..I ve been using PP for over 5 years in Green Bay/Appleton, WI and never had bad service, in fact our service has always been exceptional. So I really think its the management/attitude at this location. And unfortunately I go to PP 3x's per year & after this incident, they have just lost my business.. Its too bad. Looking back, I recall showing up early for the appointment (mind you no one was getting their pictures taken in the entire studio) and they told me I had to come back in 15 min as we were too early.. I should have suspected something was up at this time with the CS.. I am certain PP read these posts or they need to start sending out customer service surveys after the visits. It might be wise..
My daughter and I made an appointment to have our picture taken. The photo session went great, however, we were unable to take our CD home with us even though we purchased and paid for our pictures in advance. There was a problem with the download and we were told we would receive a phone call later that day when our photos were downloaded. WE NEVER RECEIVED A RETURN CALL!!!! My daughter, who lives in Florida, was only in town for two days and was expecting to take the CD with her. Call the Customer Service line is useless! I tried calling the store and no one ever picks up the phone! I WILL NEVER, EVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN!! AS A MATTER OF FACT, KEEP THE PICTURES AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK! I WOULD MUCH RATHER GO TO LOCAL PHOTO STUDIO EVEN IF IT COSTS A LITTLE MORE!
To whom it may concern: this is a letter to express my inconvieneient experience with picture people! i am waitng over four months to recieve a canvas portrait for my daughters one year old pictures. Over the last three years i have taken pictures of both my children with the picture people but am having second thoughts in the future. The company has take excessively long to deliver one portriat I understand a mistake can happen but in order to get it taken care of have surpassed the excpected time level I should be entitled to a free sitting for my daugthers second birthday and or Christmas portrait. This has caused much inconvinence for me and unfortunately may be my last time here as a club membership holder i feel i should have been taken care of thank you.
Let me just start off by saying this was the most awful experience I have ever had while getting my childrens photo's taken. I was forwarned on facebook about how horrible this place was but I choose to ignore the warnings. Never again. I Arrived at 1:30 pm The photo was with 5 grandchildren for Christmas Pictures. ( Can you imagine how hard that was to plan ? ) My father in law attended who has heart failure, was in a wheelchair was appalled. To start off with the Photographer had to be prompted by me to get props. Not one photo had a prop until the end because I made him. So with a feeble attempt to make me happy, he threw a x-mas tree in the last 2 photos. grrrrr.... You see, I was drawn to The picture people after walking past many times and see these really neat creative photos with these modern props. I said to myself , Maybe I should bring all the kids for a Fun photo shoot. Well boy was I in for a treat. All the poses were Amatuer like, basic sit idian style blah blah blah. I was so let down , and quite sad , knowing I had dragged my in-laws and all these children to this place and the picture were blah. 5 children in hopes of the perfect x-mas card to send out this year. next we wait for the pictures to come out on the computer. Our person showed us a picture and seemed very eager for us to speed it along while picking our pictures . She would disappear in the back for 5 min at a time, making it frustrating to pick out pictures and christmas cards while keeping all the children entertained. She would come back giggling how many hours left until she was off, and about her plans for that evening. I asked her why we didnt have any neat x-mas props like the pictures on the wall. She said that it offends people if they use props because they may be Jewish . ( My daughters were wearing Red and green dresses and my 8 year old had a red velvet with white sleeves that looked like Mrs Claus. Odviously not Jewish !) Finally afer the 10 time of disapearing, my father in law lost it telling the manager to get someone who could sit down for more then 5 minutes rather then disappear to go gossip in the back. At that time, she came back , and the manager told her to stay there and not get up until we were finished. ( she was not happy) I noticed that alot of the pictures were blurry or had face with a white haze over them which didnt leave much to choose from. ( I am not picky either and these were horrible !!!) We picked a few and ordered cards to be mailed out. She said she would have them sharpen the faces and take out the white blur. we waited and waited and waited. After 2 hours we had to get the children out of there . They were starving and hot. ( We had no intention of feeding them there for $50.00 at the food court grrrrr....) At this point the people had no compassion and acted as if we were anoying them because our pictures were messed up instead of apologizing. ( I at that point burst into tears) So we left my husband sweating upstairs, starving himself to take the kids to be feed and a bathroom break. 3 hours later..... my husband calls us to say the blurry , white haze on the pictures were do to fingerprints on the lens and they cant be sharpened. ( It took them 3 hours to figure that out?) They wanted us to come back up and retake the pictures. I had no choice because my neice and nephew were going home the following day to Delaware . This was my last shot at a decent picture. I dragged them backup 4 floors and retook the shoot. This photogtopher was more amatuer then the last one and was more annoyed. She took half attempt crappy shots. again no props and I had to tell them to PLEASE give me prop. they gave them Santa hats to wear big woop. when I looked at them on the computer , the second photos were awful and you could tell the photograpgher was lazy and didnt even try. I could have taken a better photo MYSELF. So I had them color in a bra stap ( I had to suggest and tell them how to do that by the way grrrr...) The Lady was rude that was printing the crappy pictures. 4 hours later .......she hands us a bag with our pictures and would even look at us. We then got home , opened the bag to find that they forgot the Christmas cards. ( once again I burst into tears ) I called them and told them I lived allthe way by PA on the Maryland line and that they forgot to give me the Christmas cards. The Lady said " Oh they are right here on our counter , do you want to come back and get them ? ) I thought i would hear, I am sooo sorry mam , you have been through so much today) So , I don't know if they whole company os like this , or even care but , I just thought I would share what I went through and according to my friends , this kind of stuff happened to them too.
WOW I wish I saw this site before I booked a session. What an awful experience I had. And here I am a week later and still have not heard back from an email I sent! Email is instant people. It should be responded to as soon as it is received. I will never use there services and again and will be letting everyone I know about what an awful experience I had. Bad press travels fast.
