I would give no stars, if I could. When I registered, I told them that I was from Canada, and asked that if I had to, for some reason, move back, if I would still be bound to the contract? The lady at the desk said "no, not if you can send us a bill, with proof of a different address". The VERY next day, I called, and said that I had to move back, and they said that I could not cancel- that it had already gone through to their head office. I asked what I could do, and she said there was nothing she could do, and that I had to take it up with them. Of course, there was no head office number online (I am just finding this now) and so I emailed the info@massageenvy.com address, and no one ever got back to me. I finally got settled in a new place, with a bill, but still hadn't heard back from them. I called the Spa I had gone to, and they said they couldn't do anything for me. [Great customer service!] I cut my losses, thinking I was the stupid one signing up for six months, and thought it would end there. But its been over 10 months, and they are still debiting my credit card!!! Needless to say, I will be calling this number today to get this straightened out!!! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM!!!

The Parker store has threatened to not pay the massage therapist if the client is unhappy or for any reason they have to comp the massage. They also have consistantley over book the staff cutting out breaks completely or shortening them just so they can make more money.
Wow!!!! Can't believe all the horror stories am reading. My locations had a fire and has been closed for 3-4 weeks and am beginning to wonder if it was an accident or intentional. I never had a problem until now that they charged my account 2x for this month and since I signed up at the location that had a fire i've been getting the run-around. None of the other locations have access to my file and i've left messages but not one manager has called me back yet. My membership is over and am not going to re-sign.
this place is a scam how is it free membership but you cant cancel or freeze, word of mouth travels fast and masage envy will so come to stop with the scams..
I went for a girls day witg me my mom in my 6randma it was the best experence but my grandmother said the gurl was affard to evwn rub my mom n my grandmother then we still gave them 12 dollars for tip I dont think I will be back it was not a good experence.....
My entire experience has been pathetic to say the least. I bought a membership for myself and my daughter. I began traveling and called to cancel or put my membership on hold. No, you cannot unless you appear in person. Months and many accrued massages I went in for an appoiuntment to find that they didn't show me on the books...oops they had the wrong name in the system. The time before that my therapist was no where to be found...Oh 20 minutes late because he was at the store next door getting a snack. Always something with these people. I cancelled both memeberships and what do you know... I am still have my account debited and convieniently they canot find the paperwork I filled out to cancel. These people are incompetant and rip you off. Always someone will call and resolve it and no one ever does. It's dishonest and not worth the time or effort. Save yourself a ton of grief and dont do it. These people are rude, unconcerned, dishonest, unprofessional, and all together untrustworthy.
I was given a ME gift cert. for my birthday. I have been a Massage Therapist for 4 years. Even though I have heard poor things about how they treat their massage therapists I decided to give them a try. When I called to make my appt the front desk was rude. My massage therapist was very chatty but did work out a lot of my problem areas. After my massage the front desk lady then asked if I was interested in a monthly pay as you go membership for massages for $49.00 a month. She showed me where to sign and said I could cancel at anytime. I decided to sign up and give it a try for a few months. After the first month I got a new massage job where the other therapists would give me free massages so i called to cancel my appt. The front desk told me i had to come in and fill out a cancellation form. When i went in to fill the form out a new person was at the desk and asked if i was aware that i signed a one year contract with them and there was no way to cancel only freeze the account. I have since frozen the account and canceled my bank account. This place is a complete scam and i have no idea HOW or WHY they are still in business. The fact that they can even obtain a business license is beyond me and I wish there was something that EVERYONE could pull together and do.
After many years of being a member, I have found myself in a situation where I have been unable to use my services (I currently have five paid for massages), so I called to cancel. Imagine my surprise when I was told that if I cancelled my membership I would lose all of my services. This forces me to keep a membership going or lose nearly $250 dollars. Once I figure this out, I will NEVER re-join and will certain tell all of my contacts about the lovely customer service at Massage Envy. The only explanation was "That is what the second paragraph of the agreement says." This is a service company with ABSOLUTELY no understanding of customer service. The "those are the rules" or "that's how we've always done things" situations are infuriating. Company's should trust people to be able to make decisions instead of these hard and fast rules. Nordstrom's is well know for their liberal return policy. They understand the good will and continued patronage that such a policy has created. Something Massage Envy clearly doesn't understand.
I applied for a receptionist position at the Southlake West Message Envy in Texas. So sorry I did, Maggie, the manager was interviewing myself, and another applicant at the same time. I thought it was kind of sketchy at the interview for she did not ask us many questions, but I thought " every one has there own ways". Maggie told us that she wanted us to come work for a hour to see if we could stick with the job. Well, with reservations about this, I went along with it anyway. So I went to work, and spent gas money I could not afford. I spent an hour and a half there, I was told I was doing well, and she seemed to be pleased with my performance. I asked her if I had the job and she replied by asking if I liked the job. I told her yes and that I enjoyed it, everyone was nice and helpful. As I was leaving I inguired on when I was to start and Maggie told me that she would call me Tuesday to let me know when I was to start. I waited, Tuesday came, and no phone call. Ok, I thought, everyone gets busy. Wednesday came and I called the Message Envy but, Maggie was not there. I called four times that day and I could never talk to Maggie, it is Friday today and still no call. I feel as if Maggie is using applicants for free labor. Although it was just an hour, I find this behaviour extremely dishonest and callous, for you have to take into consideration that people who are looking for employment have enough to go through besides wasting precious time and gas to go and work free for an hour for someone's own selfish gain. I realize that it doesn't mean too much for you Fat Cats to understand but this behaviour will go noticed. I will make sure that everyone that I know and everyone that they know in Southlake, ( which is quite a few people) will be informed of these practices. And this will be added to your not so desirable reviews I have read. I do wish I investigated before I applied for your company.
I am a Massage Envy member who has been with my clinic through 2 owners, 3 GM's, a ton of front desk staff and an unusually high turnover of Therapists! I am a p/t Therapist ( of 15+yrs) and let's just say I pay attention! The music is just the beginning. It's the lack of knowledge in MY profession with nontherapist staff and is rampant at multiple locations!! This is APPALLING!! I will finish out my contract and be sure to let everyone I know to stay AWAY from this racket! I have solicited my Therapist for private use. I also think it does not end with these franchise owners. It goes ALL THE WAY to the TOP! That is you C.G. Funk! You should be a little more hands on in your clinic's! That is if you care about YOUR profession!! I understand you are a Therapist yourself! APPALLING!!! Maybe I'll just go invest in Zen Massage ( no high-pressure sales/contract) franchise. You know the rest!!!
First of all, I want to say something about this comment left in November... "**IMPORTANT** For those of you who go to massage envy and complain that a "1-hr session" is only 50 minutes, us therapists bust our asses to do a massage, get the client off the table, change the sheets and blankets, fill out your chart, and pick up the next person. So stop being so god-damned narrow minded and think about other people. After all, we are here to think about YOU by giving you a great massage therapy. I would appreciate to be treated as if I were human. Thank you." NO THERAPIST with a atleast a modicum of decency, self-respect, and work ethic would EVER address clients that way....whether in person, over the phone, or online. It was rude, condescending, and I'm embarrassed that they even practice a healing art with such a negative, stinging attitude. I worked at ME for a couple of years. I quit after management was suspected of stealing our tips. I started my own practice and, quite frankly, I'm not sure why I didn't do it sooner, because my skill set and personal convictions don't line up with the kind of business massage envy is running. I take pride in my work, I absolutely LOVE making people feel amazing, and getting less than $20 per hour for MY style of massaging was a slap in the face. God willing, I will NEVER go back again.
The Clinic Administrator at the E. Natoma store in Folsom, CA is completely unethical and unprofessional. She is unable to seperate personal from business and actually went on a three day trip with three of her employees and drank all weekend long. Managers should not be going on personal trips with their employees. It's extremely unprofessional and this particular Clinic Administator clearly has issues seperating what's right and what's wrong. Clearly the owners have no idea what is happening in their store.
I was a Massage Envy front desk associate as of yesterday. I had to quit because the owner was completely unappreciative and untrusting of every single employee she had. Our managers always left within 3 months of being hired and it was THE most unorganized place I have ever worked. (And I've had a quite a few jobs in my life). I am great friends with the therapists and everyone absolutely hates this place. They are wonderful therapists and they are over worked, underpaid, and treated like they are property. There have been 10 employees in the past year that have walked out during their shifts because it was so awful working for such bullies. I thought it was just my clinic that had these issues but apparently it is a problem throughout the entire franchise. I hope that no one puts themselves through the horror of working for this place.
First of all that number listed at the top is not a good number I tried to call it. Like most others I feel into the trap set by ME. For my birthday in 2010 my son gave me a gift certifcate to ME. I was thrilled. So I went in for the appointment and the pressure to turn that visit into a membership and go out and get others to join was put on strong. I signed. Then I had to have surgery so I couldn't use the massage so was granted permission for a six month stay. During that time also I lost my job, had to have extensive repairs done to the home which included putting in a new furnace and water line and subsequently lost my home also used all my savings. So now here comes six month later and the charges start going in to my bank for the 49.00 charges. My bank account was zero pratically I had to move ahd am not able to pay my bills timely my social security check is just not enough but each month here comes the debit from ME. Of course it bounces so I am also charged a fee by the bank for the overdraft. After which comes the call "Good news you now have another massage please call and schedule" I tell them off everytime and mention the facct that I can not afford this luxury, I don't have a job, I don't have gas to drive to the location I don't need massages and I certainly don't need the overdraft each month. Well you can cancel the account and you will have a month to use the banked massages. Of course you need to come into the office to cancel. Hello I don't have gas to drive there for a massage I have told you this. So I close the bank account. Now the calls are we couldn't deduct your payment if you don't give us another account you will be charged a late fee??? Finally today after the nimwits tried again the call. I have once again explained that I can not afford the payments when is the last time I was there 6/2011. Well If you don't pay your account will be cancelled and sent to collection agency. I said I have not used your services to which was the reply that they were there for me to use and you did sign a contract. There must be something that can be done about this company and I am going to investigate. They have at least 10 massages banked so that is almost $500.00 not to count the overdraft fees. I hung up by saying send on the collection agency.
The location in Olympia, Washington is the worst!! I have had previous memberships in other states and was always happy with them. This location has basically stolen $150.00 worth of gift certificates from me...and I haven't even gotten a massage!! I was turned away for being sick at my initial appointment, which was fine. They held onto my gift certificate upon leaving. When I called to reschedule, apparently they had a flood and lost all paperwork. When they called to confirm my appt, the lady told me that they were trying to charge my certificate for $19.00- as a cancellation fee from before, but since they no longer had the certificate, they couldnt do it. She then asks for my credit card # to charge. I was so furious that they were going to charge me for being sick- when they are the ones who sent me away. Now they want to charge my credit card and they no longer have my certificate or the correct #'s for it?? I searched for my email that contained the certificate, but since they had an actual copy of it, I assume I had deleted the email. (bad idea!!!) I just sucked it up and figured I had screwed up...no massage for me! :( I received another certificate this year and thought, "What the heck, I will try them again." (bad idea #2). When I called the same Olympia location, it was the same nightmare alllll over again!! "You still owe us $19.00 for last year and we need that payment before we can book anything for you." I have received three phone calls asking for my gift certificate # or my credit card # since that day. They want that damn $19 so bad!!! I was willing to pay it, but going out of your way to call me non stop is a bit over the top and i honestly think I will just tear up my gift certificate and call it a day! Two $75.00 presents down the toilet!! The people kept pushing that I needed a membership yesterday as well. They kept reminding me that my $75.00 minus the $19.00 was not going to get me much. I was WILLING to pay the difference, but now...they can suck up the $19 bucks and I can only pray that they get flooded enough to never re-open. I am so disappointed in them! I would go to another location, but the next closest one is a bit far for me. Such a shame.... all I wanted was some relaxation after my shoulder surgery, but instead I feel more stressed out!
I hate ME, at least the one in Tallahassee, FL. I am a recent member and because of my experience with the Tallahassee office I am seriously thinking about cancelling my membership. I became a member at the Panama City Beach clinic and it was a VERY pleasent experience. They assured me that as a member I would be regarded very highly and always treated with the best service. However, that was not the case. I scheduled an appointment for my mother and I on Thursday, Jan. 12 and on Friday, January 13 the office called to confirm the appointment. At that time I asked if I could reschedule our appointments to later in the afternoon. The young lady obliged and gave me a 3pm appointment and my mother a 3:30 appointment. Now today, Sunday, Jan. 15 I get a call asking for my mother because she missed her 10:30 appointment. I explained to the young lady that our appointments were changed to 3 and 3:30 and she said that she only saw my appointment and not my mothers. She was very rude and unprofessional and left me feeling like it was my fault that the appointments got screwed up. I then called the Panama City office to get the corporate phone number and explained to them what happened. Not only were they very helpful I scheduled an appointment with them for today. So, now I will be driving 2 hours for a 1 hour massage...doesn't make much sense I know, but I was really looking forward to sharing this with my mother and I wanted to make it happen. Once I book the new reservations I called the Tallahassee office back and I spoke with a girl name Erica. She began telling me that because her office doesn't profit off my membership they don't have to accomodate me as they would for the memberships started in their office. I told her that that is not something you tell a client and I will be telling her manager exactly what she told me. Then after that conversation she tells me that I will be charged for 50% no show fee because I cancelled. I didn't cancel they screwed up my appointments. I am still waiting on a manager from the Tallahassee office to call me back. Like many of the other comments, if I could give them something lower than 1 star I would. I don't know how ME made such big headlines and growth with this type of service!
I have no problem with your massage therapist at the Creve Coeur, Missouri location. It is the staff at your front desk - they are arrogant, rude and never helpful. I joins the CC location in April 11. You now have a branch near my home on Olive in Olivette, Missouri - I have starated using that location. The staff is very helpful and courtesy and the therapsit are as good as CC. I was told I can not transfer my membership from CC to Olivette even though I can use the Olivette location. I very much want to change everythin to Olivettte I see no need for CC to get credit for my membeship. Thank you. Donna McDonald 314 991 3352
I just tried to contact the corporate phone number listed at this site - it's been "changed or disconnected". So I'm still looking. I've had both good and bad experiences with ME - a lot depends on the clinic manager and franchise owner. They also tend to make up the rules as they go along, which is why I'm trying to reach the corporate office to clarify.
