My wife an I are very pleased with our masasage therapist at the new location that Massage Envy now has just two blocks away from hour home in Tucson. Our therapist is a graduate of DIHA in Tucson. My only regret is the choice of voices for your answering machine in Tucson. The man does not have a warm soothing voice. You need to have a new voice/over made ASAP in Tucson. If interested I have the voice you need as a voice over. I have an extraordinary background in oral communications and as a TV producer. In addition, I also graduated for the Desert Institute of The Healing Arts (DIHA) here in Tucson in 1988 and value massage treatments. My voice would bring more business without a doubt!
BBB Complaint Filed against : Massage Envy– Valencia #0636 23957 Newhall Ranch Road Valencia, CA 91354 661-259-0878 I properly canceled my membership in 2009 due to a move that resulted in no ME within 50 miles. According to ME rules, I brought a letter of cancelation into the clinic before the move and mailed in my first utility bill as soon as we received it one month later. At that time I had become very ill and my husband took over the finances. Last month (Feb 2011) my husband had me look at the credit card bill and we discovered that ME had reinstated the charges to my card and had overcharged me by 11 months (April 2010-Feb, 2011)! The clinic and corporate having been giving me the run-around and have recently basically told me to go pound sand! I have sent them documentation proof of the proper cancelation. These charges are fraudulent and need to be reimbursed. My experience leads me to believe that THIS IS A DISHONEST COMPANY and I warn everyone to not sign up for a membership and never ever give this company your credit card number! Resolution Sought: Reimbursement of the $413 fraudulent charges on my credit card. (the credit card company was able to reimburse 4 months worth.)

I have come to realize that Massage Envy is a rip off and I'm contacting the BBB. I just found this website after emailing corporate and never getting an answer. I got a membership, was going Monthly until I got into an accident and was unable to go. I called and put the membership on hold, they continued to take money from my acct. for months until I found it again and then called them and asked them to put a hold on it again. After I some what recooperated and tried to use the massages they already charged me for, they said I canceled my membership and there for loose my old massages. I am partially disabled and still going through Therapy and doctor visits, and I explained this to the manager and they don't give a damn. They have also refused to give me their corporate office number and they say you can only contact corporate through the email they don't respond to.
I want a full refund. Manager Never returns calls. 4 times now. Wif had a massage from 90 lbs. Asian guy with weak girl soft hands.
I work at Massage Envy Covington, WA as a therapist. Customer Service is number one in our clinic. The front desk really work hard to find a good match for every person that comes for a massage. Our therapists range from new graduates to 27 years experience. We offer a wide range of massage specialties ranging from relaxation to therapeutic, deep tissue to cranial sacral and much more. We are all about the clients experience. Please do not judge all Massage Envy clinics by one bad experience. Massage Envy offers massage at a very reasonable and affordable prices. We have 20 therapists in our clinic and just try them till you find a fit. I love working there and find a very fulfilling career with Massage Envy and I have 27 years experience! Don't give up on us or yourself!
Park City, UT: I bought a gift certificate for my husband 90 minutes in all he probably got an hour massage, this is such a rip off. When I pay for 90 minutes I expect him to get his full 90 minutes and no less or no more. Then after getting ripped of on his 90 minutes the girl at the front desk tried to say he owed $30.00 more dollars. Not only was the girl at the front desk trying to get more money out of him she was very sick, why would you come to work with a cold? Let's pass our cold around to the clients......very unprofessional. This was the second gift card I bought for my husband and the first time he was shorted his 60 minute massage, but he had an excellent massage therapist so that made up for the shorted 60 minutes. But this time he had a horrible horrible massage therapist and not even his full 90 minutes. Never again will I buy from Massage Envy. Very disappointed with Massage Envy.
During Christmas 2010. I went into Massage Envys Spa at Livermore, CA at 2100 Portola Ave. to buy a gift card for my wife for Christmas. The lady ask how much do I want to buy on my card. I told her that I wanted one or two hour massage. She then responded that if I purchase two hour I can get the introductory rate for $98. So I purchased two hour for $98 which she wrote on the card $98 - 2 hour massage. a month later my wife call to make a appointment to redeem for the 2 hour massage. They told her that since she been to the establishment twice before. she can not use the gift card for 2 hr. she have to pay the different for the reg. 2 hr.rate or joint membership. I called the spa and spoke to the manager that, when they sold me the gift card they did not tell me nor is written on flyer that this can not be use for patron that have visited the spa more then two time without jointing membership. They admitted that was part of their employee mistake not telling me the policy. If they have told me . I wouldn’t have bough it. Do you think that if you want to buy a gift card for this kind of service as a gift to someone. You would go to them and ask ... Honey, I want to get you a massage for Christmas. Have you been to Massage Envy before ? Ha.... most unlikely. They still refuse to accept the card for the two hour service. Do not go to Envy. They will con you to joint. and for those who want to buy someone a gift card. DON'T. Is only good for member and people that have not been there before. But they do not tell you when you buying it. Bad customer service and false advertising.
As an employee, I have noticed plenty of things wrong with this company. The location in Vacaville, CA is very unsanitary! The sheets they use to drape the table are not long enough which means that clients who are over 5'5" will have their feet touching the table warmers, which are never washed! Athlete's feet is very contagious and even though we have made this complaint, nothing is ever done about it. On top of that, there's hardly ever sanitizer in the room, the blankets don't get washed, and they don't vaccuum the floors. I have seen a roach crawling on the floor while doing a massage. The lotions, gels, and oils suck! They're cheap. Management just wants more money in their pockets since its mostly family running the whole clinic. The assistant manager is the manager's daughter. The boy who rarely cleans is the manager's son, the son's baby's mama is a front desk associate, and the assistant manager's best friend is also a front desk associate. When they leave for weddings or family functions, the therapist are assed out when it comes to customer complaints. A lot of the complaints have to do with the membership, which is something we have no control over. Many of my clients have complained to me about management and ask me to relieve the stress they just caused.
This place is unethical and disgusting!!! I wanted to buy a $39 introductory rate gift card, and I was told to buy the special of $55 for massage, tax, and gratuity included. They told me it was 20% gratuity. I later calculated and found out it was 35% gratuity!!!! WHAT!? 35% gratuity for a bad massage!? I called the manager, Gavin in Eden Prairie, MN and told him I thought it was very misleading and unethical, and he told me it wasn't, interrupted me the entire time, and offered no apology. NEVER GO HERE!
I cancelled my membership over a year ago at the massage envy in Clayton Valley, Northern California. It was on a credit card that I do not use much----I was checking through paper work last week and came across a credit card statement. I am still being charged and what is worse the franchise owner will not give me my money back. He can plainly see that there are 14 massages that I have been charged for and have not used but will not take any responsibility for this so I am out of pocket $700 This I am not going to let go of and believe me unless something is done about it from corporate head quarters this will be a massive head ache for them. Karma has a power by itself and this company is going to get a huge hit on its head unless it does not stop ripping people off
If any body is interested in contacting me for a class action suit against this company let me know. barryj@barryjones.com
I was at a massage envy in Sheridan, CO and the male therapist kissed me on the mouth! When I complained to the manager, she told me to get a female therapist next time, and that I had signed a contract that binds me to pay for the next 4 months, weather I get the massages or not. I WILL NEVER RETURN, and am currently speaking to an attorney.
I was working at scottsdale and mcdonald and I was forced to work 12 to 14 hours nonstop by cindy and I became the most requested therapist. Cindy had cheated my hours and salary many times and even cheated the hours or treatments performed at which I was not paid for. I also dif not get the inshrance after 30 days. Cindy told me to lir about the start date as sbe also told other therapists like Monica
this company sucks inall respects. Not only are the rooms freezing, but getting through to a location manager is impossible, and they don't return calls. And, the very fact that one CANNOT so much as find a corporate phone number gives credence and proof positive to all of the complaints about the ineptness of the company. A company that has such little regard for customer service surely will fail. The ultimate irony is that they are in the relaxation business...yet they cause so much stress. Ridiculous
I don't understand why everyone is so negative about Massage Envy and it's corporate policies... If they didn't have them, the company would be out of business! Honestly, Massage Envy is the best thing I have stumbled upon. I go to the Massage Envy in Kennesaw, Ga and I haven't had a problem there, ever! The front desk ladies are GREAT! They know my name right when I walk in the door, I don't even have to say my name to check in and they remember things I told them on my last visit and follow up on it whenever I come in! They really make me feel like they WANT me there, not just for my money. The therapists there are fabulous as well. Most of the therapists at the Kennesaw location have been there since the location opened up and they have a very low therapist turnover rate from what I know! They know all the therapists there and their specialties and are able to suggest someone new I would like if my usual therapist isn't available. To the people who have membership issues, YOU SIGNED AN CONTRACT. If you cannot afford $59 a month for your health, then you really shouldn't be going to get that initial massage in the first place. When you put your signature down on that sheet of paper, you commit to the term you signed for, and no court you take that to will tell you you are correct. Consider if you promised the bank you would pay back X amount of money on your credit card and you went to them with some sob story and expected them to say "Oh don't worry about it", they wouldn't tell you it was ok! Because you signed a agreement with them stating you would pay them back. And for the person who attempted to cancel their membership from another location, maybe YOU should have called the location you ENROLLED at to cancel since they are your home location. ITS A FRANCHISE. Do you REALLY want every Massage Envy in the nation to have your membership information, which includes your CREDIT CARD INFORMATION? Maybe everyone that has complained really needs to grow up and take responsibility for their actions.
I've had an impossible time getting out of the monthly contract for the "Wellness Program". I submitted the provided form at the same location which I (made the mistake of) signing up at but have still had to block my credit to try and get the monthly charges to stop. I've been scammed no doubt and Massage Envy is an unethical business that I wish I'd never had anything to do with. Hundreds of dollars now stolen from me by being suckered into a monthly program. Man what a sucker I was and wish someone had told me to watch out - to run away as fast as I could - Massage Envy is a scammer company.
To whom it my concern, my name is Israel Medrano and I have a wife tha work at a massage eny in Dallas @ Casa Linda off of Buckner and Garland road, well She has been coming home telling me her Boss (Wilson, the Franchise Owner)has been sexually touching her inaproperately while on the job. well when she told me this I went to her job with a Video camera and caught him forcing his hand down my wife's shirt. So my concers are what action will the headquarters or the ceo take.
BBB Complaint Filed against : Massage Envy Coral Gables, LLC 256 Miracle Mile Coral Gables FL 33134 Complaint Description: I canceled my membership on July 7. 2010 with the downtown Chicago location of Massage Envy. I physically filled out the form and watched them fax it to my home office in Coral Gables. In August 2010, I got a phone call from Coral Gables informing that my prepaid massage was available even though I had canceled. I checked my statement and I did receive a charge so I called both offices about it. The Coral Gables office said that they would talk to Chicago to resolve the problem. Since then, I got no more phone calls from Coral Gables in regards to "prepaid massages" and I didn't check my statement again for these charges because I thought the cancellation had gotten resolved the second time around. Then Dec comes and I am looking through my statements and to my surprise, I was charged for the past THREE months! I did not authorize these charges! I had canceled my membership in July! and called them about it in Aug! I called the Coral Gables office and worked with Diana Gonzales, the owner. She was rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. After calling her 4-5 times over the past week, I finally get a hold of her on the phone and she had the audacity to raise her voice! She basically called me a liar when she said that she has worked with her office manager "Ollie" for the past two years and that there is no record of my cancellation! Ridiculous! Even after I called again in August and was reassured that it would be taken care of! And it's funny that ever since August when my cancellation was "resolved" I never received another phone call about my prepaids being availiable, yet they can charge my card without my authorization. This is an unethical business practice. I did not authorize those charges for months of Sept - Nov. I cancelled in JULY 2010 and called them regarding the cancellation again in AUG 2010. And now, they won't refund my money ($180.00!) I am in the process of calling the chicago branch to see if they have a copy of my cancellation form that I had signed in July. I was not asked for a copy in August when this issue came up and I was reassured that it would be resolved. BOTTOM LINE: I did not authorize these charges and they need to be refunded. Your Desired Resolution: $180 refund for the 3 months (Sept-Nov) membership fees which I did not authorize.
I signed up for their monthly service. Put it on my card so they can charge me monthly. I had a family emergency and had to cancel my appointment. They said they would have to charge me for half of the monthly charge of $49. So I called my bank an they said they charged my card the full $49 I have tried to also find the corporate number with no luck. Obviously by the complaints they are getting this company will not be in the game for long. I would never. I repeat never recommend this company again ever they are crooks oh an by the way do not ever give them your card it is a major chain of events time and energy to get out. Also their massage therapist are a flipping joke. Bad Karma for this company I am telling you. The place is a joke.
