I was connected to AOL in India five hundred times over the past several years. Tonight was the final straw. Technical support person did not speak English. Apparently, the people who ship jobs overseas really don't care about your privacy. Tech support was asking for my mother's maiden name. They ask all kinds of information that I'd be giving to a bank. What is wrong with this company and why aren't they policing anyone who could be linked with identity theft?
Attn. CEO., AOL, US. HQ, Dear Sir, I now realize as to why so many AOL members showed dissatisfaction and back out not using your services any longer. You said repeatedly in your media, you value your member's suggestions but on the hand you don't give a dam what they say nor taking a look at their request. Truly you, as head of the AOL should know how screw up the company you are now running. I have written more than 10 times yet I NOT even had a COURTESY REPLY. There is a lot of mail operators out in the Market place where Consumers can choose. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE. Don't make 'Service is our business' as verbal slogan without doing it. You have made a dirt in the company you serve. I wish your Board can see this ??? I had an AOL a/c UNDER THE NAME OF davidraykung for years and the service was an average. All of a Sudden my a/c was blocked without a reason and simply just couldn't get it opened. I was at your 'forgot password column' which did not help. I am a US citizen working in Taiwan for an assignment. I also used long distance to call your CS BUT TO NO AVAIL EITHER. I have written 'N' number of times to your various departments and had NOT even had a courtesy reply. The question on the table now is 'Is that the way how you guys do business at AOL ? Please tell me what to do next if I want to reactivate my a/c ? Pleases communicate with me through davidrayyc@gmail.com Thanks for your Help and sincerely hope I got a reply back this time ! Thanks and have a nice day.
Seriously, Screw this company. I only have had an AOL account since 1997 and then some outsourcing guy with a dog barking in the background of his house tries to scam me this Saturday that just passed but it didn't work but I was pissed of course and hang up on the guy an then try calling Tech Support back to get a different agent to complain and I get the typical prerecorded female operator type voice saying this number is not working any longer and it is due to 'toll forwarding.com' the voice says. I figured he blocked my number and was working out of his house in India trying to scam people with a dog barking in the background. I called a different number on that same Saturday and got a different department and the agent tried calling the number I did for Tech Support which was 1-800-876-4950 and he said the number didn't work for him either. I called that number that whole Saturday and it never worked again that day. Perfect day to scam someone would be on a weekend I figured. So I call AOL Corporate on Monday (today) just to be pushed to an answering machine in the middle of my story. So then I have to tell the whole story over to the machine and of course the machine cuts off. So I call back and leave the second half of my message and as I am done I look at my phone and it has been disconnected. Who knows how long I was talking to myself for. I'm not pissed that they outsource because everyone does it. But when they have no control and their Outsourcers that are trying to scam me for personal information then that is a problem I would think they would like to know about. I gave them exact times I called that number from me Cell Phone. They can't trace that? I will never know because they sent me to an answering machine because they don't give a fuck. Fuck AOL. The only reason I have it is because I identified with it as a youth when I used to use their chat rooms. Now, and for a few years I have just used their e-mail address service. I told Corporate that they need to reinvent their company and come up with a new logo and name and say 'under new management' and try to trick a different demographic to using their services because right now they are worthless and don't even care. Time Warner got screwed by merging with them and the AOL brand is always being called a shit product but loyal people like me stayed with it because it was a part of my youth. Now, I say fuck them too. They don't care people they hire are scamming poor Americans. Nah, they don't care, trust me. Maybe I should call the AOL Huffington Post and see what they say. A part of me died on Saturday when for the first time since 1997 an AOL employee was trying to scam me out of money plus all kind of personal information that goes beyond my User ID and Name on my account and a main AOL Corporate worker in the New York office just sends me to an answering machine in the middle of listening to my story that I would think effects her fucking job without even telling me she was going to do so. Yeah AOL. Way to care about your loyal fan base.
Seriously, Forget this company. I gave them exact time I called that number from me Cell Phone and for how long I was on the phone with this person for and how unprofessional they sounded. I figured AOL Tech Support had got hacked themselves that day. I was hoping they would be able to trace that. I will never know because she sent me to an answering machine because they don't care. Thanks AOL. The only reason I have AOL in the first place is because I identified with it as a youth when I used to use their chat rooms. Now, and for a few years I have just used their e-mail address service. I told Corporate Office in New York (212) 226-4400 that they need to reinvent their company and come up with a new logo and name and then say 'under new management' and try to get a different demographic to restart using their services again because right now they really don't care and I am a living sign of that and how I was treated by Corporate Office. Time Warner got ripped off by merging with them and the AOL brand is always being called a declining product by a lot of people but loyal people like me stayed with it because it was a part of my youth. Now, I'm going to start saying the same thing too. They don't care people they hire are scamming poor Americans. Nah, they don't care, trust me. Yeah AOL. Way to care about your loyal fan base. I don't care if the Admin approves this or not. It will go on every Forum I know of if it doesn't. Edit: This is the cleaned up version because I figured Admin would not approve of my curse words here and there.
This email is for Aol Corporate Office. I am having problems for several days signing on to aol. I need a technical (Aol) to solve this issue immediately, because everytime I try to sign aol sends me a message informing me of wiring. A computer technician in my state told that there was nothing wrong with my computer that the issue was on Aol. Please fix this issue immediately.
Ever since huffington post took over, aol has become impossible. That is because, as you can tell by there news releases, they re only interested in spreading their political propaganda. I have decided that it is a waste of time to fool with them there are many other companies that would appreciate my business. I suggest everyone else do the same. Willard davis
I don't know the AOL welcome was changed, but I don't like it! Get it back to the old one with the current temperature at the top!!!!!!!
AOL cancelled my service along with 4 of my family members. I've tried everything to find out why but am told that they can't access my account. I had approx. 1500 e-mails and about 200 e-mail address -- all lost. I keep getting the runaround -- they'll contact me in 2 hrs., in 72 hrs., etc. I'm telling everyone I know to never ever use AOL. I can relate to so many of the things previously posted here. I've tried being nice, I've tried being ugly -- all to no avail. This is a fine way to treat someone who has had AOL for over 30 years. It's no wonder they're losing customers!!!

I have used AOL ever since before they had 10,000 members and it seems with each upgrade, the service has gotten worse and worse. I have switched to Google's Gmail and to Yahoo for my business and personal emails, since on AOL my account has been hacked or probed mored and more. I use AOL mainly for entertainment and social functions since most of my online friends that are left, still use the service. The trouble is that the chat rooms have become a breeding ground for hackers, porn bots, and racists. I have been litterally contacting aol for several yrs now, trying to have them do something to one hacker to blows up the rooms, and causes the member's computer's to lock up. I get someone in India who can only read a script and not deal with the issue at hand. Then after going through all of it with them, they tell me it's nothing that they can do, and then transfers me to another person and I repeat the whole process over again. I keep this up till they either run out of people to tranferme to, or I mysteriously get disconnected and have to start the whole process over again.. This has been going on for at least 2 yrs and no action has been taken. I still see the same person, using the same names that I have reported. I would not even give aol, 1 star if it were possible. Do not use AOL if you want it to be secure.
I was billed by AOL for close to six years and never knew it. My family and I had just gone through hurricane Katrina and lost everything. Move to Dallas,Tx and opened a bank account. I was not until I move back to New Orleans a year and half ago that it was discovered AOL had been receiving approximately $33 a month from my Texas bank acct. It was discovered when the funds in the account in Texas reached to low balance and the AOL monthly payment of $33 caused a over draft. When questioning the over draft it was brought to my attention the reason for the overdraft. I was then informed that payment extended as far back as Dec. 2011. After investigating father I discovered that AOL had been recahing payment from by acct since jan. 2007. I never used AOL, except for email acct that was free. The bank only adjusted 3 months. Now I must filed fraud charge and possibly a lawsuit to regain the income lost. AOL Is NOT TO BE TRUSTED !!!
you have the worst billing dept. I've ever seen. I am forwarding my complaints to the FCC in Washington D.C., to the Indiana Utility Commission which handles complaints about the internet, phone communications, etc. I am also contacting the BBB as well. I have tried to straighten out my bill for two months, been hung up on many times by your billing department and when trying to contact your CEO at AOL headquarters found that all that's done is that I am once again routed to the same people I have tried to reach for two months. davidblouir@frontier.com AC-219-793-6628
Been a paying customer for many years and now I get AOL for free. They never did much in the way of blocking spam before and now they dont seem to care that the spam is totally out of control. I paid them a lot of money when I had dial up and was never late with a payment. Would I ever pay them again for their services? Never. Their tech support is a total joke, and everyone seems to be employed in India.
I'm not sure what the Star rating is all about. I've had an AOL account for many years. I've been relatively happy with it, but I have to tell you that I'm really sick of seeing all the references to Barack Obama. While I understand that the Huffington Post LOVES our President there are many that do NOT support his agenda, nor would they vote for him. I really wish you would take all the references off my AOL. I'm just very tired of seeing them everyday. If you can't do that please let me know and I will check around for another provider. I thank you for your time.
I have been trying for 3 months to have my screen name and email previalges restored,I have sent so many letters and all I get in return is "you will get a reply within 48hrs". I did receive 2 replies from them telling me I had abused their terms of service, I am a 65 years old disabled person and asked what terms I had abused and got a reply that in order to have my mail restored I had to lose all previous emails, to which I sent a reply agreeing with their terms and got another 48hr reply email which never was answered. I explained my screen name and email was important to me since being disabled my monthly bills were sent to that email address and that all my shopping was completed on-line, I didn't have all my email address's as they and my favorites had also been removed. Received another reply saying they would contact me in 48hrs and still nothing. I consider my emails private as in my mail through the post office. I don't mind losing all previous mail from my aol account just want my mail privialges restored and to find out what terms they say I abused. I did contact them telling them my email might have been hijacked but they never responded to that either. I think 3 months is long enough to get a reply. I am not a paying aol member so no tech support will talk to me about this so would like a phone number to file a complaint and get this matter resolved once and for all. Thank you for any help you can supply.
aol keeps dunning me for two months of "membership" which i dont owe. there is no one to talk to; my letters dont help as no one seems to keep track of correspondance. I can picture a giant trash basket outside the entrance to their doors, where the mail gets deposited before it makes it inside the door.. AOL should realize that they are NOT "too big to fail" and if they keep on treating customers fraudulently, eventually people will wise up and leave them. there are plenty of other carriers out there.
Ever since AOL changed the Welcome Screen I continue to have problems about 95% of the time when I logon getting a message that pops up saying... "Your AOL email is not available..." That is usually after gettting dropped about 20 times just trying to get on AOL to only be told I can't access my email. Where then, I have to log off, sign back on, and click the "Read" before the Welcome screen loads and I get the email not available notice again. I reported this problem all the way back in September to AOL's tech support over the phone. At that time, I was told the issue was a software problem with the new Welcome screen and it was being worked on. Here it is December, and I continue to have the same problem over and over again. Maybe AOL should go back to the OLD Welcome Screen. At least then, all I had to deal with were access problems. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE go back to the original Welcome screen since it's apparent the problems with the new one can't be fixed!!!!
All I have to say is that AOL can no longer pretend to not receive phone calls and letters as a defense for tapping into former customers' accounts to steal money. I have had it! I cancelled our AOL accound approx. 8-10 years ago. It was quite an exhausting experience involving several phone calls and two separate letters written and mailed. At last it was done! No more auto debits from our checking account. Well, 8-10 years later (Nov. 2011) we get a letter in the mail telling us our account is over due by $100.75! Only thing is since we nolonger had the old checking account they somehow began debiting my husband's AmX account. When I called to find out what the heck this was about, the 'so called' customer service representative tells me that we're over due because they could no longer access our account. That's because we lost the card and had to cancel it to get a new one. Had this not happened they would still be billing us! To our neglect we don't check the purchases on our statement very closely, just scan it to check for large dollar purchases. When I asked the customer service rep. for the corporate office he acted as though he didn't know how to get in touch with corporate. When I persisted he put me on hold and gave me a Dulles, VA address. He then told me that he did not know the name of the CEO and that there was no corporate phone number and refused to give me a phone number no matter how much I insisted. I later found on the internet a corporte address and phone number in New York. I was unable to find the name of the CEO anywhere on their BIZZARE website. After reading (and printing) all of the horrible reviews/complaints from customers, it is clear that AOL needs to be investigated and I am now inspired to go after getting my money back!! AOL is a dishonest business. A bunch of crooks!!
After calling tech support and the robotic voice cannot hear the first three letters of my screen name, I have moved so cannot use phone or zip as I do not remember which they have and cannot get into my account to find out, I called the corporate office and pressed zero for assistance. So far I got to select 2 for East Coast office and have been on hold for almost 10 minutes with no music, no taking just like a dead phone but see the minutes are being counted so know I am on eternal hold. Probably could leave and come back tomorrow and still be on hold. I called many numbers I found online and got VM. So I cannot get tech support or anyone at AOL to talk to me but a robotic voice that cannot hear. I upgraded to Version 10 at the threat of losing my favorites if I stay with 9.6 (sounding more and more like Microsoft) so made the change. No it won't load favorites and loaded Personal Filing Cabinets but lost all the segregated folders. Yes, I am a paying customer and have been for years but that may end very soon.
The Editor in Charge, Accidentally I saw my write up in your column this morning but the date was in Mar, 25 which means you did receive my previous letters with the same contents. If that is true , after a lap of month and a half, still no reply ? The worse part is not even an acknowledgement ? You have deleted my paragraph criticizing your CEO ? Why ? If you want to communicate with me in private, please write to me CONFIDENTIALLY to davidrayyc@gmail.com Thank you. Ray
