I have been a 15 year customer of SunTrust and I am leaving! The customer service is terrible. You can't get anyone who can answer a question and when you do they tell you the wrong thing. I have had at least six horror stories in the last six months. The worse of these was SunTrust allowed someone to draw my account in increments of $3,000 until almost all the money was gone. Then it took then 10 business days to give me my money back. Please look at other banks don't make the mistake of banking here!

I have been using Suntrust for a couple of years. I actually opened an account with Suntrust because I had very good relationship with Suntrust Australia and their customer service was excellent. However, this Suntrust America is a piece of shit, their customer service is the most awful one I've ever experienced in my whole life. They charge twice more than other bank for "stop payment", and they try to rip you off all times while charging extra. They charged overdraft fee from my account although I already setup there is no overdraft charge between Suntrust and me since 08/13/2010. They never apologize at all, and their representatives of customer service are very rude. I'd like to contact with consumer affair for this filthy behavior of Suntrust America unless they pay back to me the reward what they bothered me since I opened an account.

Hi. I have been banking at SunTrust for about 8 years. On December 15th 2011 I went to the bank on Severce road in West Memphis AR. It is in a Wal Mart,and I have a problem. There was a new employee there her name is Debi. When I get cash back I always get it the same way twentys,tens,fives,and ones. I saw her count my money She counted twenys,tens and fives. When she got to the ones she told me that she did not have any ones,so she picked up all the money,and took it to the back room to get the ones. She came back and recounted the money and gave it to me. I was short forty dallors in fives,so I called the bank,and I talked to Asst. Manager. Her name is Teresa. She told me that she would check into the situation,and have the other 2 employees check into it tomorrow. She also, told me that she would call me back. I realize that it was closing time,so I said ok. The next day I was back because we got a bonus from work. I wanted to put that money in my checking account. This is December 16th. Teresa never called me back. I called her back. She toild me that Debi's money drawer came out ok.,and that there was no problems,and then she just blew me off,and then she hook up the phone. I have a couple of problems with this situation. One, Teresa being the Asst. Manager she did not handle this herself. She let the other employees handle this. Two,Teresa told me that her money drawer came out right. Well of course it did. Debi,could of left the money in the back room while she was getting the one dallors bills,and she put the money to the side while counting it. A number of things could of happened.I was short $40.00 of fives. What makes me upset about this whole things is how I was treated. Tresa never called me back. She let her other employees handle this situation,she just blew me off with no regrades of my feelings. My big question is that nobody never looked at the cameras in the bank to see what the problem was. If someone did they would of seen Debi counting out my money that did iunclude five dollars biils,You would of seen her going to the back room to get the ones. You would of seen her in the back room to do what ever she did,and you would of seen her not give me any five dollar bills that she counted out in the fist place. If someone did you would of seen some dirty work that took place.I would like someone to take a real look into this situation.and find out what really happened to those five dollar bills.I was in the bank on Dec. 15th at around 3:30. I am a single person. I am a teacher. I work very hard for my money. All I want is what is mine nothing more and nothing less. I want someone else besides Teresa to handle this,and I want soneone to call me back to tell me what happened to those five dollar bills. 2006 credit score 910 property appraised at 397000 by Sun Trust Bank and mortgage company! Took out equity loan for property improvement, then the bottom fell out unable to sell, applied for Modification was to take 3 months , took sixteen months and they inadvertently sent 16 lates to credit bureau's . Unable to work as Rn after 26 years open heart triple by pass neuropathy in feet and hands! Used two credit cards while trying to sell house, and maxed them out begged them to lower their interest rates of 22 and 29% interest was never late on a payment to them or my mortgage ever! Stopped paying credit cards last April , applied to Chemical Bank for loan on free and clear property here in Mi came back with sixteen lates on credit Contacted Sun Trust was told it will take a month to remove error sent me a letter hope we didn't inconvience you was a clerical error, sent proof to Chemical bank was denied now I am two months late on credit cards! Tried 3 different banks same thing your credit is no good . Well now my credit is no good after paying for 32 years and never behind or late for anything outstanding! Have been sending equity loan payments two weeks late. Tried to get someone to look at my past credit history, can't be bothered your credit score is 400, now My car insurance went up 400.00 a year due to credit rating never mind my 82 year old husband is a 64 year member. We worked all our lives, being responsible people I gave back to my community as a Registered for 26 years in Florida and in Mi, I am 69 years old and I am broke busted and disgusted, when I took out the loan from sun trust mortgage they came to the house to close the mortgage I told the lender make sure I can afford the payments, well we were about to close when I noticed there was no flood insurance included in the payment, I said are you crazy we are six canals off the front! Gulf of Mexico! she called oh that will be another hundred a month Oh! Ok When Katrina took out Louisiana our house insurance went from 1700.00 a year to 5,000 a year. Respectfully I am going to sue you for 1 million dollars you are the cause of my health problems as well as the Beggar status I now own.

Just a followup on my earlier comments concerning my checking account. I understand they were hacked into just wondering if this was true. I know once again I can't use my bankcard and this has been going on since last Wednesday. I supposed they have chosen to remain silent because I haven't heard any news and my account is still on hold as of this very minute. I know they don't read these things but hopefully the people do before they open an account with this very low rated institution. I would close my account if they could keep their system up for more than and hour so I would have time to get to the freakin bank. Oh, one other thing I wrote my son a 500.00 check while their system was supposedly down and guess what it bounced and I had plenty of funds in my account before they shut my account down and they didn't contact me and they're suppose to text me when they have a problem! They charged me all kinds of fees and him too...

This is the worst I have ever been treated by a bank. They are just the worst. I will be taking my business elsewhere quickly before they try to take the rest of my single mother income.

Due to your service charge of $7.20 which took effect Nov. 10 i have had to close my Savings Account of $8,000.00. (approx) I transfered it to my checking account that i have with you and will be wrighting a check for the full amount in a short time. It doesnt seem fare to me for you to only give me $1.20 (approx) for my savings for this month and you charge me $7.20 a month for not having $500 in my checking account. I also have a Suntrust Charge Card that i will also be canceling when the payment comes due. I changed my Savings Account a few years ago when you were offing 2% where my other bank was only offering 1% so therefore i will be setting up another savings account with the other bank rather than pay you $7.20 a month for the small amount you are paying me. Im sure a lot of customers will be doing the same thing and im sure the other banks will be glad to get new customers. I have reviewed your new plans for keeping my accoung with you and none of them fit my terms for doing business with you. Thanks Ric Hartgrove

This is the crumbiest bank I have ever been with and I am 55 yrs olds and been with several banks in the past but this bank takes the cake their bankcards go down on a regular basis leaving all their customers stranded without any funds because they went with mastercard and you can't get money from your bank without a bankcard. There phone systems are designed to put you on hold before you can even talk to a human being and who has ever heard of automated phone systems in a bank branch...come on!! I wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour every time I call. The quality of personel is below standard no doubt. Theses are branches in NC too. I opened an accounted with Suntrust 3 wks. ago and my checkcard has only worked one time in this whole entire time. We are in the midst of another bank card breakdown as we speak its been 5 days since the last time I even attempted to try to use my card. They constantly lie to you on when they will have the problem fixed too, which was supposed to have been fixed yesterday the 8th day of Nov. 2011. I am appalled they are allowed to do banking in this state!!

Having been with Sun trust for 21 yrs I have come to realize that with each passing years they figure better ways to SCREW THEIR CUSTOMERS, BIG TIME! Now the latest "IF YOU USE THE SUNTRUST ATM AT A SUN TRUST BANK MORE THEN 2x in a month you will be charged $4.00 for EACH TRANSACTION. IMAGINE HAVING TO PAY FOR THE USE OF A NON SALARY-BENEFIT ROBOT? now HERE IS THE REALLY STUPID PART IF YOU GO IN THE BANK AND BOTHER A TELLER AND I SAY THAT BECAUSE THATS IS THE WAY THEY TREAT YOU. AND THEY HAVE TO TAKE THEIR TIME AND EFFORE YOU DON'T PAY ANYTHING ? SUN TRUST BANKS SUCK AND KEEP GETTING WORSE! MAYBE IF THEY WOULD CUT THE OVERHEAD WITH THE MILLION DOLLAR BRANCHES WITH 3 PEOPLE MANNING THEM AND CONCENTRATE ON SERVICE THEY MIGHT BE OK. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO CANCELL ALL THEIR ACCTS AND MOVE TO ANOTHER BANK ASAP!!!!

I opened up an account with suntrust and i deposited a check in the account the check came back no good but i payed the fee of 12.50 and they told me today my account was closed on Oct. 18. Then i went back the same day and told them that i called my job and my employer said my check was deposited in that account on Oct. 27. So i went back to suntrust and they told me that they sent the check back. How can you send a direct deposit back on the 27th if your account is closed on the 18 th. What is wrong with thst picture i will never bank there anymore. Suntrust is terible. :(

well its like this and its not my fault what i now have to do because they have made me homeless diane evans confirmed this also she works in the head office of suntrust i have over 125 recordings that i have made with them and they have 125 recordings i have made with them also melissa beamon in the fraud department also told me on tape that my money was indeed stolen form me by them also i have a letter from them stating i am right so as now they leave me no choice its off to the court system for relief if you have any stocks in this great company you might want to sell them

The regional decision to charge seniors debit card use fee and monthly maint fees and to eliminate SENIOR CHECKING altogether and replace it with everyday checking( every fee checking) is counterintuitive knowing howmany seniors in southern states used senior free checking. Our intention and thousands of others, is to seek out a better bank. Not hard to do in this climate of angst and big banking. In trying to contact them to close my account, I note there are no women on the Board of Directors!

I have been a Suntrust customer since 1976. I have always had a good experience with them. I am so disappointed that they are going to jump on the band wagon and join forces with America's "bank robber" bank of American in ripping off their customers with this ridiculous monthly debit card fee. I would ask Suntrust to start doing smart marketing- this would mean, stand back and start scooping up all of the customers that are going to leave BOA. It doesn't take a wizard to realize that client bases can be built on unhappy customers. Suntrust, for your decision to join the other ignorant "brain trusts" (your competitors),I have to give you only one star. Sorry- but you make me nervous when you willingly give up the character of your institution to follow the same rip-off behavior that banks that are well known to have legal problems, IE: Bank of America, Wells Fargo.

WOW! Only one favorable rating out of the bunch.Sounds like it will only be a matter of time before that one will be disappointed. I sure am and I haven't made my first payment.I sure wished I would have read these reviews before purchasing a new vehicle. The dealership offered me a very good interest rate thru Suntrust and I jumped on it. Opps, now it reminds me of the trap with a hunk of chez and the mouse who pounced on it.I received my statement indicating a payment book is on its way. I soley use online bill pay and, after being transferred and on hold forever, was shocked to discover that Suntrust DOES NOT offer this option. Their solution: open a Suntrust account with min deposit and monthly fees, then I have to set up autopay and transfer funds from my bank to theirs. Talk about jumping thru hoops. How can an institution as large as Suntrust be so behide the times? I mean do they want their money or not? Will not recomment to anyone and will be looking to refi somewhere else.

Dealing with Rep Ardeline Phillips was horrendous. This bank representative threatened charge back action against our company because USPS tracking # did not have the mutual customers address. How silly is this? I am wondering if the poor skills of this representative is indicative of the services of this bank. I have lots of family and business associates that are always looking for my opinion on banks and this will definitely be one of the worst.

I dont have a suntrust account but i walked into a branch in atlanta and was refused a currency exchange. I had 4 rolls of pennies that I was trying to turn into paper money, to ride the bus. I was told that because i dont have an account that they wont (not cant) do it, first. The teller went on to tell me that they have no way of verifying the actual amount of pennies i had. I called the corporate offices to complain and they told me that some branches dont have a coin counter.... Wait how does the bank verify how much money they recieve from there corporate banks? I was told that because the coins are counted and rolled by a machine that there is no need to verify the funds from there corporate bank. Is it just me or wouldnt you want your bank physically verify deposits? Suntrust sucks and I suggest pulling your money out and going to bank of america, wells fargo, or something.

Your bank sux! try ally bank no fee's! no minimum ballance. Your merchant services suck too! an extra 80.00 for pci compliance. Just awfull

Suntrust bank uses Rasmussen real estate company here in the Atlanta metro area, to sell their foreclosure. When you try to purchase a home they tell you they have multiple offers and you need to raise your offer price if you want to purchase the home. This has been going on for some time now, Suntrust doesn't care if the real estate company they are using, act like a bunch of used car salesmen, pulling the bait and switch game. Then it will be ten to twelve days before they come back and say sorry, someone out bid you, most of the time it will be a home agent from rasmussen realty who is representing the winning buyer and they keep all of the commission, because they tell their buyers how much to bid, since they have seen all the other offers. In the mean time while the buyers are thinking they may be buying a home, other homes they liked are being sold out from under them. If your in the real estate business, I would not show any rasmussen homes, also write the board of realtors on these liars and cheats, if you use suntrust bank, I would close my accounts and go else where.

DUMMEST IGNORANT PEOPLE YOU YOU FIND DONT EVER SEND THEM AN INSURANCE CHECK AND HOPE TO GET IT BACK ANY TIME SOON.
