Deceptive sales practices

Salesman showed up at my door and said they were doing neighborhood promotion where I would get system to secure my house for no charge if I would sign up for monthly monitoring. Installer showed up and said the no charge system was insufficient to secure my house and much more $$ would be needed to secure the house. Beware - ADT is definitely a bait and switch company

15 year reflection

I have been an ADT customer for 15+ years and have seen my service quality diminish in the past three years. I had an aging system that I complained about numerous times and had serviced for the past two years. I finally had to threaten to terminate my contract to get a 15 yr old keypad replaced, complain also with billing to get my bill lowered and dealt with a realtor/ADT rep who was unprepared to show me this new 'Pulse' system versus what ADT was already offering online...smh The newer customers are getting great tech systems and lower rates but the long-time customer is getting ignored and overcharged.

Realtor Rewards Program.

ADT advertised and promised a referral fee if clients signed up for their service. No referral fees were ever paid. This is a scam, and people should be aware that it's a come-on to get leads. Realtors who have influence over where buyers go to purchase a security system need to be aware that they will be treated rudely and with disrespect. We will never recommend ADT again!

NO Customer Service

The worst possible help from ADT. Their corporate office hides behind Faxes and written letters only. I am sorry I ever sign up with ADT Cant wait til contract ends.

I have had 10 phone calls from ADT in a week wanting me to install their security system. Even if I wanted a security system I wouldn't go with a company that hounds you to death. What an annoying company.

Run while you can.

The worst company ever. There is no customer service. The local sales reps run away with your check and never answer calls. They sell you junk that doesn't work correctly. THEN, they keep calling for your monthly payments. The government from every state should look into these people. Complete scam artists. CALL CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS if you really want something to happen.

I have been trying for 4 months to cancel my service. ADT still debits my account while giving me hoops to jump through to cancell.

Absloutly a worst customer service co. A perfect example of monopoly. Mangaers in NY LI area are arrogant. Waisted my 5 days. do not do business and complain to attorney general to cancel theri license for NY area

Worst than Comcast for customer service

My alarm system does not work at all. ADT is well aware that my system does not work. Despite this information, they have cancelled three service calls! I took a day off from work for the first one, which happened to be on a holiday, when ADT was closed. ADT cancelled the second and third appointments because the technician was "behind schedule." How can they charge so much from so many customers but cannot hire more technicians? Shame, shame on ADT.

Rip off

I ordered an ADT security system from protect your home in the Dallas area. When my house was built the builders did not install the magnets on the bottom of all my windows. They do that so you will use their security company and they will install the magnets for you. I went with ADT Protect your home and after 1 year I am still waiting on my magnets to be installed. i have constantly called Protect your home but I keep getting the run around. What a giant mistake I made. If I just stop paying them then I have credit problems. I can't find anyone at Protect your home to help me. Instead of having credit issues i guess i have to honor the contract for the next two years. Unbelievable.

FRAUD COMPANY

I had service with ADT over 13 years ago. They put my account in collections saying that I owe them 1200.00 because I moved before my contract was up.......as a result my crdit score dropped 82 points, it took them 1 day to destroy something it took me years to build.....I will have justice on these idiots.....

Kurt Olson how do I get in touch with you regarding the class action. My experience is the same story as those written on this site. I should have done my research. ADT and their authorized dealers do not care about providing you piece of mind, they only want your money.

Stay away !!

I purchased a a home alarm system from ADT, installed by Elite security, Elite was running a sign up promotion where you turn ib receipts for gas and food stuff addiing up to $100 per month, they would send you a $40 Visa Debit card totaling &1,000 in rebates. Never saw a dime - total rip off, Neither ADT or Elite security to any responsilbilty

Password

When they set your system up and you sign your three year contract you would think that the password would be your ownership either at the beginning of the contract or at the termination of your three years obligation. That is not the case with them. When my three years were done I contacted ADT Corporate and they refused to give me my password to access my system. I then turned to the installer of my system who no longer was an authorized ADT installer and explained to him my issue. He stated he knew how he could either get it or change it so I would have it but only if I would sign a two year contract with him. My advice to anyone thinking of using these people make sure you obtain your proprietary code before installation because you will never get it after. This is a fraudulent manner to do business and their integrity is for all intense purposes, useless. So buyer beware.

This company gives a person a hard time when treminating services. They put me on hold for over an hour.

Please contact me if you have an interest in being part of a class action suit against ADT & Protect Your Home (The really bad rip off contractor that advertises and steal from people that think they are actually dealing with ADT). ADT seems to want to protect this crooked company they contract with. Avoid them both like the plague.

Employment Practices

I would like someone in upper management or ownership to call me and help me to understand the employment practices my niece was subjected to while in ADT's employment. She worked 80 hour weeks with no pay unless a system was sold. She worked with a team of managers that seemed "suspect" in their sales practices and customer approach. On many occasions police were called to get the ADT Sales Team out of their homes and neighborhoods. It is ironic that a company that markets themselves as a company that keeps your family safe, doesn't take care of their own employees via pay or safety.

Overall

I have had no problem with the electronic part of this service. The problem is with the "authorized ADT Representatives". These are the people who breach contracts. Now I have finally found the HQ (after 4 previous useless contacts) I will submit in writing prior to litigation as I am out of patience.

Lousy System

I have had nothing but trouble with the ADT system which was installed 6 months ago. Within the first week of it being installed, the entire system went off twice when I opened the door. I raced to the keypad and was able to turn it off. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I called ADT to tell them (both times) what had happened. No excuses given. Someone came out and said he'd fixed it. Then, a couple of months later, the alarm went off while I was gone, prompting a call from ADT to my neighbor's house. The entire neighborhood was out in the street, fearing I'd been hurt, or someone had broken in to the house. I was told ADT had, by mistake, set it off while testing it. Twice in the past month the panel has gone off, sounding beeps every few seconds. The first time occurred in the middle of the night. I called and was told it was a transformer problem somewhere. The only appt available was 3 weeks away. Some guy showed up with no card to identify himself. He did not know how to fix the problem, so was calling the "home office" over and over. He set off the outside alarm several times, saying that was also a problem. I don't know if that was true or not. He left w/o taking the system out of "testing mode." The second time the beeping occurred was in the early morning hours. I called and was told someone could come out in three weeks. I said that was not acceptable. Someone is coming out tomorrow. I just want this system out of here. I spent nearly $3,000 for a system which does not work. I am writing to the CEO of ADT, and am telling everyone I know to run, not walk, away from this company.

STAY AWAY FROM ADT

I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I PURCHASED A NEW ADT SYSTEM IN OCTOBER, THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT WORKED CORRECTLY SINCE IT WAS INSTALLED. MY SYSTEM IS NOT EVEN BEING MONITORED BY ADT BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT. ADT HAS BEEN OUT TO MY HOUSE EVERY SATURDAY, NOT MENTION A FEW DAYS THROUGH THE WEEK TO TRY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANAGER AND HE APPEARS TO NOW BE IRRITATED WITH ME!!! THE NERVE I HAVE LOST SO MUCH TIME WAITING AROUND FOR ADT TO REPAIR THEIR EQUIPMENT BUT YET IT STILL DOES NOT WORK!! I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
