I live in kansas. Today my son who is 11 was kicked out of the ymca for having words with a 17 year old. He was teasing my son about having a better pair of shoes then my 11 year old and told him that if he doesnt hush up he was going to beat him up so then my son said i will beat you up. So then my son made a comment about his teeth. Gets kicked out till the 5th of February. The manager explained that these are petty reasons thatlead up to him being kicked out for this matter. My son dribbles the basketball in the hallway, may run when has been told to walk. If they are going to do that to my child they should do that to all of the children have the same consequences for each child. The day before New Years Eve. My son was playing basketball in the gym and a few boys got in a fight and my son was just watching and did nothing and a grown lady walked up to him and said "See this is whats wrong with you colored kids" Color has nothing to do with what happened, but nothing happened to that lady or did those kids get banned from the ymca for a month for fighting . My son had words with someone 6 yrs older then him and he was kicked out. I am sorry, but you will kick my son out for teasing a kid after he teased him but do nothing regarding a fight or discriminative comment. This world is back words. I agree my son needs to have a consequence but not kicked out for a month. If you are going to kick my son out for sticking up to himself to a 17 year old then the woman that categorized my son should be kicked out and the children fighting should also.
I contacted the Y.M.C.A. offices in Chiang Mai, Thailand for the purpose of having a document translated from English to Thai. I was quoted a price of approximately $60.00 (approximate due to the conversion rate between U.S. Dollar and Thai Baht), and that the translation would be official and completed on December 2, 2011. On November 24, 2011, I paid 50% down and received a receipt; number 21826 for said payment. On November 29, 2011, the translation was cancelled. I telephoned the Y.M.C.A. office in Chiang Mai at 66(53)221-819 to cancel the translation. I was told that someone would be returning my call. No one called, so I called again on November 30, 2011. I was told that it is the policy of the Y.M.C.A. not to return deposits. I was not told this before, and there is no language on the receipt to so indicate. Please tell me how I am to receive return of my $30.00 deposit. Thank you David R. LeRoy Attorney at Law E-mail - Davidrleroy@gmail.com.
My 5 year old attended the after school program today. I was there to pick her up at 5:30pm and the staff had no idea where my child was at. I then began to call the school and noticed the bus drop off the kids across the street in front off the YMCA packing lot. A 5 year old having to cross a busy street then walk through a parking without any supervision. Anything can happen, I am concerned for her safety. I paid the membership fees for this service and this not acceptable. I spoke with the staff which was the manager of the YMCA at 1711 West Broadway Minneapolis, MN 55411 612-588-9484. She stated that it is not their respectability! The parents are trusting that their child is safe and the staff is too busy having conversation among themselves instead of making sure children are safe. I was told by the manager that I need to speak to the bus company concerning the drop off location. I intend to do that, but it is their job to make sure where and how the children are being dropped off! Is this "family friendly"?
Our ymca has a satellite location that offers tennis. They purchased the building and kept the tennis courts, but they actively disregard any members concerns about growing the program. The answer we all get from the executive director is "we are not a tennis club". Do you need to be a "tennis club" to get a net repaired, a light bulb replaced ? Another issue is the HUGE demand for lessons. I don't know if anyone noticed, but tennis is a tough sport to learn on your own. The executive director again gives us the "we are not a tennis club" speech, but at the same time, they offer private swim lessons at the other location downtown. What gives ?
I need someone to contact me about the child program as there was and is an issue with the staff at the YMCA getting back with parents in an appropriate time frame which resulted in my bank account being over drawn when the funds were available through another venue for my child' two week day camp to be paid. I was ran around, the staff at multiple locations told me that they were not the person to talk with about the situation and were not interested in resolving the matter. the two people that I needed to talk with were on vacation, and the funds were withdrawn from my account which overdrew that particular household account. I received a letter today stating that I can not attend any branch of the YMCA until it is taken care of, but to my knowledge they were paid through another payment source. My membership is paid ever month as I subscribe through my employer and I pay the match. It is not professional in the manner that this was handled from the child care coordinator, the secretary in the administrative office to the Upper Manager with whom I left a message on his phone who never called me personally, but asked someone else. It really gripes me, when I have volunteered to be a coach for Soccer when no other parent would step forward so kids could participate in TMCA soccer sports to be treated in this manner. I was there for the YMCA to make sure that the kids in the community were taken care of for the YMCA, but the YMCA could not make ONE phone call to stop payment from my account and make sure that my child was taken care of for two weeks in the summer. In both instances, the YMCA finanically benifited from both, and me? I get a letter stating that I can't use their YMCA because they took money that was not authorized in the first place from my account when I made them aware of that situation. My number is 316-990-1089
The YMCA likes to be considered "family friendly", but when it comes to helping families they don't like to help. I recently moved and wanted to cancel my membership, they needed me to come in person. I also put my own money on a card for kid care, but when I don't use all the hours up I cannot get that money back-Thanks a lot!! I hate dealing with the staff.
I'm a disabled vet in lancaster, ohio the cost of a membership is way out of my range , I want to try to lose weight the only way I can do this is in the water ,cause of my disablity . I asked for a way to get help with the membership so I could afford it ,my answer was if you are not a active service we can not help you , (DEAR Y.M.C.A. I WAS active when I became disabled)just some help for the disable vets would be nice , thank you ED MOORE
Hello, The Owen County YMCA discriminates against anyone who is fit. They cater to overweight temp members and insult and demean the rest.get fit program is ridiclous. No one loses weight. They just hog the cardio equip. The CEO has threatened to cancel my membership due to his laqck of having any staff in the gym. The Lifeguards are 16-17 and could not protect or save anyone, they are a joke. Someone will drown there soon. The Owen County YMCA is located in Spencer, Indiana. No one cleans equip after use, lockers rooms are always a mess. No hot water....on and on. this YMCA has only been open a few years, but it is in complete disarray, and someoneshould call the healh board. athletes shun the Y because of this type of behavior. I guess I need to call the ACLU and make a complaint. Do not get a membership at the Owen County YMCA, you will regret it.
I have 4 children 17,20,21,26 all who enjoy the benefits of the YMCA in Osage Beach,Mo. JoAnn Rutherford oversees that operation and yes, I now understand why she was a Hall Of Fame coach. She pushes people to better themselves, and makes no promises she cannot keep. Our town is proud of our YMCA.
My name is Alicia Dages, My 7 year old little boy went to YMCA over the summer, YMCA promised field trips and T-shirts. The parents had to pay for these things. The children did not go on field trips, or get there T-shirts. The parents wanted some of there money back, they said they had gotten water slides for the kids, that is not what we paid for. The YMCA did not hold for what they stood for, I will never send my son to YMCA ever again, you do not get what you pay for. I'm a single mother and try to do the best I can for my son, I thought this would be a good experience for him, but he ended up hating it, I could not afford anouther registration fee somewhere else, so he had to stay. This YMCA is located 1501 4th Avenue South West Bessemer Alabama 35022. You can reach me at work at 205-425-5182 Please if there is any thing you can do to help me just get some of my money back. There Phone number is 205-426-1211. Thank you very much.
I've talked with the manager, and others at the North Branch in Wichita, Ks about all the bubble gum you must walk through to get into this building, and nothing has been done. It's worst now than ever. I've seen multiple times, people come out of the sweat rooms and get right into the spa, and not once has an employee pointed to the written rule of a shower first. The family locker room spells of urine all the time. This is without a doubt the most poorly managed YMCA facility for cleanliness ever in Wichita. It's quite sad to see this. Nobody in management acts as if they care about it. My family won't be going back to the Y if these issues are not resolved at once. The health depart may get involved, if an infection break out occurs.
We have a brand new YMCA in Fond du Lac, WI I would like to be able to take my grandaughter there to swim. She is only 2. Love the water and it is our time together. However, it is so expensive that I am unable to take her. The YMCA in our city charges $20 family fee. I am not a member. I have looked into the cost of YMCA in surrounding cities. The charges from $15 to $12 for family fee. Why is Fond du Lac so much? Oshkosh, WI 30 miles away only charges $12. I was under the impression the YMCA was built for the community. Few can afford our YMCA it is directed toward the rich of our city. How sad.
