i frequently visit the cheese cake factory for its food and somewhat good service. however this time around the food was poor and the service was even worse. i dont expect much visiting a restaurant...all i would like is good tasting food and friendly service. we ordered a salad, hibachi steak and some pasta dish. i should ad that we had ordered these two dished many other times and know the taste of all three dishes very well. the steak came out being rare when i had ordered it medium well. and also the mashed potato didnt have the wasabi butter on it. and the dish didnt come with the 2 asaparagus. when i recieved the dish i was like ok i will send it back. then our pasta dish came. the pasta was dry but it has a spicy taste to it. i asked my wife if she thought anything was wrong with it and she said it was spicy. i looked closely and saw that the pasta had specks of chilli peppers in it. we had tried this pasta dish 10 or more time and never was it spicy. needless to say we returned the dish back. we returned 2 dishes and we had 2 managers come to us and apologize neither of them knowing that we had returned 2 dishes. seriously, if a line cook cant cook a thin piece of meat then they shouldnt be a cook.
I'm an employee (server) of The Cheesecake Factory for several years. This company does NOT discriminate. There simply could have been no room for you or your belief in your qualifications may seem like extremely relevant experience to you, but may not be in line with what the management wanted. If you worked at a random restaurant 5 years ago, you're not ready to serve at The Cheesecake Factory. Typically, they start you as front desk or bakery to get you used to the restaurant as you work your way up to server (assuming you were applying for a front-house position). Discrimination is not an issue, qualifications or position availability are. As for food quality; maybe your body just can't handle the peppery shrimp and chicken flavor that is the Cajun Jambalaya Pasta? Not sure what happened there because I know that the kitchen (no matter what location) is continuously cleaned and inspected. Could just be that your tummy couldn't handle the pepper/shrimp at that moment. Or maybe that brand of iced tea isn't your friend? Or you were sitting and got cold air blowing at you and then you didn't feel so good? Many possibilities. Sorry you got sick though =[ Tipping: Never thought Hawaii's location would have bad tipping. That's tough especially when us servers have to tip out on our sales. Something I've always requested is an automatic gratuity of 18%. It would make life so much better lol. But tipping is at the guests discretion and I believe it will never be enforced. Definitely keep pushing for a change somewhere though. @ Laura Sanchez: That sucks for your super bad experience, let me try and explain. Seeing other people get sat before you is because they were parties of 2, 3, and 4, not 9. If you're there at a moderate to busy time, it's hard to make enough tables open to fit a bigger party. So that wasn't the fault of the restaurant, that was a previous group of guests not getting up fast enough. I'm not going to make any excuses for the server but I'll try and maybe give an explanation: They were probably getting overwhelmed in their section trying to perform all of the steps of service we're trained to do. This server may have been a newbie and unfortunately got overwhelmed and made multiple mistakes. The server should have asked for help. You should have asked to speak with a manager in order for your experience to be recognized. That sucks it happened to you. If you do go back which I hope you will, ask to sit in a more seasoned servers section. Trust me, your experience will be way different. That server SHOULD NOT have added gratuity after all of those mistakes. Noooo way. I know when I've goofed up (in my newbie stage) I never did. I definitely don't think you should base your opinion on the restaurant because of ONE server's capabilities or lack thereof. Go again, ask for an experienced server and compare. My 2 cents: This company is awesome to work for. They care for their employees and create a whole world of opportunity. There's a lot of hard work in the training process but it really makes you proud of where you work. If you had a bad experience, don't let that deter you away from the restaurant. Bad things happen but it doesn't define the restaurant. If you applied and didn't get a call back, just be persistent or try again at a later time. They get a million applications daily. I'm a college kid who randomly came across this site and felt the need/boredom to respond. Ciao!
If I could rate in the negative, I would!!! The Tucson Mall location deserves a negative 10 all the way around. Wait from the time of check in to the time we paid the bill was almost 4 HOURS!!!! We had to wait, and wait, and wait, and watch everyone that arrived AFTER us, be seated BEFORE us. We were a party of 9 but that's no reason to make us wait so long. The service was bad, we had to ask for drink refills, time and again, food was brought out in stages (some of us were served before others,so they had to wait longer) and COLD, condiments were forgotten and needed to be asked for THREE times!, appetizers were never brought out, food was bad, the best thing was the bread basket and then when we'd had enough we asked for our bill. You guessed it! We waited, and waited and waited! Finally, all but one member of our party stayed behind so he could continue to wait for the bill, we got stopped and were accused of trying to leave the restaurant without paying! We want to pay, just bring the damn bill!!!! To top it off, we get billed 18% gratuity for crappy service????? It'll be a long, long time before I go back there again or recommend it to anyone.
The Cheesecake Factory Oakbrook,Il 'was' one of my favorite places to eat until lastnite! My husband and I visited there for dinner and we walked in to a smiling hostess who told us we will be seated in 30min.So we waited for over an hour! Finally after watching Five couples seated that I know clearly came in after us. Because, we were all in the parking lot together and waited behind me in line.I became a bit upset and asked the hostess why were others being sitted before us?And they came in after us.She said she didnt know what was going on and would give a manager a call. The Manager showed up and said there was Two couple ahead of me to be seated but all of a sudden we were called. So what happen to the two couples that was suppose to go before me?My Husband and I was Simply Overlooked! After being seated and ordered a Appetizer, It to like the service was terrible especially since I pulled a LONG string of Blond hair out of my mouth that was attached to crust of the appetizer.I will never ever visit this location again.I felt like I had been thrown to the back of the bus!
The Cheesecake Factory is one of my favorite restaurants. I have never been disappointed with food or service. What I am wondering now is, do they only hire college kids or those servers who are under thirty years of age? I have never seen "mature" servers in any of the Northern NJ or San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley locations. Well, guess I will find out soon enough. I applied for a server position today at the Palo Alto location. I have extensive experience as a lead server and have been favorably mentioned in "Yelp" reviews of the restaurant I just worked at. The interview went well and the manager said he would like to invite me back for a second interview. He explained he didn't have a schedule set for the second interview, but he was thinking it would most likely occur this coming Thursday. I will patiently wait to be called. Guess I am a little skeptical, as everytime I applied at a large corporate chain, I have been told my resume, experience and references are outstanding --- but no one will just come out and say "You're old enough to be my Mother!!!" Well damn it, Mother's need jobs too~!
I was in at the cheesecake factory in cambridge, MA, around 1:30 pm today 3/21/11, and it was my first time being there because my husband and I were visiting from Maine u've heard good things about that specific cheesecake factory. But as a person who owns a restaurant my self I can tell that the lady who took our order at the bakery was extremely ignorant, I absolutely think that she was annoyed with the fact that my husband and I were asking her about the cheesecakes, she seemed like she didn't wanna help us! And for that matter we ended up leaving, because we felt like we were being treated with total disrespected... And next time my husband and I comes to Boston I guarantee that the cheesecake factory of that location will not be in our check list!!!
In allen, tx the management staff seemed very prejudiced against africen americans... I noticed out of the 30 or more employees i saw employed, only 2 were african american. i wondered if it was per shift or total?
My twenty-something child has had a tough time of it working in the Hawaii location in Honolulu. Nice place to visit, but isn't so sweet working on the island when you live there. Thinking that Cheesecake would be like the mainland, it's not. Headquarters HERE THIS>>>>> tipping is almost non-existent in Hawaii! Many cultures who visit DON'T tip! How is one to pay bills, pay for rent or pay for school? Getting stiffed at least six times a shift, especially on dinner bills totaling in the hundreds is common and Cheescake doesn't help. If there is nothing that Cheesecake can do to help educate its customers that in the states we tip other than have it on the menu in small print, why not raise the hourly wage or give them a dinner per shift. Anything would help the servers which in turn will help the attitude towards the customer who doesn't get it!
I am very disapointed in the cheesecake factory in west hartford ct. The first time I went to eat there I had to wait. 2 hours to sit down on the table and another 2 hours for my food. I didn't like the fact how the waitress was very disrispectful and at the end of ther day they have charged me for a cheesecake but they never gave it to me. I also don't like the menagment in that store becauzse how they treat their employees. My husband work there and the first time he got hired the menager made him sighn a paper saying that he cannot take anybreakes which is against the law. Now that they finaly got cough and got fined for it they are treating my husband like trash. They tell him if he ever calls out they will fire him wich I don't think its right. He has never calles out . He has been late yes the times wen there were snow storms he didn't have to go but he did. I meen if this situation doesn't stop I'm going to have to involve the state and then have the place closed.
The lady at the cheese cake factory was very mean we had a parking pass it was 9:30 we got sit down It was the manger it was a two hour wait we were all not happy Because it was a very long wait and she was being mean to us we had 7 people people it was very poor
I dined with a group of older ladies (nine of us) today at the Cheesecake Factory in Roseville, Ca Galleria shopping center. Our food was good & the service was excellent. However when our bill came we failed to see the 18% gratuity was added onto our bill which was about $250. We added our own 20% gratuity to the total amount of the bill not realizing that it had already been added. Our server brought back our money to the table & told us that we had submitted too much money & that the gratuity was included. My complaint is that for nine of us we should be told that the gratuity was included. It certainly was very stressful for us to collect & then return money. I really think that 7-9 people should be subject to this amount. We certainly have never failed to give a generous tip. Being elderly ladies we did not pay attention. Perhaps you could have your servers remind people in a larger party over 7 that the gratuity is included. This same group of ladies go out to lunch fairly regularly & we have never been charged an automatic gratuity in other restaurants. As I went on line to submit this complaint I noticed a large number of complaints about your restaurant. It has always been such a favorite of everyone but it looks to me that you are letting things slip & need to pay more attention to customer service. When I told the manager about our problem with the tip she acted "ho hum" about it. We certainly wouldn't like to see your restaurant go out of business because of poor customer service. OAK BROOK, LA, BEVERLY HILLS ALL 5 STARS ESPECIALLY OAKBROOK, I HAVE BEEN THERE THE MOST. EXCELLENT FACILITY. i ARRIVED ABOUT 5:30 PM, OLD ORCHARD LOCALE IN ILLINOIS (BY SKOKIE/EVANSTON) -5 STARS... THE FIRST THING, OUR WAITER RUDY, GREAT GUY, TALKED AN OUTSTANDING GAME, BUT THE ACTIONS WERE SUB PAR. I ATTRIBUTE THAT TO HIS TRAINING, OR LACK THEREOF. 2. I GOT FOOD POISONING. I DON'T KNOW IF THE FOOD WAS BAD OR A DIRTY KITCHEN. DID I ANGER THE COOKS AND THEY RUINED MY FOOD. I HAD TEA. BOTH TYPES REGULAR AND THE OTHER, SOME KIND OF FRUIT. DOES ANYONE TASTE WHAT THEY ARE PREPARING ? IT WAS HORRIBLE. BOTH TEAS. 3. I GOT THE WORST STOMACH ACHE RIGHT AFTER I DRANK SOME OF THE TEAS, HAD SOME BREAD AND WAS SERVED PASTA JUMBALYA. I NEVER EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. I ONLY ATE THE SHRIMP AND CHICKEN, NONE OF THE PASTA ETC. IT WAS THE WORST MEAL I EVER HAD. I WORK OUT HARD EVERY DAY, BUT FELT WEAK LIKE A BABY THE ENTIRE DAY AFTER. 4. THE MANAGER OF THE RESTERAUNT WAS NOT GOOD AT HER JOB. IN FACT I WOULD SAY SHE IS A DETRIMENT TO THE GOOD REPUTATION YOU GUYS HAVE WORKED SO HARD TO ACQUIRE. I NEVER SEEN A HUMAN BEING SO ILL SUITED TO A POSITION IN MY LIFE. ATTITUDE, WORK ETHIC, TRAINING, ALL THE NECESSARY QUALITIES OF A GOOD EMPLOYE FLOW FROM THE MANAGEMENT. SHE DEFINITELY DOES NOT HAVE IT. I CAN JUST IMAGINE HOW INEPT RUDY'S TRAINER WAS. I CAN'T BLAME RUDY. I DO TOTALLY BLAME THE MANAGER. SHE IS PAID 60-70K A YEAR(OR MORE) TO MAKE A PROFIT AND PRODUCE A GOOD QUALITY ENVIRONMENT. I WAS DEFINITELY SURPRISED TO GET IN RIGHT AWAY AND THE PLACE WAS EMPTY. GRANTED IT WAS A RAINY MONDAY NIGHT. BUT EVERY TIME I WENT TO OAKBROOK, IT WAS ALWAYS BUSY. SHE(THE MANAGER) NEEDS TO START AT AS A BUS PERSON AGAIN AND WORK HER WAY UP IN A GOOD RESTERAUNT. SHE WILL PROBABLY BE TO FULL OF HERSELF TO EVEN RECOGNIZE HER MISTAKE. SHE IS ALSO A HUGELY NEGATIVE PERSON. NOT A GOOD QUALITY FOR A MANAGER. A MANAGER NEEDS TO POSITIVELY MOTIVITATE HER CO-WORKERS. NOT BEAT THEM INTO SUBMISSION. I WAS AT THE FRONT DESK RELATING MY DILEMMA TO HER AND WHEN I SAID MY PROBLEM, SHE DID NOT ASK HOW I FELT, BUT PROCEEDED TO ARGUE WITH ME. MORE CONCERNED ABOUT OTHER CUSTOMERS POSSIBLY HEARING ME. SHE ASKED MY NAME AND THE ONLY PERSON PAYING ATTENTION TO MY NAME WAS A BIG BLACK GUY. HE REPEATED MY NAME CONCISELY, OBVIOUSLY, NO ONE ELSE WAS LISTENING. I SUSPECT THAT FACILITY IS NOT PROFITABLE. WITH THE RENT YOU PAY, AND JUST THE MAINTENANCE COST WOULD BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE IT TO BE UNDER WATER. IF YOU CARE TO KEEP THAT LOCATION, CHANGE THE MANAGER AND GET NEW GOOD PEOPLE AT ALL THE KEY POSITIONS. OTHER THEN THAT, JUST LET IT GO. OLD ORCHARD'S PRIME SEEMS TO HAVE COME AND GONE. IT IS A PITY. I SUSPECT YOU GUYS WANT A PRESENCE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF CHICAGO. JOHN P. DENNEHY SR INTEGRITY 1ST MORTGAGE 8505 W 183RD STREET SUITE E TINLEY PARK IL 60487 708-687-8007
Khalid. They didn't except your application so what? Go apply somewhere else. Get over it. Its life dude! You're not going to get excepted everywhere you want to get excepted at. I don't work for Cheesecake, but thats my advice to you.
During the month of August I applied for a position at the Menlo Park Mall location in hopes of securing employment. On September 7, 2010 I entered the same location to see the status of my application. I asked the receptionist if they were hiring & told her that I had filled out an application. She asked for my name in writing, & said I should take a seat until the manager could be made aware of my presence. About 40 minutes later I was still waiting without so much as a we will be right with you. I had no idea as to who management was because during the duration of this time I was ignored. During which time I noticed not one minority was employed in this establishment. Eventually another gentleman of caucasian decent also approached the receptionist & I overheard her tell him the manager will be with you shortly. Maybe 10 minutes later a man came over to get the young man & that was the first instance in which I was overlooked. None of the staff acknowledged me or asked if I was being helped. So now the young man who was waiting was now being interviewed although I was waiting longer than him. Finally the man who I assume was "the" manager came over. I say assume because he never introduced himself. He simply asked if I submitted an application...as I am thinking,"What happened to the one I submitted?" He then said if you did not get a call back they were not interested. I then am thinking, "It took you almost an hour to tell me that?" he said they were looking for someone who was fully flexible with experience I told him that I was experienced, as well as fully flexible. He then stated that they wanted someone with recent experience. I then spoke of my employers where food service was part of my job description...& was told fast food was not what they had in mind. I also said That I was a fast learner, & eager to learn. Also that I was soon to enter into school to become a chef. At this time I was asked if I wanted to fill out another application. I am a well dressed, articulate, charismatic African American with an impeccable resume with many years of customer service under my belt. Could someone please tell me what it is they are looking for that I lack, because it clearly smells like discrimination to me. I look forward to your attention regarding this matter. Sincerely, Mr. Khalid Mallory Kmallory28@yahoo.com
