I was at a Ross Store in Cedar Hill TX today,it was around 7pm, it wasn't busy at all, nobody was behind me when i was standing in line. the customer service person named Brooke was attending to a customer in front of me. The lady is still making a payment, and there she was asking me if i am paying cash or debit card. I answered, i don't know yet. then gestured me to put my stuffs in the counter, while the customers bags of merchandise are still there. I was kinda hesitant to do it because i don't want to be rude to the other customer who is still making a payment. when it was my turn, she ask me again if i am paying cash or debit card while she is acting like she is on a marathon of sort. I answered. does it matter? She answered, to keep the line quick so you will have it ready. I understand the part that you are trying to get the people out of there quick but her customer service sucks. she did not even greeted me, her acknowledgement of me is by asking me if i am paying with cash or debit card.

I am disabled. I went to a Ross at Willowbrook in Houston, Texas today. I am so sorry you can only find morons to work at your store. I went to try on some clothing and needed some assistance due to my disability. The clerk told me she could not assist me but I was welcome to take my items to the dressing room. I just left. Ross doesn't want to sell their items. Someone needs to train the morons in common courtesy and customer assistance. Geez, are your employees really so stupid they do not know all they have to do is say, "could I help you out?"
I have not shopped in Ross for a few years, because the quality of the clothes have gone way down. The last few months that has changed & the quality has send me back to Ross. The new problem is the cashiers chat EXTREEMLY loud in spanish to each other, while waiting on the customers. I asked if this is alright with Ross & they said, sure they haven't trained us any different. I feel this is wrong, & if they want to speak any other language, it should be done on their break or off time. My parent's both spoke French & ALWAYS spoke english on the job. I will give you a five when this problem is fixed.
I personally love ross and shop there like about 4 times a week. Now I undstand that this is not saks but I am spending my money here and if I could spend my money at saks I would so I would still like to get the same treatment no matter where I am shopping at I live in 90035 and the Ross on la cienega and 18th street is like 10 blocks away from me so when I take my baby for a walk in the afternoon I usually walk to that shopping mall. There is a manger there by the name of Cristina who sees me all the shop at this store and if I ever have a return she always always gives me a hard time..I made a purchase there for some clothing and came home and did not like the way the item looked on so I went back to return it and she would not take it back saying that the ticket was not the ticket. Meanwhile she is not even on the clock and she is leaving and would not call the manger on duty to help me takes my reciept and goes to the back with her husband and son to check on things come back with her purse on her shoulder on her way out the door. I understand that this is Ross but what kind of manager and people are they hiring to run there store I will never walk to Ross again...
Every Ross I have been to has HORRIBLE bathrooms!!!!!! They smell so badly and are never clean! I nearly barf everytime I go near one. They're return policy is GARBAGE!!!!! You can only get your money within 30 days of the purchase date. You get store credit after that. It just seems like such a dirty store! I will never shop there again! They have horrible customer service! The one in Livermore sucks! The security there make me feel uncomfortable because they just watch you like a hawk for no reason.
I started at the Ross store in Glenwood Springs Colorado. Like everyone else says it is truly the job from hell. The stock room reminds me of a factory in a third world country. They hired 55 people to open the store and then just quit putting them on the schedule. We were down to about 25 employees when I quit last week and found out half of the employees left were also quitting. I could go on and on with complaints but the worst one is they won't send me my last check when they know I moved 1000 miles away. I asked to have them mailed an was told I had to go in and get them. I would love to complain to corporate but of course can't find a number. I will find a way.
Tonight at the Ross store in Decatur, Georgia, there was a long wait at the checkout. Although the store was practically empty, the line at checkout took over 15 minutes to pay out because there was only one clerk working a cash register. I saw other employees standing around talking and doing nothing, including the manager, while the poor clerk had to deal with the ire of customers who had a lengthy wait. This has happened to me before at the same Ross store and I vowed not to return. This time, I mean it.
I was in the Ross store in Fremont ca on mowery ave. the manager by the name of Gary and the security guard named lauy. Made racial and sexual comments towards me. They are unbelievable every Ross store in the nation is filled with the worlds rudest racist employees in this country. Someone needs to sue Ross for the frustration and stress and anxiety that they cause to there customers. Who is the owner of ross, he must be someone who is seriously disturbed and has no respect for anyone but himself. Ross is the only place I know that no matter which location you walk into you get the same awful customer service and the same rude and disgusting behavior from the employees. Someone needs to put a stop to this.
i don't know about some of these complaints. i know some customers just don't get it...that they are the ones who were rude or over demanding ....yes the customer is always right (only for only wanting their money) but not because they are right...so that means that people get to come in and color and or ruin our day and other customers days. the one who had a funeral the next day well ya i would have let you in and taken the rap so no problem for you but to not understand that all are overworked and underpaid and yes we as humans get an attitude when tired.......but in reality you should have been able to try it on for ross does not close until the doors are locked so only for their convience were they closing the fitting rooms....we do it too for we are tired with much still to do and little time to do it in. sometimes we are in bad moods for having been put in one by a previous customer and not being able to shake it.....we are just human and this is a meanial job and if you are so perfect then have the graciousness to overlook it or help us out as a fellow human being....after all this is not neiman's and this is minimum wage with my kid at babysitters being paid while i work..... for this does give me more money than not working at all. we have wonderful customers in our store and they help us....these are women with money who don't work and have class and they pick up after themselves and others...stunning....so when you come in with a complaint or just are having a bad day and want to make another being on the planet suffer (you are compared to these wonderful caring women who appreciate us...not figuring we are there to service them like others who come in and demand us to do things we have no time for like looking for their size or color when it could be anywhere in the store (get a grip ladies and use your radar and go find it ross doesn't have enough of us there to do much extra)i personally have numbers of cus. and when i do find something they are looking for i give them a call on my time))) ...anyway.no we don't want to take it....this isn't neiman's....i have had this done to me and i usually am able to smile and try to change their day for them for i know it is just bad moods but some just don't want to and just want their way with the world so go to neimans and pay for the right....oh that's right you are poor too....sigh such is life.....anyway i love my job,,,,have wonderfull customers and fellow employees and boss's.....no all of our customers are not happy and it is their fault and their choice and disire.....one the other day not going into details but thought they could get the rules from corporate on returns bent for her benefit (like wow lady who do you think you are ahh the customer) so after all is said and done I was the one who is wrong (all i did was follow rule from corporate and called a manager for her to talk to) sigh.....people are way bored when all they can do is go to retail to complain or expect some desire to be met. be it good or bad.....get an escort and pay for it geezzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The one of the Ross store in 799 market street San Francisco CA. Three managers name is Liwayway, leslie and Hedda. They ask co-workers for money and gift(they work in the evenings shift. They do not have a good English and they do not know how to report to big boss about this problems. They just give to them gift and money to keep their jobs). For example, We saw Paik Eng give to them money and gifts. She is part-time employee. They give her over ride. She got many work hours about 26-36hr/week.Please check last week and this week. Three managers are very powerful in this store. They control every things. They give all the opportunity and more hours to philippines co-workers. All philippines co-workers listen to them to do bad things to against other co-workers who do not give to three managers money and gifts. Three managers let philippines co-workers dissemination rumors to hurt other employee who do not continuously give to them gifts and money. They do not like the employees to report to the Ross company all the problems. We are afraid of them to report. After we report here. Recently they made a co-worker quit her job. other one afraid of come to work. one of our co-worker sick few days and suddenly dead, etc. We are afraid of work in the night shift. Because they made some people follow the tracks(tail after us) of us when we off the work went the way home around 11:00p.m.They know where we live. We report to police got a police report already. They play the games on the work schedule. They do as them pleases cut employees work hours without any reasons and do not give employee the opportunity to take the test to get the certifications if the employees do not continuously give to them money and gift. They continuously made employees afraid of lose their job and afraid of cut hours. We are loyalty employees. We like Ross and want to work here normal. Please give to our a normal workplace. We have been suffered some adverse retaliatory and hostility by Liwayway, leslie and Hedda. They do not follow the Ross rules. They always harassing us.They made co-workers against each other and pervasive to create a hostile workplace environment. We hope the new managers work here and come to this Ross store(0125) to stop them and solve all the problems.
Today I went to the store locate in Decatur, Alabama store 1182, I got a pants which was on sale for $5.99, when I got to the cashier to pay for, she informed that the price was wrong and that she could not give me that price, which i consider false adevertising, she informed me that someone had to put that sticker on it with. I went back to that department and got 2 mores pairs of pants which had the same price, the I tolde her to look of all them because they had the same price. her answer was I can not honor that price, an employee had make a mistake, and that was no her fault, she is general manager of the store. I could no belive that. I worked for a deparment store and we had to give the price that was on the sign. She was very rude, seh was very unfrendly and she even did not apology for something that was not our fault, she did not let us to buy the pants. THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING
actuall if there was a negative number I would have put that because I think that a 1 is still far to good for them. they charged me more for a sale item because it was comming apart and i wanted to do an exchange for one that was not comming apart. it is wrong to change more for an exchante sale item just because it was damaged and the item is no longer on sale. everyone know that skew numbers aren't going to match on a sale itme and a regular item that is was distinguishes them from sale and regular price.
I work at Ross in Grand Junction, CO. and it has become bazaar and macabre. I think they are going to kill all the older women who are the only ones left working hard and showing up. The reward for that is nothing but pressure to leave by horrid impersonal scheduling, forced by under staffing to work three jobs at once and then cleaning the whole store at close. The longer you have been there the more they try to get rid of you, costing them more an hour from a worker's tiny yearly raises and they can get paid by the State to replace you with ex-cons, special ed and special needs associates who frankly cause everyone extra work. I work the Fitting room and on a busy Sunday with our extended hours open until 9:30, short staffed with no one working the floor, I am constantly processing boxes of underwear for the backed up stockroom, straightening the toy area, pet area, bra & panty area, glassware, even as far as juniors tops with non-stop people fuxing in and out of the fitting rooms, never missing hanging the 1 - 8 items on the bar to 'count' them. l then was left to pick the whole place up with just an assistant manager and two prima donna head cashiers who specialize in non-essential busy work while the floor worker[s] break our balls in double time trying to make the place perfect after cleaning & working hard all day long. I hurt so much, all the time, I can no longer sleep and am in a constant state of exhaustion. I wake up all night long with leg pains and knots forming in my calves. They took our cushioning floor mat away last year, because it looked messy, so there seems no getting used to the constant hardness of the floor. Almost everyone is part-time and that means at times locking us into no more than 12 hours a week scheduled, to then be available 12 hours a day/night, 7 days a week for call-ins. You never know your next weeks schedule until usually Thursday, so there is never a chance to ever make appointments or ever go away or frankly to do anything. Days off are purely recovery days, you just lie in shock. The specialty treatment for some is astounding, building our schedules as disoriented leftovers after friends are catered to. The amount of accidents is also astounding and come from unsafe conditions and being over worked. We have 4 out of 5 managers severely hurt, long term. Ross is a prime example of corporate greed and unashamed to follow the Walmart example of how to abuse their work force, giving no benefits or bonus, no usable healthcare, no regular days or schedules, open abuse by customers treating their workers like criminals while we see people steal all day while they do nothing; a lawless land catering to cashing out all the funds accumulated by illegal immigrants who destroy the store daily with total disregard. Not to mention the abandoned masses of undomesticated children swarming the store daily and nightly. I fear for America's future.
The store is south philadelphia is the worst staff is really rude. I went in there a few days ago and staff member name sheronda was really rude to me she couldn't me at all. I was looking for a gift for a family member and I was telling her about it and she told me she was busy and to ask someone else. I asked for a manger and she said good luck with that. I will never shop their again staff is so rude I'm in the process of trying to contact corp
It took me sometime to deiced if I would report to my local store or if I even had the place to say something. I attempted to speak to a manger of the store (#14) but got a rude lady who showed no concern o my issue. Point is I over herd one of the managers, in Spanish say "dejar que el sudor de mono" (let the monkey sweat) to the security guard in reference to the new African American supervisor. My jaw dropped and my daughter herd it too. For about six minuets while I waited by the carts with my daughter for my neighbor to get her things purchased, I witnessed them laugh and degrade him in Spanish. The young man, Nathaniel is his name was swamped with the regular mile line long at Ross, he even turned around and asked the manger for help , called for service via the loud speaker, while the two jerks snickered and spoke down on him in our native language. I say "OUR" because I am a latina and proud; but my 13 year old daughter herd this a witnessed racism in a sad and unfortunate way. I'm 100% sure Nathaniel was oblivious to the banter happening behind him because he was focused on the customer in front of him, rushing to "over ride" something for another cashier and I know he primarily speaks the English language. I've held conversation with this young man to the point we discussed San Diego, where he just relocated from and he was very well versed believe me. I literally thought I was on "What would you do" with John Quinones...lol all jokes aside, I would have failed because I did nothing when I should have. I should have spoken up because no one deserves that blatant disrespect and they were getting joy out of making his job harder. To attack his character with racial slurs while on the sales floor with no regards to who is around is appalling. I am at that store atleast twice a week, every Tuesday with my client for senior Tuesdays and always through out the week with my daughter. I have witnessed Nathaniel wither from a happy, eager cashier... to the regular run of the mill ill tempered Ross employee with -in weeks of his new employment at Ross. My daughter bought the incident back up today and it showed me she was affected by this. So were writing this together. if you ever go to Ross on Pacific Coast highway store 14 in Los Angeles, go see Nathaniel, hes such a joy to talk to and gentlemen. Let him know you read this and there are good people in LA.
If the purpose, goal and intent of a retail store is not to sell merchandise, then what is it? The local manager of the Ross store in Destin, Florida is obviously not interested in selling clothing. They recently gave up over $600. of sales to Steinmart while I tried for 3 days to purchase a whole new spring wardrobe. The lost sale at Ross would have been much greater than the $600. if Steinmart had had the inventory that Ross did. I had been on several shopping outings at Ross with friends in the past and had found stylish bargains. So, when I was ready for a serious wardrobe replacement shopping adventure, I went alone to Ross. The first day I found a whole shopping cart stacked FULL of promising items I wanted to try on. After hours of sorting through the racks, I headed to the dressing rooms. There I picked out my first 8 items to take to a dressing room. Not wanting to risk loss of access to my cart full of carefully chosen and promising items which also represented lots of time and effort, I tried to leave my cart in a quiet, out of the way back aisle. I was curtly ordered to place my cart instead in the middle of the busy aisle in front of the dressing room entry. When I came out of the dressing room, I had my items carefully sorted into "sure things to buy", a "maybe", and two "no's". As I attempted to turn in the "no's", I was loudly, rudely, repeatedly ordered to hand over all items by placing them on the rack. I have shopped every kind of store from Nordstrom, Saks and high-end boutiques to dollar stores, thrift shops, Goodwill and 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand Clothing and most everything between, I have never been treated so rudely. Every dressing-room attendant everywhere else always asks if any of the items worked. Translate, "Do you want to purchase any of these?" Not so at Ross that day. He demanded that I hang them all up together for him. Then I turned to discover that my morning's work of sorting through clothes had been wasted because my cart had been emptied. I was not to be allowed to try on the rest of my "likes'. I was tired and hungry by then and certainly in no mood to start over going through all the racks. So I left the store with no purchases. But on the way out, I reported my experience to the store manager who could not have cared less about this customer, about lost sales or Ross' public relations. He obviously preferred not to be bothered; and merely muttered, "That is our PROCEDURE." Really? NEVER encountered that before, at Ross or anywhere. I was uncharacteristically motivated about this serious wardrobe update, so the next morning I talked myself into returning refreshed to shop again when there would surely be a different dressing-room attendant. I spent hours sorting through the racks trying to remember and find the things I had liked the day before. I never found them all, but did pull out a cart full of probable items. I went to the dressing rooms and indicated that I wanted my cart set aside to wait for me while I tried on items. The girl put a little sign on my cart to indicate it was in use. When I returned, she properly, according to custom, asked which of the 8 items I wanted to keep. But, when I turned to recover more items from my cart, it was again emptied. No wonder all Ross clerks are busy hanging items on racks all day. This store is only interested in keeping things on racks and NOT selling them. I was again tired and completely frustrated. You will not encounter another customer as determined, stubborn and committed as I was that week to accomplish my mission for a new wardrobe while I had the time during vacation. The third day, after spending over $600 at Steinmart, I returned to try to re-find some of the items I had been unable to substitute at Steinmart. It was a major test of my persistence and assertiveness to return to Ross at all, plus to have to insist that my chosen items be set aside and "held" for me while I tried on a few at a time. I constantly had to hurry trying on and to check that my that items were still being held, confirm if a new attendant on duty was informed to hold these items, etc. I WILL NOT endure this torturous experience again. I felt as if I had been through a war. Indeed it was a battle. But I was not the only loser. Ross is the loser as well. It is easy to imagine and appreciate the discouragement and/or dismay that Ross clerks may feel when they see a whole cart of clothing which they imagine will have to be placed back on proper racks. However, if they remembered that the purpose of displaying the merchandise is for it to sell and that the only way those clothes will sell is if someone first tries them on, they could then save themselves a lot of work by waiting for the customer to decide which items will be purchased before putting away the leftovers. As it was, there were many items that clerks grabbed and redisplayed 2 unnecessary times without giving me, the customer, the opportunity to purchase them. Many I never found again. I was anxiously anticipating the arrival of a Ross store in my hometown before this horrendous experience. No longer. I will continue to do the majority of my bargain hunting at TJMax, Marshall's and Gordman's at home and Steinmart wherever I find them. Maybe they will soon come to my area. But from reading these reviews as well as my completely unacceptable treatment at Ross, I will not be shopping there in the future.
I am shocked to read about hoe dirty the store and restrooms are. When the Fremont Ca. store first opened many years ago (not sure of the year) the store had janitorial service. Five women came In at 7am every day. vacuumed, moped, cleaned the dressing rooms and rest rooms. Also cleaned the glass doors every morning. No longer live in Fremont , so don't know how clean the store is..
I just came back from Ross at Hilltop (Klose Way) very upset. I bought 3 pairs of jeans from cashier Anita who just stuck everything in one small bag without folding them. And when I told Anita to ple fold them, she replied she's not being paid to fold the merchandise. And the manager just watched and did nothing!!!!
