i went into a payless today in daytona beach fl at the bellair plaza and was falsely accused of shoplifting. i was looking at some shoe grips at the front register. my broyfriend had taken some bags to my car from another store and when he walked in the store he handed me my keys and i stuck them in my purse. i happened to be holding one of the shoe grips in my right hand and put the keys in my purse with my left hand. the sales associate came up to me and told me to remove the shoe grip from my purse, i said "you mean my keys?" she said "no, the shoe grip" so i opened my purse and she took it upon her self to take my things out of my purse and low and be hold NO shoe grip. i told her i can continue taking everything out of my purse since i didnt steal anything. she said "no, its ok ill just look at the tapes" and she continued to treat me like a criminal instead of apologizing for what she knew was wrong. so i told her to look at the tapes and then she decided to let me know she cant because her manager wasnt there. she was so rude and didnt apologize until i told her she should for falsely accusing me. i made sure to get her managers information and WILL contact her. the sales associate then told me i need to leave and continued to treat me like i was in the wrong. i have NEVER felt so embarrassed and mistreated in my life! that sales associate did not take the steps put in place in order to avoid falsely accusing customers. she did not approach me to ask if i needed anything, just walked up and started accusing. there was no sincerity when she knew she was wrong. unbelievable. completely ruined my day since i am not a thief. something should be done about employees like this because it will ruin business.
Actually, hard to rate the store when I couldn't shop because it closed 10 minutes early. Not the 1st time in Miramichi, NB. Please teach your employees how to tell ham.
I would like to thank the lady in the corporate office who helped me when I couldn't get through to my local stores. She even tried calling all the stores for me to find out why they where not answering the phones. When she didn't get through, she sent them a message and answerd my question. She really didn't have to, because she was in Kansas and I am in Georgia. She could have said I am not sure. You have to ask the local store. She took good care of me and becasue of this I will remain a local customer hear. Sorry I can't remember your name, but thank you very much for all your help.
I worked for Payless back in the late 80's while in High School. I worked in Clay, NY. This store was a trading store. I loved working there, my manager Jim K, was an excellent manager. I am sorry to all of the people who have had bad experiences, but all I can say is Customer Service in general has been an issue with all retail jobs. Its just not enforced like it used to be. I am not saying all stores are that way, just in general. But I used to love working there and I still shop at Payless. In fact alot of times I catch myself straightening shoes in the isles.overall Payless is still a good store.
Payless shoes absolutely suck .... They fall apart after getting worn a couple times, I will never buy another pair for my children again , shoulda stayed with stride rite & sketchers
The store in northfield square mall in Bradley, IL has to have the poorest service of any store i have ever been to. I have only seen a manager in there about twice. When I ask if they are on break or where they are, I am usually told no he (Nick) is not on break, but he is not in the store either. The other girl in there named daisy smelled strongly of marijuana as well as having red watery eyes. The only helpful employee I have found there is a young short girl with glasses and lighter brown to blonde hair(Natalie maybe?I can't remember). The other regular employees haven't proved to be of much more help, other then the young girl I previously mentioned. This is ridiculous and needs to be sorted out, as they are about to lose a lot of business. I for one will no longer be spending my money here, and neither will my friends or family.
this is teena daily again... i have called the company tons of times and have yet to hear anything back. i was wrongfully fired and want something done about it. well i guess its lawyer time. nobody should EVER work for this company from Brooklawn store new jersey
I can't believe that payless allows there DM'S To treat managers the way that they do. DM'S In the Vancouver Washington area are the worst. They talk down to employees, threaten them and all out treat them terrible. Corp. really needs to look into the way they are allowed to treat people. DM's need to take a class on how to treat people.
Store 5684 needs a professional, smart, and dedicated manager. That stores brings in tons of money for the company overall and corporate is blind sided by that fact. It is important for employees to be happy to work happy. The manager leaves the store and leaves employees alone on a daily, she talks down to employees without a crack of a smile on her face, she makes you feel like you are nothing compared to her. The worst thing is... she does nothing in the store. She makes all of her employees work, while she sits behind the scenes doing nothing. Oh wait... she might put a few boxes out but that is it. Management classes are needed deeply and corporate needs to understand that revenue is good, but the self respect of employees (who are people) is better. Do not shop at the payless store at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills ~ That store brings the entire mall down!
I am a 70 year old male who was walked through four or five pairs of boots and shoes in the last two years. I wear the footwear for chores around the house; I do not abuse the footwear, and I do not do athletics in the footwear. I first bought a pair of waterproof boots; within a short time the material of the uppers cracked and made the boots not waterproof. I replaced them with another pair of boots; these also began leaking and soon were unwearable. I've gone through two pair of walking shoes recently. The inside of the heel on the first pair collapsed. I experienced discomfort for some time before discovering the hole where the heel of my foot was located. My wife had a similar experience with her pair of shoes. We both remedied the situation by putting padding into the hole. I also found the sole of my pair of shoes was cracked and a metal strip was showing through on the outside of the shoe. I'm now wearing shoes that have some of the trim material coming loose because the stitching has torn or the thin fabric is torn. The upper part of the shoe is also cracking in another place. While I think the company has a good return policy, by my experience it seems that the policy is needed. I'm not asking for a replacement or refund for my latest defective shoes. I do want the company to be aware of the problem with their product. Since I was unable to find a corporate feedback site I selected this more public means of expression.
I worked at store # 1202 in Brooksville Fl. I enjoyed the job itself and loved my co workers. I even like my boss and tried to help her as I felt she was overwhelmed at times. but I could not ignore her lack of ethics and common sense. I expressed my discomfort with her management skills. I explained to her that I felt her method of explaining things was difficult for myself and other co workers to understand, and that I felt she was easily frustrated when we asked for a second explanation. I also informed her that I no longer wished to perform terminations and new hires on the computer as she had been asking me to since I started working there. This was not in my job description and I explained I was uncomfortable having access to the personal information of other employee i.e. Social security numbers, Drivers li numbers, address, phone numbers etc. She was visibly annoyed by this request. That same day we discussed a few applicants who she admittedly did not even consider due to gender or having children. She said "I do NOT hire men. They are horrible sales people" and went on to say about a woman who came in inquiring about her application.. "I Don't hire women with babies. Mothers of small children are always unreliable" This bothered me and I expressed to her that I felt that was discriminatory. She agreed. Then said "Hey, this is a business. I have to do what ever will help my numbers" I made it very clear that I had a problem with, not only what she was saying, but also with some of her actions within my short time employed. She went home for the night, returned at closing time, watched me close the register and clean the store. Then said "I have to let you go. This job is just not for you. You'd do better as a receptionist or something like that" I worked there for about two months. Many other past employees will agree that she is not the best manager. She is inappropriate, rude, pushy and unprofessional. She has lost many employees due to this.
Your district manager elsa is an uneducated individul. She needs to go back to being a sales person if anything. Her speech is unforgivable. She gives you the impression of being delayed in her speech and uneducated. Is this what payless is about...I will not shop at any of your stores period due to this individual.

So my boss told me to put a complaint in and i did. when the big boss came he he told me to write a statement about what happpened and i did. the next day i came in to work early and tried to give it tto my boss to give to his and he said well what does it say and i told him it was for the boss to read and he got a litte angry. My daughter went in to payless to buy my granddaughter some shoes. Some of her friends were in there. They didn't have my granddaughter's shoe sixe so the cashier called another store and they had it. She and her kids walked out. When my daughter was walking to her car, her friends that were in there walked out also. The cashier accused my daughter of stealing and called security who called the police. My daughter freely let the police search her purse and her car and the baby's diaper bag and they found nothing. My daughter asked for an apology and the cashier said she was the one who deserves an apology since my daughter got smart with her. The police officer said that my daughter did let them search her items freely and found nothing, an apology from the cashier was never given.
I have been working at Payless for the past 11 months and am also a full-time college student with 18 credits/semester. My manager, Ryan O. would know my schedule and still schedule me 25 hour weeks. I would give the manager my notice about finals week. He scheduled me EVERY DAY and my grades have dropped tremendously because of him. I talked to a district manager about it, but Lee was too concerned about the company. Payless is such a contradiction of a company. Taking advantage of their employees and using the naiveness of their customers for profit. I cannot wait to quit.
I am very upset that I cant get what I want to buy in bogo sale this is the new thing that is not fair for us customers. I bought a pair of shoes and am very mad because I return them and was charge one price and was charged another pricel.
I have been a loyal Payless customer for at least 10 or 15 years. My favorite items were the Shaq sneakers. To my dismay on my last visit there were none so I bought two Shaw look alike knockoffs two months ago. Both are of such poor quality that both pairs have holes in the soles and my feet / stock's get soaked when it rains after only two months.I can send you pictures if you wish. I have never been so disappointed not to mention how they made my feet hurt. I also noticed that almost everything is man made no longer leather. Why the lousy quality and do you really think customers will come back or give you repeat business? I used to swear by payless and tell people how great they were. I now feel I was beat out of $60 which I could have bought name brand sneakers but even though I saw they weren't Shaq sneakers I trusted Payless. Big mistake, after all these years I can't imagine buying anything else from Payless and it is like a sad divorce. Why the poor quality lately? To save a dollar? You are going to lose more than you gain, if you lost a loyal customer like me who used to proudly brag and boast that I get my shoes from Payless. I just don't get it, what were your buyers thinking? I am looking for a foot doctor now, that is how shoddy the last sneakers are made. I already gave up on trying to find decent leather work boots or shoes. Shame on you. I am going to miss the payless of yesteryear but I can't imagine ever again buying shoes that last only a month and hurt after a day or two.
I didn't mean to write so much, a picture is worth a thousand words, I want to send you a picture of the soles on the Shaq knockoffs after one really one month of wear. Two pairs and within 2 months holes in the soles that NEVER happened with the Shaq sneakers. That has never happened with any shoes I have ever bought in my life. After a few days I couldn't even walk in them they hurt so much as the cheap material and soles just started falling apart. I do hope someone gets back to me and I would leave my email address and phone number to elaborate on my horror story. From an ex loyal customer M1k1m2@aim.com
The manager at one of your Fresno, Ca. Stores also adds hours to her timesheets. Its the Blacksone/Barstow store. I spoke with one of the workers there and He told me What is going on there. I think you should look into this problem with all your managers and talk to the associates to make this right. This is injustice to the hard working associates making minimum wage and greedy managers stealing hours and money!
I have been a loyal Payless Customer for years! My whole family shops there and I still do. I am also a current employee. At this location, from the day I started my experience has been horrible! The Manager here is rude, careless, unprofessional and an all around bad person. She leaves the store during working hours to run her personal errands or whatever else she wants to do. She picks and chooses her favorites to give more hours to. She barely puts me on the schedule and when she does, she only gives me about 3 hours, and one week scheduled me for ONE DAY for 3 hours.I recently got a check for $22! That is my transportation to work right there, I can't pay any bills with that. I am way more qualified than what she is giving me and the hours and amount of days she gives me is a total insult to me. She has a nasty attitude and very sarcastic way about her and has already gotten into a disagreement with a parent of an employee because of her disrespectful ways. Unless Payless wants to have more of a very bad rep and always have to look for employees, I suggest you get rid of her.
