I eat at your fontana store today may 16, 2011. I ordered mac and cheese and corn bread. the corn bread was a real laugh. the service worst. I reason I am writing is I became very ill about halfway through my meal. I've been vomitting and more since I left panera's. I eat at panera's in moorpark often and it has always been a good experience. you really need to send someone to fontana.

I should have known I was in for trouble when the manager asked the woman two spots in line in front of me if she stayed up late last night(not in fun). Maybe he was feeling, and this is a stretch, WITTY this morning. What a complete idiot. When I got to the ordering spot, I said " Gee the bear claws are kinda burned this morning (they were dark, dark brown) So he responded with, " IF YOU DON'T LIKE US GET OUT!!!!!!!!!". So I went to DD. I will not go back to give this idiot one red cent. He can be insulting to the customers all he wants but I grew up in a different era. The era where the manager was polite. I went out to my wife and she said "where is your sandwich?" I said to her, " the manager asked me to leave." I think this is not the way to run a business. I don't act rude to my customers but I guess it's different at Panera. I will go to Panera just not HIS Panera. I am never rude and go to your store at least a few times a week but I guess HIS Panera is doing so good you can insult the customers and act like a jerk and feel no repercussions but you can take this to the bank I have already started telling everyone I come in contact with what happened. At least it's good for a few laughs. Again not a way to run a business maybe he was drunk or something I don't know. My Panera card # is 1030 8607 9177, so you can see how often I go and mostly get the same order every day. My brother said if this happened at mcdonalds the manager has to write an apology letter. How about taking a lesson from a competitor in the food services industry? Maybe if the poor excuse for a manager had to do that, he might think twice before being insulting to customers. Maybe he just hates his job I don't know. I would like a response just to indicate you received and read this email. Thank you (from a former Quincy Panera customer)
Panera bread Cafe 4134 Tustin,CA 92782 I'm reporting this store because the three times I have gone to Panera bread to eat. I've seen some employees from the line smoking mariguna inside the store and I have asma. I already told a manager but he didn't listen to me. You guys should go and check the store without telling them you guys are going. Because if I go next time and their still smoking mariguna I'm going to call the police.

This is a company that will let you go because your too "by the book and would make a great food inspector". They will serve yogurt that has reached room temperature who knows when, serve pre-sliced deli meat that is too old, scrimp on items they place on your order to cost save on food, and send people home during an enormously busy shift to save on labor. They boast when they hire that they want to be the best place to work for and give the best food and dining experience to the customer, when really, all they care about are "'making numbers" and having the upper management bonus each quarter (a recent quote from a Panera Human Resource). Next time you eat at a Panera, take the time to REALLY check out the cleanlines, staff, and most important, the quality of the food you are PAYING for!!!
store number #1081 (avon, indiana) is the worst store to go to. When it was being run by David Barks, the store was always filled with happy customers, friendly happy employees, and an excellent service. Since the manager change ups, Derek Gee has ran that store into the ground. He's rude when you try to politely explain a problem with food, etc. and I have heard many people in there say they will not return and instead go to the Plainfield, Indiana Panera where he was relocated. Also, Tamara Smith at the 1081 store is a rude and inconsiderate employee in the workplace. She is very loud with you and is not afraid to tell the customer they are wrong. Eventually in the end, she throws her hands up at you and walks off on you. Worst service by an employee I've ever had.
Panera Bread is the place that my brother inlaw worked for many, many years as a production supervisor manager out in Mpls,Minnesota. I use to think Panera was a elegant coffee shop with a healthy choice of eating for everyone. Till my brother inlaw was wrongfully fired in a company cover up that involved failed bakery equipment; that has not been inspected for seven years! Yes, seven years! Metal shavings from a big mixing machine were being released into the bagel line right to the consumers. O'my! That means from production to the consumers mouth! It took two days before anyone knew what was happening! The days in questions March 18,2011 ~ March 20 2011; my bother inlaw was off on those days! My question is; How many bagels did consumer injest before Panera became aware? How many bagels got into the store front for consumers purchase that were comtaninated? Why did corporate not service these machines on a yearly basis? Where they trying to save money or something. Why didn't the media get involved in this unbelievable big, big, big mistake! I will never enter or eat anything that is Panera make again and nor should you......
I dislike the my panera card due to the fact that I disagree with the socialist policy of tracking people's orders. I have expressed this to the staff at several locations. I have asked them not to swipe a card and yet they do anyway. I do not eat the product I simply purchase it for other people's consumption. I was followed out the door by a manager, all the way to my car because he wanted to tell me off for disliking the card policy. This is extremely immature and unprofessional.
I went on line this A M to "register" my Panera Card !! ! I hesitate to givee ALL that info, not knowing if your site is "secure" Please advise!!! jth
It is difficult to believe that a company that has such great products is unable to take orders for gifts and deliver them any where in the area that you have stores. Your products are delicious and beautiful to look at-especially the breads and pastries! I spent a great deal of time on line and then visited a new Panera in Los Gatos, Ca (I live in Los Gatos, CA) in Silicon Valley and also called several of Panera stores in and around Bridgewater, MA to try to purchase a gift box of your breads and cookies and pastries for a gift for my family. I was willing to pay a delivery charge for this service . 4 hours later it was not doable - not one of your stores and managers in Massachusetts nor California were able to work this out! Different answers from different sources and clers and managers-not allowed by corporate, product would be compromised - must be a $50.00 order - must be catering menu only?????- only corporate owned can do it - franchises don't do it??? To much time and effort to even considering trying this again with Panera! Try going to San Francisco Sour dough website and look at the beautiful displays of breads and products and see the ease of ordering and sending anywhere in the USA! I think you need help from Silicon Valley high tech to figure this out. You are missing out on a huge source of sales on line - not just for catering but for gifts for all occasions. I really wanted your breads but I will go to my old standby and send San Francisco Sour Dough! Sorry! lgca37@aol.com
the gm at the pompano beach fl location is very rude and unprofessional! i used to love going there all the time..but will no longer!
I agree with the another anonymous employee on this board, it is not a pleasant company to work for. I worked for Panera for a short time and was let go because I didn't look like 'the girl next store' (the director's words, not mine). I tried everything I could to change what they asked of me, but it was not good enough. I enjoyed the job, was a hard worker, was helpful with customers, and got along with the other staff members. However, because of my appearance I was not allowed to work there. Also, as others have mentioned, not once have I seen an African American working at the store, whether I was a customer or an employee. I will no longer be eating at Panera, I refuse to support a company that I know is not accepting of others.
I visit Panera Bread (St. Louis Bread Company in the St. Louis area) regularly -- three or four times a week. Sometimes I dine in but most of the time I am picking up orders for my family or coworkers. The food is always fresh and although my favorites are not always on the menu (and this is sometimes disappointing) I am always able to find something on the menu I enjoy. My favorite item is the Caramel Latte -- I order this every time I'm there -- better than Starbucks Caramel Macchiato :-) One suggestion however is to order better Traveler Lids for the coffee drinks -- the Solo Traveler lids always crack within a couple of hours -- I usually grab an extra one now before I leave with my order because I know I'm going to need a replacement. Also -- some sort of stoppers for the openings would be nice -- when you carry two or more out the coffee splashes out on the lids -- very messy.
Your food is the best! I frequent your Villages Florida restaurant at least once a week....we are sponsoring a golf tournament for The French Club here and wondered if we could ask you to donate a small gift card. Would really appreciate it as we all really do love your restaurant. Thank you so much. Susan Demers 8995 SE 178th Muirfield Place
On Febuary 21,2011 my co-worker and I ate a the Panera in Columbus,Indiana I had the pic two cheddar broc.soup and the chiken salad sandwich that has almonds in it. As soon as we returned to work i had severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomitting which lasted two hours then still had cramping in stomach but was now passing mucous blood instead of diarrhea this went on for another 2 hours!!!!Mind you I work in a dental office as a chairside assistant i stop counting the number of times i had to leave doctor alone working by himself.I hadn't had any food before my lunch so i know the food poising cames forom Panera.I wrote them a short letter saying what happened the letter had my two phone numbers on it.Someone I know delievered it for me as she works there the only thing the manager told her was I would have to come in there.I will next week after work one day I don't live in Columbus and just haven't had a time to go back.I feel they should've contacted me I was very sick for almost four hours after eatting that sandwich and it was narrowed down to the chicken salad because my co-worker had the cheddar broc.soup,also.I dont feel like the manager was concerned i'd love to know how many other we're sick?????
The BreadCo stores in the St. Louis metro area, especially south St. Louis County, have always had great staff when we go in - friendly & attentive. Bathrooms are clean & stocked. And we love the food! Just wish they'd bring back the portobello mushroom panini.
Hey Panera Bread, go suck a loaf of leavened!! Your rules for your meeting rooms are so ridiculous that your employees can't even get them right. You have defeated your purpose of trying to be better than cafe X. I am cutting up my Panera card and taking my business & appetite somewhere else. Shame on you. The constant flow of customers I could have brought would have been a mutual success but you are just another selfish business blinded by greed and uninterested in your customers and community. It's bad enough that I feel like I am on some assembly line of customers when I have been there ordering, but I was willing to overlook that and see you as having at least the capacity to serve a big group of people I was going to bring on a regular basis...but nooo...a group of 10 must pay x amount of dollars to stay at your precious location (McKnight Road in Pittsburgh, manager named Pamela) for even a couple hours. And the manager's attitude of 'everything's impossible here' just left a very bad taste in my mouth. I should not have to beg a place to be open to the idea of more customers. I even told her that our group of about 10 would be spending money every hour (even for a cup of coffee & snack each that would be over their quota)..but she then told me that the room is not available at all, especially after 10:30 am. WTH? AND, I just went from using it last month (same date and time frame), and for not saying anything and trying to work it out officially with a manager they made at least a couple hundred extra dollars and possibly a handful of loyal customers that may go back because of me marketing their existence. Their food is great, but they are dealing with people..not robots or animals. My students and I are going elsewhere..and not just for these lessons. We are not interested in going there even personally anymore. I have to now tell every student why we cannot have our lessons at Panera anymore...they will be losing a lot of customers. BAD MOVE, PANERA! What the hell kind of people do you hire?? I HATE PANERA! And it's not because of the fact that I could have buy the same soups and breads somewhere similar..it was the atmosphere...but that is just a ploy. That place is not for the customers...it's for an image that means absolutely nothing more than 'we are here for our sakes, not at all for our customers who even allow us to exist here'.
I really love Panera, but there are two incidents that stand out. The first was the day I got my cancer diagnosis. I went to the Panera near the med center, was standing quietly in line (holding in my emotions) and the clerk looked AROUND me to the person standing behind me, and asked them what they would like to order. I burst into tears and left. The second was when Panera made a student of mine come in to work (not the same location, btw) and miss a major exam. I had to schedule make-up time with him late on a Friday, which delayed leaving for an out-of-town trip. We had to drive in the dark on a wet winter day. Neither of us have vision that good anymore. I'm still going to Panera, but corporate needs to realize that customers are human beings who might not fit into your profit model, and make sure the culture of the company reflects this. I try to think of what your employees might be going through, and try not to express irritation I might be feeling over a (mis)order, but repeat calmly, etc. Please do the same for us.
You need to treat and pay males and females equal. Also, associates who smoke have many breaks but nonsmokers do not have these breaks so nonsmokers associates are treated unfairly.
