This company is absolutely terrible. I brought my honda civic in because it was making an extremely loud noise all the time. They said i needed my catalytic converter replaced and the manager pulled me aside and said it was going to cost me 761.00!!!!! and I called my fiance who happens to be a diesel mechanic and he told me that they were just tryingto get money out of me. I called another place and they said they would do it for 250.00!!!! So I told meineke that and they said they could match it. WOW what a price difference, right?! So he said he could repair the catalytic converter for 100 or he can replace it for about 200 so i said ok replace it so i dont have to deal with it later. Well i get charged for a new cat. conv. and i pick my car up and the check engine light is now on...which it was not before i got there. so i gave it about a week to see if it would go off considering they were just moving things around down there.. it still didnt go off then i went to auto zone and had them scan my car and they said it needed a new O2 censor...which shoulve been changed when they replaced my cat.. or at least puut back in place. so my fiance went to change the o2 censor for me and he got under my car and noticed that they didnt even change the catalytic converter!!! It was still the same one.. with rust all over it and there was a brand new metal pipe connecting to the catalytic converter (which was the repair they must have did) and a brand new weld but on the other side of the converter there was still the same rusty, brown weld which proves that this catalytic converter was never even replaced!!!!! And they charged me for a new one. So i go back to meineke thaty i went to in manchester ct and they say to bring my car down. The ignorant manager refuses to listen to anything my fiance has to say and he just kept saying that it was replaced!!! And even im not a mechanic and i could tell it was not replaced!! then he tells us theres no one higher up than him....So then my fiance calls meineke headquarters and they get in touch with someone who apparently is HIGHER up than the manager who told us there was no one higher up than him... He tells me to bring my car down on march 24th and he wouldbe there!! Well i bring my car down after getting out of work early and using my time and gas to go there just to find that the guy who was supposed to look at my car decided not to come in today and the same ignorant manager who wouldnt listen to a thing my fiance had to say before was the one i had to talk to!!! And all he said was we can buy you another cat. conver. and put that one in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WTF! No. I do not want anymore work done on my car from this place. ever. again. ever. I'm now bringing this matter to court.
I had my brakes done at 8410 east Washington street in Indianapolis Indiana I have had to take it back 6 times because it was never fixed the first time they put the wrong brakes on it and a bad rear drum the second time I took it up there they adjusted the brakes and told me to pull up the emergency brake twice a week and it still did not fix them I took it back again a manager from a different store came to fix them that is when i was told that they had put on the wrong brakes so he changed them.I was still hearing the noise so i took it back again march 4th to have my oil changed and had him check the brakes again he came out and told me that the first time that they had done the brakes and put a new rear drumI had t on it the drum must of been a bad drum. on march 4th when i was back up there again they had to change the drum because it was bad now I have it up there again today march 10th for them to redo the brakes again in the last year i have put tuns of money into my car at your place of business . I spend almost a 1000.00 not to long ago at that time i told them to fix everything that was wrong but they did not do that either they failed to tell me at that time I had a value cover leek and my timing belt needed to be changed and all three belts needed to be changed now that I do not have a job they want to start coming out and adding all these things. To be real honest with you I think you should fix the timing belt the three belts and the value for free with all the trouble I have had I am thinking about turning this in to the BBB and letting our channel six news cast know about this. It is ashamed that i have to have all these problem's with your company.
They didn't fix problem i had come in for. I explained the problem( car was jerking) to them. Mechanic said it was the rear brakes. He did not take the car for test drive. First he says $400, i talked him down to $260. Drove out of lot - had the same problem went back and got mechanic in the car. Car started jerking, he said oh that's your transmission. My car hasn't run since that day! Who knows what they did to my engine. What good are brakes if the car won't run! It won't even start! I am now driving a rental! Being a woman they had a field day with me. Turn around is fair plan. I plan on taking Legal action!
This is my experience with a Meineke location here in Phoenix. On 20 December 2010 I took my car in to have the Oxygen Sensors, a Serpetine Belt and an oil change. While they were examining the car leakage surrounding a hose was pointed out and I had the hoses replaced. I was given a price of approximately $500 to make these repairs. I was called later and told the Coolant housing also needed to be replaced which would boost up my price to approximately $700 dollars. This actually came to over $1,000. I gave the go ahead. When I picked up the car I questioned whether or not they had done the oil change. They had not. A mechanic in the shop quickly changed the oil while I waited. My car was at the shop all day. I picked up the car just before closing and did not make it home before the car overheated and shut down. I waited on the side of the road for a few minutes and drove the car the rest of the way home. I live less than 2 miles from the shop. I called the shop when I arrived home informing Pete Montoya the car was not right, it overheated before I got home. I was told to bring it back which I did the following business day. I could not drive the car during this time due to the danger of it overheating. My car has been back to their shop five times as of Saturday 20 December 2010. They do something to the car to get me away from their premises only to have it overheat again. This week the car was towed to them twice, yes in the same week. They also towed it to the shop after I called the corporate office. The next to the last visit I was told the radiator and heater hose were bad I had them both replaced. Another $662.00. Mind you this was after the manager told me he had replaced my hoses. He also told me he replaced the thermostat. I don't believe the original thermostat was bad as it had been replaced the previous summer. Omar Mei, the assistant manager told me this heater hose was on the opposite side of the car so it was not replaced. I picked up the car at closing and made it less than a mile from the shop before it ran hot again. I called their corporate office the next day and explained my situation. By this time I'm out $1800 for repairs and $200 for towing. My car is now sitting in my driveway--I can't drive it. I believe Meineke negligence damaged my engine and will not make good on it. All I want is my car running like it should. It actually ran better before I took it to them a mistake I won't repeat. When I spoke to the Monica at corporate office I was told the owner would call me he hasn't. I get no further than the Manager Pete Montoya. At this point I want Meineke to tow my car to Coulter Cadillac and repaired correctly. I want a rental car while my car is being evaluated and repaired. I want my money returned and for Meineke to pay for the necessary repairs to my car. Update: I had my car towed to the dealer at my expense only to learn my engine has been damaged. Meineke’s “mechanics” did not properly perform replacement to what they called water pump outlet and gaskets. According to cadillacowners.com they should have also replaced the water pump also as one procedure. The employees negligence was the cause of my engine not getting coolant thus causing the head gasket damage. I was given the car back five times and told it was fine only to have it overheat again and again. I suggest someone from your corporate off who has some authority contact me before I begin shopping for an attorney. I have called three times since the last incident only to be transferred to voice mail and no one calls me back. The ball is now in your court. I have been in contact with the cadillac dealer and was quoted $4,500 to repair my car. I think I will contact the Attorney General's office also.
I have included some of the e-mails I have sent and received from Meineke about my poor financial situation. Not to mention the numerous telephone calls made. You can decide for yourself if the customer got a win-win deal or got the shaft. -------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Z, As this situation has been reviewed with the Sr. Vice President there will not be an offer of compensation. The offer letter is for you to be able to use for future use. We have a record of that letter in our system and both the Director of Customer Relations and Sr. Vice President of Meineke have the file along with the Offer Letter. Again, I apologize for this experience and hope that this has not tarnished a relationship with you. Thank you, Monica Gee ------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: mzier(personal) To: Gee, Monica Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 6:18 PM Subject: Meineke's Financial Terms Issue Ms. Gee: As a customer of Meineke since 1995 I have gotten good service and feel that Meineke was a company that stood behind it's products and service. BUT that is not the case as it relates to this issue of your financing program. When I walked into your store here in Omaha on 10/19/10, "Posted" throughout the store were ads that specifically indicated that the terms of Meineke's financing program was 6 months same as cash for purchases of $200.00 or more. So at the time of my service, these were the terms. ( I've actually done your company a big favor by discovering this issue and bringing it to Meineke's attention). Therefore in all fairness, the terms stated are what I expect Meineke to honor. If Meineke wants to change the program after the fact, that's ok, BUT I should not be the one that gets the "short end of the stick" because of an oversight on Meineke's part. I believe two options are available that offer an honest and sincere gesture in resolving this issue. Option #1 : If customer satisfaction is important to Meineke and you want me to continue to patronize your company, I expect Meineke to set me up with the terms "posted" at the time of my service. Nothing less seems fair or honorable on Meineke's part. Option # 2 : As I mentioned in my pervious e-mail, Meineke should, as a "reward" for pointing out this mistake on Meineke's part, offer to pay for my last service and be saying "thank-you". Not we're sorry me made a "BIG" mistake and leave it at that. Leaving the customer hanging and wondering if Meineke as a company is honest and has the customer's best interest, is not what I call good customer service or customer satisfaction. As it stands, you are giving me the impressions that Meineke is not an honorable company. It doesn't stand behind it's financial agreements. It gives one the impression that a "bait-and-switch" situation has occurred. In conclusion, Meineke needs to "step-up" admit it made a HUGE mistake and make good with those customers that met the terms of the " 6 months same-as cash with purchase of $200.00 or more" terms as posted on and prior to 10/19/10. Is $200.00 worth losing a 15 year customer over? You decide. Horrible service. I have taken two vehicles from my business to a location in Erie, PA. I was billed for $5800.00 and the problems are still not fixed. The truck was sent back to my fleet without being properly aligned and the tires were worn down to the wires by the time my employee drove across town. Secondly, the owner of this franchise attempted to commit insurance fraud by telling me he would mark up the price of the deductible on a bill and refund the deductible to me after the service was complete. I have since paid other mechanics to fix the problems. Personally, I, or my businesses will never do business to Meineke again.
Meineke Center 292 4000 Atlanta Road SMYRNA, GA 30080 I usually don't use side places like this because of their ripoff record. I had an immediate issue with my car and they were close to my house. I went up there and needed a catylitic converter. They replaced it and everything seemed to be fine. 2 days later my engine light came back on so I took it back up there. Of course they tried to make me spend more money. I told them that okay, I will be back to get the suggested parts. I took my car to my REAL mechanic and he and another mechanic confirmed that the catylitic converter they put on was a piece of junk and to have them replace it. After taking my mechanic up there with the detection device and showed them they codes, they agreed to replace it but had to order the new converter. That was two weeks ago, everytime I show up or call to get the new converter, they have a different excuse. We got the wrong part in, my exhaust guy is off, etc etc... I'm trying to be patient, but I'm about to get ugly. James is the guy who runs this establishment. He is lazy and a liar. I will be up there everyday in there face if need be and I will make sure that all of their customers that are in the waiting room are aware of my situation. 400 dollars isn't chump change to be throwing away.
Do not take your vehicle to any of the houston stores! I took my vehicle in for brake work to the longpoint location, my car ended up staying there for two days! The sad part is after receiving my car back, I was able to drive it about a mile then my brakes locked up! They wouldn't tow it for free. I paid $80 just to get it back to the shop. They told me it was nothing they could do. I then took my vehicle to another mechanic to learn the meineke put the wrong part on my car! They proceeded to give me the run around but after 2months they actually ordered the right part. So unprofessional! They didn't even apologize!
I see now, that I am not the only one who has been ripped off, taken advantage of, and not have calls returned. I entrusted my vehicle to Meineke (Bflo, NY) for years, oh they were fine doing the maintenance (oil& filter, tire rotation etc) but when they tell you need this or that, you do it , pay up the caboose, return for the same problems, problem not resolved, they cause more damage to your vehicle, don't own up to it, and no one calls you back....Where are you CEO, Presidents ? return my calls, or respond to the letter I am sending to you.
Nov 2010 took my S10 Blazer to Meineke in gelbert AZ to have my lower intake manifold gasket replaced...$827 later I got my truck back from them I got to drive it a whole 48 miles before my oil pump went out while on I10 ruining the engine. I have been in contact with Bruce Clark with customer service who told me that he would be calling me back on monday. No call on monday, so I called him on tuesday and his secretary told me he was on the other line. Wednesday I got ahold of Bruce who then lied to me and told me he was out of the office on monday and tuesday and was very rude said he had a conference call at 3pm and he would call me back as soon as it was over. Go fig Bruce didnt call again. How do you run a company when you treat your customers like this. I have over $300 in towing fee's and $500 in rental charges But i guess maybe Bruce will call me tomorrow...
My son purchased a lifetime guarantee for brake pads for my car, he spent about $500 and more. I went back to the store for my brakes because they start grinding on a Sunday I took my car to the shop on a Monday only for the saleman to jack the price up of about $394.00. Stating the car needs rotars and they could not replace the lifetime guarantee brake pads. Not only that they had a sign out front of the store advertising oil change for women for $9.99. When I went to pay for the oil change they charged me an extra $5.00 to depose of the oil, but on my receipt it showed $2.50 for deposing of the oil. They are false advertising all the way round Meineke is a big rip off and I plan to tell the world! Pam
My car left me stranded on the highway and I the tow truck driver (AAA) took me to Meineke (AAA endorsed). It was my fuel pump. They replaced it and I paid them $944.00. That was in July 2010. In October 2010, my "check engine light" went on and I took it to the dealer where they found that the fuel pump was not "attached" properly. It cost me $349.00 to have the gas tank removed and replaced for them to find the problem, which they fixed. Do not go to Meineke for car repairs. They do not know what they are doing. They owe me $349.00.
My daughter took her car to meineke in Lowell Massachusetts for a grinding noise from the back tires. She had asked them to look at the car to determine what was wrong and not to conduct any work until they calculated costs of the repair. She had also asked them to look at why her dash board lights were flickering. When she went to pick up the car she was told the brake job would cost around $900 because the rear rotors and brakes needed to be replaced and that the calipers were ceased and they would need replacing as well. They had also told her that the flickering in the dash board was due to a failed sensor that would cost $1500 to replace and that the car was unsafe and she should not be driving it. Since she is a college student and barely gets by as it is she decided to park the car and not do the work. Meineke charged her $98 and wrote it up as a diagnostic charge. Since I work on my own cars and know more than your average person I decided to take a ride and see the issues for myself. After taking the car for a ride it was obvious that the pads and rotors needed to be replaced and the supposedly ceased calipers were working well. Also I found a loose wire that was grounding causing the display lights to flicker when she hit a bump. I took the car to a local shop and had the work done in less than 2 hours and they charged me less the $290. They replaced the rotors, brakes and fixed the loose wire. The reason I am writing this is because this particular Meineke owner seems to be taking advantage of the fact they are in a college town and prey on kids that are on their own. When I called them and challenged his position he said "whatever buddy" and hung up on me. So I decided to visit him and I asked him if Meineke knows how their name is being represented and if he treats all his customers this way. He was very combative in this discussion in which I told him that he had lost a customer in which he shrugged his shoulders and it was clear he did not care. I am not sure if Meineke evaluates their operators but this guy thought he was going to get away with over charging for work he was not going to do. What he did get away with was a young womans hard earned $98 and a disgruntled father that knew he was trying to steal from.
This company has very poor customer service. Had our car serviced there for an oil change. Two days later our car was out of oil and knocking which left us stranded on the side of the road due to the wrong oil filter being put on the vehicle. Luckily we caught it before our engine locked. We took it back to the location and they said they would fix it. When we got our vehicle back there was a loud knocking sound when driving it. We took it back again and they said they would fix it. Come to find out it was the lifter that was knocking. After taking our car back 4 times they still had not fixed the problem. They also would not give us a car to drive. We have 3 small children that need to get to school and we have struggled to get them there. They finally agreed to put another motor in the car that was used and upon doing so they kept our car for going on what is now the 5th day. I am an upset customer that wants an answer. I have no car to drive to get my kids to school or myself to work.
Very unsatisfied with the poor and awful service that I received on my last visit. First of all I brought my van in for a prefered customer oil change (the usual) that includes brake check and fluid top off (at least that what the ad says) So I dropp off my car and about 2hours later a get a call form the guy at the shop to let me know that my car was ready but that one of the lug nuts and stud had broke when they where taking off the rim. #1MISTAKE: As far as I know if they brake soemthing aren't they responsible? Well as far as I know if they would've called me an told me hey you know yout rim lug nut is loose or weak and might brake if we try to take it off and I would've said that it was ok for them to proceed then it would've been my fault. But the only call I got from them was to let me know that they had broke it and that I had to pay for the parts and labor to get it fixed (which was going to cost me $80.00!) IF I wanted to get it fixed. Ok, so I come in to get my van and explain that I have to go get my daugter at school so they tell me that I can take the van like that and bring it back later if I want them to fix it but that they dont have the parts there so that if I wanted I could go and buy them from the Chrysler dealer. So I go and pick my dauhter up from school and then run tho the dealer and get the parts (out of my pocket) So I buy the parts and go back to the shop and tell me I have the parts. Again I ask them that since that was some thing they did that they should be responsible for getting it fixed. Again they say no. Now I'm not sure if they were treating me like this just because they saw me by myself with my two girls, but whatever the reason is I'm still very upset by the situation. So about three days later I start to hear and awful sound whenever I'd hit the brakes. BUT according to meineke they had checked my brakes as a "courtesy inspection" Obviously that wasnt the case. So I took my car to a DIFFERENT shop and they showed bow bad my brakes were and couldn't believe meineke didnt say anyhting. Well I know why, becaus ethey never even checked them. Not only that but this morning as I was drving my daugyter to school my dashborad began to alert me that it was overheating! Why? Becuase it had no coolant so I pop open the hood to find that the coolant container was completely empty. Therefpre that sure tells me that meineke never checked my brakes and never topped off the fluids! I'm very disappointed I expected so much more from a place like meineke. Just if youre wondering my van is under the 100,000 miles and I'm the type of person that likes to get there vehicle serviced every 3,000 miles. I wasn't going to say anything about the first inccident but then when I noticed they had never checked my brakes I began to heat up and then his morning when I noticed my fluids hadnt been topped off.....well that did it.I've been calling the customer service number but no one answers.
1st I had my truck tuned up with oil change and lube. I told them my truck was shaking and had asked them to check the ujoints to make sure they were not the cause of the shaking. I was told they were fine. I asked if all of the fittings took grease, José ask his worker if they all took grease he replied yes they did. I paid and left. 2nd visit I called and told them it is still shaking. They told me that I needed new shocks and they would rotate the tires, I had that done. Then I left and did not use the truck for 2 weeks. When I did use the truck it stated to shake worse than before. then it started to leak tramistion fluid I called José and left a message what had happened to me & asked him to call me, (HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL) So I called him again Monday morning. And told him I was going to bring it in. I did he was going to do some other repairs as well. Then he called me and told me I have real problems my transfer case is broken because the ujoints were bad (DUE TO THE FACT THAT HE NEVER CHECKED THE UJOINTS BOTH TIMES I WAS THAIR) and not one grease fitting had been greased. (THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE FINE) (THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE GREESED) then when I called Jose, he said that I told them to check only one the front ujoint not the back I SAID check the ujoints. When you check ujoints you check (all of them.) Which he did not, he never even greased any of them even when he should have changed the oil and lube. I have pictures of the rusty fittings with no grease on any of them. And videos of the u joints that don’t even have pin bearings left in them they are so bad. I don’t know what happened here. I thought he was a good guy?? Then he told me that I needed a new transfer case which would be like $1500.00 plus the installation of it. That was a lie it only needs the front sleeve I got a price of $900.00 to $1000.00 to get it done from someone I don’t even know. So he wanted to charge me double the cost. For work that he caused. Do to not checking or replacing the ujoints. And they out right lied when I asked how they were and if they took grease. If they had checked, changed or told me to get them changed. We would not be where we are right now He should pay for the repairs to my truck. if he did his job and he did not lie to me, this would have never happened
Meineke Corporate Office Said they would get back to me never did So BBB then court
I took my car to Meineke to check my brakes because they were squeaking. During my conversation with the owner I mentioned the car was a lease. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I was told it would take just 20 minutes to check the problem, turned out it was nearly 2 1/2 hours later and a bill for nearly $800 that supposedly changed my front and back brake pads and rotors. Paid my bill. About 2 days later, while commuting 1 1/2 hours one way out of state each day to work the car began squeaking. I called the Meineke shop again and was told to bring the car back in. I travel five days a week and felt annoyed that I had to get up on a Saturday morning at 7:30a.m. to be first on line to be in and out. The young kid who took my keys was complaining about the car being 'just fine' after he took it for a 2 minute test drive. I was on the road again and on my way home to get my rest from a long week of road travel. On my way home I came to the first traffic light and the squeaking noise happened again. I was livid. Didn't have the energy to turn back around so I went home. During the week I was asked to take out a client at work. I felt embarrassed and went out to my car to warm it up and to drive it around the block a few times before the client got in it. No such luck. My car was squeaking worse than ever and this time too, each time I applied my brakes it seemed as though my brakes were going to fall out. The client asked what the problem was with the car and I mentioned I had just gotten them replaced at Meineke. I was thoroughly embarrassed and felt this situation had demeaned my executive status. I called Meineke in Stroudsburg, PA again and showed my anger. I was told to bring it in on Saturday morning. I was at the shop by 8:00a.m. and was not greeted warmly, as if I was the one at fault. Rather I immediately got, "GIVE ME YOUR KEYS!!!!". Bad attitude. I immediately raised my voice in front of the customers and said I was displeased and had been there three times. I asked if my brakes were ever replaced and if they just took my money and ran. There was no way I had new brakes in that car. No way. He said he swore to God that he had replaced them, all the while looking down at the floor. We both knew the correct answer to my question. I asked how long it would take. He said 20 minutes. About one hour of waiting I asked what the problem was. He said he had to order "new front clips". I told him I thought he said, when we test drove it that morning and heard the LOUD squeaking noises that it was the back brakes as he told me it was. He explained that his mechanic said it was the front brake pads and that they were faulty. I asked how two sets of brakes could be 'faulty'. Again, he looked down at the floor and said "well..." I started taking notes and he got nervous. He asked the young woman at the front desk to follow him behind the door into the garage. They were there for quite some time talking. She came back out about 10 minutes later and looked red faced and down the entire time. I wondered what was up with that. About 1 1/2 later I started to pace and feel very nervous and angry. I asked the owner what the hold up was and he said he had to order the front clips. About 2 hours into my waiting he came out and said it was done and that he was going to go for a test drive. I told him I would be going with him. He made a snide and sexual comment, "Why don't we then go and take the afternoon off TOGETHER", in front of his customers and front office person. I was thoroughly embarrassed, as an executive level woman with a higher degree I felt insulted and sickened. I ignored him and continue to walk to my car with him. We test drove it. I asked him while I was there if he had lied to me about ever putting my brakes in to begin with since I still had the same problem the first time. He again swore, looking out the side window, that he did the job the first time. We drove in silence. No squeaking noise. All seemed OK. He drove back to the Meineke shop and literally flung opened the door and walked out. Left me there sitting in the passenger seat with the car running. Oil was all over my car. I was so angry. I want a full refund. The time and effort it took for me to get back to Meineke 3 times just to get the job right after I put my trust into this was inexcusable. I will spread the word especially now that I see all of these cases online courageously sharing their stories. How could they get away with doing this to hard working, upstanding American citizens. Finally, I noticed too that when white males walked into that shop, they were greeted warmly with a hand shake. The minute anyone of color walked in, they were treated coldly and with such disrespect. Never again will I set foot at another Meineke and I will be sure my community is aware of this very shoddy service. Also, that Meineke store allowed their employees to smoke and it was reeking in the garage and permeating through the waiting area. I had to leave the store several times just to get that stench off of me and out of my lungs.
