So the Westland gym is closed and my husband and I have life time memberships. I called the corporate office to see if they would be compensating us because we no longer have a gym to go to. The lady on the phone didn't give a crap and kept telling me to go the the Dearborn location. I told her it was not convenient for me to go there and she said "well, that's your choice". It is not my choice as it is not near me and I told her they took my choice away when they closed Westland. She just said "oh well" and there would be no compensation. This is totally ridiculous.

Any class action law suite for life time members? What a joke company, limited days, limited hours, no weekends included and now they are closing the closest places. Two hours for the nearest! I should have seen this coming. We are like 6 of my family as members. If any have any information for a class case action count me in. There are other class actions against Fitness who sold life time membership and closed their doors or harassed their members so they can make subsidiary starting profit.

Being a Lifetime Member (Westland)since 1977,when they had a juice bar,it was a Spa. What I joined then changed into a "GYM" and there`s a "gym" on every corner.I remember seeing my 5th grade teacher in there one day and him telling me that I had made it by joining. Now I`m ashamed that I did. I say stick a fork in it, it`s done!

I was devastated to arrive at my westland fitness and see that it has closed. I didn't go regularly but enough to get pissed when I saw the sign saying it was permanently closed. I feel bad for the older members, it was their club for 40 years. 80 and 90 year olds who swam three days a week. Now my choice is Dearborn? NO WAY, filthy, nasty loud, crowded. I've seen women do things in the wet area that grossed me right out of the pool. the middle eastern women run the show there, hogging the machines, spitting in the pool, loofing their skin. GROSS

I'm so upset with the closing of the Westland branch. I went on vacation and when I returned the place was closed. I paid for a lifetime membership and I am not able to go to another location, what can I do now? Will they be returning anyone's money? Does anyone have any info?

Just found out that Sterling Heights Fitness USA is closed. No phone call, no snail mail...nothing, zip, nada. So, as a lifetime card owner and a daughter, also, with a lifetime membership, what now? I'm assuming nothing can or will be done and knowing we are just 2 of many in what looks like a company folding. Lesson has been learned....never will I or any other family member purchase a lifetime membership for a fitness club...never.

My mother-in-law and brother-in-law have been Gold Lifetime Members for over 22 years; and my husband, son, and I have been Lifetime Members since returning back to Michigan in 1999! I would like to know how NCC is going to return the Lifetime Members dues and fees - since obviously the facilities that we live near and go to workout at have ALL CLOSED DOWN (with the others not far behind)?? TO ANNONYMOUS: YOU MUST BE A STUPID EMPLOYEE MAKING THOSE COMMENTS. FIRST OF ALL, IF YOU CLAIM FITNESS USA HAVEN'T HAD ANY CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS YET ("YET" IS THE KEYWORD HERE)!! SECOND, ONE OF THE REASONS THAT FITNESS USA HAS BEEN LOSING MEMBERS IS BECAUSE OF THE LIMITED DAYS AND HOURS AVAILABLE WHEN OTHER WORK WORKOUT ORGANIZATIONS ARE OPEN 24/7 NOW. THIRD, THE POOLS AND WHIRLPOOLS ARE FOR MEMBERS AND/OR GUESTS ONLY NOT "PUBLIC" WHICH MEANS MEMBERS PAY FEES AND DUES TO HAVE THE FACILITIES CLEANED OFTEN AND PROPERLY BY EMPLOYEES!! AND ANYWAY, THAT'S WHAT SHOWERS ARE MADE FOR - I GUESS YOU MUST DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THOSE EITHER - SO YOU GET A LIFE AND AN EDUCATION WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!!!!!!! FINALLY, THE BOTTOM LINE IS: MEMBERS PAID THEIR "HARD EARNED MONEY" TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ONGOING ISSUES AT FITNESS USA -SO ARE YOU SERIOUS?????

Well after reading all of the complaints, I will say, I WILL NOT be joining Fitness USA. Seems like they're a joke of a company; 15 complaints within 6 months, yah, not a good place to do business. Thank you all for making my decision! PS - As for 'Anonymous', seriously, if you were telling the truth, you would not be afraid to sign you name. You too are a joke!

THAT PLACE IS A HELL HOLE TO WORK FOR...THEY XPECT U TO SELL MEMBERSHIPS TO A CLUB THAT IS POORLY MAINTENANCED AND WHEN U DO THE BITCH KIM BLACKMON WITH HER ASHY ASS SCALP AND RANGATANG SAGGY BOOBS WILL GIVE IT TO WHOEVER SHE FEELS LIKE IT AND HER SIDE KICK KELLI DETMERS THAT OLD ASS HAG ALWAYS FROWNS UPON MEMBERS AND WORKERS THAT SMOKE AN TURN AROUND AND GO SMOKE A CIGARETTE IN PRIVATE! WHENEVER SHE DONT HAVE ONE SHE BEGS ONE OF THE WORKERS FOR NICOTINE PATCHES. SHE CLAIMS TO BE A SAINT BUT I HOPE WHATEVER GOD SHE WORSHIPS HAS MECY ON HER PITIFUL SOUL! THE ONLY GREAT NEWS ABOUT THAT PLACE IS THAT THEY ARE FINALLY GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!!

My concern is now that ALL the Fitness USA's are closing their doors one by one Westland being next on August 13, 2011 3 have recently closed including Southfield, what does cooprate plan on doing for the lifetime memebers who have already paid thousands of dollars for poor service and reduced staff over the years, lack of repairs on the equiptment etc. I will not by any means believe this has ANYTHING at all to do with the economy. Has any one started a Class Action Law Suite for the lifetime memebers, if so please post the contact information, as my husband and I both have spend a few thousand dollars to have the lifetime privilidge of Fitness in our life.

Called them monday the 15th and they were RUDE. I had to leave a mesage with the "head lady" and then when I called back after a half hour because they were about to close for the day and hadnt gotten back to me the receptionist told me that I was an adult and we didnt need to play these games, the lady would get back to me when she gets back to me and I would NOT be transfered to her voicemail to leave a 2nd message that I should be more mature than this. wth! First they handle my situation at the gym VERY unprofessionally.

I would like to complain about an employee, the locker room attendant at the Dearborn, Mi. and Westland club. Her name is Rose is of middle eastern decent, which I have no problem with. However she has taken it upon herself to harrass africian american members. At the Dearborn club,most of the members are of the same ethnic group as Rose. At that club they are allowed to swim with long hair, and no swimming caps; they can eat at pool side, fruit as well as other food, bought in from the outside. They are allowed to wear outside clothes in the sauna, full black gear which completly covers there entire bodies, nothing is exposed except their eyes. However, at the Westland club, African American members cannot not have a towel on there heads while in the sauna without Rose approching them, inquiring as to what they have on their heads. We're not allowed, according to Rose to bring bottled water into the sauna, let alone a piece of fruit at pool side. She acts like the Gestapo watching everything we do, standing at the ready to run in and correct it. I've attempted to spoke to the area manager when she's around, she always tells me she doesn't have time to speak to me, however she never appears to be busy. All of the arm chairs were removed from the wet area, a Caucasian member told me that Rose told her she would be happy to bring her a chair, she told her she was keeping them in the back office, because she didn't want the "Fat Ass black women, who sat in them for hours to break them." Caucasian members can leave their towels on chair's and chaise's, and in the sauna to save them, however she removes towels, of black members, after she confirms that they belong to black members. Certain Caucasian members working in tandem with Rose, are empowered to shut down the steam room, when they judge it to be too hot, without having set foot inside, Rose accommodates them, without question. I would use my name, however, I'm relutant to do so, because this sitution is too volatile, and reprisals are sure to follow. This racism must stop, or a formal signed complaint is sure to follow!

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR CHANGING HOURS AND CANCEALING SUNDAYS? YOU DID THIS A HOLIDAY TIME AND NOW THIS, WHICH IT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT WORK. YOU CLOSING AT 5:00 PM IS CRAZY. THEN CUT SUNDAY OFF ALSO. I AM DISABLED AND DEPEND ON THE GYM, TO STAY OUT OF WHEEL CHAIR. THEN WHEN WE CONTACT YOU ABOUT A PROBLEM ALL YOU DO IS SAY CHECKING IN ON IT. YOU CAN NOT SAY YOU ARE MAKING NO MONEY, SINCE I SEE PEOPLE JOINING 3 DAYS A WEEK AT LEAST. I WAS THERE THIS MORNING AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT FIXED CHUCKHOLES IN PARKING LOT. THE ONE BY HANDICAP PARKING IS TERRIBLE, ARE YOU WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT OR CAR DAMAGE. THEN GET INSIDE AND SEE WHERE YOU ARE CHANGING HOURS.I REALLY HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO DO SOME REPAIR WORK, LIKE CLEANING, GET RID OF BUGS, SWIMMING POOL SO DIRTY, PEOPLE WOULD NOT GO IN TODAY.STEAM ROOM LOOKS LIKE BLACK MOLD ON DOOR AND WINDOWS. WHIRL POOL JETS HAVE NOT WORKED,5 OUT FOR OVER MONTH NOW. HOW SAD IT IS HOW YOU LET THIS PLACE FALL APART. I DON'T THINK THE VENTS HAVE EVER BEEN CLEANED SINCE YOU OPEN THE FLINT MI. SPA. I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU DOING SOMETHING, WHEN YOU PAINTED DRESSING ROOMS, LOCKERS AND DRY HEAT ROOM FLOOR, BUT YOU STOP THERE. IT IS TERRIBLE HOW YOU LET THIS PLACE GET, WHEN AT ONE TIME IT WAS THE BEST, IN THE AREA.

I was talked into an account at Fitness USA. I paid for a 2 years membership, yet for almost 5 years they've been taking money out of my account. The staff in the FLINT location were rude and refused to help, take measurements or do anything to be supportive. When trying to cancel my account, I was told they'd only do so by written request and even then, they're continuing to steal money from my account. I will never again use Fitness USA or it's subsidiaries and will make sure all friends, family and anyone I talk to know of how poorly this company treats it's members.

U.S.A.fitness deserves a minus 10 rating- I have been a member of 5 different facilities over the last 30 years and it is the worst I have ever been to.I am surprised they have not been shut down by the fire-marshall, board of health and B.B.B. The lockers and whole building need painting and repair-last week I went in and half the lights were out in the locker room. One Sunday I,along with about twenty other women stood out in the freezing cold as the door was locked and no- one had a key. When questioned by a member, the "manager,(Darrel)blamed it on a schedule change. At the time there was a trainer inside and all the t.v.'s were on, and another employee stood outside with us. I only saw someone clean the floor once and then dumped the filthy water into one of the showers- Yech! One of the "Instructors that teaches aeobics uses foul language and criticizes people who are on disability- calling them lazy ass so and so's who live off the government. She has also made other negative political statements that have no place in the workplace. She is unprofessional and crude, lacks common sense and tact and dresses like a homeless person. There is one employee that works ALL THE TIME and he deserves to be the manager- His name is Jose- He is kind, polite courteous professional, hard working and dedicated. I have NEVER seen him goof off, act unprofessional or eat behind the counter, play on his cell-phone or gossip with the other employees- This seems to be the norm with the staff at FITNESS U.S.A. IN FLINT MI If they did not have a pool I would have never joined- Not that I have I can't wait to find another gym as this is the most disgusting place I have ever been. Last but not least the BAIT AND SWITCH tactic is so obvious to all.One day they have a special only to be changed and reversed by another one the next day= it seems all FITNESS USA cares about is how many members they can sign up and how much money they can get upfront- Instead of how many members they can get to stay- maybe that is the goal-get thri money and get them to leave so there is more room for new suckers.

south bend,is bad,took-out-whirlpool-sauna/steam,room never,,works we women lov it , so never dirty showers never clean they,wear street shoes in the steam room/sauna hope we can get'clean,i enjoy this place to exercise swimpool- steamroom -sunns, and this should take this place, this is no excuse for the money we pay this is a healith prob, boss should surprize them some time the corporate not going to read this, not sure they really care but im going to make as much noise asi can and not a member either for long so any more complaint welcome

BAD...Yep that is how would I would describe it. Paid for one of the most expensive memberships, got help twice. What a crock and rip off! Changed the hours, hot tub was and still is broken, actually something was always broken or not working...I quit!!!!

I am a lifetime member of the Fitness USA health spa on Ireland Rd in South Bend In.I was informed yesterday that the whirlpool was down and never to be opened again.This is outrageous.I was sold on the wet area over 20 yrs ago.I was in an auto accident on 12-09-10.Just got clearance from my Dr.to go for a light workout and whirlpool to help with my back and tendon injuries.The staff told me I could call and complain E-mail write a letter but it won't do any good because the idiots at your corporate office have made up their mind to never have a whirlpool at this location again!Well after going on-line and seeing all the class action lawsuits that have been filed against fitness usa in the past.I think it's time to send another one in the way of your corporate attoneys.This will cost way more than the 1 estimate of $20,000 to fix the whirlpool.You might want to think about that before you fill it in with cement as I was told will be done this coming next week per Michelle vice-president.What an answer.After going on line and seeing all the class action suits filed against Fitness USA it is a wonder that you are still in business.Oh well like they say all things must pass.I see bankruptcy in the futre for Fitness USA...I am not a hateful person.Just mad enough to make sure this class action lawsuit gets filed.1 star can't be changed to submit.Real rating -1000%
