On Sunday April 3, my wife, 3 children and I decided to go out for dinner at the Ponerosa near the Galleria Mall in Johnstown, PA. We were celebrating my birthday and, knowing my children love shrimp and I love steak, I decided to partake in the "all you can eat" steak or shrimp event being advertised. I ordered the "A.Y.C.E." steak meal without the buffet and my daughter ordered the "A.Y.C.E." shrimp with the buffet. I was by the cashier what kind of dressing I would like on my dinner salad and I told her I would like Italian. We were seated and my family proceeded to indulge in the buffet while I waited for my salad. Twenty minutes passed and still no salad. I asked the waitress, Kristen, if I could have my salad and she said I could get one from the buffet if I liked or, she could bring me a salad out. Not wanting any further delay with my meal, I chose the first option and created my own small salad (still trying to conserve room for the "all you can eat steak"). When our meals finally arrived, my steak was prepared medium well instead of medium rare as I had instructed the cashier. However, being hungry after waiting all afternoon for the "all you can eat" steak, I decided not to raise a fuss and just eat the steak. My daughter didn't fare much better with her meal only recieving a half dozen pieces of shrimp with her french fries. So much for the "all you can eat" deal. After my daughter finished her shrimp and I neared finishing my steak, I hailed the waitress, who had walked by our table several times without asking if we needed anything. I asked her for another round of shrimp for my daughter and another steak medium rare this time. Again, after another lenghty wait, my steak finally arrived and it was well done. The piece of meat was about four ounces and dried out. It was so small, it looked like a brown boat on a white ocean and I said to the waitress "You have got to be kidding me". She was confused and asked my wife if she wanted more tender tips. My wife didn't even get the "A.Y.C.E." meal. I was very disappointed and she assured me she would get me another steak. I ate the tiny steak and decided to leave. We had already been there an hour and my family was done eating. The manager, Thomas, came over and offered his appology and to pay for my meal. I politely declined and my family and I left. I am a working man and didn't go there for something free. I only wanted what I had paid for and that certainly didn't happen. There is a reason we don't frequent chain restauraunts. The food is usually poor at best and the service is shoddy.

I took a friend for lunch to the Ponderosa in Meadville Pa. We were very disappointed with the dryed up,I think they were sweet potatoes and the cheese rice was so hard you couldn't eat it. While eating we like to look out over the beautiful country side but the windows were so dirty it was hard to do so... I don't know if they were having a bad day or not but I don't think we will go back for awhile... Roxene

This is for the Ponderosa in Jackson, Michigan. My husband and I went there yesterday at 3:15 for the senior buffet. Half the dishes on the buffet were empty or so old that you couldn't eat it. The pizza crust was like shoe leather. No soup bowls till we finally tracked someone down and a lady brought them but she said she had to many assignments to keep the bowls up. When we got our plate we had to go through 4 before we found some with out food on them. The manager was just scurring around not doing a thing except trying to figure out how to change his watch. (Little late isn't it) I had the feeling they weren't filling the buffet until it got to 4 o'clock. We were leaving at that time and I looked everything was full and fresh. It's not like we were trying to get the evening buffet at the afternoon price. We;d have been long gone before that. I was so disappointed because we've always enjoyed Ponderosa but you know I don't think we will be back in a hurry. What a shame. signed: Barbara Musbach email: bobra%@comcast

Went to the breakfast buffet this morning in Johnstown, PA around 9:30 am. No bacon, no sausage, no ham available, only baked chicken and a pot of leftover taco meat from last night's dinner buffet most likely. The scrambled eggs were burnt to a crispy brown. There was something called "egg casserole" which contained chopped up sausage links and onions (had to be leftovers from yesterday morning) because there was no sausage anywhere else in sight!! I was able to get a biscuit with white gravy (lucky me) because when I went back for a second one, NO MORE GRAVY!! Still, no bacon, no meat of any kind except chicken and taco meat..most things were gone with empty pans; people standing and waiting and waiting for absolutely nothing. My granddaughter WAS able to get a few potatos, which I would bet my life were chopped up left-over baked potatos from last night; sure did appear that way. I then asked my granddaughter to please go get her and I a sticky bun. NONE...ZERO...NOTHING. She did say there was bread left; no thank-you! We left there hungry and paid way too much for what we were able to have. Selection just didn't exist and what items were available were disgusting. Ponderosa needs to stop advertising their breakfast buffet. We will not be going back again!! Horrible, horrible, experience. The worst ever!!

On Friday Feb 18th, we went to the Hazleton Pa location for dinner and buffet. Everything was fine until we were given a similar check instead of ours that had already been paid. We gave it to the cashier, who couldn't get it to go through, so she went to get the shift manager, Mike. Instead of figuring out the problem he just forced the check through. I asked to look at the check again and realized it was wrong, so he voided the transaction and ran our actual check through. Unfortunately, the bank doesn't credit the voided transaction until three days later. Mike was very rude, offered no apology for the mix up and treated us like we were stupid, when it was him and his employees that made the mistake. I have tried repeatedly to contact corporate and the complaint line to no avail, and will not be going back unless they compensate me for my bank overdraft fee.

I was at the Ponderosa on Conneaut Lake Road in Meadville, Pa 16335 on Sunday, February 6, 2011 for the breakfast buffet. This experience was horrible. The service (waitress) was good, but the buffet was awful. My family of 4 went up several times and there was nothing available to eat. No eggs, bacon, french toast sticks, pancakes, cheesy casserole. It was mainly fruit, muffins and cereal. There was still 1 1/2 hours left of the buffet. This is ridiculous to have to walk up 3-4 times and get barely nothing on your plate. It is poorly run the way they were opperating the restaurant, you prepare food ahead of time and replace it as it needs it, not have to be told that it is in the oven for a few minutes yet...What is that?? Uncalled for in my eyes...Many people were complaining about the restaurant...............Sincerely, Dorothy Adamcik

My wife and I recently had lunch at your Altoona Pa location and I have to say it was so bad. When we walked in the young lady took our order and we payed for our meals (both your lunch buffet) and then she told us to find your on seat!! So walking around we tried to find a seat that we hoped no one else was sitting at since we had know idea if anyone was or not. We went up to the buffet and I have to say being in this industry this buffet was the worst I have seen in a long time. You had no fried chicken breast on the buffet just legs and thighs? The pasta looked as if it sat out over night and your stuffing had chucks of carrots all thru it? We went up to the salad bar and I understand people are messy when filling up at buffets but it looked as if a bus load of people just went thru it, meaning like nothing in some containers and items mixed with other items. The server did come and get out drink order but finding her for refills was a job in its self. The manager did come out but never stopped by to see how our lunch was (most places want or make managers to do table touches ) so that you get to know your guests and also take care of problems before your guests walk out and don't come back again. The uniforms for the employees were bad also, the jeans were ok but the Red polo shirts were not appealing at all for both men and woman. Your kitchen staff that came out to the buffet had stains all over their shirts and didn't seem to be gust friendly. We got up and proceeded to the door and never got a good bye or thank you for joining us by either the Manager, server or cashier at the front. I would say it has been the worst place I have been to eat and I will not be back. I hope you take all the feedback you got from me and others on here and make some changes quick or I don't see your Restaurant making it.

Went to Massenna New York Ponderosa for lunch buffet recently. Being Diabetic I decided to have water with my meal. My freind ordered first and got a soda, my turn next (we had coupons) I ordered water and was told by the cashier that in order to use the coupon I had to order a pepsi product..NO WHERE on the Coupon did it specify this, should have turned around and left there but decided to proceed with the meal, very much a dissaray in this diner!! and Cold food! I will not be BACK !!

This last Sunday, the guys from the corporate office came to the Ponderosa in Cape Girardeau and just shut the business down. No warning to the employees. No two weeks notice or anything. Suddenly and without warning, they just put a bunch of people out of work in one fail swoop. The business was doing so well. They had customers in there all the time, many restaurant patrons. The food was great, the service was fantastic. I'm not giving the one star to the restaurant itself. That deserves five stars. I thought the way the corporate office just terminated jobs, right smack dab in the middle of the Christmas season and before the new year(2011), was a very poor decision on their part, especially in this recession era, where jobs mean everything to those of us wage-earners, trying to make ends meet.

ON OCT. 25TH AT 8:35PM I CAME TO YOUR RESTAURANT IN BRIDGETON, MO. I ASKED THE CASHIER AND THE MANAGER IF THEY WERE CLOSED, THE MANAGER SAID, NOT TILL 9:00PM. THEY SAID THE BUFFET WAS CLOSED AND I ORDERED MY 7.99 SIRLOIN DINNER AND WAS SEATED AND I GOT MY SALAD AND DRINK. BY THE TIME MY ORDER CAME OUT THE MANAGER APPROACHED ME AND SAID WE ARE CLOSED AND YOU NEED TO HURRY ALONG. I ASKED FOR A TO-GO PLATE AND THEY COULD ONLY GIVE ME ALUMINUM FOIL WRAP AND BAGS TO PLACE MY FOOD IN. HOW CAN YOU EAT A STEAK IN TWO MINUTES? AND, ALSO IF THEY WERE CLOSING WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME TO GET MY ORDER TO-GO? THERE WERE FOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE RESTAURANT THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN EATING AND THE MANAGER APPROACHED THE OTHER CUSTOMERS AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY WERE CLOSED BUT THEY HAD ALREADY FINISHED THEIR MEAL. IS IT YOUR POLICY TO RUSH A CUSTOMER THROUGH THEIR MEAL EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD IT WAS OKAY TO ORDER MY MEAL AND BE SEATED?

Manager at the Potsdam Ny ponderosa VERY RUDE!!!!!!! Our entire office goes there for lunch several times per week. All 10 of us always get the small salad bar box to go. We went in today and the rude manager told us that she would no longer sell us the small salad bar box!!!!!!

on 10/01/2010 myself and my children and grandchildren went to eat there, i wasnt going to make a comment but every time we go to the pondersa in jackson, ohio these people are just down right rude, especially this older, short gray haired lady that is alwasys the one who takes the order and on this day i gave her a coupon that took me 10 minutes to get the discount and then she charged me for my granddaughter who is only 3 and i told her that, it took three tries to finally get our bill right, she does this every time we go to eat there. i have never been trated the way she treats my family, she should never be allowed to be the person who greets the customer, never a smile or any kindness from this woman. Me and my children will never go back to this restraunt, i am also in the restraunt business and the manager would have to know how she greets her customer....................... VERY DISATISFIED actually i have heard from mnay others of the rude service they get at this pondersa check : 316

I went to a Ponderosa Steakhouse in Johnson City, NY. on Friday August 27, 2010. At the ordering register where one pays, the pictures showed great looking steaks. We ordered 2 rib eye steak dinners. When the plates arrived the "so-called" rib eye steaks were SMALL, THIN AND TOUGH and in no way resembled a real rib eye steak. They were horrible. The only good part of the meal was the baked potato and rolls. I shall never darken the door of a Ponderosa Steakhouse again. The server was a very good waitress.

Warren Michigan on Dequindre Ponderosa as the worst service and needs a cook

I went to the Ponderosa in Johnstown Pennsylvania on 7/20/2010. I wouldn't even rate them with one star. My husband and I decided to go there for steak and buffet. When I got my salad and sat down to eat I took one bite and there in the lettuce was a meal worm. We told the waitress and she then spoke with the manager on duty. He came over and appologized for the problem. He said this happens everywhere infact it just happened to him and his wife the weekend before (yea right). He refunded us for the salad bar ONLY. I feel we should have been refunded for the whole meal. Not only that but they acted as though nothing happedned. They never even removed the lettuce from the salad bar and continued letting other customers eat?????? I will never eat at another Ponderosa again. Sincerly, Georgia Hostetler jgcgh@yahoo.com

I went to the Ponderosa in South Attleboro in Massachusetts. I was very disappointed in the food selection and quality. I believe I was grossly overcharged for 2 large strawberry lemonades. $6.78 plus tax for 2. Really???? Wow. That is way more than any restaurant I've ever been to. The food quality was so poor we left there hungry. I live in Rhode Island and there are none here. So we went to Massachusetts to eat there. No wonder there's no Ponderosas in RI. I'm so disappointed and I felt robbed. When you leave hungry, dissatisfied, and felt taken advantaged of, that is not a good feeling. We will never come back and we tell all of friends and family not to go there. I would like corporate to contact me to further discuss this matter. I hope this helps who are considering going there. We live in Goshen Indiana and used to go to Ponderosa on Friday nights for their seafood night. On our latest trip we were extrememly disappointed. The main reason we chose ponderosa instead of an all you can eat fish place was for the clam strips. We were planning to go tonight and I called to find out if they had them. I was told it was a corprate decision to remove them from the menu. Sadly, we will no longer be going to Ponderosa. Please reconsider. Sincerly, Kimberly Hostetler Rkhos@aol.com
