brake repair

went to meineke for front brakes, had the job done cost was a little high but acceptable. while waiting i was told the rear brakes were totally shot and needed a lot of work. the estimate was $766.00. i declined the work and went to another auto service center that i normally used and had the same work done for $267.00. you do the math, but needless to say i will never use meineke again. reading all of the above reviews shows almost everybody has problems with meineke, isn't about tlme the corporate office speaks with thier francise owners?

Incompetent Office Mgr

I took my car in on 03/02/13 to have the oil changed and have a bulb installed because my turn signal was not working properly. They changed the oil but did not install the bulb because they said it did not need to be replaced.Today 03/09/13 I am back at Meineke to have the bulb installed and the office manager asked me if I was upset about it,he then proceeded to snatch my key from my hand and told my friend that I had a bad attitude.Well incompetence and ineptness tends to make a persons' attitude bad especially when I have to waste time returning to have work done that should have been completed during the initial visit. This person will be the reason that I think twice before returning to Meineke for any reason.

Incompetant Catalytic Converter Installation

I had my car's catalytic converters replaced at the Peoria, AZ Meineke on 83rd Ave. It was the worst experience I have ever had with auto repairs. It took three times to fix the problems. They first of all installed the wrong catalytic converters as the car's computer check engine light would not go off and the computer rejected the converter. They replaced the converters and the oxygen sensors with the incorrect sensors. It took three trips to their shop with five days in the shop and no rental car for their mistakes and incompentancies. NEVER USE MEINEKE, EVER.

Worst car care center ever. Ive had my vehicle to Meineke 3 times and the original complaint has not even been check on yet. They replaced an oil sending unit and forgot to fill transmission fluid back up and about blew my transmission Ive asked 3 times to check my rotors and you would think while my tires were being rotated they would of done so. Asked 3 seperate times for them to check front struts. A technician had to come to my work and then call a mechanic shop in my town to buy transmission fluid to put back in it. I called to complain and was told that

Worst service ever

I brought my car in, and they gave me a laundry list of things that neesed to be fixed. Not only did I get told I couldn't have my brakes fixed unless I got everything else fixed (which is false) but then they gave my car back in worse running condition. I brought my car back in immediately and calmly explained what was wrong, and that I wanted it fixed, and the male manager (I can't remember his name, but he was balding, had a goatee, and heavier set) screamed and yelled at me. It was to the point that everyone else was horrified to be there, including the receptionist! He lied to me saying there was no headquarter number to call about my experience and told me to leave his business. Sadly, that man is probably still employeed mistreating more customers, but I have made sure many people know about my terrible experience. And the time before, I lost oil because they didn't tighten the nut for the oil pan completely, so I lost oil. If I didn't catch the "leak" it could have been bad. The location was on Wisconsin Avenue, Appleton, WI. They tried giving my roommate a laundry list if problems, but she left before they could yell because she heard about my problem. She said they started getting upset though when she said no, I don't want that fixed today. Meineke is unprofessional, the workers scam you, and you get ripped off. NEVER go to Meineke! 1 star because I HAVE to give it as the lowest rating.

customer

My experence was horrible, call and my car was completed with repairing the right rear ball joint. after arriving and paying the company for their service, I went to my car to drive way, when I notice that my sterio system had been taken. the location is in tucson az 3661 e speedway blvd. spoke with manager neil but he told us that there was nothing that could be done. would not release information for the corp to make a complain.rate very poor service.

Did not get tire rotation or air check as requested

I went to the Meineke location in the Denbigh area of Newport News for an oil change and filter. Tire rotation and air check was included if needed. I knew my tires needed rotation and I requested it from the service writer, as well as a check of the air in my tires. When I received my car the price was $2.00 higher than that advertised and I soon discovered that my tires had not been rotated nor an air check performed. Unsatisfactory!!

crooks

went in for a clutch flywheel replacement . there wasnt a thing else wrong with my car when i dropped it off. i got the car back a day and a half later on a 4 5 hour job which i could deal with as long as it didnt reflect on the quote they gave me . which it did some but wasnt extremely bad i could live with it. but when i get the car back after just a few min driving i notice my check engine lights on. sobi get it diagnosed and my o2 sensor knock sensor and valve timing are all throwing codes now. i take it back to menieke and tell them the situation and they lie to my face and tell me the light was on when they got it.i pay close attention to my vehicle and would of noticed the light. another mechanic had seen the car the day before i dropped it off and vouched that the light wasnt on

Destruction of property

brought my car into a meineke on rahway ave in Elizabeth NJ to have the clamps on my performance exhaust tightened. They told me the clamps weren't holding & recommended I have it welded. They welded it very poorly & it leaked badly. I brought the car back twice for them to fix the problem & eventually they slapped some muffler cement over the leaky welds and my now butchered exhaust and said there was nothing else they could do and told me to leave. It cost me almost $2000 to replace the butchered exhaust. Customer relations at the corporate headquarters ignored most of my attempts to contact them & claim to have never gotten any of the dozens of emails I sent. I finally contacted the owner directly & he was extremely belligerent & told me he wasn't paying for anything and hung up the phone on me.

Ripping off old ladies

My 87 year old mother took her car in for an oil change, and came out with a bill for over $400. The charged her $30 EACH to put in a batter and two belts that I'm not sure she even needed. The regional manager who was at the counter wore a simpering smirk while I complained that they took advantage of an old lady, and just kept repeating "the car needed it" over and over, and was very proud of the free 14-pont courtesy check that they used to drum up additional work to do on her car. I'm just sorry there were no customers in the waiting area when I went there, probably why he needed to rip off an old lady, they were having a slow service day.

RUDE LITTLE PUNK!!!!!

Statesville N.C. I had to wait over 2 hours for a simple oil change and a brake fluid flush. They told me my truck was ready so I waited outside for them to bring it out. The rudest little punk demanded my paperwork before he would give me my keys. When I took the paperwork from my pocket he didn,t look at the paperwork-just handed me the keys and walked away. I can and will get my oil changed elsewhere in the future. There's nothing special about Meineke

I was on my way to work in Kenwood Ohio off Montgomery road when the power steering in the car suddenly went won key, so we took it up the street to mieneke. We weren't sure what was wrong but they supposedly fixed it by putting a harmonic balancer which we payed 500$ for, money we don't have. Driving it home I noticed that it severely lacking power thus making it dangerous to merge onto the highway and go up hills. I took it back and the mechanic suggested we replace the spark plugs (which are new) we took his word for it and two blocks from my home at an auto zone we checked the plugs and then the car died. We did everything we could to start Nd ended up paying 100 more to have it towed. They put a distributer on it for 300$ more and it was running OK but still lagging dangerously until today when the engine died. It just. Died while I was driving foot on the gas and everything. I am furious. This is the only car we have and my only way to work I'm too far to take the bus. This is so in necessary I have to get the car towed again and now more parts of my car are broken because they put the distributer on wrong with out an important part (I know because I consulted another mechanic.) After reading all these stories isnr there some way we can get justice from mieneke! We should band together and sue. I won't rest untill I get a refund.

Dont listen to them!! I will never ever ever go there again, and I will never recommend anyone to go there. It is horrible!

Check engine light can be cauesd by many things. Year & Model of your car is important to know to help diagnose. Generally if you take it to an Audi or VW dealer they can hook it up to the diagnostic port and tell you what might be wrong. An Autozone employee is just going to try to sell you parts.

I WAS RIPPED OFF BY THIS LOCATION: Meineke of Queens Village ( 77 ) 207-02 Jamaica Avenue Queens Village NY 11428-1545 (347) 395-0384 10/01/2012> I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD BY DAVIS THAT I NEED ROTOR & BRAKES WHICH WOULD COST ME $325.00.I THEN REMINDED HIM THAT IN JANUARY2012 I WAS THERE FOR INSPECTION WHEN HE TOLD ME I NEEDE NEW BRAKES ETC WHICH I TOLD HIM TO DO.HE THEN REPLIED THAT HE CANNOT REMEMBER.I WAS VERY SURPRISED AND ANGRY AT THIS .HOW CAN HE SAY SUCH A THING.AND IT SEEMD TO ME THESE PEOPLE ARE RIPPING US OFF ,THEY ARE DISHONEST .I WISH THE MEINELE CORPORATE CAN HAVE "MYSTERY SHOPPERS" GOING THERE TO SEE HOW THEY ARE RUINING THE GOOD NAME ON MEINEKE.I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE MY VEHICLE FIXED PROPPERLY

Meineke on Colonoail Road, Harrisburg, PA In the past 20 years of bringing our vehicles to this place we have never seen a crew with such incompetence. We took one of our cars in for a noise thought to be a wheel cylinder. They told us 1500 dollars later the problem was fixed. A day later we called back telling them the noise is still there. My husband said for 1500 dollars he was bringing it back and wanted them fix it right. Three days later they are telling us we need a new transmission, costing an additional 1100-2000, depending on whether we wanted to buy one from Ebay, as he suggested we do. And as far as the 1500 they already billed us, we were told that the car needed it anyway. REALLY!!!! You people are THIEVES and I will be sure to put the word out to the attorney generals office, local newspaper editorial and Facebook exposing you for doing work that was not yet necessary.

So i took my car to meineke because we were hearing some screaching sound coming from the driver side tire, they told me that i needed a wheel kit(cost:$131) and that nothing else was wrong. with in 20 min of leaving the shop i could STILL hear the same noise. so my father in law, who is not a licensed mechanic took a look at it about 3 weeks later and with in 10 minutes said i think its your wheel bearing. i took it back to meineke who spent 6 HOURS and had 3 mechanics look at it before they came to the conclusion it was the wheel bearing. they fixed it (cost: $271) and then the next day as i was heading from north carolina to michigan (about 3 hrs into the trip) the noise is back AGAIN but 10x worse than before!!! So i had to rent a car and leave my car at the nearest airport which cost a total of $400!!! i was gone to michigan for 7 days when i got back to town with my car i took it back to meineke the very next day. They admitted that they didnt put it back together very well and thats a piece came loose and that was the noise i was hearing. They tightened it back down at their own expense BUT did not replace the wheel bearing again left the same one in. All the stress i put on it driving it back to the shop and them pressing it in and out twice took some life out of it and they would not ut a new one in it. so now i have a worn down suppose to be new bearing in my car. The guy at the front desk had ordered me a new one but the manager over rode him and said no we arent putting a new one in. The only reason i give them a 2 and not a 1 is because they guy at the front desk was very nice and tried to make it right and they did admit it was their fault BUT they still cost me $800 in repairs and a car rental because of THEIR mistake!!

wENT TO MEINKE IN DELAWARE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR NEEDED OIL PAN GASKET. I WAS GIVEN A QUOTE OF 800 DOLLARS, I TOLD THE GIRL I WOULD CALL MY BROTHER WHO WORKS AT A CAR DEALERSHIP, SHE SEEMED TO BE UPSET AND THEN GAVE ME ANOTHER QUOTE OF 600. LONG STORY SHORT, TOOK CAR ELSEWHERE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT ALL ALL MY OIL PAN GASKET. OK, IF I DIDNT CHECK AROUND I WOULD HAD BEEN OUT OF 800 or 600 DOLLARS. WHEN I CALLED THE STORE BACK, I WAS TOLD TO BRING IN MY CAR AND LET THEM LOOK AT IT. MY QUESTION IS IF YOU COULD NOT SEE THE OIL PAN GASKET AND IT WOULD TAKE ALL DAY TO FIND IT AND FIX IT, HOW COULD YOU KNOW I NEEDED A NEW ONE ADN YOU DIDNT EVEN DO A DIAGNOSTIC

I had work done on my vehicle at Meineke care care here in Englewood Colorado and after a month of them having my vehicle I was told to come get it, that they could not fix it. I then had them tow it to Nisson where I found out Meineke car care took it to them for an original Diognosis. which was about a $1800 fix. When Nisson got the vehicle they could not believe what Meineke had done to my truck. They told me if they were me I should first get a lawler. The total damage ( which I have already paid to Nisson was $7300.00 Meineke told me I needed a IDPM ( which I was quoted $1700. ) They told me when they installed the IDPM box they saw it smoking and disconected it. Then Meineke told me I now needed to replace a wirering harness another $1400. because it was fried. and they showed me that the wires had been cut and burnt. Then some weeks later they told me they could not fix it and I needed to get it out of there shop. This is what the poster child CHRIS said. I then had them tow it down the street to Nisson. thats where I found out that Meineke had taken it for there original Diognoses. The same mechanic worked on it for me that quoted Meineke. His Diog to Meineke was a simple Nats system failure ( Nisson anti theift system ) which cost $150 to $300. to rekey. and they told me Had I taken it direct to them thats what I would have paid. But they told Meineke that because THEY ( meineke ) had cut my wirering harness, then that also would need replacing. they cut it because they tryed to bypass the anti theift system and rewired the wirering harness directly into the fuse box underneith the dash board. Nisson told me they ( Meineke ) told them they cut the wires and showed me the wires that Meinekk had admitted cutting. but Meineke told me they did not. Meineke told me someone had cut the wires in the wirering harness before I brought it to them but Nisson said no because the factory wirering harness was all in tact when they brought it to them with the factory housing and clamps around the harness and the cut harness which Meineke told them they cut but told me they did not, the factory wirering housing that sorrounds the harness was laying throughout the engine and on the floor underneigh the fuse box in the vehicle. I got my car back from Meineke with approximently 100 wires sprallled throughout the engine with burnt wires and cut wires. my dash board was torn apart and wires from the fuse box just dangleing. I ask them at meinekee if this is they way they give there customers back there vehicle. they said should we have put it all back together ? Nisson will charge me less they said if they see the problem. I have a report from Nisson stating the way they received the vehicle when Meinekee brought it to them originally with the Nats system failure. and then the way they received it from me and the new Diognosis. They ( Nisson ) know they ( Mieneke ) fried my care because first of all other than them telling them they cut the wires and they have a special $5000 tool to rekey the Nats system ( Nisson Anti Thieft System ) And when they receive a veicle for Diognosis the first thing they do is they roll down the windows and disconect the battery so they are able to leave the keys in the car. And thats what they did when Meineke brought it to them. But when I brought it to them after Meineke told me they could not fix it. Nisson attempeted to roll down the windows and when attempting to roll the drivers window down they window wsher fluid srayed all over the place. then attempting to roll the pax window down the window wipers went off instead. Meineke in the attempt to bypass the anti theif system Did this to my car by cutting the wires in the wirering harness bypassing the IDPM bos and going directly to the fuse box and rerouting the wires which over-loaded the system and fried my car. I have on tape Two people at nisson stating in there profession opinion Yes Meineke did this to my vehicle. They told Mieneke they could not rekey the anti thrift system becasue it was Nisson Specific and only Nisson could do it. Meineke told them they could because that they had a special tool A $5000 tool that could do it and it seems that there special tool was to rewire they wirering harness and bypass the IPDM box and go directly into the fuse box and then wire the wires from the fuse box to there approprait places. overloading the system . Meineke told me while attempting to conect the new IDPM they saw smoke coming out and disconnected it. That in my opinion was not the IDMP smoking it was my wirering harneses. All the wirering harnesses needed replacing in my vehicle. Even them Can wires wire was cut. Nisson could not believe it. the Can wire goes to everyting. the Transmission, the fuel injection. < why the cut that wire Nisson does not know. I have 40 minutes of Video from Nisson that they did not know I was filming. and them telling me what Meineke did to my truck. How the tech quite his last job becasue it was a company doing to there customers what Meineke was doing to me. You should see this Video it tells the whole store. I was told by Nisson tech they could not right down on my stament, he said, she said because it was against Nisson rules. But I had my Video running and got approximently 40 minutes of video of the tech telling me and showing me how Meineke did this to my truck. even the service writter who was there when Mieneke brought the car to them and then was there when I brought it also stated on video that in his professional opinon Meineke fried my vehicle. I need help and can explain better in person or over the phone than I can in this letter. Please help me. I used all my savings and got a $3000 loan to cover the cost. If you cannot help me maybe you can let me know

Don't waste your time, money, or gas going to these people. They have an F with the Better Business Bureau.Don't even go there for a small job. Take it to a local established mechanic, not this national chain. Their customer service department is rude and trained to dismiss your claim.
