I have been going to Friendlys for years and my children have always enjoyed it. For the last 6 months I have been trying to give Friendlys a chance to CLEAN UP there act. Every time we go there is food and trash all over the floor. I have told the people at the front and wait staff, that when people come in they dont want to eat in dirt. We just get a look like we are crazy. I have herd from other tables the same problem. The floors are never vacuumed. It leaves a bad tast in your mouth when you sit in dirt and trash . Please make the Friendlys in Sinking Spring of Pa CLEAN UP there act. Gross is my only word for this place.

Have been a customer for many years going to the Friendly's in Northfield NJ on Tilton rd.now they are under new management and things are terrible the servers are all hating there jobs.I can not believe when something is not broken and the store is doing so well new people come in and screw it all up.The sever I had I have dealt with for years and is one of the best employee's they could have but when they start telling customers how bad things are and the things being taken away and what is expected of them for what little wage they get I feel it's time for me and my family to find a new place to eat. they say things will not change but I can see the writting on the wall and how unhappy the employee's are and of course just like a big chain I will not hear a word from them on this matter.

I have been going to your Friendly's restaurant in Medford, NY for many, many years. I have to say my all-time favorite waitress is: Miss Eileen. I don't know her last name though. She is the most helpful, friendliest, cooperative, positve person who serves me and my family. We only deal with her when we go. She makes our experience so friendly! We absolutely adore her and I always recommend her to my friends and they also like her. Other servers need to take lessons from her. She is a real people pleasant go-getter person! I hope she works there for many more years! Thank You for hiring her! Respectfully, M. Ramos

My husband and I went to the Norwood,Ma, restuarant. We waited about fifteen minutes to get a seat. It was unbelievable busy. When we sat down the waitress came right away. We got chicken strips. They where over cooked so bad we couldn't eat them. I felt really bad for the help. You closed so many restuarant that the few left in this area are definitely too busy. We used to go to the Friendly's a least twice a month but I can't stand watching how hard they work now and the food isn't very good anymore.

we had a wonderful experience at your Friendly's in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
our waitress #279 Darnise was just so nice and bubbly, and made our visit special keep up the good work

I just left the friendlys in Amesbury first it took 10 minutes to be seated when half of the staff was standing around talking two people behind us waiting also walked out and yelled out burger king has better service then this! We finally get seated the table was sticky and the booth SMELLED LIKE URINE! Trash all over the floors half of the tables were filthy as the employees were doing nothing but talking and not doing a thing about it. We ordered our ice cream then the waitress comes back attitude and all (her name was Julie) and tells us she don't know how to make what we wanted and that she wanted to know what we wanted and how it was made because the computer didn't explain it thoroughly! She gives us our check and we put a credit card in it at the end of the table and waited 15 minutes no lie to see if she was going to come back and take it and guess what she never returned we went to the front to pay and the reciept that had the talk to friendlys information mysteriously disapeared and all I got back was my credit card reciepts I left her $1.64 for a tip on a $13.00 order and she grunted at me oh well shouldve done your job! To top it off my husband liked the water he had better then the ice cream. When we left the same tables were still not cleaned off and I even have pics to prove it.. Disgusting I would rather go two towns away then ever go back to that place....

I was just in the friendlys in west. Babylon new York and I had the worst experience I ordered. The crispy. Chicken salad like I always do well this time when I ordered. It I knew something was wrong not only was it a lot smaller then usual the lettuce. Was all rotten and brown after moving around the lettuce I found a dead ant on the bottom of my dish I was so discussed. I could not eat anything after that so I paid the bill and left I warn everyone do not go in the friendlys Ever I took pictures if the salad and the bug but for some reason I cannot upload. after reading some of the reviews above my comments will have no or little value .... i had the occasion to visit your mystic, ct location this past wed evening ..... my first and only thought was "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE CORPORATE OFFICE" ... i really do feel sad for your staff who are obviously working with liuttle or no structure, guidance, example or leadership from above (corporate).... i hope you are not paying your top executives for their leadership acumen .... it's no wonder that friendly's is in free fall and probably will not be probably be non-existent in the near future .... sad, sad, sad that's all i can say .... i guess i should mention what i experienced and i will just share two observations .... first, a manager that had his trousers (although not showing any of his back side) just barley being up rather than down (he did have a serious weight problem that required him to constantly hike his trousers up)second, a staff that was terribly over their head with the volume (kids night which we were unaware of when we stopped for ice cream for our grand-sons)of business they were trying to serve (consequently a very long wait for service and ice cream to arrive)above all, as a retired food service owner, i think top managment should be ashamed ...

Great Resturant Pittsfield # 870.
Last evening my husband and I went to the Pittsfield, MA #870 resturant. We were seated and our waitress was #515364 Tiffany. She was so polite and carring. We recieved great service from her and our meal was on time and excelent. I noted that the Manager was greeting every table to make sure all were pleased and comfortable. I have not seen this before at Friendlys. It was a nice change and when Ryan came to our table we expressed to him how important this is to the customer. Not only having Tiffny making sure that the meal and everything was good but also the Manager. My son ran a 5 star hotel and all must be service concious and friendly. Our hats off to the Pittsfield chain and this sould be the used as a model example for all your traing for excellence. We even took the time to thank the cooks for our meal was excellent. Great job Ryan,Tiffany and the rest of the Pittsfield crew...Job well done! Five stars to them. We will definatly be back!!

The decline in customer service at Friendly's restaurant is shocking. At the Springfield location on Sumner, we waited almost 15 minutes at the greeting area in the lobby without anyone talking to us. Waiters walked about without making eye contact. We finally had to walk over to someone and ask if it's possible to be seated somewhere. We were told everyone was busy and that someone would come when they could. We waited awhile longer and then ended up leaving.

In this poor economy, I would think that every customer should be valued, but that doesn't seem to be the case at Friendly's. Friendly's is not friendly anymore. In light of their poor serve I think it only makes sense that more locations will close, and eventually there will no longer be a Friendly's restaurant. It's not the poor economy, it's the lack of service. I was there to spend my money, but Friendly's wouldn't take it, so I left. I won't be back.

What is with this General Manager at Friendly's in Turnersville,NJ. My family and I sat in far back against the wall and over heard this woman yelling how the employees at this friendly's were scum and trash. She also blurted out that she can a gun and will if she has too. This a general Manager of a restuarant. We heard that she is pushing the turnersville employees out so she can bring her people from the one that closed. Also she is telling the customers that this friendly's( in turnersville,nj) is going to close.

tHIS IS IN RESPONSE TO YOUR CLOSING THE FRIENDLY'S RESTAURANT IN HANOVER. BIG , BIG MISTAKE! APPARENTLY YOUR COMPANY, LIKE SO MANY TODAY, DOES NOT CARE ONE BIT ABOUT CUSTOMERS. I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT I HAVE TRAVELED IN ALL FIFTY STATES AS WELL AS OUT OF THE COUNTRY, AND HAVE NEVER FOUND A BETTER FRIENDLY'S RESTAURANT. SUCH A SHAME FOR OUR COMMUNITY. DID YOU KNOW, OR EVEN CARE THAT FRIENDLY'S WAS THE ONLY PLACE IN OUR TOWN OF OVER 20,000 THAT ONE COULD SIT DOWN AND ENJOY VARIOUS TREATS?
I SUGGEST THAT IF YOUR PROBLEM WAS WITH THE MALL, AS SO MANY STORES ARE HAVING THAT PROBLEM, THAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER BUILDING A FREE STANDING RESTAURANT.A NEW MALL HAS RECENTLY OPENED AND I CAN GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD DO WELL. YOU CAN NOT IMAGINE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT ARE DISAPPOINTED! IF YOU WOULD CONSIDER DOING SO, BE SURE TO HIRE BACK ALL THE TERRIFIC STAFF THAT YOU HAD.I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT 2 OF THE EMPLOYEES WERE THERE SINCE DAY ONE. AGAIN, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU NOT ONLY FOR CLOSING BUT THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU NOTIFIED YOUR FAITHFUL EMPLOYEES!

I am a former Friendly's server... being a server at Friendly's was undoubtedly one of the worst experiences of my life, which is why I quit after only a month. This was my first serving job and only after one day of training (watching the dumb videos, etc) they put me on the floor on my own (which is against their company policy). Needless to say, I did not do too well, which is expected of a first day server. I did get better, but i have to admit that the guests I experienced were AWFUL! I was cursed out in front of an inspector over toast by one elderly woman, and many guests got angry at me for their bill being high. Friendly's is expensive! Many families come looking for deals and are astonished by their bills at the end of the meal and I seemed to always be on the receiving end. I also had one manager who was awful, always running around flustered for no reason and made doing my job so much harder. And yes, I also witnessed many health code violations. This job left me at the edge of tears every night from the stress. The nice manager asked me not to quit and told me I was doing very well, better than most starters and better than the others who started with me. After this experience, I will never serve again.

The Friendly's restaurant in Hanover, PA has always been a pleasant and enjoyable place to eat. You idiots closed it on January 9. Even more dispicable, you didn't notify the employees (not to mention customers) that you were doing so. Some employees reported for work Monday morning to find a locked entrance. What is wrong with you people? This restaurant was almost always crowded with customers. The staff was excellent. I have frequented Friendly's restaurants in several states, and the one in Hanover, PA was the best by far.
I and my associates will never enter another Friendly's restaurant and I'll make sure the word gets out. You don't deserve to be in business.

my experience at friendlys was horrible.when we got there we were greeted by a wonderful young colored man,he was a waiter.we got our meal and i began eating it when my 14 year old grandson found a long strand of blond hair in his appetizer.at that point i was gross out.i tried to eat but i was wondering else was in the food.then i notice my grandson looking down on the rug,i said whats wrong,at first he wouldnt say because he said i wouldnt eat i demanded to know.he said see the color waiter over there he had his finger up his nose.that was it i couldnt stomach anymore.then my 7 yr old grandaughter turn around to see where our waitress was,she wanted ice cream, she turns back and said there he goes again picking his nose.they made right my grandsons appetizer and they were all wonderful people but their hygiene sucks.needless to say my 10.00 dollar turkey dinner was never finished.friendlys i heard is going bankrupt because of stuff like this not because of the food.the bathrooms i wont go there.im not going there any longer.itwas jan 5 1912 4:58 resaurant7447.im out of a 10.00 turky dinner i couldnt eat and a pleasureable evening with my grandkids,it was repulsive.

Unfriendly Experience By Laura Hunt 1/3/12
This Brunswick, Maine location was overall a pretty unfriendly experience for someone who grew up in Massachusetts as a frequent Friendly's customer! We expected a longer than usual wait time since it was very packed on New Years Day. My family of three settled for a small side table so we would not have to wait in line for the one hour trip home. But, an hour wait for a sandwich meal which turned into a two hour ordeal bordered on the ridiculous. The food wasn't that bad if you like stale bread and old apples. The additional half hour wait for our check and to-go Sundae's bag tested our patience still leaving behind a generous tip for all the apologies carried out by three waitresses. I didn't understand what this meant until I got out to my car with our main waitress ho offered to help carry one of the bags. Two police cars closed in on me treating me like a criminal asking me if I had been drinking. I as shocked as this was a family restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol that the staff would report a patron with a bad head cold to police. After being given many grueling tests I as cleared of a any alcohol of course or any wrong doing. the police officer was empathetic at the end of the thirty minute ritual when he gave me a tip that the cough drop I had was mistaken for alcoholic smell. I was able to go back and retrieve the cough drop bag as evidence after this outrageously embarrassing incident. The nice manager remembered meeting me on her way out that evening when I phoned the next day. She was very apologetic and shocked, revealing how unaware of what took place after she left. At this point I was dissolved to tears in describing the three waitresses who my twelve year old witnessed whispering about their plans behind the counter. She offered me a full refund and promised to discipline her staff. I still am left with the trauma in memories and helping my traumatized children and myself learn to cope.

My wife and I often go to the Friendly's in New Milford Conn. The wait staff have to do all the chores which causes problems giving, getting your order and getting someone when you need the help. The other day our food was very, very late coming in (35 minutes) and people who came in long after we did got their orders. Nobody, not the waitress nor the management bothered to address us in any way. This isn't the first time either. I admit, I was annoyed but said nothing but when others got their food in front of us the last time our waitress told us there was a computer problem. Really? Now if there was a computer problem why are all the others getting their food? Why didn't the manager have the courtesy to address us? After the meal, the waitress simply slapped (and she did slap) the bill on our table obviously upset that I had my attitude (while I said nothing). We will no longer go there as that is the only thing we can do. A similar problem had arose a week before at a Chicago Uno restaurant and the manager came out, apologized and our meal was on the house. Needless to say, Chicago Uno has my business and Friendly's does not.

I recently went to friendly's in chelmsford mass, about last week and was very appalled when i noticed a female manager yelling and being disrespectful to my server Melissa. I then noticed she had got really upset and another server was laughing at her!!! I can't believe my eyes and ears of how rude the manager was!!! Why? A Manager is supposed to be the leadership type, helpful, and around to talk to if others are like this. She should NOT be a manager or get fired. VERY Unprofessional!! Early today I went back and was hoping to see Melissa, since she told me she usually works Friday evening/nights. But when I had asked for her the server said she got fired about 3 or 4 days after the rude manager yelled at her!! Why? I don't know. All I can say is probably from something stupid. Melissa was a very sweet girl, very helpful, always trying to make customers happy and was pleasantly go with kids. She is missed by myself. I don't think I would want to go back there again after my experience!

I went to the Friendly's in Windsor Locks, Ct today and ordered a hot fudge sundae to go. I was waited on right away and the girl at the counter was pleasant enough when she took my order. She asked how many scoops I wanted, and i said 3 scoops. Little did I know that the 'scoops' are the size of melon balls at best. I paid $5 for a hot fudge sundae with very little ice cream in it. (It didn't look ANYTHING like the delicious picture they have above the menu board with the sundae glass overflowing with ice cream and toppings!) I could buy a whole gallon of ice cream for less than $5. I know Friendly's is in financial trouble but trying to save money by gypping the customer is not a good business practice. I won't be going back there soon.

I realize people are quick to complain but you generally don't hear much about the GOOD things. Just wanted to express our disappointment with the recent closing of many Friendly locations, namely the East Street - Chicopee location. We frequented many but this restaurant was closest to our residence and had the best and "friendly" service. Our special commendations go to Emily, Amanda and Maurice who will sorely be missed. I'm hoping that these couteous and friendly servers were placed at another location.
Friendlys has always been traditional..as we grew up. When Hershey bought them in 2007, they closed many convenient locations so we were forced to travel a bit farther, but that we DID and will continue to do so, until the end. I fondly recall our weekly visits to the Springfield Plaza or Armory St, Chestnut Street in Springfield. They had the best burgers, fries and milkshakes and oh yes Fribble was fantastic. My buddies and I always managed a Jim Dandy on Saturdays. Today my children luv Friendlys also and of course with costs, we use coupons when we can.

Gettysburg Pa =I will never again go to gettysburg friendlys. As we were sitting ate our table with our children you could hear the manager yelling at employees, not helping them but telling them they were stupid! Our food took awhile and as we were waiting more yelling from the back. We got a quick glance at the yeller as she just walked past our table on her way to the back. Another Manager walked in with blonde hair( the restaurant was pretty busy). Soon after she arrived ( about 15 min) we were leaving and as we were paying I noticed she was eating a meal against the wall by the register. It is a shame that she was more concerened about her meal then her customers. Oh yea I forgot to mention the young waitress serving us looked like she was crying. I told her not to worry about it and that we would wait. she seemed to have way to many tables and with two managers there why did they not come out to help? I did ask her the name of her bosses and one was Katie and the other was kara.

Used to be Good Customer 10/6/11
Friendly's,
So sorry to hear about your many closing restaurants. First found Friendly's when as a kid my friend's mom would take us there for Fribbles (at least that's what I always wanted). I think Lyndon Johnson was President. Through the years it was a reliable mainstay -- a place to go to get good food, great service. You never had to be embarrassed suggesting Friendly's as a place to meet a friend, or for a more casual business meeting. Then the antismoking thing happened. Sorry folks, but you're just never going to change me. I like my smokes when I go out to eat and that's that. Don't cite the law because I happen to know who pushed for that to happen. Too bad. Where are all the nonsmokers? Sure, they crowd the two hotspots in every town but the Moms and Pops and Friendly's type places go kaput. Then they say that's just "the economy." Hello... this is one of the causes of "the economy." In Nevada they have already repealed restaurant bans because business lost business. In Michigan failure of the legislature to repeal such a law has resulted in restaurateurs getting together to ban serving legislators! You can all think this is all wonderful, but it ain't. Don't tell me about the two self-hating smokers who say they just LOVE being abused. If you lose just half your smokers, that's ten per cent of your business right there. That's assuming smokers are only on par with everbody else in their restaurant usage. I don't think so. It seems to me when things were normal my non-smoking friends were always on my case for spending too much money "wasting" it they called it on going to restaurants all the time, but that's what smokers do -- used to do anyway. You can hide behind the law all you want; but tell me, now, how does it feel? I should be jumping up and down laughing ROFLMAO at YOU, but I remember when I was little and my friend's mom used to take us to Friendly's...

Claire 10/7/11
In response to the article: "Friendly's restaurants file for bankruptcy" which appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday, October 6th. This company appears to place the blame for their failure on the poor economy ("consumers continue to eat out less"). I wonder why? For many years, Friendly's was the restaurant of choice for my grandchildren (and often my husband and I). In the past few years the service and the quality of the food has declined to an atrocious level. Two recent examples:
1. Lunch with my 4 year old grandson - we waited 10 minutes before anyone even
acknowledged that we were there and then another 40 minutes before our food
arrived, way too long to expect a child to sit quietly in a booth. We had both
ordered plain burgers and fries. One order came with bacon. And believe me, the
burgers were no great shakes.
2. Lunch with my 7 year old granddaughter - again, a long wait for a menu and
another (at least) 30 minute wait. We finally left (without eating) because she
would have missed her soccer game otherwise.
I have been reading about some of the experiences others have had at Friendly's. Perhaps instead of blaming the economy, they might want to look at their own practices and correct them first. We will continue to eat out but we have taken Friendly's off our list.

My wife and I had breakfast this morning at your Latham, New York store. What a poor experience! We asked to have our food well done i.e. bacon, toast etc. I came out barely cooked. Hot cakes also barely cooked. When we questioned the manager she informed us that that was the way they cooked at her restaurant and that they would have to put the toast through twice or to have the grill hotter for the hot cakes. She said we could have our money back if we wanted. Thats not what we wanted. We wanted our breakfast cooked the way we asked I was almost embarrasssed for the restaurant. She was making excuses for the cook You've lost not only me and my family as costumers. but everyone else I speak with.

unhappy customer 8/13/11

No sprinkles, no cherries, bitten cherry, waitress said "Well, I didn't make it." Manager said "Couldn't happen at my store". Pattern of wrong orders, missing ingredients, sundaes without ice cream, poor service, too expensive. Service getting worse. 15 year customer not likely to go back. store 0073, springfield, Ma

Julie 8/14/11
hi my name is julie and i am an employee at the friendly's in ithaca, new york.
this is just a question about what are the policies for termination. I have been working here four almost six months and it was going great till my hrs were cut incredibly short. forcing me to look for a second job. which i found one. when i told the manager when i got it she had such a nasty attitude about it. since i got my new job she hasn't been able to put me on the schedule. when i called today word of mouth from another manager he said that he thinks that i was terminated. i told him to have the other manager call me tomorrow. he said he will. but i had spoke to my hiring manager last week and she did tell me that she is unable to schedule me around my other job and she doesn't think she'll be able to in the future. she said she might have to term me. plus she told me because i am getting health insurance through them and havent paid the premium in almost three weeks was another reason she said would be grounds for termination. can she do this can she fire me on the terms of me getting another job and not being able to pay my health premium.

Lisa LaRose 9/21/11
I have a question.... Why do the 1/2 gallons of icecream you buy in the grocery stores NOT have a seal around the container. You litterly open the container and there is the icecream. With all the wackos in the world, why isnt the icecream sealed some way before you open it so you know no one tampered with it?

Unsatisfied customer 8/15/11
After filing a complaint to the corporate office regarding my buying shakes almost on a daily basis at Friendlys...and finding bits of paper towel in the shake.
I called the store and spoke directly to the manager and told him how disgusted that I felt and his response was "what would you like me to do about this".
My husband would get take out icecream from that particular store and while waiting watch the food being prepped for waitress pick up. He told me that one particular young man that works there was not wearing gloves and grabbing what appeared to be salad with his bare hands and placing it on plates ...then popping pieces from the prepared plates into his mouth.
He only told me this after my son and I ate in the restaurant one evening...it was so dirty and the food was greasy and the grilled bread on my sandwich tasted like pickle juice or vinegar , which made me envision cross contamination. We barely ate a thing.....and
I mentioned this to the waitress she said "sorry" and gave us the full bill...
I called corporate and told them what was transpiring in this store...and recieved a letter telling me that they were sorry the restaurant was not up to my cleanliness standards....and sent me a 15 dollar gift card.
I am still laughing. Many people in our area have shared similar experiences with me and have stated that they would never go there again for various reasons first and foremost being cleanliness...
I am sending them their generous 15 dollar gift card right back. I would have considered using it to take out icecream in another restaurant (they sell cartons)
but I think that hearing all that I relayed to them about the state of the restaurant..my time and aggravation...the 15. gift card was an insult.
What a shame because minus the dirt and bits of paper towel they really did make a good milkshake.....still laughing...but going elsewhere.

we went to Friendlys on Farmington Ave Bristol, Ct. At one point we always thought you had to be slow and rude to work at Friendlys because that was the way it was.
About 2 weeks before this last visit I went in with my daughter and we got thr WOW factor/ everyone was soooo nice /we were impressed. So this week 9/3/11 I wanted to show my friend the WOW factor as she was depressed but noooooooo it was back to the old Friendlys . Ignored us for 20 min. before taking our order after I went to the hostess who had seated us and asked if we even had a waitress. Now we get our order taking my a rude uppity waitress/ she should have fell her nose was so far in the air. NO I did not tip her.
I had better service from bks the night before.

The food was ok for a family restaurant. It was Labor Day so I took my 2 kids. We had a waiter he was very attentive and thoughtful(since we have a 1 year old). Our son then started to get fussy so we asked for the check and went to pay for it at the cash registar, the manager on staff at the Lake Worth, Fl. Was extremely rude. Didn't want me to pay at register and told me to sit back in my seat while our son was crying. (As she smelled like cigarettes and alcohol. What kind of Family restaurant is that?!! I will never go back and me and my family feel sorry for the little waiter and the abuse he has to take.

This is what was listed on craigslist for Long Island. I went there a half hour earlier because I was unsure how busy it would be. Well to my surprise it there was no one there and the server told me to have a seat and wait that the district manager will be there shortly. Another person came in about 45 minutes after I did and I overheard her tell the gentlemen that "Darlene" will be here before 5. I said excuse me?? She then said that the store manager knew nothing of the open house! He was behind the line freaking out and yelling at his employees to get the food out of the window. The server took my number to have Darlene call me when she decided to show!! Well I didn't hear from her so I called at 4pm and this Darlene DISTRICT MANAGER would not get on the phone with me and told the server that she was here now and if I want to come down now and she will sit with me. I'm sorry I forgot that I don't have a life or a family that I have to care for!!! If Friendly's was the last job ever..I would never work for such an unprofessional company! You all should be ashamed to call yourself a family restaurant!!! My advise STAY AWAY!!! THIS IS THE CRAIGSLIST LISTING...

Your flounder was delicious but it is no longer on your menu. Please bring it back along with the mixed vegetables and rice.
It was not only delicious but good for you.

I recently bought a case of the Friendly's Mint Cookie ice cream only to later discover that this "family-Friendly product" was anything BUT fit for human consumption. Loaded with HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. I called the comment line on the package; a woman named Leah said "yes our ingredients include HFCS". I then asked her if she knew that this meant Friendly's was contaminated by mercury, which occurs with HFCS?
She very blithely said "Yes we know that." !!! OUTRAGEOUS that a corporation aimed at children would expect any mother to buy this radioactive garbage. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was very unfriendly disconnected.

DO NOT EVER PATRONIZE THIS CHAIN OR PURCHASE ITS TIME BOMB TOXINS for your loved ones and family. Class action law suit by mothers across the USA would be more in order than paying for one's own demise ingesting this scourge.

My wife and I visited your 96 Turnpike Rd Westboro, Ma store last night 7/19/11 to dine and was not pleased with the service or should I say lack of service. The hostess sat us and said our waitress will right with us. After sitting there for several minutes watching the waitress clear multiple tables (8:30PM with guest only at two other tables eating) we never even go a word from her I'll be right with you. As a former employee from years ago didn't the customer come first. Needless to say we left to dine at another location. This is not the first time this has happened to us at this location. I think it's time for under cover boss to visit some of your locations. With the economy the way it is I'm sure you can use the buisness.

In regards to the location in Tannersville, Pa. We went to this location with intentions of eating dinner there with the kids while on vacation. We opted to just get ice cream to take out instead. The dining room was absolutely filthy! Once we were at the ice cream counter, it was even worse. Every trash can in sight was overflowing. Garbage was all over the floor! If you are going to have an open kitchen or area that the public can watch you prep their food, for goodness sake, make that your number one priority as a manager. The best part was when the "manager" came out from the back and scolded the only girl working the counter and told her to change the trash and walked away instead of helping. Managing is hands on. This manager clearly did not have a handle on his store. Would I come back here? NEVER

Mandy Wright 7/22/11
My fiancé and I bought a container of ice cream from friendlys last week. My fiancé was eating the ice cream out of the container when he began to chew on something hard which he assumed was just a piece of ice. He bit down and it cut his gum! He pulled the piece out only to find that it was not ice but a little screw! We have called several numbers and tried to contact friendlys corporation but we either get no answers or busy tones. We will definately be taking this to the news, court and anyone else who will listen. It's outrageous, he could have been hurt worse than he was!

I recently visited the friendlys rest. in seekonk ma and had the best experience ever! our server Michelle was the most attentive, friendly most out-going server we have ever had at any restaurant. the food was good as it usually is, but the service by Michelle will keep us coming back again and again! I wish the best for her and thinks she deserves a raise thank you Friendlys for hiring a real gem.

I ate at Friendly’s Restaurant this evening about 5:00 p.m. I must say how impressed I was with this fine restaurant. I was delighted with its cleanliness and my meal. I enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich and some delicious ice cream. However, I was mostly impressed by the manager (I forgot his name) and a waitress named Shana. They ensured I had the perfect dining experience. I didn’t have to wait one extra minute for anything. I rated this restaurant 5 stars and it definitely deserves it. Should anyone desire to visit this fine establishment the drive is well worth it and you won’t be disappointed. The address is located at 2068 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Horrible.horrible. Does friendlys have an idiot. I dont know how to follow a customers request prerequisite to work there. I go to the friendlys in webster ma. I ordered a recess pices subdae what i got were three golf ball sizes of ice cream and hot fudge. Yes I was charged for the sunda. Not only that the server put it in the bag upside down. I will NEVER return there again. It is just a diappointment evertime. I will take my business elsewhere. Hmm maybe dairy queen. Geez mcdonald makes a better sundae than friendlys

This is the second time I have written a complaint about the Friendly's restaurant in Whitensville Ma. My husband and I visited it again after about 2 months to see if things had improved since I last sent an email to coporate headquarters. At that time I stated that we waited about 15 minutes and were not even acknowledged as being present let alone being seated. As we had 3 times before we left with out being seated ,as did several others who were also waiting in line. The manager was there cleaning out an ice cream bucket and did not even lookup. Last Thursday evening again about 6pm we encountered the same treatment. When we arrived there were 3 other families waiting to be seated. They also said they had not even been acknowledged and had been there at least 10 minutes. The restaurant was not even 1/2 full and I counted 6 people working there. I asked to speak to the manager who was covering for the regular, her name was Danielle. She was very kind and polite, I addressed the problem with her. I am fed up with this Friendlys and as I stated before I will not return until I hear something has been done to address this problem. Customers have walked out each time I have been there. I await your response. mghodg@charter.net

Last week, we went again and WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT----"Sorry, we have no bananas today"
Do we have to call before we go again to ask "D O YOU HAVE BANANAS TODAY???"

Family and I were in town for the weekend visiting Buffalo (our home town). The Service at the Friendly's on Transit Rd. is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Does a manager run that restaurant at all? It's the third time I experienced this otherwise I would not have any complaints because I know mistakes happen. Our server was rude to us and unprofessional, she neglected to come back when we asked for Ketchup for our son, never came back to the table! Until we were all finished and she needed to give us the bill. We wont be going back there, I feel sorry for the good people who I am assuming there are a few great waitresses and waiters there.

Gerald P.Galote 5/31/11
We stopped in your store #7581 Ashland, Ohio while visiting family in the area. It took employees five minutes to seat us. Took our order for drinks took 15 minutes for drinks. After we had finished our meal waitress asked if we wanted ice cream. Said yes then she said she would be back in a minute waited twenty minutes and still no show went to counter without bill asked to pay took abo ut another 5 minutes. Service was really bad and don't plan on return visit. Feel that this was a really bad experience. Thanks for listening

I have been visiting the Friendly's Restaurant on Airmont Road in Airmont/Suffern, NY for many years. For the past 2 or 3 years I have noticed a considerable decline in friendliness of staff, efficiency of staff, cleanliness of facility and intelligence of staff. There are two waitresses who have been working there for years and they are outstanding. One waitress is Linda and I cannot remember the name of the other woman. They do everything right and never complain. The current Manager, I think his name is Jean/Gene, is ANYTHING but friendly. He is short-tempered, can't remember a counter order involving more than one step, never smiles and lacks flexibility and strong thinking skills. How can he be a manager??? He is a poor representative of your "Friendly's" corporation. The rest of the staff, except for those two women, are slow moving, slow thinking, and generally disinterested in their jobs and the needs of the customers. The place needs much improvement!!!

Christine Bayless 6/4/11
My husband and I had breakfast this morning at Friendly Ice Cream store in Williamsburg, Virginia. There were approximately three booths of customers in the store at the time. We were greeted by a yell of "Welcome to Friendly's" by a waitress about twenty feet away. When seated we ordered coffee and waited.....and waited.....and waited. Finally another waitress came to take our order and we told her we hadn't gotten our coffee yet ! It took another five minutes for it to appear. I was the only one with silverware, so I shared my spoon with my husband to stir his coffee. Another wait for our food began, with perhaps four booths occupied in the whole store. Well, we waited....again for about 25 minutes before it finally arrived. I had to flag down a waitress to ask for silverware !!!
What is happening in that store ?????? We will never show our presence at another Friendly Ice Cream Shop....and LEAST OF ALL, the one in Williamsburg ! There are too many well serviced restaurants in Willimsburg, Virginia to resort going back to this one !

Tonight I went to the friendlys in wantage nj. The resturant was extremely hot!! The thermostat read 83 degrees!! I was very uncomfortable the entire time I was there. At the end of my visit I asked to speak to a manager, he was very very rude and not helpful at all. He had no explination for the air conditioning not being on and he stormed away in a very angry manner. He would not tell me his name either so I asked a server for his name and the coorporate office number. She gave me his name but said she did not have the phone number I needed. My visit was very unsatisfying and I will NOT return to that resturant ever again! That manager really needs to learn management skills! The only satisfying thing about that resturant was my waitress, who I felt very sorry for! She was sweating from the uncomfortable conditions. Someone needs to check into that place!

anonymous 5/12/11
i service mechanical equipment at friendlys in the ny/nj area and would like to say that the conditions in most of these restaurants are absolutely disgusting. garbage is piled by the back door and most every kithen area smells like a sewer. the employees are kids that have no idea how to run a clean restaurant. the food is left out until it smells and the cooking areas are filthy. dirty grease drips down from the cooking hoods onto the food and the appliances because no one cleans properly. few retaurants are somewhat clean but most are just disgusting. i wouldnt eat at a freindlys if i was starving... i really dont know how they stay in business. just a thought

Rose 4/27/11
I frequently eat at both the oswego, ny and clay, ny locations by me and I have to say, I have not encountered any of the problems mentioned on this board. The servers are always friendly and always dote on my 3 year old. The food is delicious and there are always specials. Honestly, you need to cut these people some slack. Sometimes they are understaffed but they do the best they can.

May 4, 2011 Just very disgusted with the so called general manager by name of Dennis E. Anderson at Blackwood Nj friendly's. My wife and two other parties decided to go friendly's for dinner and ice cream since we all had coupons. When seated, we let our waitress know that we wanted three separate bills. We had no problem with the dinner but had a problem with the ice cream. We all order 5 scoop sundaes. When the ice cream arrived they were more like 3 scoops in them. So when it came time to pay, the waitress said,"the manager has to make the adjustment for the coupons." The manager or so called General Manager was very unprofessional on addressing the parties about using a coupon. First the manager accused us of trying to pull a fast one with making three separate checks with using the coupons, which i find rude and disrespectful to say towards paying customers. The manager showed me on the coupon where it says per party and that there is nothing he can do. I told him i was not happy cause that should been addressed when we told the waitress that we wanted separate check for each party. Manager continued to go back and forth with the three parties for about five minutes making a scene. The one party called the cops and let the manager know. The manager laughed and said,"I want you to step outside or you will be arrested when the police arrive." At that time, i was so disgusted with how the manager handled problem that i told him i will never be back. The manager told us he did not care and there is nothing he can do. Being owner of my own business i would never find it acceptable for my employees to treat customers so unprofessionally.

I've gotten a laugh out of reading some of the illiterate complaints here. Honestly, I don't know how some people can be so obtuse and petty. It's so obvious that many pf them don't have a legitimate issu; they are just trying to get something for nothing. They need to get a life.

Cause for Concern 4/26/11
My name is Van Lemert and Im a former employee of Friendly's restraunt in Chester VA. Over the course of the my time there {just over a year and a half} I noted an incrediable amount of health violations mostly preformed by the restraunts general manager, Tyrone Montgomery. From re-heating sauces up to 15 hours old, to handling customers food without glove's. I'm talking tomato's, lettuce, onions, even mixing the cole slaw and dressing with his bare hand's. I find this to be both despiciable and disgusting. I attempted to contact the corprate office's human resource's dept. but have gotten no response. In fact I've left a total of 7 voice mails with the restraunts district manager Jae {Ward?} also with no response. The place is sloppy all over it's time for accountability. If you are a Friendly"s employee and want to speak on your work conditions e-mail me at freshsockspro@yahoo.com. P.s. Residents of Chester VA. Next time your at Friendly's and your getting ready to order your food, ask your server "Is Tyrone in the kitchen". If the anwser is yes, tip your server and leave. Unless you like the taste of germs, in that case stay.

My son and I just finished eating at the Friendly's on Rt. 18 in Plymouth, we were VERY disappointed with our experience. My son asked me to go there specifically for the "peeps sundae" they have been advertising. Upon walking in the door, the first thing my 5 yr old son said was "do you have the peeps sundae?" To which the answer was yes, by the waitress who seated us. Another server then greeted us to serve us and again my son stated that he was going to have this sundae to which the waitress replied ok. Upon finished his dinner (which he was so proud to do because he knows he can not have dessert unless he does) he ordered his sundae. Ten minutes after ordering our desserts, the waitress came back to tell us they no longer had that sundae. I asked to speak to a manager, another ten minutes goes by in which she then comes to tell me they have not had that sundae for a week, it was an Easter promotion. Meanwhile, my son had already eaten half of my sundae, so I said forget it, just take my sundae off the bill (the kids meals come with a Sundae). When the waitress finally came with the bill, my sundae had not been removed and my son had not gotten the sundae that came with his meal because he ate mine. I am very disappointed with the way the whole situation was handled and will not be returning. I have been in the food service industry at various restaurants for the past 11 years, and I know customer satisfaction is one of the most important aspects in the industry. I am extremely disappointed as is my son. (I would also like to mention this was for his birthday and they didn't seem to care how disappointed he was).

A Wrongfully Terminated Friendlys Employee (quincy,ma) 4/9/11
What a poorly ran restaurant, I worked at friendly's for a couple months and it was by far the worst months in my life! I worked overtime (off the clock), was threatened of my job if i complained about it at all so I never did. The way the employees are treated (servers, fountain, dishwasher, and cook, even the store manager) is completely unacceptable!! It's really sad because all the reviews on here prove to me that our guest seem to think it is the servers that are wrong but in all reality it is due to the poor management of the General Manager at that. We are told how to serve our food, although we are suppose to "abide by the rules" (5 smiles, steps of service, ect.) we are not aloud to do so when we are being screamed at by management in the middle of the store while we are busy being told to cook as a server, make ice creams as a server and do dishes as a server, I have honestly never felt so invaded in my work experience than I have here by my general manager. I understand we are suppose to work together as a team but we are also suppose to make sure that customers are getting the BEST SERVICE, seeing how friendly's doesn't have the greatest reviews in general! Not to mention I was wrongfully terminated from this company not even a week ago, simply because me and my GM did not get along to well, which should not even matter because we both need to me mature and responsible at work, she NEVER made it that way! I felt discriminated against every time we worked together, I was never written up at all and got good reviews from my guests. She fired me because I said I would be writing a complaint on her for multiple reasons that I choose not to speak of so she made up an excuse that i could not meet friendly's criteria.. I don't even think they have a CRITERIA seeing the way the business is ran, now I have to struggle to find another job to provide for my son and myself being a single mother...

BRENDA 4/12/11
Iwent to Friendly's on Newton St in South Hadley. My service was so slow it took 50 minutes before we got our food. I was told they did not have coke and had none in back storage.
When our food finally arrived my sons mac and cheese and hot dog were microwaved. The hot dog was shriveled up and the mac and cheese has dried out on the top. My chicken wrap was cold and the wrap was hard on the edges.
I am so disgusted with the service and food. I will not be going back to that Friendly's ever again.

Disappointed in PA 4/19/11
On Monday, April 18, 2011, my daughter, grandchildren and I went to Friendly’s in Camp Hill, PA for dinner after my grandson’s baseball game. We arrived around 8:30. Friendly’s has been a favorite place for us since my grandkids, now ages 8 and 11, were toddlers. We have had good and bad meals but overall things have been somewhat satisfactory. Service has been good most visits. Last night this all drastically changed. We had an experience that has caused us to consider never setting foot in your restaurant again. My grandson ordered a salad. After eating about half of it he suddenly spit out what he was chewing and started gagging. We realized upon further inspection he had bitten down on an artificial fingernail (full size.) He immediately ran to the bathroom and threw up. My daughter picked up the nail and immediately went to the cashier. The reaction from waitress to manager was “OH.” They weren’t even very disturbed. She was given a weak, “we are sorry.” One waitress saying she knew who it belonged to. No one asked after my grandsons well being. They just brushed the entire thing off. Needless to say our main meal had not arrived so we left feeling we should have had better service and concern. As I pass this story on to people, everyone is appalled by the reaction of the staff and their lack of concern. We are very disappointed in this experience. I felt I needed to report this incident to someone.

This morning and I had breakfast at the Midedletown, DE Friendly's. The wait staff was friendly, the food was okay, though not warm enough, served promptly. As we were finishing and getting ready to leave, the a/c vents turned on pouring a noxious smell into the restaurant. I became light headed and my eyes became irritated. I asked the waitress what the smell was and she said she didn't know, they were fixing the roof, it could be that. We went to wash out our eyes and then left immediately. The waitresses said they were getting dizzy from the fumes.
After making several phone calls to try to find out what chemical was used I heard from Dist. Mgr. Mike Hall. He contacted the roofer, DDS, in NJ, and they told him they used a product called Polaroof Rac. I went online and found this to be a single component urethane, flammable and an irritant that has warning against human contact and with specific admonitions NOT TO LET IT INTO THE BUILDING!!
This is not the first timed this Friendly's had problems with the building. Last time they were cleaning up a moldy ceiling tile and leak, the smell was awful.

I have been washing out my eyes all day, and now five hours later, they feel somewhat relieved, but it took all day of dealing with my eyes being irritated and it being difficult to get anything done.

Mr. Hall was very unconcerned about the danger the people at the restaurant was in.
There could have been an explosion had the fumes built up and reached the kitchen.

The general lack of concern for the welfare of both their employees and their customers, the fact that the bathroom had obviously been cleaned with a dirty rag from the way it smelled, no hand towels, music blasting.

We will not return and I will be taking this to the authorities to find out if inspections by OSHA and the local Health department will find a remedy.

I do not expect any answer, I doubt you care that your business is poorly run,

THIS MORNING I MET WITH A GROUP OF MY MILITARY VETS FRIENDS FOR BREAKFAST AT THE DELRAY BEACH,FL FRIENDLY RESTAURANT.THE WAITRESS MADE A MISTAKE WITH MY ORDER AND MY CHECK.WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO HER ATTENTION,SHE TOLD THE MANAGER.THE MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND SHE REFUSED TO ADJUST THE CHECK ACCORDINGLY. WHEN I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD NEVER EAT AT FRIENDLY'S AGAIN, HER ONLY RESPONSE WAS " WHATEVER?"

I phoned my local Friendly's in Lee to place an order for pickup. They set the phone down 20 minutes ago and I am sitting here listening to all the noise in the background while know body picks the phone back up. This store has the worst service of any Friendly's I have ever been in. The managers of this store should be fired. Most times when I go in the store it's filthy making me not want to eat their anyway. I will never recommend this store to anyone asking for a good place to eat. Worst service I have ever received anywhere. I'm very unhappy.

Don 3/27/11
I went in on the 24th of March to get dinner. Tickets were mixed up an I ended up paying $10 more than I should have. I was exhausted and did not notice that evening. The next day I realized it and called the store. I was told to stop by the following day after 4 pm, because the manager on duty, my server, and the store manager would be present and we could fix the problem. I stopped by the next day. The store manager greeted me and apologized for the mix up and told me that my meal was on her. I did not receive a refund for the $10 I was overcharged; so, my meal wasn't on her. I pre-paid for a meal I received 2 nights later. The food was good and the wait staff was excellent, but the store manager ruined the atmosphere. I guess that is one way to ensure repeat business, yes? I'll not set foot in a Friendly's ever again.

We visit Friendly's all the time ,we never have a problem with the Milford store. We went to the Northbrige store to get 4 bowls of soup witch we love and get all the time.We got take out and when we got home there were like 5 or 6 noodles in each bowl, you could tell that they did not have enough for 4 so they still made 4 .We had the same problem in that store once before and will not be returning.
Thank you

We had visited the local Friendly's on Squire road in Revere MA, twice last week. Both days, Cream Cheese was NOT available for our bagels. OK, 1 day I can see, but 2?
there is a price rite grocery market in the same area (northgate plaza) that I would gladly walk up to get this. WHAT IS WRONG HERE? Franchise or not, you people are lame, lazy and very inconsiderate to your cusomers. IF my aunt ever requests cream cheese on her bagel again and it's not available, rest assured I will go to price rite and get it MYSELF!

Pleased Customer 3/6/11
We dine at the Friendly's restaurant in Copaigue, NY (on Long Island). Today my children were there for lunch with their Grandparents. About 4 1/2 hours later, I was told that the $20 bill that I gave my daughter, was lost. I went back to the restaurant to see if by any chance someone found it and turned it in. My daughter remembered her server, who I only now know as Steve. When I explained our situation, he smiled and said very happily "found it!" and gave me the neatly folded bill.
I am writing this to commend the young man for his honesty and a integrity. I hope that his manager is made aware of my feedback and that Steve is recognized for his efforts. Sincerely,
a Very Pleased and Grateful
Friendly Customer.

I visited the friendlys location im milford,ct on 02/25/2011 at 10:45pm on a friday-the take out section is open until 12:00midnight-, and the very rude and obnoxious employee refused to make me a milkshake, a friend-z, any sundae of any kind. He stated everything was "shut down, and all i can get was a ice cream cone. Why are you open until midnight on fridays and saturday if you are unable to get ice cream after 10:45pm? Why are all machines shut downbefore 11:0pm? i think it may be laziness, and it was definitely poor service, being rude on top of not having any product of which you sell, is perposterous. i dont know if anyone of importance reads these messages, bt it was very disappointing. Friendly's located in Harrisburg, PA is definitely not what it used to be. Today was my third disgusting encounter with them. My wife ordered a birthday cake for my daughter and told the person who took her order that in the past on two occasions they didn't have our cakes ready for us to pick up. He assured my wife that it will not happen the third time and so he took all the details and promised us that it will be ready for pick up. Today, when I went to pick it up the manager on duty had absolutely no knowledge of our order. this is beyond unbelievable! Now, I am supposed to get a call from their district manager...and to be honest I don't have much hope and my confidence is already rock bottom as far as their ability to resolve this issue.

Hi
I find now that the amount of ice cream I get now is reduced in size, however, you still charge the same price
as though is was the bigger size, WHY? are you saying you are that greedy? Even your Melt sandwiches are also reduced in size. I can remember when I would eat at your various locations a melt sandwich with fries would fill me up, now it doesn't. I find this at the Saratoga Springs NY store and the Latham NY on Rt.9 Later

my family and i visited the easton pa restraunt on febuary 13,2011. when we walked into the restraunt at 10:30 in the morning their was only 9 tables of customers eating. The hostess came out from the back and told us we would have to wait 15 minutes before they would seat us at a table. I repeated what she said back to her because i wasnt sure i understood what she was saying that we were going to have to STAND in the llobby for 15 minutes before they would seat us. i asked her couldnt we sit at a table she said NO we are to far behind in the kitchen to seat you at a table. i then told her i wouldnot wait 15 minutes to ne seated when their was empty tables in the restraunt. we then left and went to another restraunt where we had a faboulos breakfast. what a shame on your company for sending a cutomer to another restraunt for breakfast for refusing to seat them at a table. the smart thing to do was to seat them at a table then tell them it would be a few minutes until they took their order because they were backed up ion the kitchen not to turn a paying customer away

I visited your Friendly's restaurant at the Montrose location this evening at 5:54p.m. and received the worst customer service. Our waitress was unresponsive and seemed eager to stay away from the table. The manager avoided us as well greeting and speaking with every table around us; He didn't even so much as ask us how the food tasted. We never heard of any specials and we're barely able to order our drinks before she quickly left the table. Every waitress around us seemed happy to be there and gave their guest what seemed to be wonderful service. It was my son's birthday and I only wish I had chosen another restaurant to give my hard earned server tips. You would think a fellow server would understand the importance of good service. When selecting a dining choice in the future Friendly's won't even be an option.

Sincerely,

Ebony

Friendly's on 2080 Warwick Avenue is the worst friendly's. The manager Beverly that was on duty the day I went was EXTREMELY rude beyond belief. Not only was she rude to the customers but I also witnessed her grab an employee for whatever reason. Not only was this not manager material but she needs to be fired. Those poor employees need a better manager with better management skills!!!

It's a shame that things have to be this way. I always loved coming to Friendly's at your Transit Road Location, a few of the girls are very nice servers however the manager at that Location, his name is (Bob) he is a terrible excuse for a store manager. He talks down to the girls, and my husband and I heard provocative, sexual abuse language to the waitresses. ..things need to be addressed there. I will be taking my business to Maple Road. I have two children and am 37 years old, we do not want to be around that type of environment.

I have to agree, both as a former frequent customer and as a former employee, Friendly's has nose-dived!
I used to waitress there as a teenager. I had to endure pinches from lecherous men, my boss was drunk on the job constantly, we were always short- staffed, but I went out of my way to make sure that people were treated nicely.
After all, the name of the restaurant is named Friendly's!!! I enjoyed the customers for the most part, especially the little kids, and the excitement on their faces when I would bring the sundaes!
If Friendly's if going to ever remain, they need to do an overhaul of every single store, weed out the bad apples, and clean up the dumps these places have become.

On a positive note, I will say a huge thank you to Friendly's for supplying Give Kids the World, in Kissimmee Fla. with free ice cream for the children who end up there because of life threatening illnesses. My children have all attended there, and they loved the free ice cream. What a treat after enduring hospital after hospital.
They still talk about it!
Friendly's...do yourself a favor, and get out there with some mystery shoppers, or just read this thread and get moving. People need jobs, and will work well, instead of some of the snotty teenagers (not all are) or the ridiculous power-hungry managers...FIRE them and get good people who will bring Friendly's back up in status and in the public's view of them.
Just my opinion, but thanks again for your contribution to Give Kids the World, often the children who go there don't have much to look forward to. You made a lot of kids smile when we were there.

Thankful Grandmother 11/22/10
My grandkids and I stopped by the Sagamore beach Friendly's that we go to all the time and had a great kid-friendly dinner. My granddaughter left her electronic game behind and we didn'r discover it until we got home. One of the great employees there Dan Heard not only remembered her name and where she was sitting but also that she had colored a picture for the coloring contest and left her phone number on it. He called right away and we were able to retrieve it. This was way beyond his responsibility to track down this little girl and make sure she got her game back. Thanks to all of the employees at this location and throughout the area. My grandkids always want to go to Friendly's for every occassion. From the 2 year old all the way up to the 9 year old. Thanks again to Dan and as the kids say " We love Friendly's"

I currently reside in a neighboring city to the F.I.C. Headquarter Location of Wilbraham, MA. I worked for a company in another neighboring city (Springfield, MA) for years. The owner of the company I had worked for was very good friends with the original (or one of them) founders of Friendly Ice Cream Corp.
A shame it is. I have always been disappointed with FIC restaurant servers and food, since the 80's anyhow. However my boyfriend loves to bring his children there to eat. So we have gone quite often. The coffee is good, I will give you that. It beats Dunkin Donuts, they changed their flavor approx. 12-14 yrs ago and I don't like DD's coffee anymore. At least FIC's coffee is better. Is it Green Mountain? Anyway...There has to be something done. These comments above mine are quite factual. I hope you, FIC, are not reading them with a grain of salt. Possibly believing that all of these comments are with exaggeration. I assure you they seem quite accurate to me, after having many of the exact same "un-vocalized" complaints myself. Until now.

Especially the restaurant located right next door to the main corporation. What balls the company has to do wrong, being right next door even!

We recently visited Friendly Ice Cream at the Rotterdam Square Mall in Rotterdam NY with 2 of our grandchildren. It had to be one of our worse dinning out experiences.
We are not frequent Friendly customers we would stop at Friendly's when we travel primarily because of the consistency of the food and service offered. Our visit on October 30, 2010 was not what we would typically expect. We were greeted promptly and we were seated and the grandsons (2 and 5 years old) were given crayons and paper. Our order was taken by Brennan or Brendon who relied on his memory to relay our order to whoever was preparing our meal, although he might be 90-95 % accurate in delivering our order by memory to the cook, how does the cook do remembering the orders that are verbally provided? My observation on that evening with the other customers sitting near us, two had there food sent back because the food was not what they had ordered or prepared the way they wanted it.
Our first problem was the timing of the delivery of the food. My wife ordered a bowl of Chili and a half of sandwich, the two boys got Mac and Cheese with a side, and I ordered a Buffalo Chicken. The time from sitting down and the first food to arrive was a good 15 minutes and my wife got her chili, me and the boys watched her it her chili, and the 2 year old got antsy so I had to leave the restaurant with him to avoid him disturbing others. After waiting another 15 minutes the rest of the food was delivered, the quality of the food ranged from poor to fair, and it wasn't worth the amount of money we paid. One of my grandsons ordered a side of carrots with his macaroni and cheese and instead of getting cook carrots he got raw carrots that looked like what you would find in the bottom of your refrigerator drawer of your refrigerator after a month or 2. The other grandson had broccoli which looked okay but he vomited it up during the night. My wrap was about average but the portion was equal to about 2/3rds of the size of your competitors.
I figured you should be told of bad experiences, they provide improvement opportunities. Here are a few suggestions for you:
1. All wait staff use pencil and paper when taking orders this provides accuracy for all involved with the order.
2. Consider the customers when determining when the food is brought out if there are little children feed them first or provide free individually wrapped snacks like crackers or goldfish.
3. Reduce your children's menu prices, to get a scoop of Kraft Macaroni and cheese, and bowl of ice cream for nearly $6.00 is highway robbery.
Speaking of Highways we will be going to Boston this weekend and guess where we will not be stopping at?

Thank You
You also should be ashamed of yourselves for charging so much for kids meals.

this morning my husband and I went to the store in Clifton New Jerswey on Main Ave. We were greeted by Ruben who promtly seated us and got us a wonderful cup of coffee. We order breakfast and it came in a short timje and was exactly as we ordered. Ruben came over to check with or order and fill our coffee cups.
The manager came and checked if everythinhg was ok also. You could see the pride he had in this store.
We have gone to this store for many years and in the past sometimes was not pleased with service.
I wanted to do the survey so they would know how improved the store was. Was I surprised when survey form said store #0198 did not exist! Same number that was on my fod check! Someone in corporate should chheck this out.You cannot vote for a store if corporate thinks it does not exist. I will call that store in the morning!!

This review here is about the Friendly's Restaurant in Yonkers, NY. A new general manager has taken over the store recently and has brought utter chaos. This is a story about theft, fraud, and sex in the business place. A romance takes place in clear sight causing extreme tension amongst workers. This romance was transfered from the Hartsdale Restaurant to the Yonkers Restaurant when the general manager Charles Hunter moved to take over the Yonkers location. Sharlia and Charles are having a sexual relationship in the workplace and are committing fraud. Sharlia is allowed to leave the workplace while she's still clocked in, therefore getting paid while she's at home. Favoritism also plays a huge roll here causing disgruntlemnet amongst long time employees. "Yeah, she's transfered over here and is given all of our hours", says one long time employee. "She comes here and all of our hours got cut. I went from the upper 30's to the mid 20's while Sharlia gets 38 hours." It's amazing how this is allowed to go on. Another employee states, "Sharlia? She doesn't do anything when she comes to work. And when she feels like going home she just calls Charles on his cell phone and tells him she wants to go home." There have been numerous complaints called in to Friendly's Corporate office. All of them have been ignored.

main st., Worcester,MA-on 2 separate occasions, I noticed practices that really hit me as being unethical, and I state this coming from the viewpoint of being a waitress myself. I noticed the mgr. waiting on tables and pocketing tips during slow periods of work where his "help" was clearly not needed by the waitresses (of which there were 2 on duty). Waitresses work hard for every tip we earn, so to see a mgr., who by the way, only waited on tables where pretty girls were seated, step ahead of a waitress on duty only to benefit himself both socially & financially, well, let's just say this young man made my stomach crawl. Then 2 see him brush his hand across one of the waitresses butts was sickening. I wouln't recommend Friendly's to my very worst enemy, of which I might add, I have none!!!!

ok, so i work at friendly's in Tewksbury. At first, i had a great manager, one who took everyone and his or her thoughts, and did his best to schedule everyone. He also took care of the store, with everything organized, and clean. Every employee had designated side work, and knew what to do. The store ran at an efficient rate and our customer satisfaction had never been higher. After a short while, we got a new manager and assistant manager. Both took interest in reorganizing the store, and attempting to have the store run smoother. Mission failed. The store has fallen into a state of chaos, with side work being assigned at random and in no way appropriate for those to whom they had been assigned. The assistant manager has a nasty habit of causing problems by talking with respectable tones in her voice and actions, at least towards me. And if that isn't enough, my hours got cut so severely, I only worked one or two days a week, then this week I didn't get scheduled at all, nor was I even on the available workers list. Is that really a managing tactic that should be accepted by a place called "Friendly's"? I think not.

SO FRUSTRATED! 10/23/10
MAIN STREET, MOORESTOWN, NJ - I have been calling there for over an hour to place an order for take out. From 5 to 6:10 PM, Saturday night. I just cannot believe they won't pick up the phone. What kind of business is this? And yes, I checked and rechecked the telephone number. Called another Friendly's a few towns over (who picked up on the first ring) and tripple checked the phone number. My daughter worked there a few years ago for a long time, and business was NEVER like this. It's the Phillies game tonight, we wanted to order dinner for EIGHT PEOPLE! I am so frustrated. Oh well, we called Lavita's right down the street...they also picked up on the first ring and got our FAT order. I will never, ever go to Friendly's again. Ever.

Disgusted 10/15/10
I decided to give Friendly's one more try... actually no i didn't Subway was being renovated and the chinese buffet was about to close so I guess, in Ware, Ma, you were my last option.

I vowed to never go to Friendly's again once I started ordering food here and the service was awful with the food being greasy and not well prepared or cooked, and ever since i was told that you charge for each "extra" when ordering extra hot fudge. Heaven forbid I say I want extra, extra hot fudge with a lil smile and get charged double!!! That was a fun conversation with my waitress wondering how much i would be charged if I ordered "alot" or "Lots of" or "load it on" or "globs" and how much is 1 "Friendly's Serving Size" of hot fudge anyway? How would I know if I wanted extra with nothing to base it off of?

Regardless, I ordered a sandwich to go, the Chicken Brushetta. while it sounded so delicous and rather healthy when I got home (walking distance) My sandwich looked like it was something taken out of a trash can. The bread was literally unedible, there was a soggy strip of lettuce and that was it the tomatoes were somewhat on one half of the sandwich which had been cut in half... the tomatoes weren't rolling around in the styrofoam container... they were just non-existant. Serving this kind of food is a disgrace. i don't know how you are still in business.

No more second guessing even when I am hungry and there is no where else to go. Seeya later Friendly's.

Manager at the Gettysburg Friendly's, Bonnita, needs to have some "management training" classes, or be re-located to a job where she can actually handle her job title! Worst experience ever, Saturday Oct. 10th....5pm -- 7:30 pm!!!!!!

jeff 10/9/10
went to friendly's tonight and watched two waitresses tell the manager that they were not going seat another waitress with a table (8:30) and leave her on the floor until 10:00pm so she could do their side-work .first off i work for a living and make a good hourly wage but i know that waitresses do not unless they get tables/customers.second if these girls cant do there fair share of work they should be fired because obviously the girl who is getting set up to not make any money has the gusto to do the work. second im a boss and i don't let my employees tell me how to do my job or how i should do my job. obviously they don't have the right people in management and their management team is actually controlled by the waitresses. my point is that i was disgusted by the conversation being held in my presence while three employees sat there and chatted it up while not one acknowledged me. then the girl they were going to pull the stunt on was busy as a bee. i just hate lazy people that are mad at the world because they have no understanding of how to work hard and try to make something of yourself.my experience happened at the FAYETTVILLE NY RESTAURANT.very disappointed at the unprofessional behavior that i had to en dour waiting to hand a good waitress my money. i felt bad for the waitress that they were doing this to. she deserves a better manager.

I know a teenage girl who is only sixteen and works at Friendly's on Wolcott Rd Waterbury. She is a great girl who watches my kids. The manager there named Patrick
treats her terribly!!! A customer changed her mind on what she wanted for icecream and she called the manager over to void out so she could make the change. He then told the customer that she did not know how to put the food in right. He told her at another point to put her own money in. When she didn't understand what he was saying he called her in the back and called her stupid. She was in tears when she got back to the customer. The customer then said whats wrong honey why are you crying I didn't htink it was a big deal. Then said customer said she would call tomorrow to talk to the head manager about what happened. She was not happy about the treatment of the employee who did nothing wrong!! Also I am told by the girls parents that they will be calling the labor board because of the harrassment of thier daughter and that her and another under age employees are told to clock out and continue working so the manager doesn't get in trouble for having to many employees on!! If you ask me they should call the labor board because that is illegal?!! They also are always understaffed and can't seem to keep good employees because they treat thier employees very badly. This should and will be looked into!!!

Always such slow service at this location (Saugus, MA) but we made the mistake of giving it another try! Tonight we went there with our 4 yr old and 1 yr old, hoping for a fun meal. The restaurant was not crowded, so we had high hopes...my mistake!

The waitress (very new) dumped an entire tray of soda on me and my 1 yr old son. I felt bad since she was new, so I brushed it off. Then the food took FOREVER to come out and in the meantime I had to try to keep my 1 yr old from screaming...ugh. To top it all off, we had to wait forever for our to-go iced cream. Neihter the manager or the waitress offered to comp any of the meal.

I don't think there was anyone over the age of 21 working there--I even glimpsed (as I was trying to entertain my son, walking through the restaurant) people in the kitchen texting away...while our food sat on the counter...waiting.Don't think we'll be going back there again anytime soon.

I recently worked at one of the Friendlys Ice Cream stores in Morristown NJ (Convent Station) all of the managers as well as the staff were very nice and courteous,if i needed anything the staff was more then happy to assist me and the managers were very helpful in assisting me if i had any questions about my services to be rendered, being a contractor and working at many established businesses through the tri state area, i have to say that working at this Friendlys location was a very nice experience.....Thank You Friendlys you and your staff were awesome!!....Jim Coletto

A friend and I finished errands yesterdayin Yorktown Heights NY and decided to have an ice cream soda.
We went in around 3pm and no one greeted us at the front desk. A young woman called for us to seat ourselves and as we went down the aisle passed table after table of uncleared plates and glasses.

We took a seat to the rear and simultaneously noticed an upleasant odor in the air..We could not decide if it smelled like sour milk or the table had been wiped with an unlcean cloth.
We left and went to the local diner for our ice cream soda. Where is management in this? no supervision..a real turnoff in atmosphere.Sad to see in Friendly's.

J. Hull 9/29/10
This evening 9/29/10 I went to the Friendly's in Hackettstown, NJ and I received terrible service! I went in to take a small ice cream home for my girlfriend and the manager waited on me. He was rude and short with me; he snatched the money out of my hand and practically threw the change at me. He did not say hello, thank you or goodbye. I too work with people as a server and I know that if I ever treated a guest the way that he treated me I would most certainly lose my job. I do not want to go back and I feel that his behavior as a manager was absolutely uncalled for. There are standards that are applied at my job as far as hiring goes I feel that there must not be any there.

Debbie H. 9/28/10
Went to friendly's in Easton, Pa. on William Penn Hwy on 9/21/10. The smell is so bad in this place that we had to get up and leave. I complained to the Manager and he said he thinks it is the carpet that smells from the kids spilling drinks. He also told me that once you are in here for awhile you don't smell it. I told him that we are leaving and that we would never come in again. The people at another table also complained of the stench.......stay away from that place. EWWWWWWW

Sue 9/26/10
With regards to Debbie's comment. Fairport Road Friendly's is a mess. The manager's seem to always be yelling and being very direspectful to their workers.
I don't know what happen to that other manager, if I remember correctly her name was Marie? She worked there for a long time. Know matter what time we went in, if she was their, her employees were working together, and they were happy. She was an asset to the restaurant. Now that restaurant is managed by a bunch of teeney boppers. What is Friendly's thinking. We wont go back!!!

Sue

Your menu is the poorest on the planet. I'm embarrassed! I'm originally form the North Shore of Massachusetts. And you are a MA business? Shame on you! I've read about 1/2 of the above reports and they were 100% negative about your service, food, and desserts AND EMPOYEES! You can't get lower ratings than that. There's only two ways for Friendly's to go and that is up or OUT!!! ...and you will go OUT of business because the people will stop patronizing your restaurnats.
Most sincerely. (I'd have given you "0" stars for a rating but there is no zero stars!)

Friendly's used to be very good; a real treat for a family. Now it is a nightmare. The store in Windsor Locks, CT on Rte 75 proved this to be true. Ten minutes after our party of 6 adults and 3 children were seated, we were told it was very busy and the wait would be longer than usual. When we placed our order, my wife was told she could not have oil for her salad. Half an hour after ordering, we were informed there were no apples for the apple-chicken salad because they were "recalled". Another 15 minutes later, we were told the wait would be longer because "the cooks are making a mess of the grill". We should have left and went somewhere else, but we were not familiar with the area. When our food(?) came, my mother-in-law's baked fish was black on both sides and missing fish in the middle. My wife's grilled chicken salad was brown and had what appeared to be 2 chicken McNuggets sliced and placed on top. The evening manager was no help and said we would have to speak to the store manager the next day. Shame on you Friendly's for having such poor customer service and questionable food.

Hilde Harper 9/22/10
My name is Hilde Harper and I am the theatrical director for Toms River High School East. In May I arranged to hold a fundraiser at our local friendly's on Hoopepr Ave. in Toms River. This was the second fundraiser that school year.

The first fundraiser was so successful we told all the other clubs, and they too signed up for fundraisers, and were equally pleased.

So, in May, we dedided to do it again. I submitted, again, all the prerequisite tax forms, etc., sent out the flyer I was given, and showed up for the fundraiser.

Since it was the end of May and school would be out soon, I was concerned that the check would not be cashed promptly. However, I kept checking with the school and no check arrived at all.

Now that we are back in session, I checked in with the Manager of our Friendly's to find out that the problem was with issuing our check. She informed me that I had cancelled the fundraiser!

I was stunned! I informed the manager of my name and position, and I most certainly did not cancel the event. She then offered the possibility that perhaps I hadn't brought in the addition requisite revenue and therefore was inelligible for the funds. Again I was stunned! I was never informed, in the fall of 2009 or in May of 2010 that I had to have a prerequisite number of patrons or tables filled. The only information I received was that our funds would be calculated from the sales between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

I am very disappointed. Naturally, I am disappointed in encouraging my club, numbering about 150 people, to go to Friendly's that night, and then being told I was deficient in bringing addition patronage in when I had no knowledge of this requirement.

I most strongly suggest that all the rules and requirements for these fundraisers be written out and signed by both the manager and the fundraiser coordinator so that this sad outcome is not repeated. During these hard eccomic times and cuts in extra curricular activities, and cuts in funding, we are grateful for any and all ways to raise money. Sadly, Friendly's no longer seems so Friendly.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I would like to let you know that i visit the friendlys in whitinsville at least once a week for ice cream.last week i went and i got home and my banana split had no bananas on it (thats not the first time) I called and they told me to come to get another one.So i did last night the manager waited on me again this week i told him who i was and that the size of the ice cream scoops we not the regular size. so he said i'll way them out in front of you.He was very rude. he was unprofessional. Then he started making my ice creams and then let them sit there on the counter and helped out another customer that wasn't happy either. Then went back to making mine. when he was done with my four ice creams he brought them over to me i opened the bananasplit that he made first it was melted. He did offer to make a new one but then the rest would have been melted.Another waitress waited on three other party's to his one .i figurged i would let you know that he is not a very polite manager the one the use to work nights was alot nicer if you had a problem.
SO i willtake my business elsewere.

My husband visited the restaurant in Columbus, Ohio on E. Dublin-Granville Rd. He visits this restaurant at least 2 times a week. On this past Staurday May 15th approx 4:30pm, he went in to purchase a hamburger, his order came to $6.39. He gave the cashier a $20 dollar bill and when he tried to give her the .40 cent, she got extremely frusatrated trying to figure out his change and she just literally threw his All of his money at him!!! My husband is a very nice and extremely easy going guy, he was very offended by her actions. No ne should have to be treated like this! Friendly's needs to have repeat customers to survive. I am quite sure the Owners care about thier bottom line even if the staff that works in these restaurants do not!!!!! If your company does not make good on this, we are vowing "Never to patronize another Frinedly's Reastauant, ever and we are going to tell our family memebers and friends to do the same. Word of mouth can hurt a bottom line of help it!! Bad Customer Service can Kill It!!!!!

Extremely disgusted by a long long long time customer of Friendly's,

My father and I had our once a week lunch at Friendly'sboth of our lunches that were delicious. I love the bbq chicken sandwich. The manager was telling another worker about the big bug problem that they have there. He even pointed in the kitchen and said there goes one now! He said he's sprays them and they pretend to be dead and come back alive when your not looking. I was so nausiated! I am 5 months pregnant on top of feeling sick already. I asked the waitress to please let the manager know that I overheard his conversation and he lost two great customers... Frienly's located in Bloomfield New Jersey on Broad Street.. It was about 2:oo p.m.

I do not have the receipt from this evenings visit to be able to take it properly online. My husband and I went to the Independence Ave, Quincy, MA location this eve. and were extremly disappointed. I cannot even identify the server by name, there were only 2 dark haired girls working, but ours had her forearms tatooed. We placed our order and I requested no tarter sauce on the fish. It came with the tarter sauce on it. We had no silver utensils even after our dinners had arrived. My husband requested his burger plate to be med. cooked and she told him that Friendly's only cooks med/well. We frequent Friendly's often to know this is not the case. His burger plate was just well done. She never came to our table to ask for re-fill on beverages, nor did she ever come back to ask if everything was fine. (at which time I would have told her about the tarter sauce request). We finally got the manager to come over and take our dessert order in which he fulfilled. Then he actually finalized the check for us. He was very accomodating to us. Again, no name tags were being worn by the staff, so it is hard to identify. Her service was extremely poor, but the manager was very helpful in the end. What I think was bothersome is that the restraunt only had 3 booths occupied. It was very slow at the time we were in there. I cannot imagine what it would have been like had it been busy. Thank You.

A few weeks back my husband and I brought our 2 boys to Friendly's for dinner in Glastonbury, CT and we couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the waitstaff. So happy to have a Friendly's practically in our backyard in Cromwell, CT we decided to make it a regular kids night out on Wed., only to be disappointed by not only the food but the staff. The salad I got was soggy and not edible, the buns from the mini burgers from my son's meal tasted and smelled stale. It's very sad that we need to travel 20 minutes to eat at Friendly's when we have one 5 minutes from our house. Please get a manager from the Glastonbury restaurant to give some direction to the Cromwell restaurant, that's the only way Cromwell is going to survive from the looks of the crowd last night.

Today, June 1st at 3:00 my mother and I went to friendly's in Delray Beach, Fl. Upon entering you had a waiter behind the counter waiting on a lady and her son. The other servers were all sitting down. We stood there waiting for someone to come over and greet us and seat us, of course no one did. After standing for quite sometime while your employees sat there talking and counting there money I finally sat down with my mother, she stood long enough, (she's 88). After a while one of the servers got up and looked over at us the went back and sat back down again, we finally got up and left and went to Ihop to eat. I think you need a meeting with your staff and manager about customer service.

I went to eat at the Hagerstown Md. store on 5/30. When I went to pay I gave the waitress my visa card and told her to charge 31.00 and gave her the change of .96 cents. When I went online and seen she charged me 31.96 plus kept the 96 cents. I called the store and spoke with the manager on duty Scott I think it was. He toke my name and number and said corporate would call me because the store does not handle that and I'm still waiting on a call or credit. Thank You

On Saturday, June 5th the Friendly's in Stoughton,MA had a free ice cream promotion.
I stood in line with my 8 year old daughter to get a free ice cream.
When I got to the window I also wanted to purchase something. They told me to go inside.
I went inside & stood there for over 5 minutes as 5 to 6 employees look at me & ignored me until I called out to one of them if anyone was on register because I actually wanted to buy something. One of them just shrugged & told me that he had no register either & went out back to get one, but never returned so I left the store.
Within this time, I never even saw a manager @ to speak to about this.

No wonder so many of the stores have closed.

By the way, a new ice cream store opened right down the street from the Friendly's & it is great.

i work at a friendlys, and we ONLY serve or burgers medium-well, well, or extra well. so please do not think your server was lying to you, we try our best to be friendly to you, we wish for the same in return. Also, our computers are what charges you, not us, all of our checks are audited randomly, trust me, we dont want to lose our jobs for over charging you!! And we do not always have a greeter, so if it takes us a minute to seat you, please dont take offense we are waiting on our other guests too! We want your business, we are nottt trying to disrespect you! And we are told not to refill your drinks unless you want another one, corporate wants to save their penny, your server should have asked if youd like a refill though, come to my restaurant and i promise you the service you deserve! we appreciate and are happy to see every guest who walks in our door, even if we are busy or about to close. we are only here because you are. and i thank every friendlys patron! -a friendly server from horseheads, ny.

I recently visited a Friendly's Ice Cream In Saugus Massachusetts Restaurant #00896. I witnessed a greeter that was seeting people it was quite busy I have to say. So the greeter sat the party and I noticed at the greeters desk there is a map which maps out the tables and which waiters and waitresses are responsible for their sections. Apparently the person that was in charge of that table had gone to break another waiter was asked to cover the table but for what ever reason did not follow thru. Also as I was waiting to be seated I overheard some of the staff talking about the schedule that the manager puts together at store # 00896 not sure if he favors some of the workers giving them more hours and others not or the most unprofessional thing that caught my attention was that an employee would be scheduled show up and then be told oh I'm sorry I didn't call you but we are not busy don't need you today. The employee then stated this is not the first time I do deserve a courtesy call to be told that the store is slow. Now the employee is out of hours and a lot of them are young adults that I'm sure do not have cars have to now find a ride because their ride just drove off. I mean really what kind of management is that? Sounds like a flustered manager that is unable to perform his tasks maybs he is the one that needs to go. Please consider visiting this store #00896 Saugus Massachusetts you may need to make some changes with your management. I myself in management for many many years would let this one go or maybe send him to a training class. Believe me there would be no loss there at this Saugus Mass store by cutting ties with him. Two separate issues -- overcharging. This is a routine practice at Friendly's. The menu says that a cup of clam chowder costs $2.29 if you eat certain meals, yet I am always charged $3.49 and have to go to the manager to get it changed. I often eat the chicken strips which cost $8.99, the soup and iced tea, which costs about $2.00 (although the price isn't even listed on the menu). I am charged $11.99 for the chicken strips and tea even though it should only be $10.99, and then an extra $3.49 for the soup, which should only be $2.29. The first time it happened, I thought it was an honest mistake. Today I realized it is NOT an honest mistake. At the end of my meal, a waitress asks me if I am ready for my ice cream (which apparently comes with their "special") and I tell her I am ready for my check, at which point I get the check as explained above, cheating me out of $2.20, at least (I don't really know how much the tea should cost, since the price is nowhere to be found on the menu). When I went to the manager, she said they always charge the "special" price because "everyone" orders the ice cream and they are saving the customers money by giving them the special. She says I have to tell the waitress before I order that I want to be charged the a la carte price because I'm not going to have ice cream but that even so, she will charge me for the special in case I change my mind. She says the soup price was a mistake, but it is a mistake that they make every time I go and order the same food.

As for quality of the food -- I went to a different Friendly's (Swatara, Harrisburg, PA) last week and the food was dreadful. The soup was completely cold and when I told the waitress it was cold, she told me it was impossible but that she would heat it up for me. The fries were half cooked and my chocolate shake was made with vanilla ice cream. They brought my soup, food and everything at the same time. Today, I ate at the Friendly's on Centerville Road, in Lancaster, PA, and the soup was completely watered down, in addition to the pricing issues, although the rest of the food was excellent.

In the ice cream cakes could Friendly's Find why there's a reduction on cookies in the center,it slants down on both sides before it's reachs the edge...

Tim 9/18/10
Pieter, as a former employee I can shed light on your concern with the ice cream cakes. They are simply made that way. It is not a fault in the production process or anything of that nature. For instance, if you look at the packaging for any ice cream cake, the picture of the slice clearly shows that the cookie layer does not reach the edge. There's no way to change it, not that Friendly's would care. They only care about the money you give them.

I think the more you go the more you realize that the service gets worse and worse. I've been going to this one Restaurant in NJ for years and the servers begin to feel that they own the place and the customer is second or if they count at all. Another thing, I have been going with my daughter since she was a small child and now 30 years later I am being given nicknames that are insulting, such as the fat ones, I'm not overweight at all. They are just being demeaning. They ask about your job and they show annoyance because you are able to go out during the day and sit in their resturant and order food. I've had problems with kids that are sitting opposite me that are rude and obnoxious and you take as much as you can but if they interfer with dining then the managers can't handle it and there is a free for all at the customers expense. Managers are very weak and seem to be scared of their servers. I always liked Friendly's Restaurant, I don't know what happened. Doesn't seem anyone cares.

VERY POOR TASTE

Today, Sept 12 2010 I had the misfortune of eating breakfast at the Langhorne location store #727. I had a Lumberjack breakfast the eggs were undercooked and the pancakes crumbled while being cut. Pancakes rather than light and fluffy tasted
similar to a cornbread batter. No one either in the wait staff or management inquired if everthing was satisfactory. They probably knew better. Two senior managers on duty and not once did they communicate with the customers. Maybe they should be replaced with someone who wants to work and appreciates their customers.

To whom it may concern, I have visited one of your location's in Washington Township, Sewell N.J, and I am have to say your staff and store manager Chris Audio are doing a wonderful job. The experience meeting a few of the individuals was very pleasent and the atmosphere was directly aimed at catering to the customers. I deffinetly will be going back to this establishment in the future. Only concerns I have are, some confusions with your menu which your wait staff was able to clear up for me but it would make dinning there a little better if you made your menu prices clearer in stead of having a couple of the same items on different parts of the menu. Thank you for reading this and continue to do an excellent job.

I went to the Friendly's Restaurant located on Rt 70 in Cherry Hill, NJ on 8/24/10. I was there with some friends and we all ordered a dinner that came with a two scoop sundae. When we ordered our desserts, I asked that mine be packed up later as I was taking it home AND I ordered an additional two scoop sundae and a single scoop ice cream to go. When we were ready to leave, my ice cream was given to me and I of course, looked at it. The "two scoop" sundae had less ice cream than the single dip ice cream had. I paid 3.99 for what really was a small scoop of ice cream, a drop of whipped cream and a cherry, that is ridiculous! I thought it was a mistake so I spoke to Chris. You will love his answer " A two scoop sundae has less ice cream than a one scoop dish has" Seriously, I teach children that two is more than one, how on earth can Friendly's say this? I called the owner, Amal at (856) 465-2406 and left a message but he did not get back to me. I took pictures of the ice cream and will show everyone what Friendly's believes a two scoop sundae is, which is clearly smaller than a single dip of ice cream.

Most restaurants now a days will only serve their burgers medium well. The reason for this is e coli. Nobody wants a law suit because someone got sick eating undercooked beef.If your husband wants burgers cooked less than that maybe you should cook them for hin at home. I prefer my burgers rare but have to settle for medium well.

I was horrified by my experience with the pottstown coventry mall location. Not only was the manager completly rude and direspectful but the food was warm, thrown together, and smoothie was half filled. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Also I am a mall associate, they have lost my business and my coworkers business as well. The assistant manager rob was just unbelievable and I regret not walking away withthe cancelled order, and taking my business elsewhere.

Disgusted,
Jessica

To the President of Friendly Ice Cream: When I was in high school I was employed at Friendly' in Fairfield Conn. under the management of Don Tanner Manager & Tom Hanford Assitant Manager.Part of my job was to hepl train new people at new shops, one of the shops we opened was the store @ Brookside Shopping center Main St Bpt Ct. the store is still open today although I do not know how or why. The other nighe I stopped there for a quick bite, I was appauled at the store was filthy, the service was not the best, the quality of the employees for the most part below grade. When I was working at Friendly's we took real pride in keeping the store clean, and the service was always good.I was extremely disappointed in the shop, food, service, & employees.I will not go back that store needs to be totally revamped

Hello, yesterday, 8/18/2010, I took my two grandchildren and my mother out lunch at Friendly's on Turnpike Rd. in Westboro, Mass. We were seated, no problems yet. We were given our menus and we each ordered the "meal deal" for $9.99, my grandsons was $11.99 each. The total bill came to $45.00. We could have eaten at Outback Steak House for that price. The food arrived. The portion of French Fries was so small it was a joke. Three of us ordered the BBQ chicken melt with bacon and BBQ sauce. 2 sandwiches had no bacon. Other than that the food was ok. The problem I have is that our waitress, her name is Jaime, was the rudest person that I have ever met in MY LIFE! She had a long face, was snippy, didn't follow up with any niceties at all. My mother was having a cup of decaf coffee and my little 10 year old grand daughter wanted a small amount of decaf. in a cup, as a treat. I asked for a mug , she brought one over 5 minutes later. She poured it and I asked was there a charge? She said yes there was. The price of another cup of coffee. I asked her if she was serious and she said she was. Did I still want it? I couldn't believe she was going to charge me for a little coffee out of the carafe of my mother's coffee. I said no. She stormed away and threw it out. Then she just got worse. When it came time to pay the bill, she managed to muster up a smile. Tip time you know. Well, I paid the large bill for the not large food and left her a written tip that she had no business to be working in the public spotlight, that she plain was not "people material" and we left. My dinner was completely ruined along with the rest of my party. Above me on this survey list, I have not read one nice thing about Friendly's. Not one person has had anything nice to say about your company. What is going on with you people?????

Sincerely,

Christina Beard

I had the pleasure of dining two nights at your resturant in Mystic CT. The first night a wonderful waitress named Annett waited on us .She really went out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of and was very helpful with giving us some insiders advice on seeing the sights. We had such a positive experience we came back the next night Annett stoped by to say hi but we were not in her section but Jonathon (I hope I spelled his name right) was also very good and really made us feel welcome. These two people really made us feel like your resturant lived up to it's name. The food was also very good and the resturant was very well kept inside and out.

Hey there the name is Debbie. I was sitting outside of fairport ny friendlys which is Basically Rochester NY 14450. When 2 yound ladies came outside and were having a ciggerette. This was about 12am on August 9th 2010. A few minutes later a young gentlemen in all black comes outside, he also lights up a ciggerette. The ladie which i assume is the manager started yelling at the young man and said to him " you are worthless", did i tell you that you can be out here and much more horable things. The young man said back HEATHER why are you trying to argue with me i have done over the top tonight and i couldnt really take in much but the ladie started yelling at him and was very direspectful. Now i have gone to friendlys a lot and have never seen a manager so unprofessional before. I wonder if she even cared enough to see there were people listening to her rude comments. Im sorry to the poor guy that had to deal with that. Customer service i hope is way better.

I don't know if this is even worth writing seeing as corp. doesn't even look at it.
We had the worst experience at Friendlys on So. Willow st. In Manchester N.H.
My husband and I walked in and waited to be seated. This was 10am this morning.
There was one waiter and about 3 tables with costumers. He was polite and when he had a minute he seated my husband and I. After we were seated we waited over 5 minutes for a waitress to come to our table and ask for our order. We ordered coffee and English Muffins toasted. After about 10 or 15 minutes we still did not get our coffee. The waitress walked by our table when she was cleaning off another table and I politely asked if we could have our coffee. She got so adament and yelled It's brewing and it's not finished yet. She finally brought it out and said it was not finished brewing but she brought it out anyway. After about 10 more minutes and I am being very lenient with times believe me, I finally asked the waiter if he could check on our english muffins. He brought them out dry and cold and set them on our table. I asked him just what is going on with the service. He apologized and walked away. When the waitress went by us again I asked for the bill and left the 8.00 and 10 cent on the counter and walked out.
We have been going to the Nashua Friendlys for years and never had a complaint. I wish there was a way for someong to seriously tell Friendlys what is going on. Too bad they do not have a web page that you can complain to. I guess they wouldn't dare because it would be filled up in no time. I am in business and would never think of being rude to my costumers.

My husband and I tried to visit the Friendly's in Sturbridge, MA on Monday, June 28, 2010, approximately 1:30 pm. I am handicapped and in pain when standing. We waiting to be seated for 10 minutes with no ackmowledgement that we were even there. The restaurant was not busy, there were several booths available and the staff kept walking by us as if we did not exist. My husband asked for a supervisor or manager and was told that none were available. Very, very disapointed in the treatment we received. Went across the highway to Piccadilly Pub, was seated immediately, served in a timely manner and treated with the greatest respect.

Very Disapointed,
Barbara

It is Friday evening, July 2nd and my wife just went to visit the Foxboro Friendly's to get ice cream for our children. I just received a call from my wife telling me that she has been told that you can not get shakes, Fribbles, slammers, etc as they are out of cups at Foxboro's Friendly's and they don't expect to get any more until after the weekend is over. You can get a cup of ice cream but nothing in larger cups.

Absolutely brilliant!!! What is especially shocking is that no one has the sense to go get some cups. I guess it makes more sense to lose business over the holiday weekend when temperatures are to exceed 90 degrees.

Hooray for human ingenuity at Friendly's. Maybe I shouldn't be so critical. Perhaps Foxboro Friendly's donated all their cups, in a patriotic gesture, to help clean up the gulf oil spill.

A Friendly's Employee 7/11/10
What a poorly ran company. Constant complaints, poor management, and strict labor concerns from corporate ensure that this company will not be around much longer. It would be in the best interest of Friendly's to perform a major overhaul of it's structure. No matter which Friendly's restaurant you attend, you can be sure to receive poor service and terrible greasy food. If you're lucky, your server may be quick, but they will more than likely be a condescending ass. Stay away from Friendly's and stick to classier, more well ran restaurants.

Kelly Massaro 7/14/10
On Sunday, July 11, 2010, my husband and I took our two small children to the Friendly's location on Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT. Upon arrival, we waited approximately 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. It took 30 minutes for our food to arrive once the order had been placed and another 30 minutes before someone came back to ask if we would like any ice cream. At that point, if you have children, you would understand how horrible the night ended. Needless to say, we did not stay for ice cream and the children cried the whole way home. Thank you Friendly's. Two hours in a restaurant for a 3 and 6 year old is ridiculous.

I had a meal at the friendlys on Wolcott st in Waterbury tonight and was very apalled when we went to pay the bill. The manager proceeded to yell and even swear at an employee. Can I tell you the boy was probably sixteen. There is no need to get on anyone to that extreme and especially in front of customers. That manager should get a tongue lashing or fired. He is very unprofessional!!!!! Won't go back 07/16/10

Sue 7/24/10
Our our recent trip on July 23, 2010 to 708 Belmont Street Brockton, Ma, we had a unpleasant experience. Our party of four placed our drink order.

The waitress was very nice and said she would put a freshly brewed pot of coffee on but came out a few minutes later with not a freshly brewed coffee. She also stated she was all out of cream. You have to have milk. We thought that was strange that a restaurant would be out of something like that.

We placed our order and twenty minutes went by and the waitress came out and stated that they were all out clam strips. One would think the waitress would have come out sooner to tell us. Never the less we were not happy. The waitress went to the manager to state our displeasure and the manager on duty spoke loud enough

for us and everyone else in the restaurant to hear saying " What the coffee is bad?

What are they going to complain about everything ! " We thought that this manager

was very unprofessional, rude and made us feel very uncomfortable and unwanted.

We have gone to Friendly's restaurant quite often and we have never had an experience like this. We are not one to complain but we all felt that we needed to express our feelings Thank you for taking your time in reading this

Sincerely

Sue
