Merry Christmas ad on Nov 6th

OK, how can it be allowed that Belk's is wishing us a Merry Christmas on a TV commercial on November 6h! Are we going to allow such action? These ads should not start before Dec 1st!!

I have shopped online at Belk before and never had any problems, however on Oct 22,2012 I tried to place an order, I ended up calling a representative for Belk and he tried to help me over the phone. I was told that there was a problem with my credit card, so I called my bank and was informed that there were no problems with my card that it must be the processing system at Belk, this was confirmed by the representative. He then told me that I should try back within the hour to replace my order. I TOLD HIM VERY PLAIN to cancel this order!!!!! I checked my e-mail later and found that this order had been processed not once but TWICE! So I called and spoke with a representative who told me that my order had already been shipped. They have taken the money out of my account and it is MY responsibility to return this product. It should not be my responsibility and it should have never been processed!!!!! I will never shop online Belk again and I will be sure to share my experience. Good thing I had the money in my account at the time this was processed or this could have been ugly for me. Sorry you lost a customer and maybe more customers.

Here in AL at the Summit, they have a horrible manager in the ladies shoe dept. She treats her employees like bad children and she does it in public. Marlene needs to go. Maybe just retire since she doesn't need the money anyway and I'd hate for anyone else to have to deal with her. I know this review won't matter to anyone, as long as Belk's is raking in the dough and being allowed to mistreat their employees. I won't shop there anymore. It's too stressful.

I have shopped in Belk for years and can always find clothing I love. I was in on Friday September 14th and was going to treat myself to a birthday pedicure and manicure due to I was going out of town on Saturday for a huge reunion. I spent 3 hours in the salon and it was the worst 3 hours ever spent. The pedicure was not a pedicure but simply putting lotion on my feet and polishing my toenails. I have been to many places to get pedicures and some have been awful but this was worse than all the places put together. There was only about 25 colors to choose from and they were the worst colors under the sun. She kept having to add thinner to the polish and still it was clumpy and gross. She finally took the color off TWICE and ask that I choose another color and it was the same gross clumpy mess. She finally painted my toes with (she said purple but it was black). She finally polished my fingernails and I think it must have been her first day due to I can polish my nails faster and more in the lines with my left hand than she did . She changed polish color and kept adding thinner many times. I walked out with NO polish on my nails and fingernail polish all over my hands and all in my cuticles . I have never spent so much time with such a mess as this was. When I started to pay they were actually going to charge me for the manicure and I had to let them know that the tech only painted my fingernails 4 times to take it off and as she could see I had NO nail polish on my nails at which time she took off $10.00. I was charged $40.00 for this service and it was not worth .50 cent. I had to come home and take the nail polish off my toes and polish my toes again so I could have my nails and feet match. I feel like if you can not offer a manicure/pedicure service with decent polish and someone who actually knows how to handle the service you should not offer it at all. It was awful. I will never use your service and will tell everyone I know to NEVER to go into the salon for this service. Wasted time.

I have a daughter soon to be married. A sister who lives in a different town went to purchase china from Belk based on the bridal registry. The associate pulled the bridal registry and then proceeded to pull a different pattern from the same manufacturer. She sold my sister the china and assigned the incorrect pattern to my daughter's registry. At the engagement party, the gift was opened and in order not to embarress my sister, my daughter smiled and thanked her and the family "ooed and ahhed". My daughter left that town the next day to return to her engineering job. So I went to make an exchange. Everyone made it quite plain to me that they had not made the error and it was certainly something I had done wrong. So I said can I exchange these for the correct pattern and can you remove the incorrect information from the registry. No they could not remove the entry. But they would put down that she did not want any of that pattern on the registry. Does that make any sense? They made the exchange but then informed me that I owed them money. I did not understand why I owed them money. The lead clerk said they were more expensive. She had just printed a bridal registry and placed it in my hand plainly showing that was no difference in the cost of the two patterns of china. Finally she then said well the purchase must have been made with a coupon, and I did not have a coupon. So in order to make the exchange I had to pay the money. My sister did not make the error when she purchased the china the Belk employee did so. My daughter did not place an incorrect pattern on the registry the Belk employee did so. I did not make an error in making a simple exchange to get the correct china. But I had to pay for that Belk employee error. My advice to anyone who reads this is to register at Bed Bath and Beyond. You will get courtesy, fair treatment and more importantly the correct china. I guess I should have made a royal scene and asked for the store manager but why would I think that they could be any more competent than the rest of the people that work there?

I have shopped at Belks for years, but I will not shop there any longer. I, like many people, use my check/debit card when shopping mainly because I live in a Metropolitan area and it is dangerous to carry cash. The last time I shopped at Belks in Bethelehem, Georgia I bought 67.68 worth of clothing. Over the past few years I have noticed that the quality of clothing has gone down. I have had to return items that were under the "Belks" label (disguised as a different label name) that pilled badly after one hand wash and items that actually became stretched with careful washing and would not fit properly around the chest and neck anymore. I was always given the money back on the debit/check card I used without any issues. The last time I went in, I bought 67.68 in 3 separate shirts/blouses. These items have also become mishapen after carefully following the washing instructions. In fact, one of the items lost fibers that were floating in the sink water and the cloth now has a sheerness to it that it did not have before. It is a quality issue. So, I want to return them. The problem is I no longer have the debit/check card I used when purchased. I am being told I cannot get cash back and they would only offer a gift card for purchases in store. This is unacceptable for me as I no longer want to purchase clothing their since I cannot depend on the quality. I was told the store does not have any exceptions to this rule and never gives cash back unless cash was tended, even when a card is no longer valid. This policy is not posted on any signage at the point of purchase, although the back of the receipt simply does not list any cash refund policy at all but only the policy regarding the use of cards. I feel that Belks is inflexible and unreliable. I absolutely don't want to buy clothing there any more. I would rather shop at SteinMart or Macy's who oftentimes have pretty sales and prices then Belks. I have a manager (on duty) checking to see if there is any resolution to this dilemma. Belks has been a part of my shopping experience since I was a young girl. My mother worked there for years. She bought my school clothes there. I bought my "prom" dresses there. It is a part of my memories and I am 57 years old. The store in Decatur, Georgia was a fixture in most city dwellers lives. But it isn't the same anymore. They don't care about their customers anymore and make shopping with them very difficult. So, after all these years, I have decided not to risk buying subpar product from them and shop where I can get better goods and services. I just can't afford to have money sitting on gift cards that I may not use for a long period of time and I will not carry large amounts of cash on my person and risk being mugged or held up in a parking lot. So, goodbye Belk's. You've changed too much and you don't love me anymore.

Today I was shopping in the Belk store at the Galleria in Hoover, Al. I had to find someone to wait on me , when I asked if I could be helped I had to wait while the sales associates was rearranging clothes. I asked to speak to the manager (I think his name was Ken) he never showed up. I was a customer of Parisian for many years before Belk took over, you would NEVER have been treated like this at Parisian. I have my own business and I can assure you that if someone asked one of my employees to help them and they went on about their business they would not be employed by me too long. I know I will never hear back from your Corporate office but if enough people quit shopping your stores you might end up closing your doors

I just wanted to try to get ahold of someone over the accident that happened with my daughter on 7/5/12. I have tried to call headquarters 100 times and was not able to speak with ANYONE. My 4 year old daughter fell on a wet floor and the display was out in the walk way. I filed an injury report with the manager at belks that night at 8:45 p.m. At the store in Bristol VA/ TENN. I took her to the er the next morning because we do not have a car. She had a fractured toe and it seems as if Belks does not care. They will not even pay her er visit or the money I had to pay people for a ride to the hospital. Or the medicine I had to buy out of my pocket. Or the fact she sat up all night crying that her toe hurts. So I dont know if I should get a lawyer or not. I was trying to talk to the cashier about a shirt while she was on the phone and holding her finger up at me. My daughter was coming out of the rest room. I stood there and watched her trip over the medal leg of the display. They have cameras all over the place, watch the footage. This is insane that they will not even respond or pay for her er visit. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN! Mom's BEWARE if you have small children the store's are not SAFE.

I work for Belk and I love my job. I always dress professional and do my best to keep my department in order. Why is it that only some are noticed for what they wear if it is not by Belk scale? If flip flops are not allowed then all employees should not be able to wear them. Half of the store wears them, but only certain ones are called out if they wear a really nice pare or they are therapeutic . Dress code should apply to all not certain ones. Same with skirts or dresses, if it is three inches above the knee then all should wear three inches above the knee. If we are going to be a more elite store then all rules should apply to everyone and have a store wide meeting on the rules. So that everyone is on the same page.

belk in southern pine the mangers told me than help me with relay for life than donate something to help out i have call so many time to ask about it than keep give me the run around it like this you can say yes or no don;t have me think you are going to help and you not

My first two shopping experience were good ,My third and Last shopping experience Online..I receive a XLarge Shirt that fitted like a Medium...I had the same problem with Overstock.com, I also receive a tank Top that had soiled Finger prints on it. I wonder who is doing Quality control...Well Sir I won't shop at Belk Online any more. The Customer Svc didn't reply to my complaint.....either too lazy or don't care.

My husband loves the store. We each have a Rewards Card from the store. I received, via email, a sale promotion for an online purchase. I filled out the request form, even agreeing to the $8.00 shipping for one pair of shorts. However, when asked for my email address to complete the transaction, it came back my email was not in their system! How can I shop online when you don't have my email address in your system, yet I get the emails and bills from you VIA EMAIL?

I RECENTLY MADE MY VERY FIRST TRIP INTO A BELKS IN HERITAGE TRACE AND LIKED THE LADY IN THE PERFUME DEPARTMENT SO MUCH I DECIDED I WOULD OPEN AN ACCOUNT. I NOW WANT YOU TO CLOSE THAT ACCOUNT. SOON AFTER MY VISIT I HAD TO GO IN FOR SURGERY SO I WAS A LITTLE LATE PAYING THAT NEW ACCOUNT. TO BE PESTERED AT HOME AND WORK BY A VERY AUTOCRATIC WOMEN (EVEN BY THEN i HAD PAID MY BILL IN FULL) AND TO BE SPOKEN TO IN SUCH A MANNER WAS VERY "INHOSPITABLE " TO ME AND I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO YOUR STORES - ANYWHERE.

Ted Troxell & Management Team Belk Winchester, VA Dear Belk Management Team, Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from my position as a full time Lancôme Beauty Advisor. My last day of Belk employment will be July 20, 2012. I am writing this letter to inform you about the verbal harassment I’ve being subjected to while employed by Belk of Winchester VA, by my immediate supervisor and counter manger. With the verbal harassment and bullying of my counter manager about my looks and weight, I feel uncomfortable in my work environment. She has repeatedly brought up the issue of how she feels I need to lose weight. In her words, “If you lose 10 or 15 pounds, you would be perfect.” I have more than once told her and my other co-workers that I am happy with myself as I am. She even thought it appropriate to ask other women within our department if they agreed with her that I was overweight and needed to lose weight. As not only a woman but, in general, no one feels comfortable discussing anyone’s weight or body type much less doing it in a public forum which was humiliating. Even her jokes like “No one is bigger than you, Elainea,” are completely hurtful and created an uncomfortable work environment. It is beyond unprofessional to deal with these comments from my counter manager who represents not only Belk but, Lancôme as well. These comments are humiliating and abusive behavior that is affecting my self-esteem and has me dreading each day I have to work with my superior / counter manger. I refuse to continue to feel this way and stay within this mentally hurtful work environment where my superior makes me feel bad about my body, myself and lowers my confidence. This verbal harassment hinders my work performance on the sales floor because my self-esteem and confidence are being degraded and broke down by this verbal harassment. In light of recent events, finding out I am not being allowed to take three days of unpaid leave with more than two months of employment. My unpaid leave request is required for personal family business that I have committed to and I am unable to with draw from. Lancôme is not in a gift special or in a sale week of my requested time off, nor is any other employees within cosmetics department on leave or vacation. I was unaware that unpaid days off were earned since they are unpaid. Under these circumstances, I am left with no choice but to tender my resignation and move on. I am a human being that deserves respect in my workplace with family obligations like other employees. Thanking You, Yours Sincerely, Elainea

I see alot of complaints on this site about the Belk Corp. It might not hurt if someone in their headquarters listened to the public, since these store are suppose to be all about customer service and one of the largest independantly owned retail stores in the South.I would have to wonder with so many complaints why would so many people still even shop with this company? And I agree with one of the comments as far as an employee, you can forget being treated with any respect. You are just an associate with a number and nothing more. The store that I worked for only cared about what they could get out of you. Instead of emloyees being trained correctly they push you threw like cattle and then if you make a mistake, there policy is do as I say not as I do, and then you are out of a job. And never have employee holds, that is a big no, no! But hey! store #0348 there were employee holds in every stockroom. Even the store manager had her holds hanging on the back of her office door, that would hang there for days. You lead by example and I don't think that HR or LP would smile on some of the things that goes on, in this store in Guntersville,AL. Would really like to speak with someone in Belk headquarters. To bad your just sitting there counting money and not listing to customers, employee's, or former employee's.

My rating is for the cosmetic departments in your cool springs galleria store in Franklin tn. I have shopped this store many times I buy a lot of dept store cosmetics. The lancome and Mac gals are horrible I mean horrible to deal with. The Estée Lauder counter is great ! So are the rest. There is a long haired brunette in particular at the lancome counter who is horrible to deal with . I have dealt who her on 3 occasions and I wont do it again ! Long gone are the days of snotty cosmetic gals and these Ladies need to go ! Please let these ladies know customer service is still important. I made a pricey purchase today with Mac but only because they are the only Mac counter. I highly doubt I ever go back. I live near mt Juliet , tn Belk and they have wonderful sales people . I might also add three times I had to drive Back because I was sold the wrong items. These gals need to stop socializing and listen!

I would have given a 5 star but I do have a complaint and so I can only give a 3 star. I love shopping at the Belk at Parkway place mall in Huntsville, AL, but PLEASE listen to us and lower the temperature in your stores so we can shop and try on clothes without burning up and sweating profusely. It get especially warm in the intimate department. You know a bra will not fit right if you are sweaty and yucky! I would probably spend more money at my store but I get so hot and sweaty I have to stop and go home! lol

I walked into the belk store at the Dutch Square Center, 421 Bush River road Columbia, SC 29210 and I determined that there was vacant position in the men clothing department. The sale manager over the department had me to apply for the position and take the a assessment test which I passed. The sales manager Breenan stated he would call me three days but he never did. So, I return to the store to find out hadn't I received the call a number of four times and there were still no results given to me. Next, I met the sales manager over the women department, Josh, who interviewed me for the position in the men department, and stated that I'd have a job in a week. He also stated that he'd call in three days but he never did, so I return to the store again to only determine that the position that I was granted to me was given to someone else. So, Josh stated that I would be given the position in the small appliances department and informed to call Sharon Clair, Store Manager to speak with her. I called her to speak with her to getting things set for training. Sharon stated she'd call me back but she never did. About a month later I received a call from the Women department manager to come to the store and speak with Sharon Clair, I returned to the store for good news and bad news. The good news was that I was hired for the position in the small appliances department and the bad news was that I never got a chance to speak with Sharon Clair, who was to set everything up for me to get started. After delaying continuance of my education and looking to get started in the belk store but not receiving employment, I would refuse to recommend anyone to search for employment here at the belk store

Too bad I had to give 1 star. I work for Belk in Conyers, GA and let me just say, DON'T EVER GET A JOB THERE! They treat their workers like crap, unless you are a sales associate then you are on top of the world. I'm talking about behind the scenes associates like me. I work in receiving with a wonderful hard working team, but lately they have been dumping all the work onto us like housekeeping, setting sales, markdowns, not to mention our own work which is unloading the truck and processing the merchandise, we have to do everything for the sales associates so they can have it easy. I was also FORCED to part time after working there for 6 years, and just received my very FIRST raise which wasn't even fifty cents. I have basically done about every job in the building and even took on some that management does and THIS is how they treat me? The store manager even said that he doesn't want the sales associates to have to clean up the bathrooms if they are bad at night, when we are not there, just so they don't ruin their precious clothing, but it's ok if we look like a porter potty blew up on us and still have to work on the floor with customers, and then those nasty bathrooms are waiting for us in the morning and by the time we get to them they don't clean up well because of sitting there all night. We are all so fed up with Belk that at times we are ready to just walk out. They used to be a family oriented business, now look, they don't even care. What really steams me is last month I had a collapsed lung and they were trying to cheat me on my FMLA paperwork. My lung collapsed the week before I went to part-time, so I was still full time, and they were trying to file the FMLA paperwork for the day I went to part time. They said it was to benefit me. HOW??? Now I am down to part time benefits and I don't even know if any of those will cover my medical necessities. I HATE not knowing what tomorrow will bring and/or if any major medical thing happens and I have no coverage. And I seriously think it's the conditions of the job that caused it. It's so stuffy in the morning that you are so tempted to take a bath in the sink just to cool off, or even go outside when it's 80 degrees, that says something! They don't even like having too many workers just so the big guys can have their bonus, they only care about themselves and how much money THEY can get. News flash you're not the ones who need it! If the higher ups came and tried to do our job they wouldn't last a day with the work load they dump on us. Specially since there is only 5 of us when there should be 8, one full time, one is leaving us, one is temporary, and one I seriously think they are trying to make quit. Very unprofessional guys!

I live in Orangeburg SC and the Belk here is an anchor store for a town that only has 2 or 3 stores to shop in. I was in there looking for a baby gift and your baby dept is awful. Nothing much (less than much) to choose from for a new born. In walking around the store I relize that there is no help hardly to be found. In talking with a clerk (that happens to be working 3 dept.) she said that they don't have anyone in the baby dept to keep it updated, she was sorry. Also I found out that one clerk might have 3 departments to look out for. I hate it when I have to travel to Columbia SC in order to shop. I have now placed you all on the level with the Wal Mart here. Poor Poor Poor I am just one person and my little bit of money that I spend in there you want even miss. It makes me so sad that the standard of the few stoes in this town have gone to pot....... I would love it if the store could return to the days of 25 years ago. Your managers use to be visabe and and customer service was excellent, but not any more.........
