Poor Customer Service

The Tom Thumb in my neighborhood is on Alma and Hedgecox and the customer service is poor. I shop at this location several times a week and each time three to four of the employees are sitting outside smoking. This would not be such an issue if there was more than one line open. This morning really took the cake. I went to check out and there was only one line open. The person working the check out line was on his cell phone speaking very loudly on a personal call. After about two minutes, he decided to start ringing me up while staying on his cell phone. The manager walked and this employee advised him that another employee would be available to come into work. However, he needs to leave and go get him at this very moment. The managers says ok and the guy checking me out leaves in the middle of ringing up my groceries.

GAS POINTS DISCRIMINATORY

Are you racking up the points toward gas discounts at Kroger or Tom Thumb? Read the fine print. Those points are discriminatory against gas efficient cars!

False Advertising

I have shopped at the Tom Thumb in Mesquite on the corner of Pioneer and Cartwright since I moved to the area in 2002. I have shopped there because for the most part they have provided good customer service. Now they have two primary ways to save, the Card and the Just For U price. I have a job and I am very busy. I don't use the just for u program that requires you to load items onto an app periodically to get the special price for that item. It is essentially electronic coupons. I went shopping today and items marked with CARD discounts did not take of the discount. I asked about this and was told that the price posted was a Just For You price. This is false advertising. The manager was willing to change the price at the register, but she was going to leave the labels that said card price. She never admitted that this was wrong even though it was clearly false deceptive advertising. I am tired of all the gimicks. I will no longer shop at Tom Thumb and would advise all buyers to beware.

From Navarre Florida, zip 32566. I am a Real Estate professional in Navarre Florida and I wanted to just let the Tom Thumb Corporate office know they have some truely fantastic people working at their stores here. I have been doing business with all the convenience stores here but Tom Thumb personell are the greatest. They are well trained and courteous at all hours. It is a pleasure to have so many great people in these areas of daily contact and this kind of attitude helps to sell our area. The local Stores are located in Navarre which are Tom Thumb, Navarre Parkway and Sunrise, Tom Thumb at Coral and Navarre Parkway, Laredo and Hwy 87, and Hwy 399 and Hwy 87. There are some good and helpful people here in these stores and greatly appreciated.

Hello all I would just like to say that anyone considering shopping at Tom Thumb should drive down the street to a different store. My two children were outside trying to sell raffle tickets for their baseball team which I think most people with kids can relate to and not only were they told to leave they were yelled at by the store manager! My son is 11 years old!!I spend about 600 dollars a month in that same store every month!!NOt anymore!!I went to ask the store manager why she felt it was okay to yell at an 11 year old for something as simple as trying to raise money for their LOCAL baseball organazation. And she replied that this store belonged to her and she can do and say what she pleases in or on it!!!Yes she can but I and you can take our money elsewhere and I hope whoever reads this will do so!!I would rather wait in line at Walmart than to spend my money at a place like this one.The only way to change Big Business and their attitudes towards their own customers is to hit their pocketbooks! Thanks for reading!!!

This morning (8 Dec, 2011) at 0720, I went in to the Tom Thumb at 23200 SW 177 Ave. to get cash out of the ATM, and buy a few things. I frequently go to this store to buy odds and ends when required. I did not see anyone behind the counter, and proceed towards the ATM. I heard someone talking in Spanish, which I do not understand. I swiped my card, and heard more Spanish in a meaner tone, I looked back and seen a girl on the other side of the store, and she said "HELLOOOOO", in a sarcastic voice, like I am an idiot. She said the machine did not work, daaa! I canceled my transition, and walked out of the store with the intention of never coming back. 1. I guess it is a requirement to speak Spanish at this store, even though it is in America? 2. I am active duty in the military, but won't let this bother me while I am still fighting for this girl's freedom. 3. I live about 1/2 mile from the store, and will never go again. I will also make sure all my neighbors and friends are aware. Thank you

This is a complaint with the Tom Thumb store in Grapevine, TX. We shop at this store for the major portion of our groceries spending roughly $125+ per week. The sale price doesn't always match what we get charged for on the receipt. When we do catch it we tell them the next time we come in and usually it isn't that big of a deal, but it is a hassle for me as a customer. This particular time I decided to purchase my dog food there for it was on sale and as we (me and my husband) were driving home my husband said he was curious as to how much we were charged for the dog food. Well it was regular price... not a big surprise, so I called the store while in the car as we were approaching our home. I explained what happened and the person Manope went to look for the price on the dog food and he came back and said that for your time and expense the next time you are in the store tell them that I said you could have it for free. I told him on the phone really that is not what I was looking for, but he said he insisted for it was an inconvenience they have caused me. Well after 3 attempts they (managers) were not very helpful. One told me that she had just closed the till and she could not help me for I would have to come back another day. Then today Heidi the assistant mgr said she would have to research it first before she could refund me. Today we had bought our groceries along with another bag of dog food there. How many times do they have to research it and find out what role Manope had to play in this …? Why am I having so much kick back. We are currently considering shopping at a different store (Central Market) for our weekly groceries even if it means paying higher price and a little further away. I know every now and then you will have an incorrect price charged to you, but really this happens a lot at this store and frankly I'm getting really tired of having to call their attention to this. I do like the rich taste of the deli meats there at Central Market for they don’t taste like they have been watered down. I like the wine and my husband likes the beer selection Central Market has as well. There are really so many likes I have for Central Market.

I have been shopping at your stores for a long time, however, I am not happy with your (rewards),nuisance card. Three times, my points expired before I could use them. I put the card in the trash, but every time I try to shop,I am asked for the card at the gas pump or the counter. Maybe I need to find another place to shop.

On Monday, I stopped by your store located at 248 St & Krome Ave., Homestead, FL to fill up with gas with a charge of $50+. My gas gauge did not move, so I thought I was broken. Next day coming home from work which is 10 miles, my car died. I called a tow truck at a cost of $95 to pick my car up and take it to a repair shop. We found out that there wa no gas in the tank. How could your gas record an amount of gas putinto the car and charge me, if there was not gas in the car. I have topay for a tow truck and other expenses and there is nothing wrong with my car. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the service. I have been going there for years. Please respond to jberger@chamberinaction.com

I just wanted to say i went into a tom thumb store off spring valley an marsh lane. An the manager in the floral was so rude an seemed disconnected from her customer skills.i thoughtcustomers came first an foremost. Above chatting with other emplyees.an trying to humiliate her helper in front of others.prefer to take my business else where...

just want to say the new store on Inwood is awesome. The neighborhood loves the new store very much and will miss the old Simon David store. The employess there are very friendly, especially Phillp. He has gone above and beyond to help me when I try to find something. Their prices there are compatible to Wal-mart.

I tried to purchase a Honeysuckle turkey yesterday and the price on the tag said it was $16.82 but when the cashier (muslim and untrained for cashiering) tried to ring it up, she rang it at $21.32!!! I told her that was incorrect and she spent the next 15 minutes trying to figure out the code to ring it up again and this time it was $26 something. I have had enough of Tom Thumb and their policies and pricing. They are cheating the public with their sale leaders the try to charge you a higher price. Isn't that illegal?????????????

I don't shop Tom Thumb except for sales. Why spend the extra money just to be seen shopping there. This much I have to say for their praise, The store in Plano, Texas donates deserts, breads and pastry when at the pull date, to the Senior Citizen Center which is a blessing to many elderly people that are on a small income. Costco also makes similar kind of donation. Albertson’s and Kroger’s were asked to donate their items also but their answer is that they throw them out. They have my phone number also our tax number and if they change their minds and call me I shall change this announcement. Alias Cigano

Tom Thumb in Arlington, 5000 South Cooper st is the worst store in the chain. Always everyday they let anywhere from 20 to 30 skateboarders roam their parking lot like it's a skate park. Between 6 and 8pm only ONE lane is open. Not some of the time, ALL of the time. THough Mansfield has a BEAUTIFUL store this one is horrible. The tomatoes stand, when you look at the bottom their is mold and juice because they never change out the paper or the lining on bottom. Today I tried to take advantage of a sale of Tombstone pizza. They have it 10 for 4.00. Though other stores will post a limit. Tom Thumb on COOPER st does not. They refused to sell me 60 pizzas. Tom Dutton the mgr. said "Our ad says it" I said but your window does NOT. He said "I know!" They refuse to put a sign on the windows of the refrig that they sell them in. SO HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW?! It's the worse store in Arlington. NO WONDER KROGER ACROOS THE STREET IS ALWAYS PACKED AND THEIR NOT!

5 star with reservation You make an excellent Artisan Tiramisu Bar Cake then cut it into four sections and list the cost of each section at $11.99. This is very unreasonable considering that none of the cake ingredients are expensive nor short in supply nor hard to find. Please consider my concern and explain why. As it is I feel like Tom Thumb has deliberately put your hands in my pocket. I don't understand that when you can easily make a healthy profit at half the price you would purposely charge what you do for the only reason that you know you can do it. Why don't you regard your faithful customers more than you do and not deliberately take every red cent that you kow you can get away with doing. Is this not very wrong? Jonathan
