My Mother, who has been a loyal customer for 4 years and never been late is sitting here crying her eyes out on the sofa. She has yet to receive a bill for this month so she took it upon herself to be the responsible one and call weekly trying to get her bill paid..the first two people she talked to told her she owed only $55 because she had been credited $88...she paid that. She still never received a bill so she called back to talk it over and they told her the bills were sent out late because your meter readers were behind and then also told her she has a past due bill and that she owes over $275. She's on a fixed income, she can not pay this huge amount all at once. The representatives she spoke with each time obviously didnt know what they are talking about. We got a different story from every person we spoke with. When we called back today to get something figured out, after someone had rudely hung up on her this morning, the man that answered told us that the account we were calling about had been inactive since 2008. Really??!! Seriously?? You have got to be kidding me, this is ridiculous. This is the most impossible customer service ever. After this whole mess of an experience, I was never happier to hear her tell them that she would pill the bill by next month but would be switching companies very soon. Honestly though, I think this ridiculous because of the fact my Mother never sets her thermostat below 80 and now its up even higher in this awful heat because shes been bullied by you people for the past month, shes scared of what other sort of games yall might play with her before shes actually able to pay this bill completely and switch companies.

Phyllis - I have a few suggestions for you. First, contact Don Smith VP of Customer Care. I would write a letter to him at 1601 Bryan St. Dallas, TX 75201-3411 Phone: 214-812-4600 Make sure they know they are in violation of the Fair Dept Credit Act by attempting to collect on a debt that does not belong to you and which they have not verified as belonging to you. Same for reporting you to any credit agencies. Do NOT deal with some overseas call center low level person. Second, I would go to www.equifax.com and sign up for their service (either $14.95 per month or $19.95 per month with the credit scores). Then go onto Equifax and put a permanent fraud alert on your credit. This way no one else can ever use your SSN to open a line of credit or get service from TXU. You'll need to go online to unfreeze it anytime you need to get a credit card, etc. but at least you will know you can't have your identity stolen in the meantime. Lastly - best energy provider in North Texas is Cirro Energy. Low consistent rates and great service. I have them autodebit my checking account each month. Low bills and I never have to worry about them getting it right.

The TEXAS utility commission sucks TXU`s power line They belive everything txu tells them and txu will lie.

After being with TXU for over a year and being out of work for several months. TXU billed me for a deposit of over $800.00. When I told them that I could not afford that deposit they threatened to shut off my service. I was put in a spot to find another provider. After doing so, TXU billed me for $200.00 cancelling the contract early. Then they put it on my credit when they are the ones that backed me into a corner and forced me to find a new provider. They are the worst company I have EVER delt withand they could care less about any of their customers. I will tell as many friends and family as i can to stay as far away from them as possible.

Their call centers are VERY poor; I had trouble understanding anyone I spoke with. The wait time is unusually long and frustrating. If I could, I'd leave less than one star - that's how infuriating I found their "customer service", which is at best and oxymoron.

Tu Electric refused to give me any information on who opened this acct #900035269130, using my name and ss# and refused to show me who signed for the service, what address, dates of service, ph# used, SS# give. signature on acct, secret pass word, mothers maiden name, Dlic # used, Because they dont have that information! Because they screwed up and made a mistake. I had to prove where I lived, I had to send a copy of letter tu sent me that was address to another man, a Mr Scoggins at a p.o.box and still after all that they still refused to take it off my credit report and it is screwing up my credit. It's unfair! I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Each time I call I have to give my drivers license, phone number, ss number so I called supervisor and set up a password so I would not need to tell all this personal info, and it worked for a couple days then I called back around 2 a.m. and David said no way was he telling me anything about my account without all the personal info he asked for. This is insane this was the reason I set a password so I did not have to tell the bozo's all that info, and no matter what I said he did not care and he would not give me any info on my accounts, I put in a work order for a cut off of my power which was on Tuesday April 19 11 but it did not happen. And no info was given to me because I would not give out my personal info again. Customer service is real bad, I been an account holder for 37 years you think I could be treated with a little respect and concern and not be grilled as if I am a crimminal.

TXU SENT ME A BILL TO MY ADDRESS, ADDRESSED TO A MR - AND A MR-, WHEN I CALLED ABOUT INFOR THEY SAID I COULDNT GET ANY INFOR BECASUSE THIS WAS NOT MY ACCT, WHICH I KNEW THAT! BUT ITS RUINNING MY CREDIT. AND I WONDRED HOW THEY GOT MY SS#. SO, I SENT PROOF OF MY ADDRESS DURING THE TIME THEY SAID; I OCCURED THESE BILLS AND NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT! $217.00, THEN IT WAS LOWERED THIS BILL TO $160.OO BUT THATS NOT THE POINT. THIS IS NOT MY BILL! I WANT IT OFF OF MY CREDIT REPORT. IM TRIED OF BEING HARRASED BY TXU! THEN TXU HAD THE NERVE TO SEND IT TO COLLECTIONS, UNREAL! THIS IS WRONG! ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS LOOK UP THE ACCT NUMBER AND PROVIDE THE SIGNATURE OF WHO OPENED THE ACCT WHO CLOSED IT, BIRTH DATE, PHONE #, COPY W PICTURE AND DLIC # USED, MOTHERS MAIDEN NAME, DATES OF SERVICE, PASS KEY WORD, ADDRESSES, DATES OF USAGE, AND TXU HAS REFUSED ALL OF THE ABOVE. PROBABLY CAUSE THEY CANT PRODUCE IT! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET A CLEAN SLATE ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT AND TRY AND KEEP IT, JUST TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE A CAR AND A HOUSE, FOR YOUR CHILDREN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS NOT EVEN YOUR BILL!

My wife and I just received a Feb bill for $207.49! That's the highest electricity usage in ONE YEAR BY FAR on our billing cycle. In fact, it blew away months Jul-Sept. I called to dispute this and of course the customer service rep had no answers to my questions or complaints regarding our meter. I asked to speak to a supervisor, only to be put on hold for 26 minutes and then disconnection.

I have emailed the exective office a question regarding call centers located outside of the US and why when we have a high unemployment rate they don't move them back to the states. I would receive the stupid email reply that they rec'd my email, then receive an email that did not address my question, at the end of the email it stated if I wasn't satisfied I could open another inquiry! I just replied to the stupid response pointing out that THEY did not respond to the email properly and to have a fringing executive give me a call. Ok, I rec'd a call from a supervisor in AN OVERSEAS CALL CENTER!!! I thanked her for her call but stated she is not the level I wanted calling me...please have an executive call me! That was 2 weeks ago ....NOTHING. Until now I have not had a problem but I think things have changed since the buyout in 2007..so it's time to get local again. This is why I HATE Corporate America...Support local.

They switched my service from my husband to me without my knowledge after he had assaulted me and I was a crime victim and wanted to move and get service at another residence.. This is the worst company I have ever used! I am not a customer and will never be a customer. I knew better and I just read all the comments above. My friend went with txu and regretted it from the first day. My problem is I am on a no call Texas plan and I have a No Soliciting sign at my front door and the stupid idiots ignore it. I will NEVER buy anything being pitched at my front door. Heck it is scary in Houston to open your door during the day when you are home alone. I called customer service and after about 5 minutes got to talk to a person. I could not lodge a complaint there I was told I have to call corporate offices and he did not have that number. Finally talked to a person at corporate office and she said she removed my name from every list. Do you know the people that is knocking on your door does not work for txu. That is scary! Good riddance.

I was contacted by TXU promotions and given a 30 minute spill about a monitoring device. the whole time, being told at the end of the call, they were also going to lower my rate. Needless to say at the end of the call, they began there spill about lowering my rate. they said they would lower it from my current 12.8 to 10.8 for 24 months. While he was given his spill, I logged into my account and noticed that my current rate was 10.32, so in escence, they were fixing to jack my rate up.5%. I asked him on recording what my current rate was and he said 12.8. I aksed him two more times to verify 12.8 in which he did. Luckily I had a current bill available and when i pointed it out that my current rate was 10.3, he said he must have been looking at the wrong numbers. then when i tried to speak to his supervisor, I was disconnected and tried calling back five times to speak to a supervisor and each time was disconnected. So long TXU, you just lost a 9 year customer.

Do not make payment arrangements with TXU after you have finished paying, they place a negative rport on your credit record stating that you still have an outstanding balance. TXU energy changed the boxes on the houses last year and all residents saw about a three hundred dollars increase in their bill. After agreeing and setting up payments, no payments were missed. Why does my credit report now state that there is a charge-off with TXU. The derogatory information was not added until the last payment was made. Now I am trying to get the report fixed and customer service sucks. If I was that poor of a customer why do I receive letters daily asking me to return to TXU? Croocks!

6 months of talking to call centers in other countries to try to change the name on my bill. It's like dealing with AT&T - awful. Stay away from this company. I had to pretend I wanted to set up new service and yell BOOGEDY BOOGEDY into the phone to get a kid in Lubbock who could finally help me. What a waste of time.

Waste of time company...inaccurate deceptive promotions, hours on the phone, dishonest sales reps, and they will screw you in the end. Go to powertochoose.org to find the best priced electric provider in your area, the service is provided by the government and it is free, no signups, just straight-forward information. TXU is the one of the biggest reasons that consumers pushed for deregulation and now we have a CHOICE!

Worst electric bills ever with TXU. Moved from a house near McKinney this past summer and never paid more than $225 a month - winter or summer - and move to Teague, Texas and first bill was close to $400 for 13 days! First winter bill - $433 with the thermostat set on 66! In the fall, had everything turned OFF and the bill was still $198. Sickening.
